CHUM LEE
My owner moved and couldn't take me - I'm a laid back very loving cat who is fine with kids, dogs and reportedly other cats. Here at the Center I am taken aback so am a little nervous. I prefer wet food to dry food. I am very loving one on one but am overwhelmed by a crowd. While I am well adjusted once settled a lot of chaos at first would be scary.

Chum Lee AKA Bandit is such a joy. He is so lovable and a very polite kitty. No bad habits at all. Well unless you count him wanting to eat at 4am.

MISHKA
Just got here. Really? Another new place? Seriously humans, can you love me and keep me forever? Foster mom says that I will be able to stay in my next home forever with my very own people. She's just getting to know me, but she has heard that I like other kitties and woofers, too. I'm a little shy about being picked up, but pet me on my body, and I'm in heaven! More about me soon.

Notes from Home
Was holding off a bit on our updates on Mishka. Seeing progress! it has been slow to earn his trust, but Monday, April 13, Mishka let me know I was sleeping beyond my normal 5:35 AM wakeup time- he did not like that a bit. He knows he gets a teaspoon of Fancy Feast in the morning and he was not wanting to wait a minute longer. In the evening I decided to try brushing him to see how far I would get without him trying to swat at me or bite- he amazingly let me brush him including his tail. He did not want me to stop!

He is still trying wholeheartedly to make friends with Gidgette, the other feline. He needs to learn some manners when it comes to playing. He can be a bully. With the dogs he seems fine.

Very talkative. Loves company, including children over 5. He also is more Christina's companion than Carroll's. But she spends the majority of the time giving Mishka the strokes he so deserves.

Sept 20,2015
Mishka has stolen our hearts- including the other fur children here. He is a talker during the night- I guess he thinks we will get up and give him a treat. ( Smiley face). He is doing quite well and has adjusted to his freedom beyond the cage. He will allow Christina to pick him up ans set him on her lap. If she is laying on the floor he will lay on her stomach and knned her her. Aww so cute a rewarding. He likes to cuddle and sleep in Carroll's chair, as well as on our pillows.

He met his new veternarian last week for his annual checkup and shots- Dr. Moseley at the Hope Animal Clinic- they get along nicely. We have been taking him there for nail trims. We also take our other fur children here also and am very pleased with the care, caring and devotion of this practice.

Mishka weighed in at slightly over 14 pounds. The vet looked him over well and assessed that he is in wonderful health, including his gums. Dr Mosely also noted how attentive Mishka is and that he is more dog-like than cat!!!

We so enjoy Mishka.

9/2017 Wellness visit: Wanted to update on this years Wellness Vet visit. 9/2017. Mishka is doing well.
eating well, getting along with his fur friends and human owners, and guests. He enjoys sitting on our laps at night and talking to us during the day. He has made wonderful progression. More than we had hoped for- so we are all very happy. Weighing in at 13.5 pounds. He is not due for Rabies vac until 9/2018. Feline FVRCP/leukemia vac due 9/2018

BUTTERSCOTCH
I am a red hot flame guy and I think since my name is Scotty someone is going to BEAM me up real quick. Foster Mom says I am pretty purrrfect but I need to tell you about me. I am only about 1 &1/2 years old. I am front paw declaw. I have excellent manners and I very easy going. I just LOVE everyone. I have never met a stranger. I love to play but I also like to snuggle. Foster mom is mushy and holds me like a baby and kiss my face and tickles my tummy.
She says I wont have to wait too long for that furever home. I hope that home is with you!

Butterscotch was perfect for us. We feel like he loves us both the same---no favorites!! He is doing very well. We play with him a lot, & talk to him all the time whether he understands or not. He has good manners but still tests us every now & then to see if maybe we forgot counter tops are a no no. It's only been a month but it seems like he's always been here. He was meant to be ours & I'm so glad I was able to adopt him.

We can't believe its been 6 months since we brought home our little bundle of joy. He still jumps on the counters but I think its to be with me when I'm preparing dinner. I just wash my hands & put him down with a "no". He's really a spoiled brat (our fault of course). He is always with one of us. Follows us around like a dog.
He loves to go out on the screened in lanai & terrorized the little lizards. He's had his first sleepover! He brought in a lizard one day & it must have gone under the sofa. We couldn't find it & assumed it ran out the door but Scotty had it under the kitchen table the next morning--still alive & very grateful when I put it back outside the lanai. I am glad he only plays with them & doesn't eat them. He's brought in frogs too.
We celebrated his 2nd birthday---his godmother brought him treats. He has gained weight---is about 14 lbs. now.
I often wonder if he would like a playmate, but we are usually here to entertain him & besides, I can't imagine there is another one just as sweet. I am so glad I browsed your website last summer & found him. We love him.

Scotty is doing great---can't believe its been a year already. He has a playmate now from a local shelter. I checked Siamese Rescue first but there wasn't a declawed cat available near his age that was transportable. Ollie is 5 years old and they believe he is a Turkish Van. His fur is like a rabbit--if you google that breed it looks like him. It didn't take them long (like 2 days) to accept each other. Just a lot of hissing & growling the first night. I was extremely careful that Scotty would be ok with this & would have returned Ollie but they are good.
Scotty had his checkup last month because we had a flea problem & the normal topical treatments didn't work on him & the fleas really liked him best!!! We had to give them Comfortis & I am hoping it is not harming their health in the long run. We even had Terminex spray the lanai area for fleas but are keeping them in for a while because the vet said the fleas are really bad this year.
I sent an email to Shirley after I got Ollie but didn't receive a response. Hope she is ok & just very busy.
Scotty is still a very sweet little boy & we are very glad to have 2 really good cats that get along well.
Scotty is doing great--sweet as ever. We are snow birds now & on our drive from FL to MD he waved to Shirly Bo in NC!! It feels like he"s always been with us & is a very good boy.

Scotty is doing very well & as lovable as ever. We are so happy we found him & vice versa! He had his checkup in MD this year & the new vet thought he was such a love. He's so easy to get along with. Can't say enough good about him. We love him.

NIAMH
Senior Sweetheart Seeks Retirement Home

I am a super sweet geezer who just wants to cuddle, purr, and get pet all day! I like to investigate and sniff around from time to time, and looking out the window is fun too, but mostly I just want a nice quiet place to hang out with someone willing to give me lots of love and attention. I love to lounge around on lots of soft pillows and blankets and cuddle with my people. Other animals might be OK if they keep to themselves and let me have lots and lots of time with the people.

I love to climb on you and rub on you, and I am a big kneader who loves to purr - I will let you know when I am happy! I may not be too playful, but I am great at hunting the humans in the house down to let them know I need some attention!

If you are looking for a sweet retiree to spend some quality snuggle time with then I can't wait to meet you! Bonus points if you have some seafood flavored food or treats for me, I love those!

Notes from Home
Thanks for asking how things are going with my new girl. Things have been a bit hectic here since she arrived because her brother Fergus was diagnosed with diabetes the week she arrived, and a few days later her brother Aengus had to go to the Veterinary emergency clinic late at night for a mysterious ailment. All is calm now and I can focus on the integration, which is going slowly but well.

I must say I believe I won the jackpot when I adopted Yum Yum. She is a delight. Talkative, interactive, smart, spunky. Her appetite has improved greatly and she now eats food with chicken in it; I wonder if she was so picky because of her teeth? My vet checked her over and felt her oral surgery had healed well.

I've changed her name, by the way. I give my cats Irish names and so she has become Niamh (pronounced Neeve) and answers to that name, comes when called. Her brothers, especially Aengus, want to be friends, but she warned them off with loud hisses when I first began introductions. She has progressed to sniffing noses with them, then drawing back and hissing. They don't respond! Aengus in fact seems disappointed. He chirps and trills at her and she is warming slightly to him.

She insists on sleeping with me, which is fine, but has effectively taken over the upstairs of my apartment, banishing the boys from that part of the house for the most part. They do leave her "messages" by using "her" litterbox, though, as well as theirs in the bathroom. She is reluctant to come downstairs to the ground floor but we are working on that. She comes down the stairs though, pokes her head through the bannister, and watches her brothers, and also talks loudly to me. I am going to try to upload some pictures of her in her new home.

Thank you for reminding me of my girl's first "Gotcha!" anniversary! Niamh is doing marvelously well. What a difference a year makes! At first she claimed the upstairs of my townhouse, afraid to come downstairs where her brudders hung out. Well, she has now claimed the downstairs, and the boys have moved their headquarters upstairs. They do travel down to the main floor to check out the food bowls and window action (birds! woodchucks! squirrels!) but this is clearly Niamh's territory now. I miss her sleeping with me, though, upstairs. She has had her annual physical, and we have increased her thyroid medication, which has helped her heart rate and weight. She is a very talkative and interactive girl, loves visitors, and enjoys snuggling in my lap. I love her to bits. I'm going to post some recent pictures to show how she's acclimated to her new home in Maine.

LILY
Foster Mom and Dad say I am just the sweetest kitty ever! Foster Dad kept me company last night... cuddling on the bed and watching TV... his best work... I did not mind... I like to be with people. I should meet the other house kitties soon so foster mom will know what I prefer... with or without?

I am as sweet as they come with "fairy dust" on my face and ears and some on my feet. Yes, I am kitten sized. Want to dance among the fairies with me? If you see my video you will see I have somewhat of a foot fetish ... I love attention!!!!

Notes from Home
So it is just 2 weeks since I brought Lily home but it seems like she has been a member of the family for months. It has been an incredibly easy adjustment for Lily and for Bob and Debbie. From the first morning when she escaped from the bedroom as I was leaving to get their breakfast and she literally ran over Bob in the hallway they have been friends and playmates. Even though he is twice her size she thinks that she is the boss and Bob indulges her. Debbie discourages Lily from trying to engage her in Play with a few hisses but she doesn't mind being close to her at times and once I even caught Debbie licking Lily on top of her head. Not bad! Anyway Lily is a sweetheart and very at ease and self confident. She loves watching the birds and the chipmunks at the bird feeders. She is very playful and busy and curious and fun!

It's hard to believe that it's the second anniversary of Lily's adoption. Thank you for the reminder Loralee and Barbara! All is well. She had her annual vet checkup last month. She is a healthy kitty. She gained a couple of pounds. I may have to cut back a little on the Temptations chicken flavored treats which she LOVES! She also loves cardboard scratcher beds. Barbara sent her home with one and she has gone through several more. Lily and "big brother" Bob still enjoy playing and snuggling together.. She and "big sister" Debbie coexist peacefully with only an occasional hiss. Lily is a little sweetheart and I'm so happy to have her.I thank Barbara and Loralee and everyone at Siamese Rescue!

CORALINE
NEW PICTURES! I'VE GOT FIFTEEN NEW PICTURES! Anything to get noticed - I'm a sweetie, a cutie and a beauty too. I love people, I love other cats and I can even put up with dogs if they're nice to me. I'm playful, I'm happy and I'm well-mannered with my dinner and my litter-box - what's not to love? When I arrived in foster care, I was a wee little thing. Now I'm a big kitten and ready to come home - so c'mon, can't you tell I'm giving you my best "Take Me Home" look? Ask about me now!

Notes from Home
We are celebrating Coraline's 8-year anniversary today. Coraline has had a bit of a rough time lately; she was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis after she began severely overgrooming. She is on medication and has a variety of colorful jackets to wear while her belly heals. Other than that, she has been doing well (except for being a little on the "fluffy" side). Coraline has brought us so much joy over the years, and we will always be very thankful that she came into our lives. We love our sweet girl so much!!!

SIMON
I've been very lucky so far. Me and a bunch of other kittens were found in a storm drain, and rescued before anything really bad could happen. I got very scared, very hungry, and covered in fleas, but that is all fixed now. I've gone from being a terrified little thing to a purry and bold kitten. I just got to foster mom's on Sunday after a long car ride, and even though she gave me a terrible bath, she wrapped me up in a soft towel and held be - and I started to purr. I need to get a little bigger before I can go to the vet to be 'fixed'. Didn't know I was broken, but that is what she said. And in a few days I will be allowed out to play with the big cats that live here, I am sure I will like that. More about me later, and some better pictures too. I'm darn cute, and friendly - and likely to be a bold little guy.

HI All!,

Simon is doing just great in his new home. we have introduced him to my older siamese (Blaze) and it seems to be going well. we utilized the playpen to allow them to become familiar with each others scents for a few days before letting simon out and about. Hes a real explorer with no fear!.

he is eating (alot but not too much), going to the bathroom regularly and def is getting alot of exercise (this guy has alot of energy). the last two nights he and blaze slept in the bed with us (although simon did take blazes spot - mommys pillow)

They play together Alot, Simon is fearless and does jump at Blaze, they engage in play fighting every now and then but as soon as we see any signs of aggression from either of them (ears back, tail fluffed etc) we intervene - usually with a loud noise or something to distract them.

that being said we still want them to interact more under supervision before we are comfortable letting them roam around alone while lauren and i are at work. For now, SImon is in the bedroom (where his playpen is) until we get home. in there he has his own activity tree, litter box, food, water etc.

im sure they would be fine, but ive seen Simon push Blaze to his limits and would rather be home to witness any interaction.

other than those instances they coexist quite well- its not constant play time!

SImon loves his cuddles and purrs like a mad man.. i think he may be teething because he LOVES to munch on things (hence the nickname we gave him - MUNCHIE)

Areas of Concern?
1.Hes stool is on the soft side and has STINKY farts, were not sure if this is residual affects from his coccidia - we have a VET appointment Thursday
2.Play - we hope that we can soon get comfortable to the point where we can let the 2 guys out and about alone. if there are any indicators to look for please advise! boys will be boys we understand, just want to make sure its not an ongoing and never ending worry.

so far he has been amazing and we couldnt be happier. our big guy is coming around more and more by the day and we are thrilled with the progress so far. we want to thank everyone for all the help and work getting him to us!!

i have attached a few pictures as well!

KIKI
Boy do I have some catching up to do. But I have a great set of lungs to scream for my food so I should do it quickly. I love to climb and run.

I won't be ready to go home until at least the 3rd week in August.

I finally hit one pound. Only 2 more to go. I am very happy here as I have 2 other kittens to play with, but I will be sad when they go home before me unless one of these big cats will play with me. The dog tried, but she is soooooooooo BIG that I am sopping wet after. I know she just likes me, but couldn't dog tongues be like my mom's?

Kiki has adjusted wonderfully. She got a bath for the first time yesterday and was so well behaved! She did not fight us or make any agitated noises. She has been such a delight to have. She keeps our male, Xolo, happy and occupied. She had her initial vet appointment on 09/02 and there were no issues whatsoever.

Left in a satchel next to a dumpster, thank goodness someone looked to see why that clasped satchel was moving around! Needless to say I was just a little bit HOT! Now things are looking up, and I'm safe, sound, and of great mind and body - and settling in quickly! Come on, admit it, do I have the cutest face or what????? Hi Folks--Shuey is doing very well. She's had her physical, and after a period of weight gain, she is back to an ideal weight, and I'm very glad! The vet says she's fine…she has a bit of a hairball issue, but we use something from GNC that she REALLY likes. Shuey is highly intelligent, very chatty, playful and sweet she is almost never aggressive anymore and trusts people more and more. We think about getting another cat, but it has taken her three years to be the full personality that she is now…she seems completely contented. She is more of a "mature" cat now…still playful, but not as much as the first year or so. She loves doing yoga with me!
9/6/15
Shuey is doing very well in her fourth year with me. She is an only pet now, and this seems to be her preferred status! This year, we discovered she had a bad tooth abscess, and that tooth was removed. This has really made a difference to her personality, which has truly blossomed. I wish we'd seen that sooner, poor girl, but all is well now. Hope all is well at the rescue center….I wish we could take another cat, but Shuey says "no"--which I'm sure does not surprise you! xo, Edith
9/4/17
Shuey is still doing well! This is her six year with me, and she has few complaints, lol. In the past couple of years, she developed a chicken allergy, so now she gets duck and rabbit...she is immensely satisfied with this arrangement. Still doesn't want another cat...she is unanimous in that, to quote an old British sitcom (Are You Being Served?). I have traveled a lot for work in the past couple of years, and she has found a second home at Old Town Pet Resort in Sterling...she loves it and moans when I come to get her and bring her home. She is the easiest cat ever to keep, and she has become quite cuddly and loving...almost never lashing out or aggressive any more. Hope you are all doing well! Shuey says "meow," which means whatever you want. :-) xo, Edith

LOLA
I am a sweet girl who is a little bit shy at first meeting. I do like to be petted and have my head scratched. Out in the foster room and ok with other cats if they do not get within my personal space I would do well with a moderately playful male kitty. Have met one of the resident dogs who was ok being nearby. So slow introductions with dogs might work. Little children too scary for me also.

We are the best of friends now!  She sleeps with me on my bed.  Loves to play with strings and fetches her favorite ball for me to throw. Lola likes to be brushed and talks to me throughout the day about her needs.

The final breakthrough was being able to pick her for a quick deposit into the cat carrier for a checkup at the vet.  Mission accomplished and she is in excellent health!
