DECLAN
How do I look in this cool little bed? It might be a little small for me but I like it!

Foster Mom can't get over what an easy going fella I am. Nothing bothers me. I love all these kitties that come and go but they go somewhere called their "forever home". How come I never get to go?? Foster Mom says I can go as soon as someone invites me. I don't understand all that but I wish someone would invite me. How about it? I don't think you'll regret it. I'll check my mail box everyday looking for your invitation and I'll RSVP as soon as I get it.

Love,
Declan

Notes from Home
5-4-2016 - I'm sorry to say that I paid Declan's toll for the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday, April 21st. The house just isn't the same without my big burbly boy waiting to greet me when I get home.

10-5-2015 - Declan continues to be my sweet gentlemanly Meezer. After a bout with pancreatitis last fall, we've determined that he's allergic to fish. Removing anything fishy from his diet has him back to his spunky quirky self. He has his cuddly moments and is usually in the same room I am. It's lovely to get home from work and see him waiting to greet me.

10-16-2013 - a lot has changed since the update last year and yet one thing has remained constant - Declan remains a lovely kindly gentleman Meezer. Last October Oliver travelled by Meezer Express from Indiana to join the household and distract Declan from Sesame who was starting to suffer from a neurological disorder. Then, just before Christmas last year, a family of DSH tuxedo kittens appeared in my neighborhood. I was able to rescue two of them with the intent of fostering them for adoption. Foster Fail! which means that Declan and Oliver have two self-activated kitten toys. Declan has adapted to the change relatively easily. Despite Garnett's inability to stop attacking marauding tails, Declan will play and wrestle with both of them, even deferring to them when Da Bird comes out. He really is lovely.

9-18-2012 -- since Nellie passed over the bridge in August, Declan's been working on getting himself a real playmate. So far he's succeeded in getting 'Da Bird" from his meowma and several smacks on the head from Sesame who is clearly not amused. He continues to be very good-natured despite the fact that he's back on a diet to take off the extra pound he managed to put on while meowma was distracted by the old girl. He definitely enjoys our evening sessions with Da Bird, and is pretty canny about whacking it out of the sky. He's also quite helpful at making sure my quilt or knitting projects don't walk away before they're finished.

9-29-2011 -- While Declan entertains and delights the humans he encounters (provided he isn't on the dining table or kitchen counters), Nellie and Sesame agree on one thing: Declan is a big pesty boy! Nellie finds his attempts to groom her very disconcerting and both the girls think he plays too rough. Fortunately he's very good at entertaining himself although his latest toy of choice is shredding the toilet paper in all the bathrooms - confetti anyone?!? One thing all the cats agree on is that "dogs ain't necessary to their happy home."

For all that he can be a big pest, he really is a delight and tries to be gentle with the others. He's not much for lapnapping (except on Granpa) but he likes to be nearby.

10-21-2010 -- Declan continues to be a delight. Nellie's stopped hissing at him but hasn't quite convinced him that she really doesn't want to play - part of the problem is that he takes her prancing away as an invitation rather than a rejection! The other issue between them is Nellie is more than happy to share his food with him but doesn't want to share her food; maybe one of these mornings she'll figure out that if she wouldn't scold me so loudly as we go upstairs with her food, she might not have to worry about it! Watching him tear up the stairs, no one would believe he has a limp.

Fortunately he's pretty good at entertaining himself, especially with the silly blue fish sent by his feline cousins Bella and Bianca all the way from Texas. He enjoys playing so much that I try to spend some time every day playing with him. I'm hopeful that once Sesame's more comfortable, she might be willing to play with him as well.

9-2010 -- In very short order, Declan's made himself at home. This is him in the rocker he's appropriated as 'his.' The limb doesn't slow him down in the least although there are days when it's a bit more pronounced than others (usually after he's spent the day running up and down the stairs keeping track of me). He must listen for the key in the door because he usually comes running down the steps, chirping a greeting! The difference between his rough, gruff exterior and that silly chirp always makes me smile.

Nellie's not his BFF but she only hisses at him on principle these days, or if he persists in trying to tease her into playing. She's become comfortable enough that she'll nose him out of his food while he's trying to eat. And he lets her! My home version of David and Goliath.

He met Dr. Chang last Friday and did well. We're going to try accupuncture as a way to minimize his knee joint pain. He wasn't thrilled about the needles but didn't object except for the one she tried to place very close to the joint.

Foster Mary gives me rave reviews....

Notes from Home
Moca was a handsome and lovable cat who walked into the living room where I kept him for a week, explored it, and seemed to feel right at home right away. His foster mom gave me the bed that came from his previous home and a wicker hut/bed he had slept in at her home. He showed not interest in either so I returned the latter to foster mom, Mary.
After a week I brought Moca and Bella together and they got along fine. They developed one delightful game at the bathroom door. They would be on opposite sides of the door and one would push his paw under the door. The other would bat at it a few times and then the would meet at the edge of the door and box with each other gently and briefly.
The last few weeks Moca was not eating well, so I fed him 4-5 times/per day. I took him to Angell Animal Medial Center and after discussing the diagnosis of jaundice and some 4 different possible causes and the cost of $3-5000, I decided not to have Moca suffer further. He died 5.2.16..

KIWI
Looking for a sweet, quiet gal who loves to drape her long body over your lap? That's me. I'm a long, lean, purring machine! I love to cuddle and nuzzle against your face. I also love to be held, and will relax in your arms.

I am faithful to my litter box, and to my scratching pad.

Ideally, I would love a quiet home with a special person to love me.

I will try this again Kiwi has settled in very well, she plays well and investigates every thing. She likes to sit by the kitchen window and watch for squirrels and rabbits along with anything else that moves. She likes to sit on the back of my office chair when I am at the computer. She also likes to go under the covers on the bed, I had a time changing the sheets the other day as i had CAT LUMPS! She likes to play with her toys, except she ocasionaly looses one of them, especially her mouse.. I will send pictures by regular email as I cannot get them down loaded with your program, I have no brouse-button for my picture file. She blends well with visiters.

MUTTLEY
Like sports? I can run the Indy 500 in no time flat. Like games? I'm a master at Hide and Seek, but I always win. How about Westerns? Cowboys and Indians are one of my favorites. Want to do intraspecies things? I can leap frog with the best of them. You don't need a kitten, or a tv, or a babysitter, when you have me to keep you and yours busy! Congrats Peg in PA!

THOMAS
Foster mom just shakes her head, and says she can't understand why I was taken to the shelter in the first place, and why I'm not on the "pending" pages. She says I am just the nicest, nicest guy anybody could ever ask for. The excuse my former family gave the shelter was "too rambunctious and picked on the female cat". But I'm a good boy. I stay away from the geezer who lives here (I respect her!). I sleep and play with the others here, and even the hissy seal female who foster mom says is a brat likes me. I'm curious, I'm purry, I love attention, and I sleep with foster mom every night. I use my litter box without fail. I'm very brave, too. I caught a mouse for foster mom and dad the other night - so I would protect you too! With all that to recommend myself, don't you think you should ask about me?

Thomas wanted everyone to know how happy he is with us in Pennsylvania!! He is such a character and full of personality! But he does have a little problem with a cat nip addiction...but rehab is not an option at this time as he has cut back on his usage (or so he claims!) We just love him!! Thanks to Siamese rescue for this very happy addition to our family. He is in good company with 3 other Siamese rescue meezers: Amber 13, Toby almost 10, and Henry 8.

This is Thomas' 6th year with us! He is a wonderful Meezer! He still has a little catnip problem, but he tells us it is "under control" lol He keeps company with our 3 other Siamese resucues, Amber 16, Toby 13 and Henry 11. They are so dear to us! Our home wouldn't be the same without them!

This is Thomas' 8th year with us. Where does the time go!! He's doing well and has turned into a real snuggler! He is great company!

IZZY
Are you looking for a sweet, petite, talkative little girl? I might just be what you're looking for. I just arrived and am still settling in. I'm a little shy at first, but just love love LOVE attention. My sister, Babette is my best friend. We curl up together to sleep and wash each other and play together and eat together. We're pretty much inseperable. I'd love it if I could go home with her.
Notes from Home
Izzy is also fine. She is healthy and likes to hang with Theo, another SRC adoptee. She also likes to be combed and sit on us. Do not attempt to pick her up. No luck there. It is like she has no bones. She is a small girl still. Six lbs.
Love her,
Rita and Rick.

Ps thank you, Peggy, for keeping us in touch each year.

ADDY
Hello! How are you? I'm quite the outgoing little miss. I love attention and exploring. Wand toys are just the absolute BEST invention ever! My sister, Chelsey, and I are very fond of each other. I kind of play big sister to her since she's pretty shy. I have to watch over her and make sure she's happy and safe. We'd really do need to go home together. We're so lost without one another. (don't tell anyone, but I cried and cried when Chelsey went to the vet without me and I had to stay behind...) By the way, did I mention that I'm super special...I'm polydactyl (I have an extra toe on each foot) and it's just too cute on a petite little lady like me.

Addy is fine. She had a growth on her face under her mouth. The vet removed it as it had gotten quite big. She is much happier as she kept bumping it. She is more a loner but sleeps between us at night and licks our noses in the night just to let us know she is still there!
Love her,

MURPHY
Lilac Snowshoe?

Gentle and loving for sure!
Notes from Home
McMurphy is a total love machine! He's learned to play fetch, trotting over with his favorite crinkle ball in his mouth and dropping it on our laps to throw again. He also LOVES his snake wand, playing with it so much that it's already had to go in for emergency surgery. He wants to be near us whenever he can. He's up to 4.3lb as of 8/24/15. We're still trying to teach him that counters and kitchen tables are not for kitties, but overall, he's a complete joy. Fingers crossed, we have only seen him scratch on appropriate pads and posts. All he needs now is to be able to play with his sister, Bandit [originally Cymba].

9/22/15: McMurphy and The Pink-Nosed Bandit have been running around and playing together - and loving it! McMurphy is over 5 pounds now and still a great cat. He seems to be off of the kitchen counters and table most of the time (unless food - especially HIS food is out, anyway!), which is nice. His markings are breathtaking and he's such a sweet cat. He burrows under the covers at night to curl up with me, though during the day he'd much rather be perched in the windowsill watching the birds and people go by. He's definitely the more mischievous of the two, but we love him for it. We couldn't be happier!

---------------
4/30/16: McMurphy is a bundle of energy! He's equal parts affectionate and troublesome. He likes getting into and onto EVERYTHING, which we continue to try to break him of but I think he just has adventure in his soul. He likes being HIGH up on top of things and squeezing into spaces you think he must surely be too big for. He's getting pretty close to 10 pounds (if he isn't already!) but, despite his curious nature, he's also an absolute sweetheart. He curls up with us whenever we're home and loves to play. He also loves snuggling and playing with his sister, Bandit; and he LOVES visiting "Grandmom" and "Pop Pop" (my parents) because that means he gets to see his best buddy, their 3 year old Siamese male, Ranger. We were nervous about two male cats spending longer periods of time together, but they have a blast with each other! McMurphy is also much louder than his more demure sister, which I love. They're such a balanced pair of cats, and both so lovable.

-----------------------------------------------------
Bandit (fka "Cymba") is an absolute angel! Liam and I can't get enough of her. She's growing steadily, though she's still smaller than her brother, McMurphy. I can't get over how affectionate she is. She curls up with me every night (sometimes on top of my head) and when you hold her she looks up at you with her big, blue eyes...and you melt. She's also (mostly) well-behaved so far, though I did catch her scratching on the sofa for the first time ever just recently (so I redirected her to one of her many scratching posts), and she's only now learning that the dining room table is not for cats. She doesn't seem to respond to the mason jar of coins we use successfully as a deterrent for McMurphy -- she seems to be a typical female in that regard, just looking at you like, "Why are you shaking that at me?" while going about her business. She's not as big of a climber as McMurphy is, though, so she's mostly content to hang out on ground-level or in her cat tree. She still loves the big, white stuffed mouse she came up with :) She's also a great travel cat. She's had a number of car trips recently, and except for the most recent one that interfered with dinner time, she quietly naps in her carrier until we arrive at our destination. She's amazing!
--------------------------------------------------------
4/30/16 Bandit is our little Princess! She's up to almost 8 pounds and just celebrated her first birthday. She's quiet, affectionate, and absolutely adorable. She is extremely well behaved; the only time she starts scratching where she shouldn't is when her nails are ready for a trim. As long as we stay on top of that, she's great! She steals the heart of every single person who meets her. She gets along well with her brother, McMurphy, and even does well when she visits "Grandmom and Pop-Pop," their 3 year old Siamese cat, and 7 year old dog. What an amazing cat!

BUMBLE
I'm sitting by the telephone, hoping someone dials my number. I tried dialing out - you see I had a horrible experience prior to coming here - my owner passed away and no one found her, and we (my feline sibs and myself) tried calling for help but no one came. So we waited and waited and finally someone came along, but needless to say it was really stressful and sad. So I am REALLY appreciative if you would just pick up that phone and give me a jingle, and maybe a little loving along with it?
Notes from Home
I realize it's been a LONG time since my Beans brought me home, but they've been very busy making certain that my new brother and I are happy and comfortable!

On my first trip to our nice doctor, she found that I have a very irregular heartbeat, and off I went to another doctor, who found that I have Cardiomyopathy (severe scarring and enlargement of two heart chambers) and I will be on daily medications going forward. The meds seem to be helping my heart work a little easier, which makes me feel better and have a bit more appetite, though I'm still a VERY finicky eater (admittedly, I take some pleasure in watching my people jump through hoops to find what I might like next)!

My Beans shower love and affection upon me, which I'm learning is a GOOD thing, and I now seek them out throughout the day, so that they can give me love and treats, which I so greatly deserve!

I love to be up high, and there are plenty of bright, warm, sunny, soft spots all over the house for me to lounge around in!! I also love to snuggle with my brother and love my catnip toys!!

All in all, life is very good here in NYC, and I'm happy with my gentle, loving family!!

Warm Purrs and Snuggles, Bumble

Our sweet Bumble (ne "Smokey" VA 9195) succumbed to cardiomyopathy on Tuesday, October 6, 2016. He and Waldorf were wonderful, sweet "step brothers", who brought each other comfort through their life-losses. We miss precious Bumble and love him always.
