It's been about 9 months now and Luigi has settled in so well. He is such a lovebug and bundle of energy and we love him so much. We were told at the rescue that he didn't really like toys or use them much but within 2 days of being home, he was already a play machine and we've had a tough time keeping up with him. He is definitely a vocal little guy and is very gentle and sweet. He sleeps with us on the bed every night and wakes us up in the morning by laying on our chests and giving us headbutts. We had a hard time finding a scratching post that he liked better than the couch but then we found one that he LOVES. We love it as well since he doesn't even think twice about the furniture anymore. I can't recommend it enough (http://www.purrfectpost.com/). He has been to the vets twice with constipation issues but we finally have him on a great diet that keeps him regular. Within about 4 months of being home, his coat changed and got significantly darker but he's still the playful, loving little monster he has been since day one. Thank you so much, Siri and Deb, for helping us find such a great and fun little guy to share our lives with!

Can't believe it's been 6+ years with Luigi. He's such a great cat and has given us so much joy over the years. He still loves to tell us what's on his mind at all hours of the day and night. He's as playful and as loving as ever. He still sleeps with/on us every night purrs non-stop. We moved out of our apartment 2 years ago and into a home where Luigi has more room to run and chase. He's adjusted great and he has a little perch in our living room that allows him to watch birds. We hung a bird feeder right outside this window and he spends most of the day watching them. We have had to hang our Christmas ornaments a little higher since he has a knack for batting them off the tree and knocking them around the house. He loves getting into boxes and smacking balls around the house and we couldn't love him any more than we do. Thank you again to Siri and Deb for helping us adopt this little love ball.

Just want to touch base and let you all know that Tayo (Tempo) is doing great! He and Hima (Rosie) have really bonded and they are purring machines! Tayo even loves our dog, and the felling is mutual. Hima still isn't sure about our dog, they occasionally touch noses and leave it at that!

Hi all!
Jessie has made huge steps towards becoming an outgoing family cat! She no longer hides at all! She spends a good chunk of her awake time playing with the children or snuggling me. She and Woody play a lot and like to sleep together on my daughter’s bed! They both enjoy each other and occasionally she will allow swoosh to groom her neck. She is very sweet and cuddly now, gaining confidence in her new home each day! Spunky and sweet!

Woody is such an amazing cat. He is settling in so quickly here and seems to love being with us all whenever he is awake!

"My bags are packed, I'm ready to go..."
I don't need to leave on a jet plane, but I'd love to go to your home!
My name is Ellie, but they call me Tank (for the life of me, I really have no idea why). These folks around here are terrific - they bring me yummy food, they brush me EVERY DAY (boy I love that!), they clean up my room and everything. The only problem is, this does not feel like home. I need a place where I can head-butt and purr and drive my race car around an entire house, not just one room. (You dont believe that I have a race car? Just check out my photos.)
As for details, I eat my breakfast and dinner without fail, I use my litter box faithfully, and as I said before I LOVE to be brushed. I only have my back claws but I'm good about getting them clipped. Although I'm not really a lap kitty, I really enjoy being around people. I also come fully equipped with at least 3 cat beds and kitty condos that travel with me!!! They are small, but they are mine (and I love them, too!). I also have my own water fountain, several ceramic food bowls and lots of toys! And as an added bonus, I actually get along quite well with other cats, even the really outgoing but slightly dim Blue-point who lives here (he's the one on the couch in my photo gallery).
The only thing that I cannot live with is a dawg; I just cannot deal with those slobbery, barky things - ick!! Ask Foster Paw to fill you on that (I just do not like to talk about it, but that is why I was returned).
So if you are looking for a solid, sweet, head butting, purring and quietly meowing Tank, I'm your girl! I mean, come on! My bags are already packed!

Hello!
Ellie here celebrating nine years since I came to live in my forever home with Meowmy and Daddy. I celebrated my 17th birthday this past September and I am still going strong! I recently had a Senior Exam (including blood work) with my doctor and she says I am doing very well. She made a little adjustment to my food but it’s delicious chicken and I love it!
Meowmy, Daddy and I are all retired and that means I get lots of lap time and snuggles, especially in the winter when our temperatures go into the minus figures and it snows and snows, so everyone stays home. I have five warm beds scattered throughout the house, upstairs and downstairs. I use them all depending upon the time of day and where the sun is coming in. I am a lucky cat but I deserve it all, in my humble opinion! Daddy feeds a murder of crows peanuts every day. They come to the door from our deck to our kitchen and stand there looking for Daddy until he comes out with their treats. I’m not too happy to see them there and I give them a big Siamese yell to tell them to go away. It’s my job to keep them in line around here. So, I hope all of the wonderful people who helped me to find my Meowmy and Daddy will see this and know that I am doing quite well. Meowmy tells me the story of how I came to live in my forever home, quite often. I love that story and I purr and purr when I hear it. I will never forget all of you who helped me get here and I thank you from the bottom of my kitty heart. Meowmy and Daddy thank you, too! Talk to you all next year!

Hello!
Ellie here! Today I am celebrating my 8 year anniversary of coming to live with Meowmy and Daddy! I am doing very well! My veterinarian gave me a "senior blood work" panel recently and said that I am very healthy for my age. I am glad because I HATE going in the car anywhere let alone to the doctor's office! My life in the past 8 years has been very exciting but I "roll with the punches", so to speak, as long as Meowmy and Daddy are nearby. The three of us took a big leap about two years ago and decided to move to a new (old)) house in historic Litchfield, CT. Meowmy and Daddy did a whole house renovation and it took almost a year to get everything done. Thankfully, they kept our old house until the new one was finished because Daddy said I wouldn't like living in all the mess and commotion. So all three of us continued to live in the old house together until we all moved to the new one. I wasn't too pleased about the new house at first, but in a couple of days I got used to it. Now I LOVE it!! There are so many sunny spots for me to sleep in and lots of windows from which to watch the birds. Speaking of windows, one day I was looking out the French doors to the patio in the back and low and behold a big, black bear was staring at me! I turned and ran and hid in my Millie bed until Meowmy came to tell me the coast was clear! Wow! I also have made many, new friends with all of the men who have been working on our house. Every morning I make the rounds to say hello to them. They like me, too and have been known to bring me a cat treat in their shirt pockets. I love my new friends! So, life goes along slowly for me and Meowmy and Daddy since they retired. I get plenty of lap time and all of my beds and toys came with me when we moved, so I am very happy. As near as we can figure, I'm about 16 years old now, but I'm doing great on my special food and daily dose of Miralax for mega colon. I expect to say hello again next year, God willing! Love to everyone who helped me find Meowmy and Daddy. I am a very happy Snowshoe!

My name is Ellie Martin Johns and I thought I would take time out of my busy schedule to check in and say hello to all my friends at the VA Siamese Cat Rescue Center.
It's been four years since I rode the Meezer Express from Maryland to Connecticut to join my furever family. I was pretty scared when I arrived on that cold January night, but it didn't last too long once I realized I was going to be the 'only cat' and have Meowmy and Daddy all to myself! Of course the bowls of food, the Millie bed, the toys and the good brushing I got from Daddy also helped to make me feel right at home.
I soon settled in and in no time at all I let it be known that I was Head Diva of our little household!
Now I am busy from sun up to sun down with my Meezer duties. I am in charge of greeting the UPS man when he comes to the front door to deliver packages, I run and fetch the puffs Daddy throws for me several times a day, I watch TV at night with everyone and loudly express my political views (meowing at Republicans, don't ask me why), I snack on treats, I sun myself on the porch, I drink from the bathroom faucet and I hog the bed at night as I try to snuggle up as close to Meowmy as I can!
Meowmy says my arrival certainly changed her life and Daddy's for the better, but I didn't do them any favors with the weather I seem to have brought with me. Believe it or not, since arriving in Connecticut, Meowmy and I survived a tornado in the summer of 2010 that passed right through our backyard and took down a 100 year old oak tree! Thankfully, it didn't hit our house as we were home all alone and only had a five minute warning, just enough time for Meowmy to scoop me up, grab her cell phone and purse and head for the basement! It was pretty scary but we ended up just fine. In the fall of 2011 Hurricane Irene came through and we were without electricity for 5 days. Then the October snowstorm that hit the Northeast came along and left us without electricity for another two days! Finally, our weather adventures were capped off by Hurricane Sandy (our house is only 2 miles from the Connecticut shoreline) this past year! More damage and 6 days without electricity this time! I was quite indignant at all of those weather problems because we have a well and Meowmy said with no electricity she didn't have a way to give me a drink of water from the faucet the way I prefer it. But we worked it out when she put me up on the counter by the sink, opened countless bottles of Poland Springs and poured the water in a slow stream so I thought it was coming out of the faucet. I have her trained very well!
I had to really kick into high Meezer gear a month ago. I needed to spend lots of lap time comforting Daddy and Meowmy when the terrible tragedy in Sandy Hook, Connecticut occured. I live about 15 miles from Newtown and Meowmy knew two of the teachers who were killed that awful day. I spent many hours keeping laps warm and being an extra good girl.
Well, despite all the excitement I've just reported on, I manage most days to find plenty of time to nap on the sunporch, to look as cute as possible so I get more treats and to hide my beloved puffs all over the house so I can find them and talk to them at 3:00 in the morning!
I just had my yearly wellness visit this week and my doctor says I'm doing great! I have a tiny case of something called mega colon, but Meowmy puts Miralax in my food and it works like a charm. She is so happy when I use the litterbox now that she does a very silly thing she calls the 'poopy dance'.
So, it has been very nice for me to catch up with all of you, my friends from the rescue today. Meowmy and I sent you some gifts via Amazon yesterday, in celebration of my four year anniversary. I hope the other kitties like them and I also hope that they can all find homes like mine where their people love them and they can enjoy many, many happy years of Meezer bliss.

Hello from me, Ellie! Today marks seven years since I joined my furever family in Connecticut, thanks to all of you! I'm about 15 years old now (so we think) and still doing great! Just had a well visit with my wonderful veterinarian friend, Dr Gould and he did something called "senior blood work". I didn't like having it done very much, but Meowmy was so happy when he called with the results that I forgave him a little! She told me that I am very healthy and that the doctor says he sees no problems with how I'm doing! Meowmy gave me a couple extra treats with my dinner she was so glad.
I have been so busy this past year. Meowmy and Daddy bought a new house in the country and we packed up our old house and moved to Litchfield, CT. I wasn't too pleased about moving at first, but Meowmy tried to make it as easy as possible for me. Most of the big renovation was done by the time I arrived, but there were (and still are) people who are coming to work on my house. I have my own room with my Millie bed, a litter box, my food and favorite toys where I can go to get away from everyone if I get too overwhelmed. There's a comfy chair for Meowmy there too, so she can come to sit with me. I do like the painters, though. My favorite is Eric and he brings me treats in his lunchbox. When I hear his voice, I come running to greet him and everyone says I have a little crush on him (don't tell, but I do!).
Our new house is much bigger than our old one, with an upstairs. I go up and down those stairs like a champ several times a day and Daddy says it is good exercise for me. Speaking if Daddy, he makes sure one of my Millie beds is set up in the dining room every morning, as it faces south and is nice and warm on sunny days. I get in my bed with all that sun and purr and purr and nap the day away! Things are quieting down now as winter settles in, which I love. I watch out the doors for snow because that means the three of us will be home! I love to sit with Daddy under my blanket when he reads and to watch Meowmy from my chair at the kitchen table when she bakes.
Everyone says I'm a real character and a very good girl. I am so loved and grateful to everyone who helped me join my family. Sending a million head butts to thank you!

Six years with Pan, and he's snugglier and sweeter than ever.

I recently read an article about the evolutionary explanation for cats’ “indifference†to humans, and I shook my head, wondering what on earth the writer was talking about. Surely Siamese were excluded from these studies!
At the end of this month, Pan will have been with me for three years. Clever and expressive, friendly with guests, and massively affectionate, he’s every bit the ambassador Siri pegged him as and just the perfect little “dog cat†for me. Although extremely determined about things he values (e.g., food, attention, baskets of warm laundry, snuggling, and murdering that one corner of the living room rug), he’s so completely disarming, that I can’t—and don’t—mind a bit. This cuddly lovebug continues to bring great joy to my life.
Happy Holidays to everyone and their meezers! I still check in with this site regularly and love reading updates from all of my fellow happy adopters….
Pan’s been with me for a little over two years now, and he a joy -- an endlessly entertaining, affectionate, cuddly, opinionated, and sometimes-pushy joy. Literally with the pushy -- his technique for getting me up in the morning is to use his large noggin to pry me off the bed. This year, Pan discovered the lure of high places, honed his vertical leap, learned to open cabinets (uh oh), and had several laid-back and pleasant encounters with a neighbor’s puppy. He’s both fearless and completely free of aggression, except with a corner of the living room rug, which he regularly wrestles into submission.
When I took Pan home, Siri warned me that he seemed very Food Motivated, and this was definitely the case. After years with a CRF kitty who had to be coaxed to eat, it was an adjustment to find myself with this voracious fellow who would happily eat himself sick and] beg (loudly) for more. He gained a pound post-neutering in the few weeks he was at the Virginia Center and another four in his first year with me! Happy to say that in Year Two, a more careful dining approach has built better habits, and with the help of a grain-free, wet-food-only diet, Pan’s shed the extra pounds the vet said he needed to lose, although he remains a very sturdy and delightfully squeezable boy. I just adore him.
December 26, 2012. I brought my Pancakes home one year ago today! He was a sweetheart from the start and just seems to be getting more cuddly, loving, playful, and expressive by the day. I'm grateful to Pan's first people, who raised a good boy and decided he would be better off someplace else. And I'm tremendously grateful to SCRC for picking him up from the shelter, taking such good care of him, and bringing the two of us together.
Febuary 24, 2012. Pan has been with me just about two months now, toggling between boneless Relaxation Mode and "Panzer Tank," in which he dashes around and into everything. This is a boy who LOVES his food, but turns out he also loves this thing called PLAYING FETCH. His expression lights up like a cartoon character’s when he sees THE BALL, and the happy, barking “!!!†noise he makes when he takes off after it is my favorite of his increasingly varied vocalizations. For a day or so, before settling on “Pan,†I’d considered the name “Leo Messi,†after the world’s greatest soccer player; Pan's ball-handling skills suggest it would’ve been appropriate. They also suggest that any mouse who ventures into my apartment is in for a very tough time and is likely to end up dropped neatly at my feet or on the coffee table in front of me.
Pan (FKA Oliver Twist) is three weeks into his new life and an absolute doll – a playful, curious puppy of a boy who is a great leaper and catnip-mouse pouncer, an enthusiastic purrer/chirper, and a championship snuggler. A trip to the vet last week completed Pan’s vaccination requirements and garnered him much admiration for his athletic good looks. My deep thanks to Alexis, my interviewer, and to Siri and the entire SCRC organization.

Sully is adjusting easily to his new home, sibling and parents. He is a very easy going kitty, and it is most helpful that he understands his sister kitty Kayla presently has an upper paw around here, as she lived here first! Because he is so accommodating, she is adjusting nicely and is accepting him as her new sibling with ease. Tonight they sat together on the stairs, awaiting the appointed time for food, so they could go upstairs and get their dinners. They each turned to go up the stairs at the same time, crossed paths and arrived on the landing eager to be the first kitty to be fed! Sully was very interested in the Christmas events, and enjoyed the attention he received from our guests. his favourite spot was on the hearth in front of the fireplace where a fire was glowing. He likes his food, never fails to show up for a feeding once he sees a can in someones hand, or hears the lid pop as is is opened. He also comes when we call him, as does Kayla.
Both kitties are making our home theirs without difficulty, and are adjusting nicely to us and each other.
Sully loves to sit on my husbands lap, and this pleases Kayla, as it leaves my lap available for her. But they do take turns with each of us . We are loving on our furry babies as often as we can, and they in return, provide much love and attention back! They are each a unique treasure, and we love them both very much!

Kayla has settled in nicely in her first 6 months with us, and is a beautiful girl...and she knows it:>) WE are so happy to have her, and she is happy to be with us, which I observe from her choices of places to nap and sleep...on our beds and on our laps! She likes to play with a feather wand when we use it for her, and she likes to play with some small toys by herself, or with us if we toss them to her, and even carries a few favourites up and down the stairs! .She remains curious and likes to investigate a variety of rooms in the house, especially the room where Sully now lives. Before his arrival, she "owned" several rooms in the upstairs and downstairs! Now she "owns" a few less, and "shares" a few with him! During Christmas, she was curious about our guests, but preferred her quiet room to those where strangers sat. Sully on the other hand, was most curious about all of the visitors, and wandered among them, seeking the laps of several! As soon as the guests departed, Kayla made an appearance in the kitchen and looked over all the rooms where the guests had been! Both of them liked the warmth of the fire in the fireplace, and sat contently in the living room long after the guests had departed.

| Is very suspicious until you get to know him, and then he will bond closely with you. Needs a savvy adopter who can be 'boss', otherwise they'll end up with scratches and bites, especially the first couple weeks. On the flip side, he's a bit of a victim with stronger willed animals, so no placement with bullies. |

Celebrating Traveler’s 4 year Anniversary today! He’s found the best spot in the house.
