PENNY
A sweet older lady, a little worried at first, so a very quiet home would suit me well. I'm great in all my habits and come with my carrier, my bed, and a bag of my food. I don't mind other cats if they don't mind me, but am happy to be your one and only - but you have to be ready for me to be a worry wart at first, and then I'll soon settle in. Somewhere someone was unkind to me and made me panic a little at first; as soon as I know it's safe, I'm good!

Checking in with an update on Penny VA11982

Our sweet, older gal has been with us for a little over 6 months, now. When she first arrived, she was extremely frightened, and hid from her humans. After being released from her holding room of 10 days, she chose a safe place to settle in a room that had virtually no human traffic, a chair in the formal dining room. It was bittersweet that she chose the same chair our recently passed Siamese slept on. She was not comfortable being in the same room with us, and would leave if we entered. We kept our distance, respecting her anxiety, but would stop in the doorway to softly speak to her, and let her know everything was OK. After some time, she would hang out in the room next to us, but never in the same room. This slowly progressed to hanging out in the doorway of the room we were in, but not entering, and leaving whenever someone stood up. She was terrified of humans, especially their hands. Knowing this, we did not force contact, but gently guided her to trust us with consistency in our behavior towards her. We noticed that Penny was accessible when our other cat was present, and was very food motivated, so we used that to coax her out of hiding. We were able to pet her briefly while also petting our other cat, or when food was offered. We tried coaxing her out with toys, but she seemed to be interested in only the laser light, so that is our "go to" toy for Penny. After a few months, Penny would enter the room we were in, and sit just inside the doorway. Still, when we got up, she exited. That's OK, we recognize every baby step of her progress. Although we still can't approach her with consistency, she will come to us (at first only when the other cat was present or we had a treat offering), but just this past week she came when I called her name with no other incentive used, more than once. At this point, she will come into the room with us, and approach for attention, but if we move other than to pet, she quickly leaves. She is also sitting further into the room with us, but by no means next to us. Realizing this is a lot of specifics, I just wanted to relay that while Penny is a labor of love and patience, it wasn't her doing, and we are with her all the way. We are delighted in her achievements, no matter how small, and work for the day that Penny feels confident in her environment, and comfortable enough to know her value.

We are open to any suggestions or concerns regarding Penny, and thank you for an organization that is thorough, reliable, and dedicated to the Siamese breed.

BAILEY
Let's see, all about me:

I LOVE people.

I LOVE to snuggle.

I LOVE to purr.

I LOVE to give hugs.

I'm FINE with other cats.

I'm FINE with children.

I went home but the other girl hissed at me, and after a day or so of that, back I came.....

No idea why she hissed, because I'm PURRFECT!

Bailey A.K.A. Coolio is the best cat. He is very outgoing and greets all our visitors. Of course he loves to wash them too. Bailey is a very mellow cat. He likes everyone in the house (tolerates Emma) and was very welcoming to Maggie. Maybe he knew she came from the same rescue.
Even people that aren't cat people like Bailey. He is very loving and enjoys being held.
I can't believe it has been over three years since we adopted him. He's doing great. Thank you for rescuing him.
1/18 Bailey is having some health issues with pancreatitis. He saw a specialist today and will be getting an endoscopy done to get to the root cause. Everyone that sees him just loves him. He’s a love bug. Keep your paws crossed the specialist gets to the cause so we can treat it.

FRANNIE
I'm just a baby, so the big world is still a bit scary to me, but if you'll cuddle me quietly, I'll reward you with lots of purrs. I'm looking for a safe home with not too many noisy, scary things happening all at once where a growing girl can get her beauty rest. Tuna a requirement. Laser pointers a bonus....

ORION
Busy, busy, busy, into and onto EVERYHING, curious, bottomless pit of energy and playfulness.
Also sweet, gentle, cuddly and loving when I finally wear myself out.

No couch potatoes for me! I need a likewise busy household with other playful kitties, cat savvy kids and pawrents that are home a lot to entertain me. I'm for sure going to find inappropriate things to do and get into if left to my own devices.

BUT..... (there's always a but isn't there)

After a month of antibiotics I still have the sneezies and a cough. My terrific vet thinks if may improve some, but will mostly likely be a chronic condition. Boo!!!

It doesn't stop me from wanting to play and cuddle and run and chase.
Momma says I'm incredibly loving and gentle and quite handsome too!

If you think you could tolerate my sneezes and still love me click on that button and we can talk.

I love other kitties, (I came from the same 50 cat hoarder as Malia, Kai and Scooter), and I have no problem with the resident kitties here. The little yappy dogs are ok too. My habits are perfect and I love my food.

Love is in the air at foster mom's house. Since the rowdy crew left Arwen Evenstar and I have found peace and happiness. :) I am her rock and support and I'm teaching her all about toys, playing andthat cuddles feel GOOD. She's not so frightened with me by her side.

Notes from Home
Well, today is our 1 year anniversary. Ming is a very beautiful boy but he seems to be plagued with feline herpes and there are times when he really suffers from bouts of sneezing. Lately, he has been doing a lot better except for the constant sneezing. He gets L-Lysine daily, but it doesn't seem to help. For a while, it seemed like he was at the doctor every other week and on medicine constantly, but now he is doing quite well. We ended up having to change Veterinarians as the one we have was not responsive enough to me, and his new doctor is on top of everything. He even asked me the question "Did you know this cat has no teeth?" Which, of course, was news to me, but he showed me his mouth, and sure enough Ming only has fangs. The doctor said it was probably something that happened to him due to the hoarding situation he was born into, something genetic. Ming eats well and has a decent appetite, and somehow eats both wet and dry with no difficulty, although he is a bit thinner than his piggy companions. He is the most curious and I call him the inspector because he is right in the middle of everything that happens here, and he has little fear, has to check everything out. His favorite toy is this ragged rat/bird that he carries around and drops at your feet for you to throw for him. He had a rough start, but hopefully, his health will improve with age. I love him like crazy. He is the boss.

ARWEN EVENSTAR
I'm the last of the "Lord of the Rings" kittens to be caught, (Legolas, Eowyn and Galadriel are my siblings), We were born under a shed in MD and brought to our foster home in VA.

Gentle, shy and timid, but I cuddle, purr and make biscuits when held. I will definitely need a quiet home and patient pawrents who will help me blossom. I will be so worth the time and effort.

Kitten policies apply and I MUST have another nice gentle cat or kitten in my new home, so don't ask about me if you want just one kitty.

Purrs,

Arwen Evenstar

Notes from Home
It has been a year and Mei Ling is settling in more and more every day. She seems to finally trust that this is her new home and I believe she likes it here. It did take some time for her to trust us and not run away whenever approached. Now she comes when you call her and even knows her name. She especially likes my son because he took extra time and kind of forced her to listen to him when he would scoop her up and give her extra pets and brush her, which she just loves. She has no problem with food and likes everything you give her, and then some. She is a little chunk and runs to the couch to make biscuits whenever you call her by name. She loves her siblings and everyone gets along just fine. Her favorite toy is a little rubber soccer ball and she carries it up and down the stairs, all the while meowing so her friends will chase her. She is very healthy and will be going in for her checkup next week.

SOPHIE
Super well adjusted adapt quickly female, that's rare for a sealpoint girl my age! I walked into the Center and didn't think twice of what's happening here! I am so easy going that the other cats don't bother me, HOWEVER, for some reason I give off a victim cat smell and they easily pick on me, which is why I was given up in the first place. So I think I'd be best as an Only cat. While I'm active in the scratching department I do love my scratching posts. Other than that I'm great in all areas, and again, very well adjusted! So if you're looking for an immediately happy settled in outgoing gal, consider me!

Sophie is an angel, pure and simple. I'd give anything for my husband to be here because they would love each other. She knows how to be on her own when I have things I need to do, but we have our special play times a couple of times a day, and we also have developed our daily routine that she has totally adjusted to. Especially at night, she wants to be wherever I am, which I love. She is a wonderful companion and a comfort. A couple of weeks ago when I had whatever bug this is that's going around, I finally just gave up and stretched out on the bed. She clearly knew something was wrong, and started circling and talking and finally just lay down on top of me. She has very good instincts. Clearly, she and I have only been together a short while, but I can't imagine being without her.

Sadly, Bruno is deceased. He was still so young but he had a pancreatic disease and we couldn't save him. He was such a great guy - a fun, affectionate goofy kitty who made us laugh and gave us many years of joy. We still miss him so much and he is often in our thoughts.

XANA
I am getting more comfortable around foster mom all the time. I purr when I see her and even let her pet me even when she is standing up. I am not too crazy about being picked up and held, but I'll let you do it for a few minutes. I would still prefer a quieter house that is not too busy. So if that describes your house, than ask about me.

Xana, is doing fine. Seems to have some sort of allegy that she taken medicine for, but it hasn't gone away in 2 years, so I guess it's a fact of life. Wherever we are she is. On the sofa between our legs while we watch tv, on the computer stand while we do the internet thing. On the sink in the bathroom while we do our toilet. Helps make the bed. Has taken to having her belly rubbed. Just a complete love bucket.

Sassy talks to Ma with a sweet little voice and lots of purring. She sits on my thigh and watches TV. We like to play with the feather wand and take toys from the basket to show Ma.

Sassy is doing well at one month in her new home. She enjoys bird watching in the morning. There are also many sunbeams to bask in. Her appetite is quite good. Her fav of course is when we all share a rotisserie chicken! She is a dear sweet cuddler.

Jack and Sassy are happily settling into their new home. After exploring the rooms, they spent time sitting on Ma's lap; sometimes both at once. Jack enjoys studying Ma's face up close. He likes pressing her nose with a paw. The morning routine includes bird watching and basking in sunbeams. Life is good

All is well at one month. Jack has established a routine that he enjoys. He likes to bring a feather wand to me in the morning to play. He is fast and furious! He also likes climbing up high on the new cat condo post. He looks very regal surveying his domain.
