TWIZZELL
My name is Peter and I'm staying with Paul and Mary. They find that Peter, Paul and Mary thing amusing.
As you can see....I've decided to be photogenic and Foster Mary can't get enough of the picture thing. I might have to change my mind on that.
I'm settling in and settling down but I'm still nervous about the resident pets...primarily the dog. But this is a big dog who moves fast. Not sure about that. Foster Mary said in the next few days I'll be meeting some of the other four-legged ones. ewwww
She's learning little things about me like every time she comes into "my" room I'm under the covers. So warm. Love clean sheets.
I won't be able to go right home though as I do have some dental issues that will be addressed first (what's a dental?). Unfortunately Foster Mary's vet is very busy and they can't get in me in right away so you'll just have to wait. But it gives her plenty of time to find out about me and other furred ones.

Notes from Home
Greetings from Peter; this awesome animal who we love having in our household. We are mostly calling him Twizzell, after that utterly amazing tale, though his first nickname was Baryshni-cat, because of the amazing leaps into the air! After a cautious start in his new home (I wondered if he would ever be brave enough to come down the stairs) he shares joint ruler-ship with Reebee (if she's asleep, he's in charge). Twizzell has almost full command of the house from the top of the master bedroom closet to the basement. He's still a little unsure about the noises in the kitchen like the coffee-grinder and the ice maker. But if we are in there eating breakfast, after complaining from the family room that we are not with him, he does join us, eats and sits on laps. Peter still loves snuggling under blankets; blankets are carefully arranged on the sofa, and the bed for when he joins us. We are so happy to have him settling in. Twizzell is becoming increasingly affectionate and is almost always underfoot, or on lap now. And of course nothing beats playing with the wand toys.
The ten-day isolation and introduction to Reebee has gone pretty well. While she is an active, playful 10 year old, she's not the play toy he wishes for. Reebee will not tolerate being jumped on. They do very well together running from one end of the house to the other, playing with wand toys and just being close to each other when all is calm.
We are really grateful to have this cat and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped him to his new home.
Name change: Twizzell has stuck! He's the best; and that is not just my opinion, he thinks so too ;) Almost 3 months and he has really settled in. He seems to really know now that he is in his forever home :). He's gained at least five ounces and looks sleek and happy. His coat has gotten thicker too. Twizzell is quite companionable: he keeps me within sight or earshot all the time until he can't keep his eyes open any more and has to take a nap. When I am at work, he happily snoozes on my husband's lap. Wand toys continue to be a favorite (I just bought him "Da Bird" as a birthday present), and he has a talent as "soccer cat" and can dribble balls across the room (so, yes, I bought more ball toys for his birthday as well). Mornings anything and everything is an excuse to dash up and down the stairs, hall ways, and furniture. He gets so excited doing this, his tail puffs up. All is well and happy!

Notes from Home
Paxton is such a love and a real foodie! He is such a good boy. He pretty much owns the house now and plays with two of my cats Sugar Bear and Bagera all the time. He particularly likes the small white mouse toys and a plastic bouncing ping pong ball that makes him leap into the air.
Paxton's second year anniversary is here and he is doing wonderful and essentially is the alpha cat in the house! He is such a love. He continues to be a huge foodie! His favorite thing to open our cupboards in the kitchen and check things out. He still plays fetch with his little white mouse and loves our to wrestle with our other cats. We love him so much!
Paxton's third year anniversary is here and I can't believe it! He is doing wonderful and continues to be a huge foodie. His favorite playmate now is Sheena who used to chase him around when he first got here. They are best buddies now. He sleeps with us every night right in between us. He is our self appointed alarm clock in the morning. A funny thing he does first thing in the morning to wake us up is climb up by the headboard of the bed and make the picture hanging there move like it is going to fall on our heads. This is guaranteed to get us up. LOL He is such a love!!!
Paxton's fourth year anniversary has found him in wonderful health and a constant lap kitty. He is the first to the food dish in the morning! His favorite toy is a feather boa on a stick and he can jump really high when he wants to. He has figured out how to open every kitchen cabinet and is especially fond of the china cabinet. On more than one occasion, I have found him curled up inside the drink glass cabinet behind the glasses! Such a prankster he is! I have to hide the butter dish from him when cooking as it is like a beacon light for him to zone in on. All in all, he is the most wonderful little(not so little now) red head we have ever had!
Paxton's fifth anniversary finds him as wonderful as ever. He is a love and constantly on my lap when I am in my easy chair. We added another kitten to our family last year. Her name is Gracie and a friend at work found her out behind her condo in the woods and couldn't keep her so we rescued her. She is a gray young lady and very playful. Paxton and she just love each other and constantly are running around the house. Unfortunately, we lost our remaining labrador, Eddie this past year to cancer, so no dogs in the house for the cats to torment. All our other cats are fine and playful as ever.

Notes from Home
3-1-13 What a sweet, cheerful little cat. We've renamed her Moka. Everything is going well so far, very early on. She's relaxing, playing, snuggling, napping, and eating very well.
3-11-13 Dr. Cox met Moka today; he was smitten, said she's in A+ condition. He was VERY impressed by the records forwarded directly to him from SCRC. "By far, the most organized and professional rescue group I've seen." Meanwhile, slow integration continues well at home.
3-21-13 Moka follows me around the house, likes to get into whatever I'm doing. She has so many affectionate behaviors I have to believe that she had good humans who loved her, before she got lost. Moka and Moet have initially agreed to share the house, though they are 'careful' around each other. We'll see how that changes.
3-26-13 - After a month with us, Moka would say that she knows we really love her. Her cheerfulness and good manners are striking.
8/26/13 It turns out that Moet, at almost 19 years old, who suffered a new bout of intestinal lymphoma in April, frail with this illness (controlled by meds for now), wasn't interested in becoming buddies with another housemate, as she did so well before with sister Sasha, and meezers Nina, Thai, Jeremy and Carrie. So we use time-sharing: Moet gets to wander around the house at night while Moka stays in the bedroom, while Moka has the house during the day and Moet rests in her bedroom. Not ideal, but it works.
10/19/13 Moet died two weeks ago, just shy of her 19th birthday. We are all very sad, but she had been ill for a long time. Moka is now queen of the realm and she's become more relaxed and more affectionate. We have a Sealpoint Female Diva to rule us. May her reign be long and healthy.
3/10/14 One year anniversary! Our vet doc says Moka is in fine health and he's glad we're maintaining her at a good weight, just under 7 lbs.
3/13/15 Two year anniversary! Dr. Cox says Moka is in fine health, at the same good weight, but has tartar under the gum line and gingivitis. He suggested we start a daily teeth cleaning routine. Once she's gotten used to tooth brushing, she'll get a full dental, so that when the tartar's removed, we can keep it under control.
9/1/15 Moka had her dental in June, and I'm brushing her teeth every day! At a follow-up appointment last week, Dr. Cox found her gums to be in pretty good shape, and added a veterinary oral hygiene rinse (wiped on with a gauze square) to our daily routine. Moka has learned to like the whole experience, having decided that getting some treats is worth having her human fiddling around in her mouth for less than a minute.
3/23/16 Three year anniversary! Dr. Cox says Moka's gums are in excellent condition - a real payoff for the daily toothbrushing. Moka continues to relax and develop more attachment behaviors.
3/18/18 Five year anniversary! Moka has continued to relax and trust; new behaviors include getting under the covers with Meowm at bedtime to get her tummy rubbed. During the day, Moka likes her tummy stroked gently for as long as we are willing! Moka is increasingly interactive; she makes polite but clear, vocal requests for playtime. She is healthy, at a good weight. At last year's vet visit, Dr. Cox said her gums were beautiful. Her annual visit is scheduled for June.

PIPPI
I am a beautiful little purring bundle of energy.
Full of life and determined to enjoy every moment. Most of my day is taken up with running, jumping, playing and non stop exploring.
I started life living on the street, so need a nice warm home, a family to love and adore me and another young sibling to play with.
Then all my New Year wishes will come true!

Pippi is such a confident little thing and an absolute joy to have in our lives. We feel very lucky to be her parents. Pete immediately taught her to play fetch and it's her new favorite game! Well, it was until Darrin arrived, lol. Neither of them have much time for us now. They are playing with each other all day, every day. They only want to be with us when they get tired and are ready to nap. I'm a little sad because Pippi does not lay on my chest or knead anymore, but I'm sure that's because she is enjoying her new buddy. They both like to sleep on my lap and rub against my legs, and escort me to the bathroom, so I know they like me! Lol

CYAH MEEZER
OOPS!! Foster mom is not very smart. She thought I was a girl when I am a boy! But despite the change I am still a sweet lovable kitten who loves to play and have fun! So ask about me and I really need a play buddy to keep me out of trouble.

Cyah Meezer is getting longer and taller. He has adjusted very well to his new home. All of his siblings interact very well with him and play very nicely too. He continues to sneeze . He has another appointment next Saturday with the vet for a vaccination. I am going there today to pick up his sneeze medication and will ask if there is anything else he can have. Our other two cats have been sneezing as well. Cyah is a fabulous kitten. I am very grateful for him. Thanks to all that help Siamese cats find permanent homes!

3/15/18
Coco is still a wonderful and loving kitty, and great friend to big brother Spike. She had her yearly checkup around January and everything looked great. She's still a little skittish when there are loud noises (thunder, children, etc) but doesn't take too long to come back out. We recently moved to a new house and she adapted very quickly to her new surroundings. Her and Spike still get along great, and we often find them cuddling together on the couch sleeping or grooming each other. She's a big lap cat now and loves getting belly rubs. Overall she continues to do very well and we're so happy to have her in our lives!
3/13/17
In just a year's time, Coco has become completely comfortable in her new home and seems to be very happy! She still loves cuddling and grooming Spike, and now he even does it back to her! They even play with each other and chase each other, which is not something Spike would do on his own (he's more of a lounger :) ). She now loves being picked up and held for a long time and is always on our laps when we're sitting on the couch. Health-wise, she just got her yearly physical and got her 3-year boosters. She has continued to have issues getting rid of the roundworms, but we have her on a 6-month regimen of Revolution now which we hope will take care of it once and for all. Overall, she seems to be doing very well and is a super happy/playful/cuddly kitty :)
9/13/16
Coco has gone from a scared little kitty who wouldn't come out from under the bed in her isolation room to a playful, loving, and happy cat! She's still a little skittish and hides when there are loud noises (thunder, fireworks, vacuum cleaners), but comes out quickly with little coaxing after it stops. She used the litter box very well from the beginning and continues to do so, though she has a bad habit of playing in and around them, scattering litter all around! Fortunately a broom solves that problem :) She's the most playful cat we've ever had but is more than able to entertain herself if we aren't around.
Health wise she had some issues a month or so after we took her in. She continued to butt-scoot for longer than we expected, and eventually we found out she still had roundworms despite being treated for them at Siamese Rescue. We went through 2 rounds of deworming and now it seems she's worm free. Otherwise her health is super and the vets love her! She's also getting better about having her nails cut, though she still doesn't love it; we give her treats afterwards so it gets a little better each time :)
Coco has gotten along very well with our older male Balinese (Spike) from the beginning. She almost loves him TOO much! She sometimes grooms him to the point where he growls at her to leave him alone, but if he's really had enough he'll let her know with a little swat and then he'll just leave. Most of the time now they groom each other. She also loves to do whatever he is doing; if he's eating, she would like to eat too. If he's drinking, she'll try to drink out of the same bowl. She's even started being more vocal with us and I think it's because he's an extremely vocal kitty and she doesn't want to be left out of the conversation :)
At first Coco didn't really like cuddling with us on the couch or being picked up, but even that has turned around in the last 6 months. She now comes up almost every time we're on the couch to lap sit or just sit near us on a blanket. She likes being picked up, but only for a short amount of time usually. She's a huge cuddle bug now, and we love it!
Overall we're so happy to have Coco in our lives and very grateful to Siamese Rescue for pairing us with her. She's a great companion for Spike and brings energy and joy to our home. Thank you all again for the great work you do helping animals and people!

Notes from Home
I can not even begin to say how happy I am with my beautiful kitty Zephyr(Ben) or Siamese Cat Rescue! Thanks for bringing us together and thanks to all the great people who made this happen. What a great experience this has been for me and Zephyr too. He has integrated smoothly and effortlessly in to our home and he and Ari are fast friends. Most people ask if they were litter mates! Zephyr is indeed a lover boy, he is friendly, sweet, and very playful. He is still enjoying belly rubs( as am I, one rarely finds a cat who enjoys this). I named him after the west wind because when I first brought him home he was every where at once very fast for a kitten thought he might be part cheetah! Although he has calmed down he is still as fast as ever playing chase with Ari. I am so pleased to give this wonderful loving meezer a forever home. He and I (Sonja) bonded right away and Steve adores him. Although Ari lets him know shes the Queen of the house he seems to take this in stride and just love her up. Both kittens are growing up sleek and beautiful and FAST! I am uploading pictures for your viewing pleasure and will do so again when he is bigger.
Thanks especially to Dave and Christine for being so informative and personable you both are marvelous at what you do everyday!
Hello to all at Siamese rescue;
I am writing to give Zephyr's 6 mo update (sorry late). Zephyr has integrated into our home seamlessly. In fact he has quietly us wrapped around his paw. He is a fun loving affectionate boy who is extremely curious and adventurous. He is grown a great deal and is becoming a full grown meezer. He manages to allow our other cat Ari to be the queen without dominating him (quite a trick really). Zeph is an active healthy cat and very playful. I would like to mention that we pretty much solved the digging issue in the litter box by getting a covered litter pan. He still digs but less mess. I would say his most prevalent traits are a) his clown like silly behavior b) his curious adventure seeking c) very affectionate belly rub loving snuggle cat. OH and what a climber! I am so grateful we invested in a floor to ceiling cat tree on eBay or I would be in fear for the drapes hahaha. He has become very curious about the outdoors and I have sent for a cat walking jacket for him. I researched this and found an excellent solution for us to walk outside and get much needed exercise while being safe and supervised. Why should dog owners be the only ones to walk their pets! I believe Zephyr is an excellent candidate for this with his easy going adventurous nature. I am very excited about this and will update date you on his progress as we go. He is also an escape artist ie: no collars for this guy! he manages to get them off in less then a day now so the velcro closure on his new jacket seem promising and escape proof. I would like to thank you all again this is a wonderful organization and I am proud to be a part of it. please enjoy these photos
4/13/15- Hi, We are almost at the 2 year date anniversary with Zephyr. I wanted to let you all know how much we love having him as part of our family and that I personally consider it one of the best decisions of my life. Zeph continues to be a happy healthy cat. He is still a big love bug and a big mischief maker! We have to keep our toilet paper in a Zephyr proof container! According to our vet he just passed his 2 year birthday and we celebrated with a new cat cube and some cat nip. This year I am entering him in the calendar contest because he is SO handsome. wish us luck. Thank you again
3/14/2018 I Zephyr is doing amazing for the most part! We had a UTI issue this year we are in the process of addressing, with medication and a change in food he is responding well. This boy is a TALKER! as meezer lovers you know what I mean. Although I love him to bits and knew first hand what I was in for, I am sometimes concerned about what would happen with him if he had to be rehomed and I want you at the Siamese Rescue to know from me he is an avid "talker" and should (heaven forbid) the need arise please place him with someone who with be patient and understand that he is more then worth listening too! He is a smart loving cat who greets me at the door when I come home and we have a very strong bond. He is very active and I have taken to harness training him to get him proper amounts of exercise in a way that doesn't breach my contract and keeps him safe and healthy and happy. I got a harness online from a serval lover who makes harnesses that are hard to escape from. Zeph is a little houdini and no collar with stay on him long. Zeph and his sister are both indoor cats that get fresh air on harnesses and leashes. He is well trained and took to it like a dog. His sister is much more "cat" like and is more shy and stays close to us and the door. Zephyr will trot around the house sniffing and sometimes chews grass. This exercise seems not only appropriate but necessary for his well being, He stays in shape and is calmer and more playful with the right amount of "walking". When for instance weather or my busy life make it hard to get him exercise he can be restless, disruptive or even destructive( he shreds paper for 1 thing, fights with his sister for another). Over all he is gotten quite large. He is a fun loving happy go lucky cat most times and is a joy to have as part of our family. Thank you as always! Sonja

POPPIE
I am such a friendly fellow who loves to sit in your lap, snuggle up with you, and get lots of pets! I just love to follow people around and see what they are up to. I will be sure to let you know by patting you if you have left me for too long without any attention too, just a gentle reminder of course :)
Cuddling up on the bed with the humans to watch a movie or read a book is one of my favorite past times. I love nothing more than to nap on your lap or next to you and will purr away as long as a human is near me. I love to watch the birds and critters out the window from a comfy perch too.
I can't see too great out of my right eye since it is a little clouded over, but I get around just fine and have no qualms about jumping right into your lap!
If you're looking for a pretty chill guy who is looking forward to spending the rest of his life relaxing close to his people, I would love to meet you!

Notes from Home
It's only been two weeks, but Popcorn is already a special member of our family. His new cat housemate, Mouse, isn't all that thrilled to have him, and he wasn't too happy to learn there was another cat on the other side of the bedroom door. But, they've both pretty much decided to stay out of each other's way--unless my mom or I wander past the treat jar.
Popcorn (or Poppie, as we've been calling him) settled in very quickly. He's curious, playful, loving, and really insistent that he be fed frequently. (That voice!) He likes to sleep on my bed at night, except for those times he feels the need to go "on a tear," usually around 5:30 in the morning. (Again, that voice!)
He's enjoying the spring weather, especially since it means he can sit in open windows and watch the birds and squirrels outside. He likes to play with the crocheted wand toy his foster mom sent home with him; we have a daily play date. He is also very much a people cat. We had company the other evening, and once everyone settled into a chair, Poppie made the rounds to introduce himself.
He also had his first trip to his new vet, and he behaved like a gentleman until they shoved some nasty medicine down his throat. He's unfortunately lost the sight in his right eye, but it doesn't seem to slow him down. Other than his cloudy eye, your would never know from his looks or his personality that he had been through some rough times in his life. We're so thankful that someone rescued him from the streets of North Carolina and turned him over to the wonderful folks at the Siamese Cat Rescue Center, so he could finally make his way to our home in Maryland. We're smitten!
Update at one month: We're still smitten, of course! Poppie is a smart little guy and already has us figured out. We still are learning new things about him every day. Like how he can't stand closed doors and wants to see what's on the other side of each one. And how he has a real sweet tooth. And how he must have been quite a hunter when he was living outdoors, considering how he likes to chase and carry around his stuffed mice. And how he really doesn't like being left alone for any length of time.
The biggest surprise has been in how he interacts with our other cat, Mouse. He's pretty jealous! Fortunately, she doesn't take any "stuff" off him. They've had a few boxing matches, but he seems to know when it's time to back off. I'll try to attach a photo of one of their more peaceful moments. Mouse is sleeping in the window; Poppie has claimed the prime spot on my mom's bed. The other photo is of Poppie in his favorite spot--sitting by the treatment jar waiting for one of us to go by and open the lid. (He managed to get his head stuck in it once. Fortunately, the jar weighs more than he does.)
I can't imagine how we got along without him!
Update one year:
Popcorn (Poppie) is a full member of the family. He's always looking for a lap...or for treats. He's playful, talkative, and funny. He pouts if we leave him alone too long. We've reached a detente when it comes to giving him his daily medication. He only hides under the computer desk (forcing me to get out the vacuum ckeaner) about once a week. The meds keep his stomach issues in check, and his appetite is good. (His poops can still clear the room, though.) Mostly, I love to stare into his big blue eyes. I like to think we're sharing deep thoughts. I'm pretty sure, though, he's just telling me to either sit down for a nap, or get up for some treats. Thanks again for a match made in heaven.
