SHANTI
Hi, I'm Electra. I'm a cute, fluffy little snowshoe. I haven't been at my foster's for long but already I'm a lap cat. I eat well, use my box perfectly and was even fairly calm during my bath. I'm a purring machine with a beautiful tail to die for.

MANGO
I was found wondering the streets as a stray and taken to a shelter in Maryland. Once there I was neutered, given all my shots and put up for adoption. I found a nice family to adopt me, but sadly after a short time I was returned due to their allergies. Luckily Siamese Rescue came straight away and picked me up from the shelter.

I'm a very confident, fairly small boy, somewhat mellow in the home, but always busy. Enjoy playing with toys, sitting in my cat tree, looking out of the window. I would be fine with another young companion to play with but they would need to be able to keep up with my age appropriate playing and sometimes boisterous young nature.

I love to talk to everyone. Have good house manners and am friendly and outgoing. My ear was clipped when I was neutered, but don't worry, I can hear just fine. I don't mind being carried, as long as it's not towards the sink to have another bath. I do some leg winding, will sleep on the humans bed, but not on laps yet, and lastly, I enjoy my food.

So, if you are interested in me, contact mum and she will give you more information.

Update 4/26/18
Hello to all, as we approach a year with our 2 sweet kitties! Mango is doing great- and while we always thought he was a smart and sweet boy, the change in his trust of us and his surroundings has been incredible. He and Chloe have several games that they play that I don't really understand the rules of: one is nighttime chase (I think we all know that one) and another is one I call "tail under the door", in which he or Chloe kind of whip their tail under the partially closed door for the other to bat. There are many others. He is obsessed with our screened in porch. After it snowed this past winter he cried until we let him go on the porch, where he took one step onto the freezing cold cement and promptly reversed course back through the open door. He has also figured out which vents are heat and which are the returns, and plans his naps accordingly. Mango is very cuddly- he will climb right onto your chest for head scritches and nose rubs, and purrs very loudly. He also is very protective- I had a solicitor come to the door one day and he sat at eye level on the stairs and glared at the man through the glass storm door so fiercely that the man actually asked me if he was an attack cat! He is a wonderful addition to our household and we can't even begin to tell you all of the ways these kitties add joy to our lives.

Our mutual stripy apricot friend is doing very well. After two weeks of integration Mango and Chloe are pretty trusting of each other. For such a tiny thing he has a loud voice and regularly patrols our house, announcing himself into every room.

We feel incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful pair of cats. Thank you to all!

Update 4/26/18
Hello! We are steadily approaching our one year anniversary with both Chloe and Mango. Chloe continues to be a wonderful and sweet girl. She still talks to birds whenever there's an open window or she's our on the screened in porch, and she very kindly eats all of the spiders she finds. She LOVES toy mice and she even talks to us sometimes. Chloe and Mango aren't quite snuggle buddies, but during kitty nap time they can usually be found sleeping on our bed within a foot of each other. Kitty nap time comprises about 60-70% of the day, usually.

Update, 6/10/17
Chloe and Mango are very compatible, and are very content. Please enjoy some new pics!

Hey everybody! Chloe is doing great. Literally, within 3 days it was like she had lived here forever. She is a cuddle bug, loves bird watching through the windows and from our screened in porch, and loves her wand toy.. She's eating about a tablespoon of Merrick canned food in addition to the Bistro.

Mango has been here almost 24 hours. Chloe has been sniffing at the door with no hissing, growling or other signs of aggression.

She is such a great girl and we are so lucky to have her.

Like sports? I can run the Indy 500 in no time flat. Like games? I'm a master at Hide and Seek, but I always win. How about Westerns? Cowboys and Indians are one of my favorites. Want to do intraspecies things? I can leap frog with the best of them. You don't need a kitten, or a tv, or a babysitter, when you have me to keep you and yours busy! Congrats Peg in PA!

SIDNEY
I promise I do have some great baby blues. I am just not ready for a picture shoot yet. BIG sigh of relief though. Snuggly bed, chin scritches, sweet talk. This is the life I need. This lady here says that I am super handsome like some guy named DeCatrio and that I am going to be like this character from a movie he was in. Gatsby? She keeps calling me that. She says I am going to spend my life trying to prove to you how much you should love me and I will be rewarded by being a love millionaire.

Notes from Home
Hello. Sidney has the run of the house and is enjoying his freedom. He is quite chatty and loves to play. He and Layla ( my two year old Tortie Point girl) have been come friends. They play race around the house together and play, but still steep separately. Sidney trusts Layla, but is not yet comfortable with myself or James. He definitely has some people trust issues. When he was isolated, I was able to pet him and he purred and showed me his tummy, but now that he is free to room, he stays just out of my reach. He is a social cat and likes to be around us, he just does not want to be touched yet. Other than this, he has adjusted very well. He eats and has excellent litter box habits.

5/23/16: My goodness, this boy keeps me on my toes! Anything he can lift is a toy. No matter what or how big, if he can lift it, he takes it and then hides it: pens, knick knacks, stress ball, laser point, floral arrangements.....he is a bundle of energy.

Sidney absolutely adores Layla and I am thrilled that they get along so well, but sometimes he is too much for her and she sits by me or sleeps by my feet because she knows he won't follow.

He still has people issues. He runs around like he owns the place and is very confident, but still will not let us touch him. He follows wherever I go and gets within an arms length, but if I reach for him, he retreats. Not far, just a few steps out of my reach. Interestingly, he will eat treats right out of my hand.

He is a little cutie and makes a little progress every day.

August 8, 2016
Sidney has settled in nicely and walks around like he owns the place. He still will not let us pick him up, but he smoozes my legs when I am preparing food or treats and is quite vocal when he wants something. Not a typical meezer cry at all which makes me laugh overtime he does it. I am adding a new picture. He really loves his Millie Bed and does some interesting poses.

October 12, 2016
We have had a major break through this week! Sidney now allows me to pet him on a regular basis and even seeks out attention. He is quite the little schmoozey boy! James is still not allowed to pet him, but he is not afraid of him either. Picking up or touching the head/face is still a no-no. He sleeps curled up against me every night and for the past few days even sits on the couch with us in the evening. I am tickled pink with his progress.

January 10, 2017 - Sidney is really blossoming and is a very handsome boy! He now not only allows me to put him, but also James. In the last weeks he actually has started to initiate contact and actively seeks out being petted. He is still not keen on being picked up, but I no longer have to chase him through the house when I need to pick him up for any reason which is much less stressful for both of us.
Sidney had his own stocking for Christmas and unpacked some of it himself. Lot's of goodies inside. The foil mouse and the meat sticks from Sheba were a definite hit! I have posted pictures.

April 23, 2017 - Wow, it's been a year since Sidney joined our family. He is doing great. I have been gone for the past 7 weeks visiting family overseas which was a great time for him to bond with James. He met me at the door when I came home, but is playing coy right now letting me know he did not appreciate the long absence! Since the day after I got back, he got a mani/pedi, he was even less pleased. Tomorrow he has his annual physical and vaccinations. He is such a little cutie. He is also a little devil how got into everything while I was gone. Tore up the toilet paper in James' bathroom and the extra rolls in the laundry room closet; knocked down all of my shoes; starting clawing the living room carpet, etc. Now that I am home, he doesn't do those things anymore. Guess he was testing his boundaries with James. Will post updated pictures soon.

April 24, 2018 - Sidney is doing great. He has come a long way in the last two years. He had his physical and shots today and is in perfect heath. Even the teeth and gums look good! Lately he has developed the trademark Siamese voice and become quite vocal.

He did great traveling cross country from Virginia to Washington State where we relocated to in December. I have uploaded two recent pictures of Sidney. One sleeping in my reading chair while I work on the computer and one on my lap last evening. He must have been very tired as he never sleeps in that position. 😻

Notes from Home
Xena has settled in very well. She is co-existing with Zeus although not really friendly yet. They pass by each other without any issue and will eat treats together, but if food is not involved Xena prefers he stay at least 6 inches away. Now if food is involved then all bets are off, she's been known to fish treats right out from between his front feet :)
She is getting more comfortable in the house, the bedroom is still her safe room but she's spends a lot of time in the kitchen (i.e. food) and is starting to explore the living room and hang out there some. Also it appears she's starting to use the main litter boxes in the laundry room so I should be able to move the litter box out of the bedroom soon.
The only minor issue is that Zeus is a very slow eater, he takes a few bites and leaves, comes back and eats a few more bites, etc., he can take 4-5 hours to eat a third of a can of wet food. Xena is not a slow eater, she finishes hers and is quite willing to finish his too. For now they are fed in separate rooms and I pick up his food when he leaves and put it back when he comes back looking for more. When I go to work I put his bowl by his bed, if he's in his bed Xena won't go there so the food is safe as long as he's there. They both have dry available all the time but Xena doesn't need the extra wet food - and Zeus does need it, he's smaller than her and very lanky. Hopefully as she gets used to having the dry food around she won't be so determined to eat all the wet food as soon as she can.
She's playing with her toys and using the scratching post and she chatters away when I come home. She was using her favorite box that came with it for a few days but then her millie bed came and she has given up the box in favor of the millie bed. She gets in the bed and kind of lounges over the side surveying everything that is going on.
All in all Xena is a pleasure and was very easy to integrate into the household.

1/13/14 - I'm not positive but I think Xena and Zeus are interacting when I'm at work. I came home last Thursday and Zeus never woke up. I shook his bed, no response. Then I petted him and he just grumbled and burrowed down further into the bed, never opened his eyes. He was too tired to get up for dinner. A couple hours later he woke up and wanted a snack, obviously he had been doing something during the day that really tired him out.
The night before I'd been playing with Xena with 'feathers on a stick' and Zeus joined in. He's much slower than Xena but they both played without any fuss.

Also Xena is starting to relax about mealtimes. She still gets excited but she doesn't always finish everything in the first 5 minutes and then go looking for more. Sometimes she leaves some wet food and comes back later to finish.

The other night she was in the kitchen and suddenly I heard a lot of squeaking. She's found out old country houses have mice. She didn't actually kill one but she definitely put the resident mice on notice that there was a younger hunter in the house. :)

1/20/14 - Xena and Zeus are continuing to work out their relationship. Yesterday she approached him and started sniffing noses and checking him out. It only lasted a minute or two, it is the first time I've seen her make the approach though, it's usually him. She has tried to get him to chase her a few times and he occasionally complies, he's not much of a chaser and usually stops after two rooms. While she wants to run all through the house, up and down stairs, etc.. He's tried to get her to wrestle, she wants nothing to do with that. At this point they appear to have two different play styles and are working out what to do with each other. I have seen him pick up a toy and go over to her and chat, she ignored him so he went and played by himself. His play sessions are usually pretty short 5-10 minutes, which isn't surprising at his age.

Xena did have a couple episodes on inappropriate elimination, she urinated upstairs a couple times. Not all the time but more than once. Since the downstairs is such an open environment and because Zeus uses all 3 litter boxes that are downstairs I thought she might not be that comfortable and wanted more privacy. I got another (4th) litter box and set it up upstairs. She is using it and so far no more 'outside the box' issues. I'll keep my fingers crossed this solves the issue. I've seen her stop playing and go running upstairs and then hear her scratching in the box. Zeus very rarely goes upstairs anymore so she's got a private box now. If that's what it takes so be it.

1/28/14 - Had a breakthrough last night. Xena has been very friendly but she tends to confine herself to the bedroom, kitchen, and upstairs. She looks into the living room and occasionally passes through but that's it. I tend to spend time with her in the kitchen during the evening. Yesterday there was a lot of snow so after work I had to clear the driveway in addition to other chores after work so didn't get into the house until late. I did pet her and talk to her while I was getting dinner, I was tired though and went to sit in the living room right after eating. Zeus promptly crawled in my lap. Xena came and looked in, I called her over but she grabbed a toy and started playing with it where I could see her, chirping away. When that didn't get me out of the chair she made a few run bys, then all of a sudden jumped up onto the arm and sniffed at Zeus, he ignored her. She sat on the arm a few minutes while I petted her and then went down to the ottoman and took a very thorough bath. After that she curled up leaning on my legs and went to sleep. She stayed there until I got up to go to bed. Maybe she's starting to get the idea we can all hang out together, nothing bad will happen :)

3/27/14 - It's been a while since the last update, kind of been buried under winter, hasn't everyone. Xena seems to be fully settled in. Whenever I sit down to relax in the evening she comes running chirping away to sit on my lap, doesn't matter if Zeus is there or not she'll share my lap with him now. At first she was very particular about making sure he wasn't touching her at all, now if his tail happens to stray into her territory it's no big deal.
She's had no more accidents since put a litter box upstairs. She uses it most of the time but occasionally will use one of the downstairs ones.
She's turned out to be a pretty demanding lady, she wants what she wants and there is no compromise :) She has decided she likes duck better than chicken so on the days she gets chicken she sniffs it and runs after me complaining that she's hungry and there is no way she can eat THAT. I ignore her and then to concedes to eat chicken. Poor thing. Also every evening when I get in from doing the barn chores she must have her dental treats. She just must, she finds it very annoying that I take off my boots and coat first.
And she loves to play. Who knew a pipe cleaner would be a favorite toy.
She is really a joy to have around.

6/11/14 - Xena continues to be a joy. She is a smart little thing. With the arrival of spring some bold mice decided to move it. Xena enjoyed this immensely. After she'd catch one she had to sing and chatter for a good 10-15 minutes letting me know in detail how she did it. Unfortunately many of these adventures occurred in the wee hours of the morning. One morning at 3AM I was awakened by the mouse song, got up and disposed of the body. Xena was not done singing, knowing it was a bad move even as I was doing it, I gave her a treat so she'd quiet down. I just wanted to go back to sleep. Next day at 3AM she's singing away again, got up but could not find any body. Then I noticed something on the bed, looked a little bigger than a mouse, check it out and it's a glove. Had to explain to her she did not get a treat for 'killing' a glove at 3AM. Actually she would never get a treat for killing a glove :)
I believe the body count stands at 6 for now. Haven't been any new 'adventures' for a couple weeks. She still prowls the kitchen every night after it gets dark though.

8/15/2014 - A sad update. I lost Zeus this week. He was bright and alert but his body was failing him. He was 19. Xena is alone now. I'm watching her to see how she handles it. She didn't appear to interact with Zeus that much but he was there with her and now she's alone all day. She does come running whenever I come in the house, chatting away and wanting petted so I think she's feeling a little lonely. After a few minutes she settles down and once she sees I'm staying inside she heads off to do 'cat things'. I'll see how she adjusts in the next couple weeks.

1/23/15 - Earlier this week Xena decided she hated the boys, hated them! Not that I really blame her. She consented to let Magnus lay next to her, not cuddling, but touching. Then when her back was turn he attacked her in a full blown wrestle maneuver. Xena does NOT wrestle. There was much hissing, and growling, and yowling. Then she retreated to the upper levels of the cat tree and fumed. If anyone even thought of getting near the tree she made it known they were not welcome. Next morning she was still holding a grudge, no one could come within 15 feet of her. By evening she'd settled down. Then last night she let Magnus lay next to her again, but gave Snarf the evil eye when he was thinking of getting up on the chair. So while I was at work sly little Magnus convinced Xena it was all Snarf's fault :) Luckily Snarf is so easy going he just adjusts, well it looks like she's in a bad mood I'll just walk over here, no big deal. This morning she was letting Snarf rub against her while they were waiting for breakfast so I guess things are back to normal. Xena seems to feel she needs to keep a closer watch on Snarf. Poor Snarf he wasn't even in the room when it happened.

-----
4/24/18 - I'm sorry to have some sad news, there is a good chance that Xena has intestinal cancer. It's either that or IBD, the vet feels because of her age it's most likely cancer. I chose not to do an ultrasound and biopsy for a definite diagnosis. If it is cancer the only treatment option is chemo, considering I chose not to do that there is no point putting her through the tests. We are going with support treatment, starting with probiotics. If that doesn't help the vet said we could try steroids and an anti-nauseous medicine, those would require daily pills or liquid, things she really won't like, so the vet wanted to try probiotics first. She is still quite cheerful and active, eating well, periodically chasing one or the other of the boys around, killing her red pipe cleaners and stuff snake. She had lost some weight and her abdomen felt 'funny', kind of like a water balloon, so off to the vet we went. All of her blood work came back perfectly normal, basically great for a cat her age. Thyroid, kidneys, etc. all normal.

We changed Princess's name to Trillis, because her meow often has a kind of trill to it, and we thought the last syllable is similar to that of Princess . She is much more active than her buddy. Loves chasing the feathered toy on a string. Captures it and won't let go carrying the "kill" under the dining room table. Also loves laps, skylight sun spots and h er very own heated cat bed. Has discovered how nice our sun room is and cries until we open the door for her. One time the temperature was cooler than she remembered, and came back in immediately. She enjoys doing cat stuff with her buddy Schmoozy, too.

Schmoozy has settled in beautifully! We are thrilled to have him!! Our corgi is not as thrilled but is tolerant/resigned (;-)!! We were highly impressed with the efforts it took by all the volunteers (foster, trip mgr and transporters) to get him to his new home. Many many thanks to all of you.

Schmoozy continues to live up to his name one year later. He loves laps, his heated cat bed, sun spots from our 2 skylights, and has his own place at the foot of our bed. His vet is pleased with his health. He had quickly gained more weight at first, but he has since stabilized. He gets along well with his feline buddy, Trillis (Princess) who frequently feels the need to bathe him, until he has had quite enough, thank you.

Hi everyone! Sorry about the delayed update but my “brother” and I have been busy having a great time in our new home. We really love running around our new home and meeting our mom’s grand-dog and our Auntie Alie! The only down side was the visit to the vet for the “check up” and a follow up vaccination (oh well...nice people and we did get extra hugs and snuggles).
Well, we are off to run the house and play with all of our toys! 😻 More later😺

PIKA
Calypso here. I'm settling in to my new digs. I'm a little shy at first but I warm up pretty quickly. I'm tiny compared to my sister, Electra, but I have just as big of a purr motor and I know how to use it. I love to get in your lap and roll around and purr while you pet me. I even like belly rubs.

Pika is doing great! She had her first vet visit and she is 100% healthy and happy. She's adjusted extremely well to our family/kids/dog and has made herself right at home. She is extremely sweet and playful. Her favorite toys are a catnip filled mouse and a string of beads which she just stared fetching like a dog. She will retrieve them as many times as you will throw them, drop them in your lap and stare at you until you throw them again! She really is a great cat.
