Notes from Home
Lara is difficult...extremely SHY, afraid and spends much of her time hiding. She does play well w/Reese and is slowly coming out but bonding w/her is a challenge. She has started to come up to me at feeding time, so FOOD is definitely a way to get close to her! Anyone have any suggestions, please let me know!!

I've come a long way since the above Post. For over 3 months I kept her isolated in her "own room" (Reese would join her for about 12 hours. Every afternoon I would spend 2-3 hours w/her "one on one". Just lying on bed and slowly coaxing her to me. Before long she would come to me and I was able to stroke her and talked to her or sang songs, recited Nursery Rhymes, all in a soft voice and letting her snuggle up. It took TIME to get her to snuggle w/me, gradually she would come up and snuggle. By the end of October I was able to let her out and she was fine....walked around, ate well with other cats nearby. Don't get me wrong, she is till SHY, like Reese, disappears when she hears a strange noise, door bell rings....GONE!

Now for Lara today, Lara-"Love Bug", is much more comfortable in her home. One of her favorite hiding places is under the raised foot rest of my Lazy Boy (NO, I do not release this chair, I have learned to get out of it without dropping the foot rest!) I keep a small blanket over the raised foot rest and she hides/sleeps under my feet.

One year old, looks NOTHING like she did at 6 months. He coat is VERY, VERY dark, still has those HUGE, QUESTIONING LOOK, blue eyes. Small girl, think she will always be a small Meezer. Eats well, knows where her food station is located, eats hers, then checks out what the others have left behind

She will get up on my lap (at her discretion) looking for chin rubs, etc. I see her as a Miracle Kitty, no words to express how I feel about her when she is on my lap and looks up at me w/those HUGE BLUE EYES. Those months of isolation and "one on one" efforts paid off, such a treasure.

Lara loves to carry around small balls covered in fleece, bats, chases, so cute. No problems cutting her nails and attaching nail caps. Guess she likes to be "Pretty". Loves to wrestle w/Reese, then they have a "Lick fest". She accepts some "bats" and good licks from the elder Meezer, SinDee .

Lara is still a very, very shy Meezer. When doorbell rings she disappears and does not come out until the "coast is clear". If family members come to stay she stays under my bed for days. I have to take her food into bedroom, along w/water & litter box. My heart jumps w/joy when she pops up on my lap, nestles into my chin, lifts her chin and wants to be rubbed. Oh, those big blue eyes and she waits for me to recite Nursery Rhymes, we both love those warm, fuzzy moments. Her favorite place is in the kitchen window, watches birds, butterflies, hummingbirds and especially lizards. Her visit revealed that she weighs 12+ lbs...whatever happened to that petite little girl I adopted in August of 2015?

SINDEE
Enjoying the high life at foster mom's is great, but I'm looking for my forever home. I'll give you lots of headbutts and leg rubs, and I'll chat with you and follow you around. Like a bed companion? I'll be happy to oblige. I don't really care about other cats, but I'll live with them if they'll just leave me alone. Foster mom has a dog, but I just ignore her, too. If I sound like the one for you, then ask about me today. Check out my other photos - you'll see how beautiful I am.

Purrs,
Dera

Notes from Home
SinDee continues to do well. She is not letting my other Meezers intimadate her, she walks past them, tail high, just a whisker length between them. In the evening she is very demanding for her wet food. She also likes to run, chase and toss toys in the evening, crazy cat, it's wonderful. Bedtime, she hops up on the bed and off to sleep we go. All in all she is finding a place for herself,

Six years! What a JOY. Still a "CLOWN" does so many funny things! Favorite thing is "chilling" out on sofa, often on her back. Both of her Seal Sisters have gone over Rainbow Bridge and she is somewhat puzzled by this. Is a bit clingy and much more talkative to me.

Seven years...SinDee is doing well, showing her age a bit but she can still chase her Meezer kitties. Very sensitive to my needs, I have been battling cancer, again...she spends a lot of time with me, seems to know something is up, a true friend. She is super friendly, doorbell rings and she runs to greet the visitor, rubbing their legs, etc. People are amazed at how friendly she is and she hangs around, as if she wants to take part in their visit.

AGNES
I'm a sweet Tortie girl, That means I am special because you can watch me change colors while I grow! Be sure to take tons of pictures of me while I am a baby because you won't recognize me in a few years!
I am a bit shy but I warm up to you. I love being petted and I'll 'give you my belly'. Ya know, that is the most trusting thing us cats have to offer.

My latest thing is to welcome Mama home by flopping down on her feet and rubbing all over them.

If you have a friendly, cat lovin' dog, I could learn to love them too.

UPDATE:

There are approximately 365 days to my kittenhood. You've missed 99 of them already.
I've got plenty of days ahead as a gorgeous adult cat, but so few as a pipsqueak.

UPDATE: I am a movie star now! Check out who wins in the Color ball battle.

If you're looking for an active & playful guy who loves people and gets along great with other cats, then you can stop looking cause here I am !!!!
Notes from Home
Simon is a treasure. We took him for his annual checkup with Jackson several weeks ago. Both were pronounced very healthy. Simon and Sammy are best friends. As the two youngsters, they zoom around the house and wrestle. All four cats get along well with only the usual bickering you would expect from brothers! Simon still loves his round toy with the ball. He also has some favorite toys and will sometimes fetch.

Hi all,
Sarafina is doing great. She completely adjusted to her new home. She gets along with both Milo my 10 year old cat and Bailey my 4 year old dog. We are all very happy.
Thanks to everyone who was involved in her adoption and for all the support you have given us. I uploaded a picture of Sarafina, just hope it shows up.

CARA
I'm the slightly more reserved one of the three that came in from a home with lots of other cats. I'd prefer to be the only female cat in the household, but could match with a nice guy, especially if he was cute. Snowshoe gals are smart, curious, interactive and playful, add in a little talking and you've got me! I'm ready to go home next weekend, 8/23, and am hoping you may choose me!
Notes from Home
I am definitely happy to have been rescued out of a hoarder situation with 26 other cats and brought to SRC where Siri helped get me ready for my new home! When I got here, it was kinda late after a long day's travel so I was put in a small bathroom as my "safe room". That was fine at first, but I need loving and wanted to be closer to my Mom. It was OK for the first couple of days, but I decided to dash the door on Day 3 and find out what this place was all about. My Mom says I'm doing great - eating, drinking and pooping up a storm (she really is amazed at how big my poops are - she says for a tiny sprite of a thing, how is it possible to make such big poops...she's too funny...). I don't know how to play with toys, but Mom promised she and my new sister will teach me. Mom did what she tells all her adopters not to do - she let me stay out when I dashed on Day 3 to scope out my new home. My sister Chloe is nice; we kinda look alike a bit. She still growls at me if I get too close, but we were able to rest together (she of course has taken over my Millie Bed as her own) and we even slept with Mom last night on her bed! How wonderful is it to have a new home. I know this integration thing is going to take a while longer, but I already know I'm going to love it here. (Update: Day 4: I learned what a toy was - this is going to be FUN!!!).

September 19, 2014: Well, it's very hard to believe that it's been almost a month already that I've lived with my Mom and my sister Chloe. I am (or so I'm told) doing everything a youngster should (and shouldn't!) be doing: climbing on counters, playing and chasing toys like a bandit, eating like there's no tomorrow, and loving my Mom and sister. I love to wrap myself around Mom's feet and toes as she's walking - she tells me one day she's gonna step on me but I know she won't because I'm so fast. I've also learned how to explore UP...yep, that's a picture of me finding my way to the top of Mom's bookcase. Great cozy spot to hide out, only thing is, I hadn't planned ahead and couldn't figure out how to get down (Mom helped show me the way!). I'm told every day how beautiful and smart I am - my sister Chloe doesn't believe it entirely yet but we have learned how to play together with our cat dancer and wand toys and she's definitely coming around. And of course I'm so smart that I'm doing everything right when it comes to my beautiful sister - grooming her when she'll let me, but giving her a little bit of space when she needs to sleep or when she's not feeling 100%. I'm just one beautiful, smart, adorable little meezer (according to my Mom) who has brightened each and every day with love and laughter. We are all truly blessed to be a family!!!

November 26, 2014: I just wanted to send a message on behalf of my Meommy and me - to say how very much I have to be grateful for this Thanksgiving. I am so lucky I ended up with Siri in SCRC after living with WAY TOO MANY other cats. I am filled with all sorts of love for my new home, my new sister Chloe and my Mom. My Mom tells me every day (at least 10 times) how much I am loved, and my new family has just made me so much happier, funnier, cuter (is that possible?) and mischievous. I know I will never have anything but good nourishing food, a clean litter box, lots of toys and oodles and oodles of love. This Thanksgiving is a blessing. I thank everyone at SCRC for rescuing me - and for all they do every day to help little meezers like me! find their forever homes. Wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday to all from Cara, Chloe and Karen - (postscript - here's a picture of the two girls cuddling on the bed; taken December 3, 2014)

August 25: Oh my! I cannot believe I've been here one year already. My home is my haven and I am just so happy I don't even remember how horrible it was at that hoarder's home a year ago when Siamese Rescue scooped me up and saved me. I am now a happy, frisky girl who loves to play fetch with my Meowmmy (she keeps on buying me toys for some reason!) and I just love this place. Thank you Siri and SCRC for scooping me out of that horrible place and finding me a home that I know will be my forever home! My Meowmmy tells me that almost every day. And my sister Chloe is also getting more comfortable with me - she even lets me groom her and sleep next to her when she's feeling good. I'm so happy I could just PURRRR!!!!

March 25, 2016: my new sister Coco has arrived and you'd think she was the two year old! We integrated in record time according to our Mom and we now sleep side by side on our sunflower pads. She's much more tiny than I am which I'm not used to and we're both still learning that being picked up is for nothing but love...I guess some memories don't go away so easily. But mom tells me every day I'm her white-nosed wonder and how much she adores me.I love this life!!

August 23, 2016: How is it possible that it's been 2 years already that I've found my forever home? I sure love it here. I lost my sister Chloe (we loved each other so much) in January, but this past March, my Mom told me I was going to have a new sister. She didn't tell me how smart and demanding she would be though! But we've learned to love each other, play with each other, and even snuggle with each other - here are a few pics. Will have my wellness visit with Vet Tom next week, but my wonderful Mom tells me I'm the most beautiful, sweet and easy to love girl, so I guess all is good! Thanks for finding me this wonderful home - life can't be any better!!!

REGGIE
Needy for attention, I am fairly vocal, outgoing, and demanding. I didn't get enough attention previously so I'm ready to soak it up! I actually think I may do better in a busier household rather than a quiet one, and with lots of hands on, but no small kids please because I do get a little nippy particularly when you stop paying attention to me! I don't have much experience with toys so I'll be learning about that, I'm sure! A few more days in isolation and then I hope to make it to Group Living!

KATO
Soulmate potential cat looking for a one on one very deep tight relationship. I'm way smarter than most blues (sorry guys and gals) and very very affectionate when I think you might be my person. I tolerate other cats but my preference really is to be the only one, hence why only cat is checked. I would like lots of together time with someone who loves to snuggle, talk, and share the world together.

Notes from Home
Greetings, friends!
Kato has settled into our home wonderfully well and we are loving every minute with him. He wants nothing more that to be either on or as near as possible to one or both of us, but he isn't over bearing about it. He has scratched only on his scratching pad which is great since we had some furniture reupholstered. He loves a bit of catnip on his cardboard scratcher now and then. I have to be careful how much because he's quite sensitive to it. He loves to play "under cover", especially when I change the sheets. At first, he trailed off on his eating and we had to experiment with some different foods till we found the right ones. Now he loves the dry Science Diet for sensitive skin and a bit of Fancy Feast morning and night. Our vet suggested the dry that he eats since he does scratch some in his temporal areas which she says is typical of cats with herpes. His eyes are doing better since we're using 500mg. of L-Lysine twice a day in treat form. He loves them and eats his food much better if we don't use the capsule on it. He simply has the most precious, loving personality and is a real purr-meister! He made his first trip to the coast and did very well down there. He was pretty noisy in the car the first half of the trip coming and going, but we think that he will become accustomed to it. We are so very happy with our choice and we think that Kato is a pretty contented guy here with us. I wish we had pictures; he looks great.

Six-month update for Kato: We love this cat and feel that he has adjusted well to our home and routines. He is still a "lap cat", especially with Vicki. He is extremely affectionate with both of us and still purrs a lot. I am somewhat concerned that he doesn,t get enough exercise because he isn't much interested in toys, but he does run up and down the stairs almost daily at some times. He has had a few health problems which have resolved, and all is well now. About August first Kato had a small, but enlarging, malignant mast cell tumor removed from his left upper chest. Not long after this he developed a "hot spot" (area of moist dermatitis) on the back of his neck. The surgery healed very well, but the hot spot was really a challenge. He still has some right eye drainage and continues to be on the L-Lysine. Kato is very talkative and intelligent, and often does silly things, which we love. He is, however, very shy with most strangers and with our grandchildren, unfortunately. He is primarily attached to us and does really like our neighbor who cares for him if we must be away, which isn't often at all. He's not especially fond of car riding to the coast but does very well while we're there. If you have any suggestions for easing the car rides, we would welcome them. His appetitie is great and he has no litterbox or furniture scratching problems. We are thoroughly enjoying him!

Greetings from Kato and his adoring mom and dad!
Kato has been a dear, wonderful addition to our home, and we can hardly imagine that he's been here for 2 years now. He is in good health and just had his annu8al check-up and vaccines. He is such an affectionate guy who loves trailing after us and getting in the middle of whatever we're doing, usually accompanied by lots of "chatting". He enjoys sitting atop his cat tree in front of a long bedroom window, but his favorite place is between our lower legs when we stretch out to read. He regularly patrols for visiting felines and is getting a little less dramatic when he spots one on our deck or porch. He still loves going downstairs to the "talking scale" with Tim morning and night, and usually joins me on my lap when we watch TV. He zips under the bed when strangers come, but can usually be persuaded to come out unless the visitor is some sort of service man. He loves our neighbor who looks after him on the rare occasions that we leave him over night. He's doing much better in the car on our way to the beach and back and seems to like being there. We feel very blessed to have been able to adopt such a sweet, funny and loving creature. He still has a drippy eye from the herpes, and we still give him his L-Lysine every day. Best wishes to all of you at the Rescue Center!

Three-year update: Kato continues to be our sweet, loving, funny pet. To our distress, we learned on March 28 that he has lymphoma. Before I continue, We want you to know that he is doing very well so far. We took him to have his claws trimmed and his weight check revealed a 2-pound weight loss. He was due for his annual check-up in 2 weeks, so our vet went ahead with it that day. She called the next day to tell us that he had an abnormal liver function test and elevated lymphocytes. She checked a blood slide the next morning and saw some blast cells. On Monday we took him to an internal medicine specialist who again took blood and also did a liver biopsy. the liver biopsy was diagnostic for the lymphoma. After much discussion, we opted to put him on Prednisolone every evening (not metabolized in the liver like Prednisone is). Soon thereafter, his Herpes flared into an upper respiratory condition and I began giving him his L-Lysine by crushing a half-tab morning and night, mixing it with a little water, and squirting it into his mouth with a little syringe. He cleared up quite quickly. We are feeding him high-quality cat food and he is eating very well. In fact, the steroid makes him very hungry, and not over-feeding is a challenge. We are going to continue to take the best care of him that we can and love him every day that he is with us. He has brought us a lot of joy, and I think that we have done the same for him. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Vicki and Tim Sellner

June 28, 2014
We are 3 months from Kato's diagnosis of lymphoma, and we're so happy to let you know that he continues to do well. He's eating well and, though maybe sleeping a bit more, he's following his usual pattern of activities. Tim is convinced that God and good care can cure him. We really love him and are praying that he will be with us for a long time. We'll keep you updated.

Greetings from Kato and his favorite humans, Tim and Vicki,
We are very, very happy to tell you that has now been in remission from his lymphoma since,
March
, 2014. His April physical showed greatly improved lab results (liver enzymes down from 400+ to normal). He is super affectionate, mostly always beginning our time together with pats and kisses before snuggling down between our lower legs, much preferring this to lap sitting. He also loves to wash us, which can get a bit uncomfortable. He loves our screened porch in the early morning and evening. We call it "outside".He's eating Science Diet prescription dry Geriatric Diet food and drinks lots of water from his ceramic fountain and the shower floor when he can. I will g-mail a picture or 2 from my iPhone. We hope he's with us for a long time to come.

August22,2016: It is with great sadness that we tell you that our dear Kato succumbed to his lymphoma on Tuesday, August 16. We are very thankful that he was only really ill for 2 days before we had to have him euthanized. He was a dear and wonderfully affectionate cat whom we loved so very much for the 5 years he spent with us. He fit beautifully into our home and hearts, and we will always be grateful for his presence in our lives. Tim and Vicki Sellner.
