ANUBIS
IAnubis has become the sweetest cat. He now has hair on his back and it is very dark. I like to sleep in his room and he will give me lots of purrs and chances to pet him. He just loves the company. He is so ready for a home and he will show you how much he appreciates one.

He has a good appetite but he is not overweight and appears to be very healthy. He does like to talk to you and get your attention by carrying on a conversation. He is not loud about it though.

Anubis was at the vet today for a physical exam.. He was found to have an ear infection (yeast). Treated with Convenia injection and given script for Posatex, 15 gm. Also injection of antibiotic for ears Dex SP, 4mg inj.

He also had his nails trimmed. Weight: 15.5 lbs.

Anubis is doing well, very inquisitive, eating and drinking well and using a liter box with no issues. He is still getting used to his new surroundings but has the run of the house. No other animals here.

11/14/14 - Magnus is really growing and now seems about 3/4 of the size of Xena. He gets along with her very well, always approaches her with a submissive posture until he sees what type of mood she's in. They play chase quite a bit.

Xena seems to really approve of Magnus, he's a perfectly behaved gentleman - or so she thinks. She was sitting on the side table next to my chair getting petted, her tail was hanging off the edge. She kept turning around and hissing over the edge of the table as someone kept grabbing her. She'd look and never see anyone, then turn back to getting petted. This kept going on over and over until she was extremely annoyed. I wouldn't even touch her because it would set her off. Snarf was in the kitchen having a snack while this was occurring. He wandered into the living room and she spotted him and gave a very evil hiss. Stopped him in his tracks, he looked around very puzzled, then took another step. She hissed again. No mistaking her intent. He turned around and left. After a minute I saw Magnus sneak out from under the table and go behind the sofa to exit the room. He's a clever boy and has found having a 'little brother' comes with the benefit of blaming everything on Snarf :) This isn't the only time Xena has taken Snarf to task for something Magnus has done.

11-26-14 - The boys had their first kill this morning. They were playing with something and I thought they'd torn a bit off one of the throw rugs. I took it away because figured eating fabric wasn't good for them. Picked it up and it was soft and silky, was thinking I wonder if they got this off one of their toys because it doesn't look like a rug. Got it into the light - it was a small snake! This of course begs the questions where did they get it? And more importantly are there more? Yes it's an old house and I expect mice, but snakes??? I believe Magnus was responsible for the capture and dispatch, he was still looking for it 15 minutes later when I left for work. Snarf had moved on to other toys.

6/18/15 - Well Magnus is a year old now and has turned into quite the hunter, well as much of a hunter as being an indoor cat allows. Baby snake, mice, and a full grown snake! Where he found a full grown snake in the house is a bit of a disturbing question, almost as disturbing as the fact he brought it over to play with around my feet. When you realize that the long brown thing going over your foot is not actually a cat's tail you tend to leave your chair in a hurry! And by full grown I mean approximately 2 foot long and an inch in diameter at the widest point. With Magnus' help the snake was herded into a box and, much to Magnus' disappointment, taken outside.

Now that warmer weather is here he enjoys sitting in the open window (has a screen on it) and watching the outdoor life, birds and bunnies. Of course he's pretty smart and quickly realized that after he hears the screen door he can see me out there so that must be the gateway to the birds and bunnies. So now I have to watch when I go in and out, he's not terrible or really trying to escape, he just wants to investigate.

He does have luxating patellas, they aren't bad enough to need surgery (thankfully since I wouldn't want to try and keep him quiet for the recovery) and don't seem to bother him too much, if they pop out they usually pop right back in within a step or two. Controlling his weight is also important to not put too much strain on his legs, he doesn't like that. His motto is 'you never have too much food!' The dry food that is out for them to snack on is measured and when it's gone it's gone, no more. Also it's a low calorie option. Their wet food (breakfast and dinner) is mixed with water to make it seem like more and he doesn't get treats when ever he asks. Just once a day. The treats are actually oral care cat food, Xena was getting a few pieces a day for her teeth so now everyone gets a couple pieces a day. He's quite active and runs, wrestles, and plays quite a lot but he's an 'easy keeper' and gains easily.

9/22/15 - Good news! Magnus went for his annual checkup a couple weeks ago and they said his luxating patella issue has improved. They still pop out some, but not as much. My vet said they don't do the surgery themselves, they refer to a specialist, and she said the way he is now the specialist wouldn't even consider surgery. He is starting on Cosquin to try an minimize any arthritis in the future. She said his weight is good at 9.9 pounds, I'm sure he was hoping she'd say he was under weight and I had to feed him more ;) that's not happening.

He's developed into quite the sly, cheeky, boy. He likes to poke and tease, the bigger the reaction the better he likes it. Like a 5 year old boy teasing his older sister.

As the weather has gotten warmer he's added moths to his list of hunting prey. The only problem is if they get away from them they fly up to the ceiling. Then Snarf tears up the nearest path, cat tree, cupboard, exposed beam, etc., and plucks them off the ceiling. This utterly annoys Magnus, he went to all that work of stalking and catching the moth only to have Snarf steal it away - just because Snarf can climb! Alas that is Magnus' shortcoming, he can't climb very well. Run, jump, wrestle, burrow, stalk, etc., all good. Climbing not so much, and Snarf is a climber extraordinaire, definitely in the top 1% of his class. Sometimes things are a little unbalanced, Magnus doesn't let it get him down though. He usually can find an alternate route to get to where ever Snarf is, if he really can't figure out a way to follow him he just finds something else to do. There were some baby bunnies in the flower bed outside the living room window this summer. If the window was open he could sit in it and lean against the screen and watch the babies, that provided hours of enjoyment. I often wondered if those little bunnies ever got a creepy feeling like someone was spying on them :)

9/13/2016 - Hard to believe it's been 2 years! Magnus just had his annual checkup, everything is fine and the vet kept saying how handsome he was and how beautiful his coat was. She didn't even worry about his weight, which was ah-hum 11 lbs. He doesn't miss any meals. One little quirk has shown up - he loves, absolutely loves, fabric. This makes changing the bed a bit challenging because sheets are the best. I try to pick a time when he's napping and be very quiet, doesn't matter, I turn around and there is Magnus grabbing the sheets. He gathers as much as he can in his arms and just wads it all up and lays in the middle. As you can imagine this behavior isn't the best for sheets and I've had to continuously patch them. Finally this past weekend the patching no longer was enough and the bottom sheet had to be replaced. The tattered remnant of what used to be a sheet was folded and placed in Magnus' bed. He was so happy, his bed now has sheets! So now Magnus is sleeping on Cool Comfort 100% Cotton Sateen and I'm sleeping on $11 200 count something from Walmart. At least the cat is happy, isn't that what is important :)

TIA
Sweet girl, very affectionate! So much so, it's difficult to get pictures.

Tia has been out of isolation for a while and has settled in amongst the 4 resident Siamese and the other foster as well as the puppy.

Very nice, calm, mellow kitty who enjoys being petted and loved. Sleeps at the bottom of the bed and shares the bed with two torties!

Tia is doing just wonderful! She is so perfect. I could not imagine life without her. She is one lazy girl. Her days consist of sleeping, talking, eating and more sleep. She has her spot on my wife where she sleeps every night. She only drinks from the sink and will wait patiently until you turn it on for her. She's a huge part of our family and we are so so so glad we have her!!!!

COCO
Just arrived. More information soon.
Notes from Home
9/13/16
Coco has gone from a scared little kitty who wouldn't come out from under the bed in her isolation room to a playful, loving, and happy cat! She's still a little skittish and hides when there are loud noises (thunder, fireworks, vacuum cleaners), but comes out quickly with little coaxing after it stops. She used the litter box very well from the beginning and continues to do so, though she has a bad habit of playing in and around them, scattering litter all around! Fortunately a broom solves that problem :) She's the most playful cat we've ever had but is more than able to entertain herself if we aren't around.

Health wise she had some issues a month or so after we took her in. She continued to butt-scoot for longer than we expected, and eventually we found out she still had roundworms despite being treated for them at Siamese Rescue. We went through 2 rounds of deworming and now it seems she's worm free. Otherwise her health is super and the vets lover her! She's also getting better about having her nails cut, though she still doesn't love it; we give her treats afterwards so it gets a little better each time :)

Coco has gotten along very well with our older male Balinese (Spike) from the beginning. She almost loves him TOO much! She sometimes grooms him to the point where he growls at her to leave him alone, but if he's really had enough he'll let her know with a little swat and then he'll just leave. Most of the time now they groom each other. She also loves to do whatever he is doing; if he's eating, she would like to eat too. If he's drinking, she'll try to drink out of the same bowl. She's even started being more vocal with us and I think it's because he's an extremely vocal kitty and she doesn't want to be left out of the conversation :)

At first Coco didn't really like cuddling with us on the couch or being picked up, but even that has turned around in the last 6 months. She now comes up almost every time we're on the couch to lap sit or just sit near us on a blanket. She likes being picked up, but only for a short amount of time usually. She's a huge cuddle bug now, and we love it!

Overall we're so happy to have Coco in our lives and very grateful to Siamese Rescue for pairing us with her. She's a great companion for Spike and brings energy and joy to our home. Thank you all again for the great work you do helping animals and people!

Notes from Home
September 12, 2016

Today, Miss Molly, her “brother” Wade, and I are celebrating Molly’s seventh anniversary as a member of our family. Let’s see, so far we’ve had cake and ice cream and will be moving on to champagne later this afternoon (just kidding).
Two weeks ago Molly had her annual check-up with the vet, who pronounced her in fine shape. She weighed in at 9 lbs., 10 oz., and will get a dental next February (2017). She’s been on a reduced-calorie diet since her 2015 check-up and is now svelte again and more energetic than ever. If such a thing as Kitty Olympics existed , she would qualify for the 50-yard sprint!
Every day I give thanks that Shirley Bodirnea, foster meowm extraordinaire, rescued Molly and nurtured her until I came along and scooped her up. The SCRC volunteers are angels with furry wings!

September 12, 2015

Hello, everybody.

Today is my special day: I’m celebrating my six-year anniversary in my forever home! Yippee — jumping up and down and racing around the house! My sidekick, Wade, is watching me from his favorite spot on top of the couch, probably wishing I’d be quiet so he can go back to his nap.

Visited my vet two weeks ago for my annual checkup and shot. All’s well, but she’s putting me on a special low-calorie diet. Said I’d been snacking too much. Meowm’s been transitioning me gradually to the new food, and I actually like it, much to her surprise, especially the canned stuff. By this time next year I hope to be my svelte self again.

At our house we all love SCRC and the incredible people who make it work so well. We especially love my foster meowm, Shirley Bodirnea, who took care of me and made it possible to hook up with my forever home. Purrs and head-butts forever!

And now I have to get back to celebrating.

September 12, 2014: Taking time out from a busy day of bird watching, toy chasing, snoozing, snacking, and keeping my goofy brother Wade in line — to thank my foster mom, Shirley Bodirnea, and the SCRC for sending me to my Furever Home. Had my annual checkup and distemper booster at the vet’s a couple of weeks ago. The nice lady in the white coat said I need to lose a pound or two, so we’re working on it.

That nut case Wade requires my constant supervision, but we like hanging out together on the screen porch, watching the local wildlife, and catching the breeze. Life is good. Mom even says she can’t fall asleep at night until I come and snuggle up with her. Awww . . .

Thanks for saving me and giving me a wonderful life! Purrs to everybody at SCRC!

September 12, 2013: Wow, has it really been four years since Foster Mom Shirley Bodirnea took me to meet my Forever Mom? Amazing! Today I am a contented kitty in every way. And in the pink of health, too. Last month when I got my yearly checkup, my veterinarian, Dr. Lisa Deaton, told me what a pretty tortie I am. Of course I knew that already.

Today I have a full agenda to celebrate my anniversary: just now had my mid-morning snack and am headed out to spend a few hours on the screened porch, watching the squirrels and butterflies. Then I'll have my early afternoon snack and catch 40 winks with Meowmom. When she stretches out on the couch to "rest her eyes," I stretch out alongside her. Sometimes we even catch 60 winks if we feel like it.

Later on I'll chase brother Wadie around and let him chase me, too. I'm faster, of course, and much more devious. Sometimes he doesn't even see me coming. I'll spend some snuggle time with Uncle Albert, too. This weekend is his 18th birthday. For an old dude, he's really pretty cool.

But I would be remiss if I didn't once again express my undying thanks to SCRC and Foster
Mom Shirley for rescuing me and matching me up with my fabulous family. You're all the BESTEST!!

Purrs and head butts . . .
xxx, Molly

September 12, 2012: We started this very special day with a nummy breakfast, which I wolfed down in appreciation (and also to finish it before Uncle Albert nosed his way into my bowl). Yummm!!!

I'm happy as a bug in a rug with my family. We're a tight-knit bunch cuz we all WUV each other. The only thing I'm not crazy about is my yearly checkup at the vet's (but he always says I'm fit as a fiddle, which is great) and the noisy thing Meowmom calls a vacuum cleaner. It makes me scurry to my safe hidey-hole til she's done.

Brother Wadie is a real scamp, but I give as good as I get. I wuv sneaking up on him and springing. I chase him all around the house, and then he chases me. Oh, and I still have my favorite toy -- the fuzzy green mouse that Foster Mom Shirley gave me 3 years ago. It's a little ragged-looking now, but that's okay. The funnest thing is to throw it around in the middle of the night, like it was a real mousie. It's gone behind the fridge and stove a few times, buy Meowmom always fishes it out for me.

Thank you, Foster Mom Shirley and SCRC, for giving me such a loving family. You're the bestest!

WUV, Molly

Sept. 12, 2011: Wow, has it been 2 years already? Time flies when you're having fun. Uncle Albert, Brother Wade, and I are the 3 Mouseketeers, literally. When cold weather starts coming, like now, once in a while a little forest mousie finds his/her way into the basement. We have great fun chasing it around (we always wait til about 2 AM, when Meowm is asleep), but Meowm frowns on that. She tells us to be nice to our visitor, but we can't help ourselves. So she gets her butterfly net (for taking insects out of the house), snags the mousie, and relocates it gently down the forest road a ways.

I WUV my new family, and they WUV me! You guys at SCRC and especially my Foster Meowm, Shirley, are the bestest!! Without all of you I wouldn't be the happy li'l girl that I am. Every day I say a special prayer: "Thank you with all of my heart."

Now I have to go see if I can sneak up behind Wadie or Uncle Al and pounce on them.

Love always,

Molly

Molly is so integrated into our family that I can't imagine life without her! That little speckled thing has me at her beck and call, and that's okay. : )

Molly's coat has darkened quite a bit, and her tortie markings are distinctive. She also has a small tan streak on her forehead that's very sweet. Also, I can’t help but laugh at the way she squeaks instead of meowing.

She and Wade are best buddies. They tear around the house -- up and down the stairs -- and roll and tumble on the floor. Once in a while things get a little too rambunctious for her liking, and she screeches -- and five minutes later they're back at it again. : )

Foster Mom Shirley nursed Molly to health and gave her lots of TLC. THANK YOU, SHIRLEY!!!!!!

ROMEO
Young, healthy, playful, and definitely living up to my name! I am a little nervous about bumps in the night and things I'm not sure of (which are quite a bit), but my loving inquisitive nature soon gets the best of me. I'm a catnip fiend too! A quieter home BUT one that will allow playtime as I'm likely to live up to the snowshoe reputation of being one crazy player!
Notes from Home
Hello to our family at Siamese Rescue. Today in our home we celebrate the one year anniversary of our Romeo. He has been a blessing and truly a best boy. I am so thankful that this wonderful boy has entered our lives. Our family cannot imagine one day without him. We followed all the instructions to best introduce him to his sister and brother, and it all worked out fantastic. My Three Musketeers! This past year has brought allot of trials, I was sick for a while, I lost a family member to an accident, and illness came to me again. But the love of my family and my Three Musketeers kept me strong.

My husband had reservations before I got our Romeo, he feared that he would not fit in. Now those two are best buds! :-)

We are not geniuses or lucky, we put love, patience and consistency into our Romeo and he opened his heart to us.

He is a true snowshoe, it is extremely difficult to take a picture of him if he is not sleeping. He is our little Sherlock Holmes, always investigating.

3/13/14: Piewacket (new name from the movie Bell, Book, and Candle) is growing into a delightful young cat; she is playful, lovable, and totally adorable. I love every inch of her - she is the best friend I hoped she would be.

9/9/16: Piewacket is still doing well; can't believe she's three already. She accompanies me on my overnight trips to my grandkids and has gotten clicker trained to sit on a stool and follow me to various spots in the house. She enjoys our time together, and I hope to teach her a few more simple tricks.

ADA BYRON
Your Christmas Goose? What Goose? I didn't see the goose, really! What did it look like?
Healthy girl with Giant appetite needs loving home with large fridge. If you'd like to adopt the Safeway, consider me and I'll Bloom in your home. I won't leave any Food Lion around, that's for sure!
Notes from Home
Ada is doing great! All the food jokes on here can just be disregarded because she is, after much hard work, at her perfect weight of 13 pounds, and is not obsessed with food anymore. She needed to be on a special diet because she had a medical issue where she was not absorbing carbs correctly (and so always felt hungry). So, can the fat jokes from now on! (And anyone making them should feel guilty; she could not help it). She is friendly and snuggly, and extremely smart. She's an integral part of my family and home.
