CRYSTAL
Look at my beautiful eyes, don't they look like fine crystal? Maybe that's why I received my name. I'm still so scared. All I can do is hide in this Millie bed. Maybe if I burrow far down no one will see me. This is the first time I've been separated from my brothers and sisters. Two of them got to come into Siamese Reacue so be sure to look at their pictures also. I'll take a few days to settle in and then I'll have foster-mommie write and tell everyone about my little girl personality. Congrats Jenny in VA!

Crystal was renamed Chai Lai. Unfortunately, she passed away from kidney failure at age 13. She was so shy at first and became the most loving, sweet girl.

RASPUTIN
Nastrovje! Scandalous! Outrageous! Someone leaked important information pertaining to my very important mission called Operation Forever Home. My identity was compromised and I was captured and detained in the NC animal shelter. Luckily I am now in a safe house aka Foster Home.I am a very handsome, sleek and reserved lynx point boy with many endearing qualities. I will help you accomplish your missions from following you around all day long, evaluating movies on the couch with you; sharing your snacks and detaining escaped furry mice in your home. I can be your BIGGEST asset in covert operations and will be your friend to the end. I will love you, admire you and like you for you! So dont miss out on this once in a lifetime chance: Inquire about me. Foster mom will be here ready to assist you. Purrs and Headbutts: Rasputin! Congrats Jenny and Don in VA!

Rasputin was renamed Niklas and fondly referred to as Nik Nik. Unfortunately he passed away at age 12 from lymphoma. He was a wonderful guy!

PRINCESS
Princess is a senior girl who was taken to a shelter from a hoarder situation. She had blood work that showed she was in pretty good shape for her age, though she is hyperthyroid. She is now on meds for that, which is easy to give in her food, and not too expensive. Once her thyroid was where it should be, she was re-tested and though now the thyroid levels are where they should be, it was discovered that she is in renal failure. According to my vet, high thyroid levels will sometimes mask renal problems, but once thyroid is leveled out, that's when the real picture shows up.
This is a case of what a true rescue is all about. She is pretty, loving and so much likes attention. No cat her age deserves to be in a shelter or to die in one. She likes to sleep in her heated bed, and doesn't care for other cats, but as long as they keep their distance, she's fine around them. She just growls at them if they get too close.
If you'd like to give this sweet girl some happiness in her last years, ask about her and I'll update you on her progress.
Thanks!

Notes from Home
One month: The Dowager Princess (aka Dow, Dao, Your Highness, et cetera) has settled in. The Angels of Assisi papers give her birthdate as 9/16/02. I've brought her to the vet twice, the 2nd time to follow-up on her ear issue. She was re-medicated and I have another follow up on Tues, Jul 3rd to make certain it's totally cleared up this time! Her weight has been consistent. I've switched her from FF Chicken to the Roasted Turkey which has much less phosphorus. Triumph Turkey and Beef flavors will be added to the rotation soon and they are both cheaper and lower in phosphorus, particularly the Turkey.
She's started to be difficult about taking her thyroid meds and I'm looking into the topical form, but that won't be an option until her ears are completely clear. The vet also noted that her thyroid number was so low, that skipping a dose every other day wouldn't hurt. Also looking in to adding a phosphorus binder (most likely baked and crushed eggshells) to help since that number was so high. She's going to have blood work done again in early September.
She's been out of isolation for a few weeks now and both cats are hissing at each other. I'm trying to let them work it out between themselves as long as there's no growling and paw swipes. As expected, Tenebrae attempts to eat Dow's food, so I still separate them at meal time. The Dow has retaliated by occupying Ten's carrier and playing with her catnip cigar. I can't help but laugh when Ten comes to 'complain' that she's playing with her stuff. Both cats are now on a totally canned diet with rare bits of chicken added when I'm motivated enough to actually turn the oven on!
The Dow has been slightly less of a snuggler with the temps being so high. I also believe she's more secure and doesn't feel the need to be so clingy. She had me nicely trained to put the chair cushion on the floor, sit in the chair, then she would flop onto the cushion and claw at my ankles until I picked up the cushion and put it and her on my lap. At night she will physically pull my arm over so she can use it as a pillow. Quite certain of what she wants! I expect to be even more popular once Fall starts to chill things. :)
Pictures are a challenge. First, she immediately comes over for petting if I point the camera at her. Second, her iris atrophy is near total, so she's much more comfortable in dim light. I'm going to get PhotoShop running this week, so will attempt to get some shots uploaded real-soon-now.

Notes from Home
Hello world! It’s been a long time since I was adopted (almost 3 years!) and I’m loving every minute of it! I love to play in my cat tree and scratch my posts. I’ve been spoiled by the good life of lots of good healthy food and exercise. Thank you to everyone at the Siamese Rescue Center for making my dream of a forever home a reality!

Notes from Home
Kit is still doing great. Except he still can't jump up on the kitchen counter (36" high). I tried enticing him with food, but can't do it, so I put a basket there for him to get on and then jump the rest of the way. I think that he has gained a little weight, but would like to see a little more on him. His favorite hangout is still the screened in porch or a cushion on a dining chair. My other cat, Willow, and Kit get a little closer, nose to nose, but Willow still is not ready to make complete friends with him yet. I am anxious to see them finally play and sleep together. the photos that I will upload might be repeats.
Kiko is still fabulous, a little overweight and he and Kitty sleep together and play together and both sleep in my bed with me at night. Both still a joy.

SYLVIE FKA SYLVIA
I am finally out of iso so get "room privileges". My broken leg has healed wonderfully and I now walk with a barely noticeable limp. I can jump up on stuff just like a normal kitty. Foster mom thinks the limp will probably disappear completely in time. I am very loveable and a great lap kitty. I am a teeny bit shy at first with strangers but warm up quickly. I am a pettie girl at just under 7 lbs.
Give me (foster mom) an email to check me out. Sylvie

Notes from Home
Sylvie gained an adopted cat sister this May! Her name is Sage and she's 9 months old. As young as she is, Sage doesn't have good cat manners yet and is predictably a lot more energetic than Sylvie, but Sylvie is slowly coming around. Other than that, Sylvie is doing very well. She gets twice-a-year physicals, and at her last one in April all of her bloodwork was good. Her intermittent over-grooming issues have been solved and she now only eats one type of canned food (Nature’s Variety Instinct Rabbit). She continues to bring me joy and is my favorite being on earth.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wanted to write to you to wish you a happy holiday season, and to let you know how Sylvie is doing.
Sylvie is a delightful cat to be around, for me and my guests. Even my boyfriend who isn’t too fond of pets has found games that both and she enjoy. The latest is a game where she will defend the throwing of balls of socks into the entrances of her cat tree. She doesn’t even seem to mind if you accidentally bean her with one. I can’t imagine any of the cats I had growing up playing this game – they’d all run and hide if you started throwing socks at them. She will run up to her goalie position if you begin throwing socks before she’s ready. Her favorite toy of all is a cat fishing pole with leather tassels on the end. She likes chewing on those, and really enjoys running around at top speed chasing them.
We’ve gotten over the yowling to come into the bedroom. Her favorite places to sleep are on top of the ironing board, on top of her cat tree, and in the bed next to me on the other pillow (where she always creates a nice nest of crème colored fur). She rejects all efforts to provide her with more comfortable cat beds, and when sleeping on the floor she prefers small boxes and paper bags.
She must always know where I am, and if I’m out of sight she will run to find me. She follows me around the house dutifully like a little puppy, and will respond if you meow at her and she’s in the right mood.
I’d really like to leash train her, as I think she might enjoy a tethered walk outside in my parents’ yard (they have a large piece of property that is not near a busy road). She’s very curious and perhaps a supervised visit outside might satisfy some of her boredom.
Enclosed are pictures of her helping me study (she loves to sit on whatever I’m reading, or getting right in front of the computer monitor and chasing the mouse on the screen. Pay attention to me!) and one of her enjoying the sun.
I hope your new year is off to a good start, and thank you again for providing me with such a delightful companion.
Sincerely,
Alicia
----------------------------------
I cannot believe Sylvie’s only been with me for three years! It seems like we’ve been friends forever. She continues to be a delight in my life, and with friends, family, and even service people who come into my home. She has no problem whatsoever going right up to them, sitting on any receipts I have to sign, and begging them to pet her. I’ve never seen a cat act so friendly toward strangers! She will happily come out around larger groups of people in my home, and sit upon either the friendliest or most cat-averse lap, much to the delight or horror of the guest depending on which category they fall into.
She continues to prefer to be around me wherever I am in my home, and seems to recognize when I’m leaving for work so she can give me a “hug†before I go (she finds a high place, stands up on her hind legs, and places her front paws on my shoulder) or run away and watch me from behind a cracked door. She prefers high places, definitely a tree dweller. I’ve taken her out on a leash on my parents’ property, and she seemed to enjoy following me around outside in the grass and being carried around by my brother. She napped for the rest of the day after our walk though.
I’ve had her DNA tested, and she did not test positive for any diseases tested for.
My only quibble with her is that I do not wish to be woken up at 5-6am on weekends for petting. But I realize that this behavior is not likely something that will change, so she wins.
Sincerely,
Alicia
