CHESSIE
Hi! I'm Chessie and I just got sprung from the Big House! I'm still a little shy with fostermom, but she seems ok, so I let her pet me and stuff. Right now I'm missing other kitties, but fostermom couldn't spring them from the pokey, so I'm all alone. I hope she brings somebody home to play with me soon because I'm a little lonely. HEY...maybe you have a kitty that needs a playmate?! I mean, I'll let YOU pet me and stuff too, but I really really really want somebody to chase toys and lay in the catnip with.

P.S. Foster mom can't answer emails until 9-24, so please check back with me that morning when I'll be back to 'adopt me' status.

28 November 2009--Chessie is doing very well. She has fit in with the family perfect. She passed her first vet check since being adopted and is gaining weight fine. She is very playful, she knows her name, and loves her treats. She gets along very well with Ming, her 4 year old Seal point house brother and they play all day. She is on her way to becoming just as spoiled as the other two. Thanks for letting her become a part of our family...................Cheryl

GUINEVERE
I'm a pretty and petite girl, but the shyest of my siblings. I do like to play, and that brings me around to see people and begin to gain confidence. I'm getting better all of the time, but if you have a really busy/loud household, I'm not the kitten for you. I need lots of love and attention. I think laps will be great in a few more days.

Things are going great--better than I ever hoped! Guinevere and Lancelot have become the best of friends--she is two months older than he and she grooms him and they play and wrestle all day long. Guinevere didn't really know what to think at first because Lancelot would hide and pounce on her, wanting to play. Now she pounces on him as well (and he loves every minute of it).

CHARLIE CHAPLIN (CHAP)
I LOVE lapsitting. I LOVE to follow you everywhere and talk to you. I LOVE to watch what you're doing and participate if you'll let me. I LOVE to talk but will listen to you too when you have something to say. I'm a great ambassador in your home because I'll greet everyone, show them in and give them a tour, then plop them down on the couch so I can hop up on their lap and make them feel at home. I'm in great health and a very good boy, or so I'm told! I do prefer people to cats but that's because I'm more like a person than just any cat....

Notes from Home
One year update on Charlie (VA5970): First the important stuff (especially for a geezer) . Charlie passed his one year vet examination with flying colors. No observed or anticipated heath issues as he enters his 12th (estimated) year. He gained a little more weight in the months immediately after arriving, and has been stable at about 14 Lbs. for six months plus. Eating and drinking are regular although he does like to eat on schedule and he certainly lets us know if we are running late. Litterbox habits, excepting one "teaching moment" have been perfect. General behavior is great, and he runs the race route several times each week. In my humble opinion, he could be a poster cat for the benefits of adopting geezers.
Now for some fun notes: Taken over, as opposed to getting settled in, would be a more apt description. He is certainly a lap cat, although he seems to like it better when I am reclined so he can lay on my chest and observe me eyeball to eyeball. He also likes to crawl under the covers when I am napping and will often lay next to me with his head sticking out. He avoided the millie bed we brought home with him for several months, but has since decided it is a good place for snoozing. He loves laying in my office chair, between me and the back of the chair or wrapped around it halfway into my lap. When he is ready for some attention, he will stand up with one paw on my shoulder while tapping on the back of my head with the other (I am trying to catch that routine on video). When I have to move him so I can work, he will often run around me and jump back in the chair, and then when I reach for him again he will play dead by rolling over on his back and going completely limp. He is proving to be quite the character. Last but not least for fun news, the teaching moment I mentioned earlier. About a month after arriving my wife and I were running late one day. She scooped his box (under his careful watch of course) but accidently put the cover on backwards and he couldn't get in. We returned a few hours later and he cited the riot act while pacing between us and the box. I followed him to the box and he was quite relieved when I fixed the cover. We checked all the most likely places but found nothing and decided that he must have waited for us to come back. Judging by his haste to get in after I fixed the cover I think he was waiting, but later that day we discovered a prime example of just how intelligent our wonderful meezers are. He left her a reminder to check the box cover in the form of a small wet spot. He got up on our bed, worked his way under the quilt and top sheet, and he put that spot dead center on her side of the bed. Since the bed was made he had to put a fair amount of effort into getting under the covers and reaching that particular spot, so there can be little doubt that was his way of sending a friendly message. Needless to say, we are careful to check that cover.
My wife is a late convert to the joys of being adopted by a Siamese while I have been a pet bean to several over the years. Charlie is our second adoption from SCRC and we are looking forward to giving him a safe and healthy home as he moves from semi to full retirement. He may not have the energy level of a young cat but he does have a well developed and very lovable purrsonality, so I would encourage everyone to consider a geezer if their situation allows. Finally, an update would simply not be complete without mentioning how much we appreciate the dedication of the Zwemke's, Kathy H., and all the volunteers that made this adoption possible and that make SCRC such a fantastic organization.

Notes from Home
Mei Ling has had her yearly shots and exam. Everything is going great with her.

Mei Ling has adjusted very quickly to our family. She loves her brothers and they all get along fine. She loves to play with her big brother Tigger’s tail. She will grab it and he will flip it and they do this for a little while then they move on. Tigger at first just looked at her like she was crazy but just turned around and does not seem to mind at all. Smokey and Mei Ling love to chase and play. Tigger will sometimes get in on the fun too. Mei Ling’s favorite toy is a little green ball that she LOVES to play catch, this can go on for over an hour is my arm did not get tired. Mei Ling loves her people too and likes to sit or sleep with her new mom. She is a joy to have in our family.

Simon is cute and VERY playful - We are still teaching him hands are not toys. So far Mia and Simon have had a hard time getting to know each other. We have taken it slow but it hasn't seemed to help. But we will keep working on it!

ELVIS FL
I am the ultimate lover boy. No hiding for me. I feel bad that my feline mother is a lttil bit afraid from all the changes but I am so happy that the man at the shelter knew to call Siamese Rescue so we could be "rescued" and given a chance for a new life. I am too friendly and loving to be around here for long. Thanks, Elvis

Notes from Home
Taji (FKA Elvis) was our first Snow-boy. I read about the breed, fell in love with what I read, found the VASRC website, and found Taji, he was a year old. He was being fostered outside of Tampa, FL, and we live in northern Delaware. Jane, his fostermeowm, said we lived too far away, at which point I told her we would come and get him. His mom and two sisters had been given up with him, and we were able to meet his mom, and one sister, the other had already been adopted. Taji was everything Jane said he would be, very loveable, vocal, and likes lots of attention. We brought him home and introduced him to our other 10 kitties, 4 of which are Siamese. He loves to cuddle under the covers with us in bed, loves to be wrapped up in a quilt on the couch, loves to be held & get his rubbies. And if we aren't sitting down when he decides he wants to be loved, he will follow us everywhere, meowing, until we sit down and commence the rubbies-athon. After almost 3 years with our Snow-boy, we decided to get another Snowshoe. We named him Xei (FNA Yatzee) - I'll tell you about him on his page.

What's that? Where? Who? Can I? I want! I need! Where are you? What's inside this? Give me! That's mine! Don't leave! Come back! Who's this? Move over! Make way! Stop that! More! Hey! I'm coming! Look out! Gotta go!!!!! You wanted to talk about me? You had better make an appointment - I AM ONE BUSY GUY WITH AN AGENDA!!!!!! And I'm going to need a playmate (feline or canine) to keep my occupied, unless you have tons of energy and time!

Notes from Home
11.5.09 - JB has been a part of our family for 6 months now, and we are all doing great! We have no problems with JB. He & his step-sister Abby still are not "best friends," but sometimes they are "partners in crime!" And the good news is they don't out-right hate eachother...they just have "different strokes..."

Everyone loves JB; and when I say loves, I mean LOVES. Even me, a disciplinarian by nature, just can't help but hug & give him kisses, even when he's been mischievous! Routines are going very good. He seems very happy, and has stayed healthy. We all had a bit of a sneeze a week or two back, but we're over that now, and even so, it didn't slow him down a bit.

I've updated & added some recent photos of JB - check them out!

ANABELL
Living out doors in a cage is not necessarily a bad thing except when you have no roof on your head and your upstairs neighbor, (also no roof and no floor) is a poopy rabbit. Major yuck. You can imagine how appreciative and happy I am to be someone safe and sound with nice people, nice food and a roof over my head! I'm one of those ones that doesn't carry grudges, though, so I'm ready to make up with whomever would like me!

Silly, goofy, playful, lovable boy looking for same in human of either gender. Must have toys for me to play with and lots of space for me to dash about and run like mad so you can see how athletic and handsome I am. And if you have another kitty like me, that would be okay too!

Notes from Home
Vitto is a love. There is still a little friction between Vitto and Anabell, but it's getting better. Especially when Vitto is able to control his enthusiasm about ANabell and not pounce on her tail for example. They woke me this morning, both of them on top of me. good thing i have 2 hands for rubs...
He is so loving, very playful. is learning lots from his older sister...and she from him. He eats very well, which Anabell never did, but now it seems, with competition, she is a more avid eater! Vitto has his moments when he is too crazy wild, but this usually happens after a day of sleep, while we are gone. He settles down with some slow rubs on his back.
SO all is well. they are learning to work it out I think. And Anabell lets him know when he has crossed the line.

CHI
Is anyone looking for a sweet, loving, beautiful little girl? Well look no further because here I am! I am a very affectionate, playful no issue girl, and am quite the lap Meezer. I like the woofer and the other Meezers that are here. Foster Meowmy keeps telling me about a forever home, but I am still waiting for that special someone to love. Could you be that person? Ask about me and I will fill your life with love and joy!

Notes from Home
Chi had a new brother join her just two weeks ago - she is no longer the "only" cat in the family. She has adjusted well to her new brother, Sergio. At first, she hissed and growled when he got too close, but has accepted him.

We like to call her our "four-legged" alarm as she comes in and wakes us if we happen to sleep in a litle bit. She is also our foot-warmer at night when the weather starts getting a little colder. She may have some compitition now that Sergio is here. He has spent at least one night on our bed and probably will have many more to come since the weather is getting colder.
