I'm one handsome hunk of Meezer - long and lean, talkative and interactive, and very snuggly. How did a great guy like me end up in a shelter? Why, very simple. They got a new puppy and I didn't like him. So they kept that stupid puppy and took me on a quick trip to the shelter. Their loss can be your gain - ask about me!

Notes from Home
Hi,

My name is Jack. I am three years old and found a great home in Connecticut. I am one "Meezer" among three "Geezers" (They are not Siamese). Mommy and Daddy lost their 17 year old boy, Q in March of 2010 and they missed having a Meezer around the house. My brother and sisters seem to be okay with me and I try to be a good boy around them. I am so happy. I am safe, comfortable and very much loved. I have only been in my forever home for less than two months and already I can tell that I am part of this great family. My Mommy and Daddy give me so much attention and they say that they will always love me.

I have been in my “forever” home for six months now. Mommy and Daddy say that I am a great boy and that I have brought great joy into their lives. I like to play with my Daddy as if he was a cat and sometimes I groom his entire face. My parents are considering a friend for me because my sister Lursa is 18 years old and will only play with me a little bit.
Everyone who meets me compliments me and tells me how beautiful I am. Daddy says that nobody loves me more than he does but Mommy tells me that she is in love with me.
Thanks to Auntie JoAnn and Auntie Jackie for finding me my “forever” home.

Well it is January 13, 2012 and Mom has decided to post some pictures of me. If you want to see what Mom and Dad's friend, Sal did to Dad's guitar, look at "Pictures from Home."

January 27, 2012 - Oh No! More pictures Mom? Mom's new camera flash with some natural sunlight.

July 8, 2012 - Tomorrow is my one year anniversary in my "forever" home. Mommy and Daddy adopted a brother for me. His name is Tiberius and comes from Virginia Center. He has been here since March 4, 2012. Mom and Dad lost two very old babies at the end of last year so they wanted me to have somebody to play with. My sister, Lursa will be 20 soon so I have one brother and one sister. Everything is great here and I am a happy guy. I hope that you will look at the most recent pictures of me. Mommy caught me and Tiberius taking a nap.

June 19, 2013 - Hi all. If I look familiar to you but you can’t place me, just get up and go look at your Siamese Rescue Calendar and feast your eyes upon “Mr. June 2013.” That’s right, that picture of me was taken within minutes of my arrival to my “forever” home almost two years ago. If you don’t believe me, just click on “Pictures from Home” and you will see that same picture. Oh, and I also want to let you all know that I am doing just great!

July 9, 2014. Today is my third anniversary in my forever home. All is great and I am a very happy guy. Mom and Dad are so grateful to all the volunteers who helped me along the way in getting here. Love, Jack

July 9, 2015 - Today is my fourth anniversary in my forever home. Mom and a Dad continue to be amazed at how good I am with other cats, and when people come over, I like to greet them. Sometimes I will even sit on their lap if I know that they like me. All is well. Love, Jack

July 9, 2017 - Today is my sixth anniversary in my forever home. I am now nine years old. Mommy and Daddy adore me and they still tell me that they love me. Mommy was hugging and kissing me this morning and I was purring so loud because I wanted to let her know that I liked it. I had a checkup and a dental this year. All is well. Love, Jack

July 9, 2018 - Today is my seventh anniversary in my forever home. Can you believe that I am 10 years old now? Mommy and Daddy love me and I love them. Thank you to everyone at Siamese Rescue for finding me the perfect home. Love, Jack

ROUX
My dad had some life changes so sadly I am back with Siamese Rescue after 10 years. I first came as a kitten with my brother and now look more Lynxsy but I am adorable with my crossed blue eyes and lovable personality. I will be looking for a home with another purr friend. I might be your BFF!

Notes from Home
July 9, 2018
Roux is happily ensconced in Northern Michigan right now and she loves the open windows, fresh breezes and chirping birds. while her initial drive down from her foster home was a terrible experience, this was a happy one. We tried to give her a sedative to help her but she refused to eat. She has hated when our family went traveling and left her home with a sitter. This time she sat in my suitcase as if to say "i'm going too!" What we discovered is that she hates driving in the carrier. Once my daughter sat in the back seat with her and let her out she was happy as a clam, laying on the floor and snoozing. She and the dog still are not the best of friends but we try to keep them both happy and separated. Roux is an adorable little love bug who has bonded well with my daughter. Thanks again for giving us such a wonderful kitty.

April 14,2018
Sweet Roux formerly Ruby is slowly trying to get to know our home and humans. She is so fond of her temporary housing that it is taking a lot of effort to get her to come out to see the rest of the home. Fortunately the wand got her distracted enough to leave the room and walk slowly around the second floor of the house. She is understandably skittish and darts away if I walk too quickly near her. But she is such a purr machine and a love bug! Every time I enter her room she starts up the motor and doesn't stop until after I have left. As I sit writing this note Roux and our Welsh Terrier Maisie are staring at each other from a distance of about five feet. Carefully they examine each other with the dog wiggling and desperate to say hello to her new feline friend. Roux is curious and does not seem afraid. I think she may view the dog as a potential friend but also a nuisance to be dealt with. Over all we are doing well and I hope over time I will be able to report happy exchanges between dog and cat.

HOBBES
I am a very outgoing lovable guy. Good lap kitty and playful. Foster mom says I am a bit goofy but very personable and fun. I'm afraid of dogs so none of those, please. And I get so excited playing that I grab hands so no young children since it would be too scary for them.

Notes from Home
7/9/2018: July 6, 2018 was our one-year Adoption Day anniversary. We treated Calvin and Hobbes with a can of their favorite cat food. Hobbes is my guy (Catherine). This cat is amazing. He is so laid back, sweet and lovable. He loves to play with anything and everything that moves. One of his favorite toys is the Fat Boy (a tiger catnip mousie). He also loves to pick apples and avocados out of the fruit basket and knock them on the floor. One of the Hobbes' favorite pastimes is "working out" with me. If I am going to play tennis and don't have time to warm up a the gym, I'll do a quick stretch routine at home. As soon as Hobbes hears me get my 5-lb weight and stretch tube, he comes running. He promptly lays down (because, although active), he likes to roly poly (roll back and forth) on the ground chasing the end of my stretch tube. He stays though the whole "work out," which I've modified to give him the benefits of exercise. Hobbes is no stranger to sleep. He can lay down and be asleep in seconds. He is not so snuggly at night, although a few times, he will jump on my lap and sleep with me on the couch if it's really late. Hobbes is a true begger, loves to eat (which is why we keep him busy whenever we can). What a joy! I often tell him that he is my Mr Pound reincarnated. He doesn't hide much anymore, and even comes out when certain people come over. He loves our yard guy, most likely because his day job is watching out the window for any yard intruders. He also looks for places throughout the day to soak up a much sun as possible. Hobbes is a nosy busy-body, always in the forefront of any opportunity for: a) food that might fall on the ground, b) anything that might move on the floor, c) a quick work out, d) a chance to knock something off the counter, e) step on the computer keys while I'm working--and not paying attention to him and f) a good nap in a sunny spot. Hobbes is healthy, happy boy and a wonderful addition to our household. We can't imagine life without Hobbes.

Sweet boy who is a little frazzled with all the changes right now but settling in well. Needs a little time to readjust. Enjoys being petted and having his head/chin scratched.
Ok with quiet dog. Ok with most other cats.

Notes from Home
7/9/2018: July 6, 2018 was our one-year Adoption Day anniversary. We treated Calvin and Hobbes with a can of their favorite cat food. We enjoy Calvin immensely. Although he is a lynx cat mix, he is all Siamese. He talks to himself most of the day, loves his CNB (catnip bunny) and walks around on his tip toes searching for ways to get into mischief. He has really bonded with Dave, and, occasionally, will snuggle with me during the day. We call him the Midnight Snuggler because he loves to come up in the middle of the night and paw at us until we roll over and let him sprawl all over us, getting his belly rubbed and his chin scratched. When it comes to play, Calvin likes it low and slow. He likes to be teased so he can sprint after the wand or other toys. Like his cartoon namesake, Calvin in an instigator and lures Hobbes, who is usually clueless, into situations, such as: Jumping on the dining room table, running up and down the stairs, watching water run in the sink, chasing cardboard tubes, playing hide and go seek in the little play house. All-in-all, this healthy, happy boy is a wonderful addition to our household. We can't imagine life without Calvin.

TIARA
You wonder what happens to cats that go outside, and I'm living proof. Smacked by a car, I managed to crawl into a field where luckily a nice lady found me and got me to the vet. Unfortunately my leg couldn't be saved, but my spirit has been. Stay tuned as I learn about life with three legs. (Dog curious-suspicious)

Notes from Home
When she came home with me, a sad, skinny, half-shaved tripod with burned paw pads, Tiara just didn't seem like the right name. She didn't quite tell me what else to call her, though, so we went with "Titi". She has grown a plush coat and her paws are soft as a baby's bum. Admittedly, she looks pitiful when moving slowly, but don't let that fool you--she moves like greased lightning at dinner time! Given her emaciated state upon adoption, I used to free feed her, which resulted in a little piggy cat. Luckily, the missing rear leg means she's not much of a jumper, so I can control her diet at floor level, while her two siblings get another bowl up on the counter (this after several failed locations where Titi displayed tremendous cunning and athleticism to get to a food dish, including great leaps, climbing, and maze-solving). She is always looking for a handout or petting (though she doesn't appreciate being held), and her MOST favorite person is her (human) uncle, who pets *just* right. At our annual checkup this year (age est 11) , the doctor said she has the teeth of a two year old! She's a beautiful girl who charms all who meet her. Thanks for letting me take her home!

Notes from Home
Nala (fka Glinda) has settled in quite well. She was very comfortable with me from day 1. No feeding problems. Thanks to alert foster, Donna, I was able to "Glinda-proof" my home prior to her arrival. Used up all my pillows, blankets, towels and boxes to close off the underneath spaces of all my furniture.
She started coming out of the room in which her carrier and food are located a bit more starting on day 12 here. But, right now, we are having 3 good days, then fall back 2. Two weeks and two days into the adoption, she still feels most comfortable staying in her carrier, on which I simply removed the door.
She has let me know that she is not ready for me to pick her up, so our visit to the vet yesterday was
a bit extra stressful on her because I needed to corner her with the carrier. She did voluntarily get in and had an excellent checkup with the vet, but her out-of-carrier time after we returned home reverted to what it had been initially.
The vet here suggests that with her history, it will be best to treat her like a human military person with PTSD. She was prescribed Zylkene to help with calming her down naturally. Additionally, I had noticed that her left eye (not the one thought to have corneal opacities which were determined by my vet to be mere "sun spots" - probably a result of her being outside for a prolonged period of time) was squinting frequently. I was told that this is a classic sign of herpes, so we have started the cat on L-Lysine. Vet was pleased with her health and told me, "I have a good feeling about this kitty."
She and my 7-lb., 14 yr old Shih-Tzu get along just fine. They accept each other as if they had been together since day 1.
So, at this point, my goal is to continue to urge Nala to become more assured of her surroundings. She has no problem coming to me when I am in the room, but, at this point, she has not interest
of venturing out into the rest of the house. I will wait as long as necessary for her to feel safe here.
Love this girl. She's really special.

July 6, 2018

It's hard to believe that a year has passed since Nala came to live with us. What a joy! I've attached a few photos and one short video covering the last 12 months.

From her behavior and increasing confidence in all things connected with our one-on-one interactions, I'm pretty sure that I have gained her trust. But, she still has, and may always have, fear of reached-out arms coming toward her - being picked up. She spends a great time in my lap, but always on her terms and when she decides she wants to jump up. She is still very cautious in the presence of other humans, usually preferring to run away and hide until they are no longer here.

The most amazing part of her being here with us though, is the instant bond that happened when she and our dog (7-lb, 15-1/2yr ShihTzu) met. Nala instinctively picked up on the rapidly declining health of her “sister” and has taken on the role, all on her own, as the dog's service cat! While the dog is outside for her walks or potty time, Nala sits squarely in the center of the front storm glass door and meows/cries until I return the dog to her. She then sidles up to the dog, who is totally deaf, legally blind and has begun to experience deterioration of her lower spine, presses herself in toward the dog and then walks/guides the dog down the hallway, helping her turn the corner without falling and then continuing on until she and the dog have reached the kitchen. (See short video) She also knows when the dog is experiencing pain and lies down right next to the dog, licking her head (not grooming, just licking.)

This afternoon we're going to the vet for her first, official annual checkup. I’ll try and post the results afterward.

All in all, the three of us have a good, regular daily life together, and we are blessed and thankful that Nala is a part of it. Thank you all for helping to make that happen.

CHARMING CHARLIE
I was SO sad at the shelter, wouldn't eat and was languishing in my sadness being taken away from my home and in a cage. The shelter knew they needed to get me outta there, and along came Foster Lady who made me feel loved and safe and in just two days with some fluids and a bath, I'm eating, purring, talking, making biscuits, climbing into arms and crawling under covers and flopping on my side for snuggles & pets! I'm a wonderful chocolate lab boy, disguised as a chocolate meezer!

Purrs & headbutts,

Notes from Home
"Prince" Charming Charlie, as we now call him,has arrived at his forever home! We can't thank every committed volunteer that was involved in this process enough for our new little boy(LaShawn, Andrea, Katie and Siri- to name a few)!! We absolutely love love him! He is so laid back, loving, playful, talkative, and absolutely beautiful! He moved in and was immediately comfortable in his surroundings and with people. My 10 year old Siamese seal point female, Isabella, is slowly coming around to him- if he can't win her over, no one can- he is her "Prince Charming"! My vet says he is a very healthy boy and was very impressed with the SCRC adoption process in place. Bill and I are very thankful and extremely grateful to have Charlie in our family.
Submitted with gratitude,
Julie

Prince Charming Charlie has won over his "princess" Isabella! He is her constant companion and just adores her! Charlie moved in from day1 and never looked back. He is a very loving, playful, healthy- he's gained some much needed weight- beautiful boy. Charlie gets my husband up at 6am sharp every morning to eat and play- no alarm clock needed! He just experienced his first Xmas with us- mesmerized by the tree, ornaments and oh so many toys and treats!! We will be unwrapping them all for days to come- he and Isabella get exhausted from playing with them and have to take a nap! They must pace themselves. Our family is complete with Charming Charlie and our hearts are now full once again. Thank you for giving him the chance of a new life. He constantly make us laugh at his antics as Isabella rolls her eyes at her new boy- we know she loves him!

Charlie spent his 1year anniversary stealing all of Isabella's favorite spots starting with the top of the kitchen cabinets! He loves everything she loves and he especially loves her! We couldn't be happier with the relationship that they have built- we challenged Isabella to accept any other companion and he has been her best buddy! He still can't cuddle with her while sleeping but they are always together. He chirps and plays with her and when he gets himself in trouble, he always offers her his favorite toy(3ft feather stick) as a reconciliation gift. Charlie's recent blood work showed a perfectly healthy beautiful chocolate point. He has learned that he loves his attention from us as he probably didn't get much in his hoarder situation. We are so very happy to have him in our family- we love our silly boy! Thank you LaShawn, our angel, and Andrea!

Charlie enjoyed his 2 year anniversary sleeping with his girl, Isabella ( she smells so good), and romping and playing with his SCRC younger brother, Beauregard! He has grown into quite a big handsome, healthy, loving guy, head strong but extremely gentle, like a teddy bear. Charlie is very generous with his wand toys, dragging them all over the house and even up on the bed- we will wake up to a pile of them in the morning as they are presented as gifts while he head butts us to wake up! We are incredibly thankful to have him in our meezer family!

Charlie's 3rd Anniversary finds him well and loving his new bird/squirrel feeder. He still marvels at his Isabella, who continues to tease him incessantly. Loves his baby brother, Beauregard , his best bud and is completely bonded with his Pop. Charlie has no cares in the world- a perfect life, as it should be! Watch out for July, 2017 Siamese Cat Rescue calendar - Charming Charlie is the centerfold! We are so proud!

Happy 4th anniversary! Charming Charlie pretty much thinks he is KING. He has grown into that big head(little body) he had when we first adopted him and is quite the big guy now! Isabella is still the center of his universe and Beauregard his best bud. He loves everyone he meets and has become quite the Daddy's boy. Nothing seems to bother him except for getting brushed and having his nails done. I am not sure if there was a former history there...but he gets his treats and all is well. I can never thank LaShawn enough for rescuing him- he is such a good boy and he is so very loved!

DEVIN CHICKADEE (DEEDEE)
I am a nice sweet girl. Busy body little girl always checking things out! I don't like sitting still so it is hard to get a picture of me in focus. I love to get nummies on my tummy. I am good around other kitties and around dogs too. Foster mom says I need to be part of the circus because I am a curious monkey. She says she can't do a thing without my supervision. I know how much she needs help so I do what I can!

COSMO (FKA NEAL)
After a 4 year hiatus, I have returned to Siamese Rescue through no fault of my own or anyone's, really. Sometimes health issues arise that are unforeseen that require major changes but now, I have settled into my foster home and things aren't too bad.

I like to sit on the top of the cat tree and look out the window. I will lay in the cubbie hole in the tree and wait for Foster Meowm to call my name then I give a little "mew" and peek out at her. It is a fun game we play.

There are lots of fun toys to pounce on and play with here. I really like the crocheted ones on a stick and the little catnip ones.

every night before bedtime, I get brushed. My fur is short but thick and brushing feels so good. I will roll all around and purr. Then it is snuggle time!

If I sound like the kind of kitty for you, then ask about me.

BLUE
Super sweet guy who is very vocal with a meezer voice and ready to tell you what he thinks about life. Very sensitive and wants a human buddy. Has been with his buddy, Callie, since he was a kitten. Would be best as your only cats.
Not a good traveler so no excessive distances to travel to adopter.

I never dreamed the first day with Callie and Blue would be so easy. They travelled great, used the litter box right away, ate and drank welll, and have been so sweet and affectionate. We love them! Thank you to all!

Blue is such a darling and his weight is already almost back up to where it should be. He's so smart and curious and likes to announce whenever the dog enters the room. 😂 He has also shown signs of that uncanny Siamese sixth sense. He woke me up when I had forgotten to set my alarm (at the right time), and in his second night here he got me out of bed and lead me to my toddler who, it turns out, was about ten seconds from getting sick in her crib. Thanks for looking out for me, bugs!❤️

We can’t imagine our household without our “Blueberry Boy.” He’s so sweet and involved- he’s more like having a very well behaved dog than a cat! He’s had no problems, except for a brief bout of chin acne (got a new bowl), and he’s up over 8 pounds and looks great. We always compliment him on his regal bearing. 😊
