OLIVIA
I was a stray outdoors found with my kitten. A nice man found me while he was jogging, and now here I am! It's good to be indoors where it's warm, with lots of food. My kitten is safe too, with another rescue. I'm just a tiny thing, very friendly and outgoing. I'm only 6 pounds of Meow, says foster mom. I get along fine with the other cats here, and even play with some of them. I talk - especially when breakfast is late! Need a tiny little kitty? Then ask about me.

Notes from Home
It has taken a while for Olivia, adopted in December of 2010, and Ernest (AKA Ridgeway), adopted in July of 2010, to become family, but they are now brother and sister!! Integrating them was a long and difficult process. Now they "play" together without someone taking things the wrong way, and they gang up on the humans to get treats or other things that they want. The time and effort was definitely worth it. We are having a great time with them!

MUKLUK
Okay, I admit it, I am one big FLIRT! I roll all over, show my belly, and wave my paws in the air. If you're not paying enough attention I make little googlie noises till you see me. I bat my eyelashes and wiggle my tush and do every trick in the book I can think of. All the rest of the cats look on in disgust and say I just like to be a kiss *ss, but they're just jealous because they have all these quirky Siamese hangups that I just don't bring with me. I walk into any house and am immediately at home. I absolutely believe in belly rubs on the first date! I'm very neat and clean in my habits, have just had dental work done, and look forward to being your kissy faced guy really soon! (PS I would be excellent with children!)

Mukluk is the most adorable love bug! He talks, purrs, sleeps on top of me, and has the usual evening crazy running around the house! He opens folding closet doors by reaching under and pulling them open, and he tries to open regular doors by standing way tall and trying to turn the doorknob with his paws! He is just so smart! But most of all he is a regular Casanova with the people ladies, and is well loved by me, my roommate, my boyfriend, my kids, and my friends! What a delight!

Notes from Home
Mikey has been renamed Geezer. He has adapted very well into our home. Within hours of being here, he was snuggled on the couch and has found that the couch & the bed are his favorite places. He is very loving to everyone in our home and is a great companion. He loves to talk, purr and demands attention.... He is a great addition to our family!

10/4/09 - Geezer had his first vet visit on Wednesday and they said he is in good health. He now has figured out that if his people don't communicate on his feedings, he can try and get an extra meal out of someone. We now keep a checklist near his food. He loves spending time on the screened in porch. More updates to come!

10/22/09 - Geezer is just a pleasure to have in our home. His favorite things to do are sleep, eat & talk... He is becoming more playful and cuddly... Again, we couldn't be happier with our new family member!

11/19/09 - Geezer still doing great!

12/9/09 - Geezer is getting more & more comfortable everyday. He has pretty much put us on a schedule. After he eats, he demands to have someone lay on the floor with him and pet him and then he's off for a nap. He has taught the dog that he is okay with her existence as long as she stays 3 feet from him at all times. Luckily, she's an older dog and sleeps most of the day.

3/19/2010 - Geezer knows this is his forever home! Lucy passed away last month and he now has taken over the entire house! He begins his day the moment the first human wakes up and he demands breakfast. After breakfast he goes through the house to make sure everyone knows his presence with his great meezer voice! He spends his days sleeping in the bay window or out on the sun porch.

6/19/10 - Geez went for his yearly vet visit yesterday and received a great report card. Dr. M said he's doing great. He's gain a pound since he arrived. He now weighs 14.7 lbs. He now is in the habit of waking up someone around 4:30am to start HIS day. He wants to be fed, then hugged and pet and then let out onto the sun porch for the day.

1/25/11 - Geez still doing well. Had an issue with constipation a few months ago but is now on medicine to help with that. He is not happy with winter as he loves being on the sun porch. He goes out on to it almost every day and when he realizes its cold he comes right back in. We found over the summer he enjoys walking on a leash in the yard. He spends most of the day sleeping. We are thinking of adopting another cat as a companion.

3/2/11 - Geezer doing well. He's not exactly thrilled at the arrival of Abby but he isn't too terribly mean to her either. They exchange hisses here and there but it's mostly a peaceful coexistence. He does enjoy the added food bowl he can sneak bites out of!

4/18/11 - Geezer passed away today. He had lost 2 lbs in the last two weeks and was very lathargic, very unsteady on his feet to the point at times he would fall over when walking, and when he was out of his chair, he would get confused about what he was doing. Vet believes he had a brain tumor. He will be missed but we are happy that we had him for the time we did.

FIORELLA
Oh come on, you know the old saying that girls just want to have fun! Really, it is all in fun. Sure, I'm a little diva-ish but I'm a gorgeous smarty-pants Siamese, after all! I'm young and vivacious, energetic and fun loving, mischievous and impish, and a superb companion one on one! I promise to keep you on toes and to keep things a hopping! KITZIE
Beautiful, friendly lap sitter who loves attention and needs a home where I can get LOTS of it. I'll be the apple of your eye and bring you lots of smiles. Let's chat today!
Purrs,
Kitzie

Notes from Home
It's now been a little over four months since Kitzie came to brighten our lives. She is a perfect fit for our family and made that clear from day one. She still loves head butting, chats occasionally with us in her meezer-way, but also tends to drool when really happy and gives love nibbles when particularly satisfied with a petting session.

Health update: About a week and a half ago, we noticed her starting to limp ever-so-slightly...within one day it had worsened to the point where she would not put any weight on it at all and so after concluding there was nothing we could see that was obvious (splinter, etc) we took her to our vet. After her exam and a series of X-rays, we received some disturbing news. She had a complete fracture and major degradation of her arm and the scapula. The fracture happened as a result of jumping down from furniture to the best of our and the vet's guessing. The vets (the whole team) felt it was not repairable due to the severity, location, and damage. We made an incredibly difficult decision based on the vets' recommendations to amputate, which occurred last week. She was put on antibiotics and steroids, and baseline X-Rays were conducted at the initial visit to assess any changes in her lungs, as the likelihood was cancer, and the most common place for malignancy is the lungs. This was all very devastating to us-Kitzie is the newest member of our family, we adore her, and we anticipated many many years of happiness with and a wonderful quality of life for her.

We received the pathology report today and it's is apparently and blessedly not cancer, though the vet assured us that the decision to remove Kitzie's arm was very much the right decision, as the bone was necrotic and would not have been able to be repaired; and would have made her quite ill. The vet is asking the pathologist to run the tests one more time but we are keeping our fingers crossed...

And Kitzie? She's adjusting beautifully to her new status as three-legged-companion. She's feisty about her medications but otherwise such a sweet and gentle soul...She's really gone back to her routine, insisting on food and litter box placement as before with her schedule back to the way it was pre-surgery. Stitches come out next Monday and we will hopefully, be back to "normal" or...our new normal. We are to follow up with X-Rays in 3-6 months on her lungs (I'm pushing for 3 just to be safe) and continue onward...this bump in the road was certainly not expected or one we would have wished for Kitzie, but she's completely worth every bit of our efforts to give her a happy, healthy life.

Thanks again so much to the whole team for helping us through the first leg of our journey!
~The Lee family

Dear friends,
Since Kitzie's stitches came out and she recovered from the surgery, life had pretty much gotten back to normal. Her fur had completely grown back in and she was gorgeous as ever. She was happy and active and a fully participating member of our family, well-loved and loving. About two weeks ago, she started losing weight extremely rapidly. As her health declined, her spirit never wavered. She continued to eat, although much less, purr with as much enthusiasm as she could muster, and even give the occasional, much-welcomed head butt. Mobility became more and more difficult for Kitzie. She became lost and would often try and wedge herself into places she barely fit and could not get out of. She kitty-paced off and on all night. On Saturday, she was disoriented and restless. I laid her on my chest and let her sleep for about an hour. I talked to her and pet her gently and she purred softly. I then made the extremely difficult decision to help her to the Rainbow Bridge. Kitzie was put to sleep in a loving environment at the emergency animal clinic and I looked into her eyes, told her how much I love her, and pet her while she crossed over. She never moved-she was just finally at peace.
Later, when I told my daughter, she said "don't worry mama, she went to heaven and can play with (our previous cat) now. It's going to be ok, mama." Kitzie can now run on all four legs, can "mash potatoes" again (she lost that ability when she lost her leg) and feels so much better over all. She was a delight to my family and me-truly the sweetest cat I've had the honor to serve. She was an angel. Though her time with us was all too brief, she is and will always be missed. We love you, Kitzie.

Much gratitude goes out to our vets here in Memphis, who served Kitzie and our family with so much kindness and the wonderful team at Siamese Rescue-it has been a wonderful journey with a wonderful team.
Kitzie went to the Rainbow Bridge on 4/16/2011

STREISAND

Looking for a home that's looking for me - a low maintenance, easy going, perfectly adorned gorgeous corner ornament. I'm not too vocal, I'm not a wild child, I'm perfect in my food and litterbox habits, and I need a quiet home. I'm easy maintenance, and while I don't kiss on the first date, I'll be quick to blossom with a soft voice and a soft hand into a very solid friendly companion!

Streisand (Sami) has been doing just great. It is her 5-year anniversary with us and she is a happy little girl. It took her a while to feel at home, but last year she actually jumped up on me and laid down on my tummy while I was taking a nap. That was REALLY BIG for her. She has always been at home with my Shih Tzu's but was a little leary of people. She absolutely does not like her back end above her tail touched. Must be where she was swatted before. She never hides when people come in the house....most of the time she is right there greeting them. She is only vocal around 6AM when she wants to be fed. Other than that, most of the time you wouldn't know she is around.

Notes from Home
Well, I've spent the entire winter at my furrever home, and I just love it here. I have tons of spaces to explore and hide in, and a furry big brother who really likes to play with me... day and night. We're such good buddies that when one of us calls, the other one comes. Fast movements and noises still scare me a lot, and my first urge when anybody approaches me is to run, but Meowmy and Paw Paw know how to get close to me and make me feel relaxed. Then I purr real loud, especially when they rub my belly. I like the smaller humans too, even though they move a little fast. I especially like hiding under the little girls bed. If she would just calm down a little, she could be my favorite human. My favorite activity is watching birds. I like to sit on the window sill in the kitchen and chirp at them while they eat from the bird feeder.

I have really grown up a lot and I'm betting Foster Meowmy won't recognize me!

COBALT
Friendly, outgoing, purring machine looking for my new family. I was outside and got lost, but no one came to find me. I'm easy going, fun loving, and very friendly - the great outdoors may tempt me again, however, so you'll have to watch those front doors. As long as I have lots of loving, lots of laps, and lots of attention, we should be fine!

Lemmy is a lovely cat who is in love with my husband. His favorite place is in my husband's lap on the couch. My husband will often have his laptop computer in his lap and Lemmy will muscle his way into his lap so he can curl up and take a bath or a nap. Lemmy can be a real pain when it comes to eating. He is very good at pretending he hasn't been fed in a long time and he tries to trick us into giving him more kibble! He is sometimes successful especially since there are two of us to take advantage of! In the morning if he is feeling particularly hungry he will hop on my chest and purrrr very loudly to let me know it is time to get up and feed him. We have also discovered that it appears his previous owners must have abused him with a spray bottle. Whenever we are cleaning and he hears the sound he gets very frightened and runs away. He also loves getting brushed. Lemmy is a cat with simple needs. All he wants is his lap, his food, and his brush!! I have attached a photograph I took of him this morning in my husband's lap. We call the blanket "his momma" because he loves to make biscuits on it.
