HOLLY
I am Holly, but you probably already know that if you are reading this.
Foster M says I am silky soft. And I really enjoy a good conversation. I will converse with whomever wishes to discuss current events with me.
I have to admit I'm not too sure about dogs. It's a trauma thing. You see I was given up once for a dog and then the next people gave me up for whatever reason. One of those "the cat or me" type things. Guess he couldn't handle the competition. But I've always been treated well so my sweet nature has remained intact. I just don't like the dog.
"M" doesn't yet know how I might react to cats, but time will tell I'm told.
The boy kitty that lives here has snuck in a couple of times. I wasn't impressed by his cavalier attitude, so I did what any sweet-natured self-respecting girl would do - I hid.
Stay in touch....there will be more later.

Six month update, July 10, 2011, copied and pasted per Margaret's request:
Update, I am just so grateful to both of you for both Sydney and Holly!! I feel
so fortunate to have adopted two such fabulous cats!! After 6 mo. of
living together, they are able to be closer --circling or sleeping about
3 feet apart. Once in a while Sydney--who arrived so confident from the
beginning and behaved as if she had been the resident cat--still chases
Holly and hisses a bit, but those episodes are rare now. Sydney often
experiences a brief asthma attack after chasing Holly so between that
and my "no," she rarely does it now.

Holly talks more--after watching Sydney anxiously calling for food, and
circling under the food dish, desperate for her food to be put down.
Holly now lets out a little cry as I put her food dish in front of
her--about 4-5 feet away from Sydney. (I have to watch Sydney to make
sure she doesn't go after the remaining food in Holly's dish.) Holly
will now also cry a little as she leaps up on the couch or on my bed and
comes over asking for some love! She also loves to leap up on the
bathroom sink and call to me to please turn on the water. She licks the
bottom edge of the faucet and actually seems to catch only small amounts
of water!

Both LOVE to be brushed and combed every morning! They love to play with
their toys! Sometimes Sydney goes upstairs and sleeps on my bed after
breakfast, and Holly stays down--so I have an upstairs and a downstairs
cat. But lately Sydney sleeps in the kitchen on some low cabinets that
sit in the middle of the kitchen, and Holly sleeps 3-4 feet away in a
carpeted box/tray half way up a new carpeted multi-layered cat climbing
"tree" in front of one of the windows.

Sydney gets up on the kitchen counter and has evidently encouraged Holly
who gets up on a cabinet with plants and a radio nearby. Sydney once
knocked a mug off the kitchen counter which broke and one night I heard
a bang when I was in bed, and went down to find that Sydney had gone to
the back of the kitchen counter and pulled an almost empty glass bottle
of olive oil to the edge and it fell off but didn't break :-)! So I've
been putting pan lids or other uninviting objects on the edge of the
counter to discourage Sydney's night time adventures on the counter!

Sydney will come up to me when I am reading the paper or watching TV
with a little cry--seeking some love. She will come into my lap briefly,
but does not want to be held for long. That is true for Holly, too. If
I'm lying on the floor to watch TV, Sydney comes up and wants to groom
my hair!

Friends I have had over for dinner are very enthused about Sydney who is
very outgoing and friendly and they think she is beautiful! She
sometimes even leaps into one of their laps briefly. Holly usually does
not come out when I have guests.

I have a wonderful cat sitter who loved my Smokey who died, and loves
Sydney, but is disappointed that Holly has not warmed up to her. Kay is
great with cats--had 4 older ones and is down to one now. She is 75 and
thinks from now on she will be a foster mom--maybe more for senior cats.
She also goes to a neighbor in N. Cambridge to cat sit for a woman who
has two very lovely Siamese cats she is fond of. So I think, if you need
a Cambridge foster mom, she might consider it. However, I just
recommended her to a woman who is going away for 3-4 months in the Fall
and needed someone to foster her 2 cats, and Kay has agreed to do that.
Her name is Kay Shanahan, 617-876-0972. She does not have a computer.

Again, thank you both for allowing me to adopt two such terrific cats!!

SYDNEY
Here I sit broken hearted, came as a temp and haven't departed.
But I will, I know I will.
Although I do like it here. The cats are cool and I have this great new basket bed that I really like. Well not the bed so much as the placement of it - near the wood stove vent. I say bring it on baby!!!! Crank that puppy. Yeah pump out those BTUs.
So a bit about myself. I am 9 years young, have lived as an only "child" all those years but guess what? I like the other furkids here. Even that dog isn't so bad. And met a puppy on Christmas Day. Yeah I did - yeah I survived as did he!!! He even laid on the sofa beside me.
So I can live with other pets, and older kids too.
I'm well rounded. I do need to have my lovely fur brushed 2 to 3 times a week so I don't get matted.
I eat well, use the litterbox faithfully...I'm just a really really good sweet girl.
Let's start our New Year on the right foot (for me paw). I need a home, you need a friend....let's start a new chapter for the New Year.

1 month update:
Sydney walked in as if she felt right at home immediately, explored, and still does. She is absolutely precious and delightful! She has the most voracious appetite of any cat I have known. She always sounds so desperate when I start to prepare her food and circles under the dish I am carrying, leaping up with joy! She's had a positive effect on Holly, who is eating better, and let's out a little cry to join in--as I put her dish in front of her. Holly has been fascinated by the way Sydney wolfs down her food!
Sydney still hisses once in a while and chases Holly, but Holly does not seem upset. She'll run faster if Sydney chases her. One evening Sydney was curled up in a chair, and Holly curled up on the living room floor about 2 feet from each other, looking at each other and not hissing.
I am so grateful to you, Paula, and to you, Mary, for my new family member--and for the chance to adopt Sydney, even though you prefer not to allow a household with a resident female to adopt a female. I feel so fortunate! Oh, and Sydney has recovered well from her teeth extraction--now eats dry food.

TRUFFLE
OK, guys. I'm ready for you to love me! How is it that no one has offered to serve me the rest of me the rest of my life yet? Foster mom says you don't know what you're missing! I get along with other cats great and love to play. I don't even mind that smelly dog too much. Some of my best features? Non-stop purring, a coat so soft and plush you can bury your face in it, and of course my winning personality. I love to get attention from foster mom, and I also love to do my own thing and explore sometimes. So, wake up and smell the chocolate Truffle!

Notes from Home
Hi! It's me! Truffle!

Sorry it has taken so long to write, but I have been BUSY! Back in February, I moved to North Carolina to live with two people and a really big dog. I started purring the minute I got out of my cat carrier because I was so happy to be home! I have a nice house with lots of big windows to look out of and lots of plants to play with (I really like plants). I purr all the time and am very talkative. I can even purr and talk at the same time! My people say that I am “irrepressible.” I don’t really know what that means, but it has to be good, right?!? I love to be right where my people are and I run to greet them whenever they come home. I am a very good “helper” cat. I help with dinner. I help read the newspaper each morning. I help with the computer (I can type, but my spelling is not very good). And whoever said that cats don’t like water??? I love to help water the plants and help out by the sink!

So what have I been doing? Well, I really, really like my food and I had to train my people about that. I am very particular about what time I expect to be fed . . . . Eventually I got to meet the dog (I knew she was here). Guess what! She is really cool (for a dog). She lets me drink out of her water bowl and sleep on her bed. She doesn’t even mind it too much when I run around and chase things. Life is good here. Thanks to everyone at Siamese Rescue, especially my foster Rinn!!!

P.S. Check out my new pix!

Update from Truffle’s people: Well, Truffle took all of about 5 minutes to adjust to her new home. She is not afraid of anything, including our large dog. She is a very social cat and wants to be right in the middle of things. She will run ahead of you, purring, and then flop over on her back and meow for you to “pay attention to me.” She is not exactly a graceful cat, but that is part of her charm. Sometimes she sits on her haunches like a meerkat. She is fascinated by many things: running water, bugs outside the window, rocks in planters, newspapers. She likes being with her people and with our dog. As hoped, they have become friends and good company for each other. Truffle has tons of personality. She is rarely at a loss for words. She talks and purrs all the time and even makes noises when she runs or jumps. About the name - we had intended to change her name, but Truffle just seems to suit her. So Truffle it is. Long live the Truff!

PENNY (FKA PRECIOUS)
Santa, can you hear me? I've just celebrated my first anniversary in a foster home, and while I'm grateful to be here, I sure would like a home and family of my very own. I've been a good girl...well okay, not perfect, but as good as I can be. Would you pleeeese consider my only request to make my life complete, and bring me a forever family to love? Thanks Santa, I know you'll do your best.

Someone (other than me) thinks I'm pretty special, so I now have a full adoption scholarship to help me find a home of my own.

Wow, thank you Santa, I have a real forever home!!

Notes from Home
Kathi, I love her so much, we really have a wonderful bond. She is definitely attached to me - likes to be around me all the time. And she understands when I talk to her - she knows when I am being serious and when I am kidding. She is extremely smart, and she can sense when I need some extra comfort if I am feeling bad. She is just so great - I don't know what I would do without her. I am so lucky to have her.

7/8/11Poor Penny is terrified of thunder. She can't find a hiding place quick enough. She'll stay in the same room as me, but will either run under the bed or just camp out behind the sofa if I'm in the living room. She's almost as scared of thunder as she is of the vacuum cleaner!

She really likes to be up in high places, (see staircase picture). There is another picture where she is standing on the mantle - this is exactly where she waits for me every evening when I come home and tries to jump down and run outside the second I come in! She sleeps on top of my coat when I am too lazy to hang it up (I know it's summer, but my office is freezing, so I always take a coat with me to work). When she sleeps on the bed she often stretches out her long body and sleeps on her back. She tends to stay on her half of the bed, even when I am not there. And then my favorite picture - she is just too regal to drink like all the other cats - she should be able to drink while lying down :) I only saw her doing this once, but I quickly snapped a picture!

Penny's doing real well, we have completely bonded. She is such a happy, easygoing, well adjusted cat that is honestly too smart for her own good. I know we have talked about "the look" before -but it is kind of scary! She has this one really accusatory face that she gives me when she really wants to go outside and I am trying to ignore her pleas. The good thing about her is she really doesn't hold a grudge, she may be annoyed that I won't let her out, but she gets over it real quick.

DELILAH
My new daddy got called up for the Air Force just two days after he adopted me, so I am back in rescue. I am as sweet as ever, just a stunning little tiny blue point Siamese. All I really need in life is a person or two who will love me forever and ever, no matter what. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE people and will sit on you, sleep on you,, cuddle with you and give you headbutts and kisses all day long if you will let me do that. I want to sleep and cuddle with you a night - don't shut me out of your life as I need to be with my people. I am a very good girl in every way, but I don't like other cats, so I do need to be an only.

If you are looking for a sweet, loving, adorable tiny little girl, be sure to ask about me. I'm all ready to go home. Purrs, headbutts and cuddled, Delilah.

Wow! Has it been a month already? Ms. Delilah has become the queen of the castle. Initially, her night time habits took a little time to adjust. I wasn't use to scratching, eating and playing at 3 am. However, Delilah has finally realized that her peoples don't awaken until 6 am. So she patiently waits at the foot of the bed until morning then she is ready for all the love she can gather before it's off to work. She is a kind gentil spirit. We are so glad she has chosen us as her foever parents.

BENJAMIN
Looking for an instant family? One that comes with two cats, two scratching posts, two beds, and two bundles of love and Siameseness? That would be June and I! We are two very involved, chatty, in your face snugglebunnies who must sleep with you, and will be involved in everything you do day in and day out! We have good history behind us so we can share exactly what you're going to get!

Notes from Home
(See my sister Juniper's notes also)

7/4/11 - Benjamin's second holiday with me. He's definitely the more mellow of the pair. Liked a lap from the get go, is usually the first (if not only) to venture down if someone else is in the house. He's still having some stomach issues, but much less frequently than at first. Now if he would just get off the couch when it happens (the hard floors are much easier to clean) it would hardly be an issue at all. He's developed one odd quirk - he seems to believe that sitting on the toilet is the way humans let cats know they want to pet one so he always comes running in!

--------
6/14/11 - I'm going to post a note because my sister Juniper is still a bit crabby about yesterday's adventure. We've been settling really well at our new home. Juniper and I have even started having cat wrestling matches at night, which worried our new mom at first since she's never had more than one cat, but everyone has assured her we're just playing. I have asserted sole control of her lap during the day, but Juniper gets to sleep on her at night. (Don't tell her, but I actually prefer snuggling up next to mom's face.)

As for the adventure. We went to meet our new vet yesterday. Everyone there was happy to see mom again, so we definitely were further reassured that we've found a good new mom. Plus, they were all properly appreciative of how beautiful we were. But, it turns out that even though she's a girl, Joon really doesn't like getting a mani/pedi! We should have gotten a hint when she was hissing at Dr. Kathy when I was getting mine, but you should have heard the noices she made when she got hers! Since it doesn't hurt at all, I'm not sure what her problem was, other than putting them on notice that she has cattitude. Earned her a bad kitty merit badge I think. I prefer being known as the good one. And I really like that mom doesn't squirm when I make bread on her anymore.

We were both really happy to get back to our new home though!

JUNIPER
Yes, Ben is the handsome one, I am the smart one. Okay, you're right, I'm so smart I don't need to tell you that I'm the prettiest one, I'm just trying to make Ben feel good :) We are two well adjusted Meezers that are very Siamese and thus very involved. I really like to do things like laundry (I carry it around the house deciding where it should be put); we both like to snuggle with you at night (all night please!) and we both eat dry food only (and come with our own bag to start with). Wonderful pair for someone wanting to start out their Meezer family!

Notes from Home
(Check Benjamin also for different pictures.)

7/4/11 - Well Juniper is now celebrating her second holiday in my house. She's settled in really well. Of the two, she's the one that wants to be with me whenever I'm home. After a few weeks she decided to try the lap also, and that has caused some occasional spats when they both wanted the lap. She's still the more cautious of the two most of the time, though last weekend she was the first to come down when my friend Gayle was visiting, went right up to her to greet her, and then hung out with us the rest of the afternoon. She definately likes to bite (I say this because she'll bite down and move to a new location rather than continuing to gnaw) on certain types of things - shoe laces, sweat pant drawstrings and webbing on tote bags. She also plays more than her mellow brother.
----------------------
6/14/11 - Well if you've read Benjamin's update, you'll know we're doing well. As for yesterday's adventure, he should be happy that I tried to stick up for him. Yes, I know that getting nails trimmed doesn't really hurt, but those vets sometimes like to do things that do hurt. So somebody had to put them on notice of what I'm capable of.

FARAI
DID YOU KNOW that a baby cat can also be a momma cat? I found that out the hard way. I'm only a little over 12 months old myself. I was just a young teenage kitten when I became a mom.

DID YOU KNOW that some people will give their young momma cat and 3 day old babies to a shelter? I found that out the hard way too! Of course this busy shelter did not have time for a young momma and tiny babies. Oh no! I'm in trouble again!

DID YOU KNOW that there are some very good people in this world? I found that out too! Some nice people found my kittens and me a place to go until my kittens were big enough to be weaned and I could become a Siamese Rescue kitty. Sadly, my kittens only lived a few weeks.

DID YOU KNOW that I've completed Adoption 101 and am ready to come home with you? My manners are PURRRRFECT, I love people, I love cats, I love dogs (well, I don't mind them), I REALY love to play, and I love you!

Notes from Home
I changed the name from Kannika to Sarai, which supposedly means Princess in Thai. I could not be happier with this cat! She just fits in perfectly with my household. When I got her home and let her out of her carrier, I expected her to run behind the toilet in the small bathroom where I was isolating her. Instead, she jumped up on the tub where I was sitting, rubbed against me and asked to be petted. She seemed so much at home right from the beginning, that I only kept her in the bathroom about 4 days. I introduced her individually to the 3 other cats and the 2 dogs and there seemed to be no problems, though I had to laugh when my big Marmalade male, Intrepid - who usually lives up to his name- acted a little afraid when this young upstart walked up to him and put her nose in his face. Now he enjoys grooming her as he does the other cats. I recently purchased a cat tree but did not put it together while the Christmas tree was up as there is not enough space in my living room. At first all the cats ignored it, though I did notice that the hanging toy had disappeared, indicating that someone had been on it. I found the toy and put it up on the tree. Soon I saw Sarai get on the tree, take the toy in her mouth and carry it away. Now both she and Intrepid are enjoying playing and sleeping on it and I hope that the other cats will soon follow their lead. She is gradually learning that the dogs won't hurt her, but will chase her if she runs. Several times she has been in their midst without them knowing it and she doesn't seem to let them keep her from doing anything she wants to do. I have one dog-free room in the house, which is the den, and the cats can go in there when they don't care for the company of the dogs. I also feed them in there, as the dogs think cat food is a real treat. (The grass is always greener, etc. Intrepid also likes the dog's food and sometimes eats from their dishes.) Sarai is a very sweet, affectionate, and smart kitty who seems to have a lot of self-confidence. She is a real joy!

BABY
Yes, yes, I know. It's not a very sophisticated name. But when you're 17 pounds of declawed big cat nice guy, people say the same thing to me repeatedly - 'you are such a lovely big Baby!'. I've lived as the only cat but am very cat curious. I adore my person and follow them everywhere. I'm very well behaved in all departments, and needless to say I love my food. Yes, I need to lose some weight (slowly and carefully please). I'm a little nervous at new things and fast movements but overall take everything in stride. So if you'd like someone to stride along next to you, let me know, because I'm ready and willing, and come with my food, litterbox, cat perch, toys, bowls, carrier and all my belongings!

Baby is doing GREAT!! He is content. He has lost approx. 2.5lbs so far and wants to lose 3 more. He has adjusted very well to his new diet. Baby is my little buddy and I am so happy to have him.

We are going to pick up our newest family member on July 6th. Her name is Bella Vita. I can't wait! Siri was so kind to recommend her because of both her and Babys' similar personalities.

MILEY
Hi, I'm Miley. I'm a bit scared and confused rith now, but am relaxing and enjoying pets from meowmy. You see one day I had a home, and the next I was in a cage alone, had a surgury, and then moved to a strange new place. I beginning to see that this place is ok, but it isn't a home, and that's what I'd like most........ a forever home where I won't have to be uprooted again.

I'm not too sure about the other cats here, so I'll have to let you know more as I settle in, but if you think you'd like a young seal girl like me, hit the ask about me button.

Notes from Home
Miley has become a huge part of our family! She has pretty much taken over the house, queen bee all around. I think she may be part dog! Miley loves to run to the door when she hears someone come in and she always makes sure to give us a loud HELLO when we walk in.

Miley loves to play and she sure has tons of toys. The boys try to get her a new toy every time we go to the store. She tosses toys in the air and chases them from room to room. She also loves to have snuggle time and expresses how much she loves us by her loud purring.

We have found that she is quite curious of the outdoors and has tried to sneak out twice now. We had to put a sign up for visitors to be careful. Miley does like to sit in our front window and munch on her catnip plant. She also sunbathes up in our loft under the skylights.

We love Miley so much and thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for bringing her into our lives!
