ROCKY
Aaaaahhhhh, this is the life. I'm right where I belong, at least for now, but it wasn't always so nice and warm and loving and safe. I was brought into the shelter off the very cold streets, where I had been living for at least a month, probably more. They kept me at the shelter for a while, and then I was brought here, to my foster Mom's place. What a relief! I am warm, fed, and most of all loved. Oh, and do I ever return the favors. I am the most outgoing, friendly loving cat you could ever want to meet. I will sit in anyone's lap, and I always purr, even when Mom had to give me one of those awful baths! Really, I kept right on purring. I adore my foster Mom's other cat, even though he gets a little annoyed that I always want to be close. I'm getting used to the sometimes noisy kids that live here, and love the oldest one so much. As for the dog, well, I'm getting used to her. I still hiss when she walks by, but if she's lying down I want to go up and sniff her. I am so happy to be off the streets, but the one thing that would make me even happier is that wonderful home my foster Mom keeps telling me is out there. Please ask about me, and I'll love you forever.

Lots of purrs

Notes from Home
Rocky's been here for almost a week & he's adjusted very well! He seemed at home right away. He has blossomed as a very playful, loving cat. He sometimes gets overstimulated, and likes to attack my hands and feet (especially while I am sleeping!) but knows the word "no" and I've been working with him on that. He is figuring out toys now and what they are for, and loves when I throw balls for him or use the laser pointer, so hopefully he'll stop playing with my hands and feet soon. He eats a LOT, so I am going to start feeding him a little less haha. I've been working with him on not jumping up to eat my food, and he does respond reasonably well if I tell him no & nudge him away, though he is just like a dog: if I turn my back I'm sure he would sneak to get the food. He has been using the litterbox very well. He has bonded with my one roommate, and really dislikes my other roommate, but my other roommate doesn't like cats so they pretty much just stay away from each other. He's such a good cat, and seems very happy here. I'll post pictures soon.

4/30/12 Rocket is doing very well after over a year here! He has been back and forth with me from NJ to VA to Chicago. He's always a pleasure to have around. He had some urinary tract issues in the fall, but he's on a grain-free diet now & seems to be fine. I just transferred schools so I am commuting an hour + every day each way, & I think he is getting a little lonely. I am hopefully moving closer soon but I am also debating getting him a pal to keep him company, and if I do I will definitely look at SCRC!

Aren't we just the cutest pair you've ever seen? My Mom is trying to get more pictures, but says we are the hardest cats to photograph. With me, it's because I just love to be rubbing around her ankles, or playing with a ball, or doing just about anything except sitting still looking at that silly camera. But what I can tell you is that I'm a handsome, sweet, playful boy who will bring more joy into your life than you can possibly imagine. Ask about me and find out just what you've been missing! I must go with my sister, as we really depend on each other for comfort and security. We're both super nice cats, though, and if there's anything that's better than one super sweet Siamese, it's two. Go ahead and ask my foster Mom about us. You'll be happy you did. Purrs.

I opened E-mail to send you a note, and there was an email from the rescue center about the cat's anniversary !!!
Today is already a year...wow ! Yuuki & Sato (he's sitting on my lap while I write this) are doing well, he has his habits and preferences
and has settled in for the most part; she is getting to know both of us (Marie-Christine mostly) but still is a bit shy, although she (both) will greet me when I come home and wants to play. They don't know it yet but their scheduled visit to their favorite (!!!!) Vet is next month, they seem fine at this point, I'll let you know. I'll send some new pictures soon.

Well it's been 6 months and the cats are settling in(more or less) She is still a little apprehensive(if you move quickly she will jump; doesn't greet strangers, etc.)probably are issues in their past that we don't know about. But they are getting more comfortable every day, Yuuki (formerly Missy Sue) prefers to be with Marie-Christine most of the time and Sato (formerly Crackers)follows me around. They have both been to the Vet. now and he pronounced them healthy, and stated that Yuuki is in extremely good condition and would like to adopt her as his personal 'vet cat' (since his wife has allergies and he cannot have cats at home) ! He holds her and kisses her head, and she lets him !!
They both like to play daily (see attached video; quality isn't very good since I hold the camera with one hand and the toy with the other, but you can see that he jumps and chases it. He can jump 3-4 ft. from the floor ! ) She has a favorite small ball that she chases and brings back ! Marie-Christine has taught her to retrieve!!! (not consistently, but at times).

YUUKI
Hey! Look! I'm so excited! My Mom finally got a few more pictures of me, so take a look at them in my photo section. Aren't I a pretty girl? And there's a whole lot more to learn about me, too. I'm a bit shy at first, but am sweet, loving, playful and just all around a nice cat to have. In fact, My brother and I are both going to make great additions to our new lucky family. We must go together, because we really depend on each other for security and comfort. I promise, we're no trouble at all, but I can also say we will give you many years of love and affection, and just plain fun! Just ask about us to learn more. And don't forget to look at my new pictures. Foster Mom promises to try and get more soon, too, but I won't promise to cooperate. Purr.

MAXIMUS
It's Okay! If you didn't win the Mega Million jackpot, no worries, cuz I'm worth a Million and I'm right here, looking for a home! That s#%*@* landlord kicked me out of a very loving home, and so here I am looking for new digs. I'm good with kids, and cats, and promise to be GREAT with you - I follow you everywhere, try to climb on your shoulder, sleep in your bed, and LOVE attention! So no worries, Matey, because I'll fill your pocketbook so full with love and affection, you're not going to need to play the lottery ever again - you'll be a winner!

Name changed to Maximus - Max for short! He is one amazing kitty! So friendly an outgoing! He loves attention/affection and he loves giving it as well! Made a VET appointment for Friday the 27th at 10:40am for a checkup and stool sample! Hope everything goes well! I will update again, with pictures, when he settles in and is out of isolation and in general population haha!!! Thank you everyone for all of your help! Both of my kitties are wonderful!

Hello! The vet called me this morning and told me they could squeeze Max in today at 10:30. So we went and he checked out absolutely perfect! Everybody loved Max so much! The Doctor told me that he is a mix between a Seal Point and a Ragdoll, whatever that is! But supposedly it is a very expensive Purebreed and a good combination! So let's hope the good news keeps on coming!!!

BENJAMIN ALLAN NORTHOVER
HEY LAAAADY!!!!!

Quit with the black flashy box already!! How is a guy suppose to get any sleep?!!

I spent the whole day outside the foster room and spent it sleeping in my foster meowm's bed. I don't have a bed that big, an oversight I must discuss with her. I like spending time with the other cats, even if it's just to snuggle near them. I'm still very nervous of when a human walks around but if you stand still I'll rub against your legs. Baby steps but I keep improving every day.

My needs are simple. A quiet home with little activity, a feline friend who would love to have a cuddly buddy, and to keep me on my special diet of c/d food. That's it.

So do you think you can be patient with my fear of movement until I come to trust you? Do you have a kitty that could really use a friend? Do you like a talkative cat? If so, please let my foster meowm know.

Purrs & Squeaks,
Bennie

Bennie is the sweetest little boy I have ever met. He is quite shy and likes to keep to himself a lot of the time but this is understandable. He came into a house with three other cats so we are still going through the getting acquainted stage. He does come on the bed and night and sleeps with us.

22Mar11 Cali (aka Lerrah) arrived at our home 2 weeks ago and has done very well. She is still a bit nervous but is quite loveable. Cali is starting to warm up to my resident cat, Lily and they seem to be adjusting to each other amicably. She has found her "spot" on the sofa next to me and loves attention. Stay tuned for more updates.

5May11 Cali's personality has blossomed in the past few weeks and it shows! She has finally completed her treatment for an unknown skin issue on her face/chin. She is beautiful now. Her adjustment has been steady and she finally feels at home. Cali's skitishness is all but gone now and is enjoying life. She loves to be near me at all times and is so sweet. My resident cat, Lily is happy to have a playmate and they enjoy chasing each other around the house. Life is good. I will post new pics soon.

26May11 Cali is doing great and I am including pics of her and Lily (aka Lerrah). She refuses to stay more than 5 inches from me at any time. A wonderful sweet girl she really is. I am convinced that she is conspiring with Lily to take over ownership of my house. That's a-ok by me.

24Apr2012 Cali has assimilated well into our household. Though she has battled food allergies for the past year, I think she has turned the corner and is doing much better. Cali is just a sweet and loving cat and just wants to be loved by everyone. Thank you for all you've done to bring us together.

PIXY
A young, healthy and outgoing gal, I like to play and snuggle. I'm a very confident kitty who will settle in right away, make myself right at home, and would appreciate being the Queen Bee of the household. I'm equal parts loving and laughing, so if you like that female smart independent streak, the gal that likes to have a good time but is not too overwhelming or wild and crazy, maybe I can be yours!

Notes from Home
Pixy enjoyed her ride home and did not fuss at all. She has started settling in. She's still getting used to us. She loves to ruce through the house, eats like there's no tomorrow, only wants rubs on her terms, and still seems a little unsure. She does not respond to her name and we have tried many names but nothing seems to turn her on. Rocky and Pixy seem to respect each other but we are still very careful not to let her get too close.

Oct. 22, 2011- We took Pixy to have her Vet Checkup with Dr. Bundy. We did not have trouble getting Pixy into the carrier to go to the Vet. She was scared when she heard dogs in the waiting room. When we got her in the room, they took her temperature which she did not like at all. She had gained 2 1/2 pounds since we got her. She has been eating everything and wanting more. Pixy was curious and checked the room while we waited for the Vet. Everything seemed to be going fine until the Vet came in. Pixy did not want her to examine her. She was biting and scratching and acting like a cat "gone wild". The vet gave her a clean bill of health with what she could examine with a towel wrapped around Pixy. I told her about her biting at me and she said I should really think about it because more than likely this will not change. She said to try the mother cat fermone that Pet Smart sells to see if it will calm her any. We bought it but it hasn't changed her attitude. She does not like to be petted and will bite at me more than Ed. She loves Ed and will do more for him. We are taking one day at a time. I have been trying to reward her with Snacks when she doesn't bite me while petting her. It has been a little better but she will not let me pet her for very long. She will go to Ed and sit with him for a short time. Pixy slept most of the day after the vet visit.

1 month - Pixy is doing fine. She eats well and has no problems with the litter box. Nothing has changed with the biting. She gets on the counter tops in the kitchen and you cannot leave anything to eat on the counter tops. We have tried letting her know biting is not acceptable by saying "NO" everytime she tries to bite you. We have given her treats for not biting and praised her for being good to let us pet her. It seems to be a long battle and we hope it will make some difference soon. She responds to Ed more than me.

04/20/2012-We still call her Pixy. She eats well but we had trouble with her eating anything and everything in site until recently when we got food with oatmeal and Turkey. She seems to stay not as hungry all the time. She still scratches and bites me more than my husband. She does not seem to be getting the message not to bite me. We have tried just about everything we can think of but she doesn't respond to not biting. She's not a loving cat. Any petting is only on her terms. Ed keeps saying that she's still not secure with the surroundings. We are still hoping she will change with time.

THEA
I am a 10 month old Lynx kitten that had a very hard life. I was dumped in a friendly feral colony and someone found me and trapped me! I LOVE to be petted. I am quite timid. When they took me to the vet to be "fixed" the staff thought I would be going back to the colony so they tipped my left ear. (They do that so they would know I was "fixed" if I got trapped again) However the trapper contacted SCRC cause I love to be petted and here I am in rescue.

I met a dog today and I did great. Hissed but no agression so I would be ok with a dog that would leave me alone and not be in my face.

Are you my rescue angel, if you are then click on ask about me

later
Thea

Update: I am slowly coming out of my shell. I roll over when meowmy pets me for her to pet my belly. Still shy but not nearly as much. Given some time she is going to blossom into a special girl

3/14/12 UPDATE: Thea is making progress she just loves to be petted!!! Last night she had the foster room to herself and was out exploring. I put the toys in a pile to see if she would play when nobody was around. She had toys under the bed and a catnip banana. Yeah!!

3/20/12 UPDATE: Thea has not attempted to go back in the playpen for security now that she is alone in the foster room. Appetite has increased. Sleeping on the bed. Playing with the toys. She even let my husband go in last night and pet her. BUT it is on her terms. She may tolerate other cats, however I think she would be happiest as the only cat.

Notes from Home
Thea is coming along absolutely great in her new home!! She has been eating well, using her litterbox and even playing often! She kicks on the purr when we pet her or even just sit next to her! She still scares very easily and has a tendency to look around a lot like she's expecting to see someone or something around her, but it's getting better! And she even started sleeping on the bed with us! We are very surprised to see her be able to relax and adjust so quickly. She knows that she is safe here! I just switched her food today. When I received her, she was eating Fancy Feast Wet and Purina Pro Plan Dry. Today, I picked up Weruva Wet and Taste of the Wild Dry. She absolutely loved it and for the first time, ate a half a can in one sitting AND some of the dry. So out with the old and in with the new! I am very pleased that we did not have to slowly integrate the new food. When playing, she can get a little skitzy and end up hissing or swatting, but its more like a warning then a attack. Thea is a GEM and I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world. Such a precious little kitty and we are spoiling her with all the toys she could ever want! Monday is her first appointment with her new VET at 7pm. Hopefully all goes well!

Vet checkup and stool sample were A-OK! Thea is coming along very nicely. She is playing more and just starting playing on her own as well! She is eating more on her own without the presence of myself or Tiana. Still a little shy/scared and is quick to run away with any sudden movements or loud noises like a door slam or washer/dryer running. What a wonderful kitty! We love her to Death!!!

Thea's DR has set her birthdate at 05/01/11

Just figured it out that Max's birthdate is 05/01/10 - Is this meant to be or what???

Thea has been making strides here at her new home! She is getting much more comfortable. Last night was the first time she jumped up in a window to look outside. She waited till we went to bed and it was quiet, but I acted like I was sleeping and watched her for a while! Shes amazing!

AURORA "RORY"
Princess Diva in training, that's me! I kept a low profile at first because I wanted to check out the positions in the Queendom here, making my plan for overthrowing the monarchy! Now I have a plan in place and I'm stealthily moving forward. Don't let my six pound size fool you, I am one Meezer packed with purrsonality! When we first met Rory two weeks ago she was shy, reserved and quiet. Her personality has really come out over these two weeks, every day becoming a little more vocal, a little more playful, and comfortable. She typically sleeps on the bed with us at night, getting cozy! When not relaxing, she's often chasing toys or doing laps around the apartment. I'll also note a strange absence of bugs lately! She loves exploring every nook and cranny of the apartment. If it is closed or locked, that is simply a challenge for her to try harder! Overall we are incredibly happy to have Rory become part of our family. She's a joy to have around.

SMOKIE
Hi, I'm Smokie - sitting here waiting for someone to notice me and offer me a home. I'm very sweet and a great lap kitty. When I'm not lap sitting, I like to be nearby to supervise. I don't get in your face, but I like to sit in front of the computer monitor so you notice me. I talk a little bit, too. I'm just starting to get a little silly and learning to play with toys and have fun. I get along with other kitties but foster mom is my best friend.

Notes from Home
The first two days, Smokie hid under my mom's bed and was quite shy. I laid by the bed and reached under and petted her for a while and she did purr her appreciation. She warmed up quickly after that and is a true part of the family now. She seems to prefer women to men, as it took her a lot longer to warm up to my husband and my son, but she finally did. Now she rolls on her back and asks for belly rubs; then gets feisty when you do rub her tummy. She stays by my mom most of the time which is perfect; they are great companions. I couldn't be happier with our new family member. Thanks Saimese Rescue!!
