12/08/09 Just a word to let y`all know that Purrsia is doing just fine . Her "pirate"right eye appears to be completely healed. She remains a bundle of energy. She has finally figured out how to get through the cat door from the glass porch which means that Priscilla has to be safely tucked away for her nap time or the running, jumping and chasing would never end. She loves to sit in my lap at the computer and try to catch the cursor as it moves around. She responds well to a no,no command but surely does as she pleases when no one is looking. She has moved into the bedroom now as it is a bit too cold on the porch. She sleeps through the night, so far so good. I think our King bed has reached it`s capacity with 2 grownups, 1grownup cat and one boss kitty. Val Edwards

MILLIE
Hi - my name is Socks and I'll be you know why. I have pretty white toes in the front and beautiful white "socks" on my back legs. No, no, I am not related to the former presidential cat named Socks, but I am just as beautiful as he was handsome. I promise I will grace your home in just the same presidential manner as he did, but I won't get into trouble like the former Socks did. I am a very good girl who will purr for you and headbutt you as often as you will let me. I rode in the car like a true lady and hopped out of my carrier and made myself right at home. I don't know a stranger and will make up with you just as soon as I meet you. You see, I have that Siamese beauty and the Snowshoe easy going personality. What more is there to want in a cat? Remember, winder is coming, so a warm Socks might help you make it through the winter without getting cold. Love, headbutts, purrs and licks, Socks
Notes from Home
Millie is doing great! She has really made this her own home. She has been nothing but a purrfect pet. She has claimed her own bed and chair. She loves the Christmas tree and is very nosey when we bring in bags of gifts. She's peeking for her own presents, I am sure. Life is good. and no complaints.

We will have a blessed and happy Christmas with our newest edition, Millie.

Happy Holidays to all of you.
Thanks- Scott and Anne

GRACIE
Here's meeeee, Janie, in the morning sunshine! Me and my sisters are having soooo much fun growing and playing and eating and playing and... whew, I'm out of breath ... and growing and playing and eating and playing. As you can tell by some of my photos, I'm the thoughtful one of the bunch.

BODHI
You won't find anything that you won't like about me. I am HANDSOME, LOVING AND SOCIABLE. So what's not to love - so ask about me.
Notes from Home
Bodhi is the most amazing little guy! He snuck out of his isolation room after 2 days, and fit right in. He was overly excited to see other kittens here! All 3 are best of buddies. What a wonderful little man!

Sasha has made herself at home on Paw Paw Ridge. She's all over the house now, having a good time. She loves to sit in the window and watch the bird feeder, her entertainment center, and dash through the house from room to room on a secret mission. She seems to know that she's at home now.

BOOTS
HELLO - HELLO - HELLO!!!

Are YOU my new Mom or Dad?

Just wondering why you're not asking about me. I don't want to grow up in foster care.

But, I have lots of friends here! Everybody likes me (as long as I'm not playing "attack cat"). My best buddy is the seal point in the other pictures - but I get along fine with all the kitties here and the doggy doesn't bother me at all.

I'm a good eater and use my box like a pro.

And I'm really cute, if I do say so myself!

Schedule: Play, nap, eat. Repeat.

How about clicking that Ask About Me button and taking me home?

Notes from Home
I have kept Karen and Dona updated daily in the beginning and now weekly about the progress with Boots. He has really come out of his shell. He now eats and uses the same liter box as Dutch. They started napping downstairs instead of under the bed. Finally tonight, what I have been so waiting for, was seeing the two together balled up sleeping. Boots is a sweet, shy, yet loving cat. He is very interested in Schatzi ( our german shepard). They want to play together so badly but are still in the beginning stages. I suspect I will be able to capture video and pictures of them running around the house by the new year. Boots still skeptical of the kids, has become more eager to let them touch him. Boots also has come and slept with me in the middle of night. He is meowing more and more too! Ahh the gentle sounds of a siamese meow and purr! We love it! Overall, Boots is doing great. We are happy to have him part of our family.

SADE' (SHA-DAY)
Greetings from Sade' (Sha Day).
I am glad to make your acquaintence. I'm sure once you meet me you'll be glad too!
Meowmy said that I'm a perfect example of what a nice Siamese female should be. I don't know about that, but I to like to talk a little to her, am good with my litter box, and now that I'm over that awful shelter cold, all I have to do is heal from my "ecucation". I can't wait to get out of this playpen and meet all the other kitties here. I hope they'll like me. I'll have to tell Meowmy to let you know how the first meeting goes, as soon as I'm healed enough to get out.
So for now, I'll just rest and heal and let you all know how it goes.

CHESSIE
Hi! I'm Chessie and I just got sprung from the Big House! I'm still a little shy with fostermom, but she seems ok, so I let her pet me and stuff. Right now I'm missing other kitties, but fostermom couldn't spring them from the pokey, so I'm all alone. I hope she brings somebody home to play with me soon because I'm a little lonely. HEY...maybe you have a kitty that needs a playmate?! I mean, I'll let YOU pet me and stuff too, but I really really really want somebody to chase toys and lay in the catnip with.

P.S. Foster mom can't answer emails until 9-24, so please check back with me that morning when I'll be back to 'adopt me' status.
Notes from Home
28 November 2009--Chessie is doing very well. She has fit in with the family perfect. She passed her first vet check since being adopted and is gaining weight fine. She is very playful, she knows her name, and loves her treats. She gets along very well with Ming, her 4 year old Seal point house brother and they play all day. She is on her way to becoming just as spoiled as the other two. Thanks for letting her become a part of our family...................Cheryl

GUINEVERE
I'm a pretty and petite girl, but the shyest of my siblings. I do like to play, and that brings me around to see people and begin to gain confidence. I'm getting better all of the time, but if you have a really busy/loud household, I'm not the kitten for you. I need lots of love and attention. I think laps will be great in a few more days.

Things are going great--better than I ever hoped! Guinevere and Lancelot have become the best of friends--she is two months older than he and she grooms him and they play and wrestle all day long. Guinevere didn't really know what to think at first because Lancelot would hide and pounce on her, wanting to play. Now she pounces on him as well (and he loves every minute of it).

CHARLIE CHAPLIN (CHAP)
I LOVE lapsitting. I LOVE to follow you everywhere and talk to you. I LOVE to watch what you're doing and participate if you'll let me. I LOVE to talk but will listen to you too when you have something to say. I'm a great ambassador in your home because I'll greet everyone, show them in and give them a tour, then plop them down on the couch so I can hop up on their lap and make them feel at home. I'm in great health and a very good boy, or so I'm told! I do prefer people to cats but that's because I'm more like a person than just any cat....
Notes from Home
One year update on Charlie (VA5970): First the important stuff (especially for a geezer) . Charlie passed his one year vet examination with flying colors. No observed or anticipated heath issues as he enters his 12th (estimated) year. He gained a little more weight in the months immediately after arriving, and has been stable at about 14 Lbs. for six months plus. Eating and drinking are regular although he does like to eat on schedule and he certainly lets us know if we are running late. Litterbox habits, excepting one "teaching moment" have been perfect. General behavior is great, and he runs the race route several times each week. In my humble opinion, he could be a poster cat for the benefits of adopting geezers.
Now for some fun notes: Taken over, as opposed to getting settled in, would be a more apt description. He is certainly a lap cat, although he seems to like it better when I am reclined so he can lay on my chest and observe me eyeball to eyeball. He also likes to crawl under the covers when I am napping and will often lay next to me with his head sticking out. He avoided the millie bed we brought home with him for several months, but has since decided it is a good place for snoozing. He loves laying in my office chair, between me and the back of the chair or wrapped around it halfway into my lap. When he is ready for some attention, he will stand up with one paw on my shoulder while tapping on the back of my head with the other (I am trying to catch that routine on video). When I have to move him so I can work, he will often run around me and jump back in the chair, and then when I reach for him again he will play dead by rolling over on his back and going completely limp. He is proving to be quite the character. Last but not least for fun news, the teaching moment I mentioned earlier. About a month after arriving my wife and I were running late one day. She scooped his box (under his careful watch of course) but accidently put the cover on backwards and he couldn't get in. We returned a few hours later and he cited the riot act while pacing between us and the box. I followed him to the box and he was quite relieved when I fixed the cover. We checked all the most likely places but found nothing and decided that he must have waited for us to come back. Judging by his haste to get in after I fixed the cover I think he was waiting, but later that day we discovered a prime example of just how intelligent our wonderful meezers are. He left her a reminder to check the box cover in the form of a small wet spot. He got up on our bed, worked his way under the quilt and top sheet, and he put that spot dead center on her side of the bed. Since the bed was made he had to put a fair amount of effort into getting under the covers and reaching that particular spot, so there can be little doubt that was his way of sending a friendly message. Needless to say, we are careful to check that cover.
My wife is a late convert to the joys of being adopted by a Siamese while I have been a pet bean to several over the years. Charlie is our second adoption from SCRC and we are looking forward to giving him a safe and healthy home as he moves from semi to full retirement. He may not have the energy level of a young cat but he does have a well developed and very lovable purrsonality, so I would encourage everyone to consider a geezer if their situation allows. Finally, an update would simply not be complete without mentioning how much we appreciate the dedication of the Zwemke's, Kathy H., and all the volunteers that made this adoption possible and that make SCRC such a fantastic organization.
