MILLIE
This girl is all Tortitude! She loves attention and chatting with you and playing "oops I dropped my toys off the top of the cat tree so you can pick them up 20 times or I'll cry like a baby" with you. She is also a cat treat fiend--you can hide them anywhere and she WILL find them!

You have probably never seen anything more adorable than this cat's waddle--she has the back legs of a French bulldog, with that side-to-side wiggle when she trots down the hall. Just try not to laugh too hard, because she really wants you to think she's a princess (although it doesn't help that she answers to the nickname of Sprinkles--a reference to her coloring).

Koto would be a fantastic apartment buddy, as she has zero interest in going outside, and is just fine with sitting on a window perch all day taking in the sights while waiting for her person to come home and hang out with her. She likes a lap to watch TV on, and someone to tell her about their day while rubbing her ears and reassuring her she's never going to be a lost stray again.

PS: A fish tank would be a big plus....

We love our Millie. She makes us laugh everyday! We are so thankful to have her in our lives. We have noticed that she might be part kangaroo by the way she literally bounces off the walls and jumps to turn around to go the opposite way. She's a real joy! Thanks for your part in bringing us together!

AMICUS AKA MURPHY
Hello,

I'm doing pretty good here. Meals come on schedule, toys are provided and the foster mom is nice to me. I am the shyest in the trio but I am figuring things out. Yes...I use my litterbox. I am a smart little guy. I will need someone that can spend time with me and a sister would be lovely too.

Love,
Amicus

Notes from Home
Murphy is doing great and adjusting well into our family. He is super well behaved...our only behavioral issue is teaching him not to jump onto the kitchen counters....we'll get there! Otherwise, he's great with the litter box and knows to use the posts to scratch. He loves all sorts of toys...but the plastic springs, fishing pole toys and playing tag with his older sister Maple are probably his favorites!

He continues to have soft stool upon his arrival to purr-adise. He no longer has diarrhea though and his stool sample came back negative so the vet recommended closely monitoring him and checking with her periodically over the phone for now since he continues to eat well and have perfect litter box etiquette. Might just need some more time to get used to his surroundings and keep growing.

Overall, he's super loveable and enjoys sleeping with mom and dad at the foot of the bed. He's like our little shadow in the mornings and doesn't leave our sides until we have gone off to work. Murphy and Maple for the most part get along well...still a few hisses and smacks every now and then but when she initiates the play he couldn't be more excited! We are super lucky and grateful that we got to add little Murphy to our family!

2/14/2017 Update: Murphy continues to do well! He is the sweetest boy and everyone that meets him falls in love...even non-cat lovers like my mom. He gets along with his older sister, Maple, who gives him baths and kisses (on her own terms though...haha). He still loves to jump and play. He ALMOST has the game fetch figured out. He also still likes to jump on counters which we are still working on. It's hard to stay mad at such a cute face. We also bought him an activity board to keep him stimulated...we put his morning crunchies in there to figure out how to get all his food out when we leave for work. Maple likes this time because it gives her peace from his ball of energy personality. He's such a character and we love having him around. I think he's super happy with us here in Virginia. Check out the updated photos.

SAVANNA
So with a bit of coaxing, I'll come out and purr and even lap-sit for a bit, but the littlest noise will send my back to my safe place. I am a sweet and lovable girl who will need someone to give me time to adjust to any new situation. A feline buddy would be nice to have someone to play with as long as they are not bullies.

Notes from Home
Today is Valentine’s Day 2017 and Savanna has been with me for nearly two months. She and Eddison – my older male Siamese – have really bonded. At first he was a bit wary of this young frisky kitten, but she won him over in a hurry. He snuggles with her, plays with her, and truly seems to enjoy her companionship. I have so many great pictures of them snuggling together and I post them all the time on Facebook – I am sure my friends are getting tired of seeing them. I’ve tried to upload some here – but I’m not a technically savvy as I could be…

Savanna is very loving with me too – snuggling and purring and letting me hold her. (Eddison flat out refuses to be picked up, so it’s a real treat to have a kitty to cuddle.) However, she does NOT like visitors. Not one smidgen. If I have company, she hides.

At the advice of Nancy – Savanna’s foster – I waited a month to take her to the vet. At Savanna’s first vet visit she let me, the vet tech and Dr. Handley hold her and admire her so I was under the impression that she was cured. Nope. If someone stops by, she hides. As soon as they leave, she comes out for a cuddle and goes on about her business. I guess she is a one person cat.

Speaking of the vet visit – she was given a clean bill of health!

I am so glad that Savanna came into my life and I thank all of the volunteers who made it possible.

PS: I FIGURED OUT THE PICTURE UPLOAD! NEW PHOTOS HAVE BEEN ADDED. :)

Cookie adopted me on day one. She took over my bed, made herself at home on the new cat tower and demanded I pet her. The next morning I woke to her sleeping on my back and demanding breakfast. It seems like much longer that two weeks since she has been here. Thank you so much for letting her adopt me. And thank-you to all of the volunteers that made it possible.
Scratches and treats for everyone,

SAWYER
Hey adopters - Sawyer here!

Can you believe that I got lost outside for over a month and that my owners never even looked for me??? Me either!

Can you believe this happened during the winter, when it was soooo cold outside??? Me either!

And can you believe (and this is the worst part) that it happened during FOOTBALL SEASON???? Me either!!!

Thank goodness foster mom got me inside and warm - it was getting really cold out there.

And thank goodness I got inside in time for the playoffs! Can you imagine missing the Playoffs???

As you can see, I am warm and comfy now and all ready to watch the Super Bowl - how about you?

Do you need a couch companion to cheer with you? I am almost ready to go home and can be sitting next to you on your couch in time for the game:)

But you better hurry up and ask about me soon!

Are You Ready??? Here We Go......

Sawyer became a Jersey Boy on February 12. He is now known as Sepp (german diminitive for Joseph). There are not enough adjectives to describe this wonderful boy. He is a sweet and loving lap cat, who tries so hard to please his meezer sister Nina, dispite her occasional HISS. I would have never imagined how fast he would assimilate into our household. It's like he was always here. He loves everyone who comes in the front door. He will even say hello to the UPS man:) A better politician then most. He lets me know where he is at all times. A very vocal boy! At the present he is on my lap in the computer room as I type. Your probably saying to yourself, is he perfect? No! But almost:) Sepp likes to beg when we sit down to dinner. So now Sepp has his dinner when we sit down to eat. Oh! he must have been a circus acrobat in his former life. Or maybe, a mountain climber! His visit to the Vet went very well, and everyone there loves him. Sepp is a healthy Meezer!

I want to thank Christine for her great foster care. Her care and love were paramount in the way Sepp has adjusted. Thank you so much!

EVA
I am a gentle soul who purrs when petted and brushed. My world has been turned upside down, and I am working on being ready for the next phase. I am a bit confused about what happened to me - one day I am in my home, the next day I am in a strange place - change is scary! Patience, love and understanding are going to be key to helping me adjust to a new life.

With foster Mom's help, I am starting to regroup. With patience, I will be the meezer of your dreams.

Eva is doing very well! She has a set routine and has no problem letting me know when she is in need of attention or food. We have our routines in the AM and PM and loves spending time with me; especially laying on me. I am starting to really realize how strong and active she is as well. She loves running around my apartment and has really come into her own. We are still working on getting used to other people other than myself and not being spooked by my neighbors, but otherwise things are great!!

July 12, 2014
Eva has really found herself now. She lets me know when she wants to play and has no problem climbing on me to let me know. She kneads all the time and drools when she really happy. I am so pleased with the progress she has made and I am looking forward to having my friends and family enjoy her as I do. She still is very shy to new people. However, she is courageous when a friend/family member has been over for a length of time and will make an appearance but runs away quickly when there are any subtle movements.

February, 2017
Eva and I have settled into our home in Virginia. She loves sitting in the bay window, basking in the sun. She loves going on road trips in CT with me to visit my parents and enjoys the summers there! She is still active as ever but does enjoy a quiet day with me as well.

TULIP
Hi! I'm Tulip. Meom says I'm as beautiful as a spring tulip too!
I was really scared before coming here to my foster meom. I didn't know whether I would ever have a safe, comfy home ever again. But my Tia kept me company as we wander for a day. Some nice neighbor brought us back inside.
Then we went to a shelter! Whoa! I didn't like it at all. Then we went to the vet! I didn't like that either. Then our new foster meom came to get us out of there. So it took me a little while to settle in here but everything is wonderful now.
She feeds me and talks to me sweetly! Now I feel better, safer.
Maybe you can be my furever person though. Meom says I will be loved by a very devoted peoples next and never be left to fend for myself again.

Notes from Home
It took a few days for Tulip to warm up to me. She was mad at me for taking her away from her foster mommy. She is now my buddy and will snuggle with me.
Tulip has meet her brothers, Rockport and Lionel. She is ignoring them but everything is fine. Rockport really loves her and likes to be with her. They kind of hang out together. Lionel ignores her and stays away from her for now. I am so glad I got to adopt Tulip. I love her. I want to thank everyone who helped to make this happen!
Sept.15th,2016
Tulip is such a joy. She has taken over the roll as Lady of the House, she did have big paws to fill! Rockport and her are getting use to each other. They always eat together and sometimes even sleep on my bed together. Occasional growling and hissing, but less and less. Lionel and Tulip totally ignore each other. Lionel stays on the first floor and Tulip likes to stay on the second floor where her domain is. She loves to cuddle and be kissed. Tulip likes to knead on my neck but it does not fell too good. I have to bear with it so I don't hurt her feelings. I love her so much!
2/11/17 I am so lucky I was the one who got to adopt Tulip. She is such a character. She rules the boys and lets them know when she is not satisfied with them. She met Precious, my husband's 22 year old female Blue Point. They like each other. I had Tulip to the vets for blood work 2 months ago and everything came back normal. She is still very active, uses the cat tree, and loves her cat nip bags. She still kneads on my neck, still does not feel too good..but I am getting use to it. Her deep meezer meow is awesome. We love her! Thank you all...Apryl & Chris

I'm blossoming, just like an early spring flower! I started out shy but with some great work and still young, I'm ready with just a little work to become a great pal. Mazzie's name has been changed ro Cersei, and Cersei is doing very well. We took her to the vets last week because she had the sniffles. She's fine now. She's still very timid, but when you dangle a shoelace, she comes running. She has a million toys, and the shoelace is her favorite toy. She stays mostly in Nicholas's room, but when I go upstairs I open his door and she comes out to explore. She's very curious. We both love to sit and hold and pet her. Although she hides a lot under Nicholas'Sparks bed, she doesn't fight us when we get her out. I'll try to send a picture, but it's a little grainy, and I'm not great with this tablet. That's all for now and thanks again for everyone's help. - Katie and Nicholas Zaleski Cersei continues to open up. When she runs from me, sometimes she stops and look at me like she wants me to chase her. I don't know if cats do that, but that's what it seems like. When she wants to play, and you're trying to pet her, the claws come out. She's not bad at clawing at all. And the shoelace is still her favorite toy.

SEBASTIAN
Hey, Jinx is the name and here is my story. Well let me tell you that the last few months have not been so good. Somehow I ended up being unwanted and finding myself a stray on the streets. A very nice person saw me and my next stop was an animal shelter with lots of other cats. As you can imagine, that was a bit of a shock too. Then, luckily for me, along came Siamese Rescue and they came to collect me from the shelter and placed me in a foster home. Well, then my luck started to turn around. And despite being given a yukky bath and having my nails trimmed, it really was not so bad. However in the meantime, I came down with a kitty cold and bingo some of the hairs on my lovely dark seal mask on my face started to turn white. Well despite inspecting it every day, it is still there. But I have heard it will turn back to my normal beautiful coloring after a few months. So I am hoping that my luck will change now, especially as you are reading this and soon I will find myself in a loving home, with no more animal shelters in sight. I really am a well behaved boy. Loving, laid back and calm. I love to snuggle with my family at night. Extremely good litter box habits. What more can you ask for in a cat. Looking forward to meeting you soon. Jinx
Notes from Home
It’s so hard to believe that Sebastian, aka Sir Sebastian, aka His Highness, has only been here 5 and ½ weeks, he settled in so quickly. Within an hour of opening his cage he was eating, drinking, and moving litter in his box. Over the time we’ve been together we’ve learned a lot about each other. I think he still has moments where he’s not sure he’s in his fur-ever home, especially when friends he’s meeting for the first time come to visit. I think he’s afraid he’ll be going home with them, but I keep telling him he’s stuck with me forever.

Before he and I met, his foster meowmy, Jane, warned me that he is a Velcro kitty who becomes quite attached to his human. Oh, boy, is he ever Velcro. I almost never have to wonder where in the house he is, as he’s laying right by my side, even in the bathroom. One of his favorite activities is to sit next to me on the kitchen counter and intently watch me prepping ingredients for whatever I’m cooking. I’m pretty sure he’s judging me on my technique. In his favor, though, he does not attempt to eat anything on the counter. He doesn’t seem to like people food at all. He’s just curious about what I’m doing.
He LOVES his toys. Especially his little krinkle balls and mousies, which he takes great pleasure in losing under furniture, and his turbo ball. Shhhh. Don’t tell him, but a Cat Dancer toy is on order. Because our friend Konnee found a toy hidden under the stove, he now thinks there is magic toy portal underneath there, and spends a lot of time lying next to the appliance waiting for more toys to appear. We also spend time almost every day playing with bubbles. Jumping up and popping them with his paws is a favorite sport. He is also a fetcher. He will bring krinkle balls to me so I can throw them for him to retrieve.

Sebastian has also taken over my bed. He insisted on sleeping with me his very first night at home. He lulled me into compliance with purrs and biscuit making. Now he thinks nothing of stretching out on his back right in the middle of the bed, leaving me to somehow curl myself around him to find space for myself. It’s hard to be mad at him for this though, when he wakes me up in the morning with purrs and cuddles. It’s also hard to get angry with a kitty who sleeps with his tongue hanging out.

There is only one bad habit my boy has, and that’s biting. He rarely bites hard, and he seems to use it as a form of communication, usually to say, “I don’t want to be pet right now, I want to play with you.” However, there are times when the bites seem to be for no good reason other than that he’s in a mood. I’m trying the “say ‘OUCH’ very loudly, and then ignore him” technique. I’m having some success with that. He definitely looks contrite when he realizes that he hurt me. I’m pretty sure he’s had a bit of abuse in his past, so I make a concerted effort to be very patient and gentle with him. He’s coming around. With the huge strides he’s made in just under six weeks, I can only imagine what he’s going to be like in six months.

****

Well, six months has come and gone...

His Royal Highness, Sebastian, has finally deemed the house his and is now allowing me to live here, and buy his food and treats and toys and litter, and pay the bills. It took about four months, but he is now very clear with everyone he meets that I am his human. Many mornings we wake up with our arms around each other, and there are many nights when my sleep is interrupted by a purring, drooling, ball of fluff rolling around my head, usually though I just wake up with him perched somewhere on my body.

However, even though my boy had settled into his furever home, there was something missing. Sebastian seemed a bit lonely for feline companionship. So when we’d been together about five months, the opportunity to adopt him a pair of kitten sisters arose and we jumped on it. It took about six days for him to accept that the littles, as we call them, would be a permanent part of his home. He now loves having Harper and Maxine in his life. He grooms them, and wrestles with them, and cuddles with them, and is very easy going when they push him out of the way to eat his food, or they steal his very favorite pompom balls. I’m not sure that the girls could have asked for a better big brother.

My boy still gets a bit bitey from time to time. Often when I’m petting him, and fall asleep on the job, I’m awakened by a nip. I also get nips, on my feet, when I’m not getting breakfast together in a timely enough manner. If the bites are because he doesn’t want to be pet, he will give me a warning snap first, or he’ll just gently wrap his jaw around my wrist to tell me, “no.” Usually with a few calm words he realizes the error of his ways and we can resume what we were doing, or he will move away from me. Overall, though, his bites are just one form of communication he uses. He is much more vocal now than when he first arrived, and in addition to having the most handsome face, he also has one of the most expressive faces I’ve ever seen on a kitty. It is rare that I can’t figure out what he’s thinking by just looking at that face.

Overall, Sebastian has been the best addition to my home. I give thanks every day to Siamese Cat Rescue for bringing us together.
