Just a quick little note on our (just a few days over) 3 month anniversary for Simon and Zoey ....
We absolutely love them! They are the perfect little kitties

We took them to the Vet in December for their initial check-up and they were the talk of the office! Everyone commented on how adorable they are - and we could not agree more! They had great check-ups and are all set!

Since December, they have had the whole house opened up to them - and are loving it! They have toy baskets and "snuggle/sleeping" areas on every floor.

Their personalities are fantastic!

They love to EAT, play and EAT! If you are around the kitchen at any time close to breakfast and dinner, Simon will be the first to remind you that is is almost time to eat .... if you take too long getting things ready, Zoey will help him remind you! Never mind the dry food they have at anytime - it is the yummy wet food that they want =) They are also excellent with their litter box. We did have some issues in the beginning as they loved to play in there and kick the litter out of the box .... so for Christmas, Santa brought them a new litter box shaped like an igloo. Now, no more problem =)

Zoey is still our little night time snuggle bug. She will hop in bed and snuggle into "her spot" under the blankets, put her head on the pillow and start her purring! i think the only time she stops purring is if she is actually sleeping. She also likes to check to see if you are sleeping - by putting her wet nose in your face =) She has also added work time snuggling to her schedule ... any time Randy and i are at our desks - if she is in want of some cuddling - she will start purring at your feet - which is your signal to pick her up and give her some love. It is wonderful!

Simon is our "rough and tumble" kitty ... he loves to play and jump! In the morning as we make our way downstairs for breakfast, he runs so fast down the stairs and jumps from the second step! He is so athletic! He is also a little snuggle bug - don't let that rough and tumble exterior fool you! He loves get stretched out on the floor or bed or couch, etc and have you pet him ... he does little air biscuits with his front paws. He also has "his" spot on a chair - all st up with his blankets, which he loves to snuggle down into. His current passion is playing in a box we have set-up for him near our plants ... he looks like he is in a boat floating down the nile - it is too funny!

We will get some good pictures and post them soon!
thank you for our precious little kittens!

11/14/12 Update:
Hello Everyone at the Siamese Rescue! And thank you for the lovely anniversary wishes!
Things could not be better here! Simon and Zoey are absolutely AWESOME!

They have developed into wonderful kitties that love to play, snuggle and eat!

Zoey (aka Squeaks, Squish and Legs) is a beautiful little girl. We call her our little super model, because when she stretches out on the floor and poses she is about 8 feet tall with her sleek body and long legs =) She has her favorite feather toy she carries with her everywhere – you can hear her coming as she drags the toy behind her. Zoey is also very chatty and loves to tell you all about what is going on. We have little conversations with her – we are not really sure what we are saying, but she seems to think it is ok =) Zoey also loves to give kisses by sticking her little nose in your face – it is pretty adorable & she LOVES getting kisses back!

Simon (aka Buster, SimonBear and Pink Nose) is our athlete. He loves to run, jump and play in a vase – he will go in there sometimes to get some peace. Sometimes when he is sleeping in his kitty bed, Zoey will come over and sit on him - so every now and then – when he needs some Simon time – he goes a takes a nap in the vase, so we put a little kitty blanket in there for him. He loves to be snuggled in blankets and have his belly rubbed – it is the cutest thing. And he is sooo soft – his fur is like spun silk. ... and has the cutest little pink nose
Simon and Zoey went for their yearly exam October 20. Dr Fisher examined them both and said they were poster-kitties for good health – inside and out!

We could not be happier with our Simon and Zoey – and we think they feel the same!

Hope all is well!!!

Deb & Randy

KIKI
I'm a willowy young lady - ok, more than that, I'm just plain skinny according to foster mom. She is working hard on fattening me up and making me feel better. I have a cold and just don't feel 100% although I feel one million billion times better than I did in the shelter! Things are looking up!

Don't you want to start the New Year off with a new buddy? One that will love you? One with great litter box habits? One that purrs so loudly her whole body vibrates?

Update 2/4/2013 - Well we are here in Italy and I am "Purrrrrrfecto".. I must admit that I am liking it here, what is not to like? Lots of Formagi, they love cats and plenty of pampering to be had. We live in this lovely Italian home nestled in the mountains near Vicenza which is surrounded by vineyards. There are a couple of Romeo's next door but Meowmy tells them to beat it! I hear the Church bell ring all the time and the dogs yowl in succession.. What a life I tell you! Meowmy & Daddy have found that I so love my scratches that I curl up into a shrimp ball and flop around log a fish just pulled out of water.. Whenever I see my favorite brush I am done.. I love the culture here as they have Siesta during the day and it fits rather nicely into my cat nap timetable. Wish you were all here :-D

10/9/2012 - We are all going to Italy my meowmy said, not sure I can stomach pasta, maybe if there is some anchovies in there and gelato.. mmmmmm. Well a lot has happened as we have another kitty in our family who is another rescue.. 1st there is the Himalayan/Siamese Diva who thinks she loves me and now a real Ragdoll/Himalayan Kitty who I laugh at all day when she falls from furniture.. I don't know why her previous adopters de-clawed her but I think she is a keeper and keeps me sane against that other DIVA that won't leave me alone. I love to take time out and sleep on my sofa with my furrrrrrry blanket and can't wait for my little people to get home from school. Especially the little girl who brushes me all the time.. Sometimes she over brushes me so I have to smack her into line. I am training her well :-) I sure do have them all figured out..Purrrrrrrr.. And then there is meowmy who just loves it when she goes to sleep and I sleep next to her legs all night long bahaaaaaaa

Update: 2/4/2011 - Well it is now 3 glorious action packed years let me tell you.. We have moved to North Carolina and I must say am liking the squirrels that I am seeing and all of the pine cones.. We have so many windows now that are just exhausting... I just love wood floors as my meowmy laughs when I do my Tom Cruise rendition as I slide across the super clean floors at the early hours of the morning to play with my fat & fluffy sister... hehehehe ...

A happy cat is a happy life!!!

KAYLA
HAVE LAPCAT WILL TRAVEL

SYHF (single young healthy female) seeking a permanent position as a professional lapcat.

Salary requirements include plenty of lap time and attention, soft bed to sleep on (preferably yours), good food, lots of toys and regular brushing once my fur grows back out.

Speaking of fur, am I a super easy-going lynx point or am I a tortie point with a bit of spice ?' My face says lynx but everything else says tortie (although I haven't shown any signs of tortitude yet) and until my fur grows back in, it's a toss-up. Are you wondering what happened to my fur ? Well my former owner left my feline companions and me in an apartment when they moved and by the time we were found we were starving, emaciated and covered with fleas. The fleas caused me to scratch, rub and chew most of my fur off. My fur is beginning to grow back in but not enough to tell what my actual points are yet (check out my pictures). Foster Meowm thinks I'm going to be what she calls a 'fluffinator' and have super soft and silky longer fur and a nice plumy tail but it's going to take some time.

Foster Meowm says I'm going to be a real beauty and that I'm just a SUPER NICE CAT !!

Kayla is a simply wonderfull kitty ! Thank you to all who helped make her adoption possible. She runs to greet people at the door, and loves everyone. While she is niot as much of a lap sitter as when she arrived (she knows she has her very own person now) she loves to be where the people are and usually lays next to mom anytime she sits still and usually ends up on her back for a lovely belly rub. She is exceedingly gentle! She has finally checked out her Millie bed and loves it! She doesn't play with toys much, though I think she must have at least one of everything. We are thinking she may prefer a live "toy" and now that mom's hip surgery is behind her, she may be looking to add to the family in a furry way. Kayla's fur seems to be slowly growing back in and I think she's just going to stay a tortie-lynx. Pretty much a mix of both! Her tail is still pretty sparse, poor thing. So, Mom is just thrilled with her - all her friends who visit want to know where she ever found such a wonderful cat! I will be posting some pix soon, been catching up on too many other things.

ANDERSON
(NEW VIDEO 1/23/11)

Need a cleaning lady, er gent I mean? I'm a super duper licker, and I love to clean you, er kiss you all over. I'm a very waddly enjoyable friendly outgoing cat, who chats, plays, and yes, adores my kibbles. For this reason I do need portion control feeding of a light kibble, but I don't care much what kind it is. I'm excellent in the box, not an active scratcher, and just a super ambassador type cat who will meet and greet anyone who comes along, as well as making sure they are spiffy clean! I'm fine with other cats, male and female, provided they're nice with me, I just don't have it in me to be a bully, I'm a lover through and through! And if you have kids that need a bath, I can be of great help!

Notes from Home
Mr. Anderson hid for the first two days and then came out to say hello and never went back.
At first we were worried about him because he was very overweight and his breathing was kind of labored. But you would be happy to know he lost a pound! He now runs, jumps gracefully, and LOVES playing with drinking straws. He will pounce on them for a good while. He is very intelligent, if you point to a general direction, he will obey and go.
He is very gentle even during play. He is great with kids. Mr. Anderson is very affectionate and loves to cuddle too.
We think he is a sweet, smart, lovable, kitteh.

JACKSON
Cuddling, lap sitting, and interested in you and other cats. Dogs are ok, too!

My rough life on the street is behind me now, and I couldn't be happier indoors! I love attention and always want to be near by you! You have the best of both worlds in me, folks! I'm not as high strung and pouncy as a kitten, but young enough to still be occasionally playful and in excellent health now! Been waiting on my forever home for a while now, won't you take a chance and let me show you what a wonderful companion I can be!

Notes from Home
The cat FKA Elton arrived home today with the help of many generous volunteers from Meezer Express that carried him from Tennessee to Virginia for us to pick him up!

He has been renamed as "Jackson" and he immediately checked out the lay of the land in the bedroom, ate some, and demanded some chin scratches. We'll see if he's feeling brave enough to sleep with me tonight! He's a friendly, sweet boy and just the most beautiful cat. I'll update as he gets settled in!

His new brother, Finn knows that something is up since he can't get into the bedroom. Can't wait for these 10-14 days to pass so they can hang out. Hope they get along!

A little over two weeks and Jackson is settling in nicely. I've been able to integrate the two boys. Finn sometimes plays a little rough which Jackson doesn't like, but he's standing up for himself as needed so I think we're ok :) Jackson took to my fancy Litter Robot very quickly. So far no incidents other than he tends to eat a little too fast and sometimes he throws up afterwards. He's starting to recognize me as his person and will now come over when I'm sitting on the couch and ask for pets. He's a sweet, easy going boy. He loves to be brushed - I tried it today for the first time and he rolled right onto his back. He may have been brought into the shelter as a stray but somebody must have loved this boy because he's very docile, sweet, gentle, and affectionate.

Jackson continues to be AWESOME. It turns out he knows how to give hugs - he comes right up on your chest and puts his paws on either side of your neck. I definitely think someone loved this kitty and then he got lost or maybe abandoned, but he's just wonderful. He loves to be brushed. His one issue is that he seems to have a sensitive stomach. After a bunch of vetting and some hypoallergenic food I've concluded that he just eats too fast. Maybe it's from being hungry when he was a stray, but if he eats really fast, he throws up. I'm now working on transitioning him to wet food and I'm adding some water to his dry so it's mushier and hopefully easier on his stomach when he gobbles. That has helped a lot.

He is getting along with his little brother very well. They play and they snuggle and seem to be very happy with one another. He's not a needy boy but he likes attention and will surprise me by getting into my lap sometimes while I'm working. I can't say enough good things about this boy!

Still so happy with Jackson, feeling VERY lucky indeed to have found him and become his meowmy !! He's sweet and affectionate, but not needy and gets along with everyone. His throwing up after eating has lessened over time. I think it's probably just left over from days of being hungry and maybe he'll stop eating too fast over time.

TIKI
I am at the new place with my brother and buddy Charlie, and you can see him under VA7766. I like this new place - lots of new toys and the food - is GREAT. I do love to eat and play. My brother has this long thing called a tail but I don't have one of those. I love to play with Charlie's tail, he moves it and I jump at it. That's really fun. My new Meowmy says that I am beautiful whatever that means. I know that we will get along great - so ask about me.

Love,
Joey

Hello, Tiki is such a blessing. We all love him so much. He loves the abundance of attention he gets and is such a pleasure. He LOVES to eat and is such a big boy now. He has integrated well with our older cat and the older one loves to lick Tiki's head and he just lays there loving every minute of it. We all think he's half bunny, with that stub tail and the way he hops when he runs. It's so funny!

Tiki is simply the best! He is the king of the castle. We recently adopted a little girl from your organization and they play nicely together. He is the most beautiful cat I've ever seen!

SESAME
Brush me! Pet me! Love me! Then brush me some more. Never has there been a cat who loves to be brushed like I do. I live for it - and I have plush, bunny soft fur that you will enjoy brushing as much as I enjoy being brushed.

And why am I on these pages? I was returned to rescue due to some health issues, which are very minor, thank goodness! I've had tons of bloodwork done, and other than a little problem I am a healthy cat. My problem? It's embarrassing for a lady to talk about, but I have a problem with - constipation. But I do well on an inexpensive medication I take every couple of days, and need an all-canned diet, which I eagerly eat. I have had lots of bloodwork done, and I'm perfectly healthy. I have also had a dental (two teeth pulled - ugh) but my mouth feels all better now. Foster mom would be very happy to discuss my bloodwork and medical issues with you, and send all of my test results to your vet. Nothing to hide, but you would probably feel better knowing that by taking a look for yourself.

I may not be the most Siamese looking cat in the world, but I've been told I'm lovely. I have a soft and plush grey coat, and a bit of a darker ears, mask, and tail. I have lovely blue eyes. While I'm a bit shy, I'm very friendly once I get to know you. I need a quieter home, with nice kitties only, preferably one with a nice big cat tree where I can look out the window. Foster dad says I would be the ideal cat for a small apartment - I am quiet and well behaved, and won't annoy the neighbors (or you) by running all over the place and knocking things off your tables. I would be fine with older children, and maybe even a calm old dog who isn't interested in chasing kitties.

I am a very special girl indeed - so special that I have an 'adoption scholarship' offered to the right home. I come with my brush (of course!), my bed, a case of my favorite food, and a big supply of my medicine. I'm no trouble to medicate, either - just put a dose in my canned food every three days, and we're in business.

Anybody want to give a beautiful meezer mix another chance? Then ask about me!

Notes from Home
1-29-2013 -- Sesame crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Wednesday, January 9th, due to a neurological deterioration. I miss her.

9-13-2012 -- Sesame, Declan and I are going through an adjustment period due to Nellie going over the Rainbow Bridge last month. Earlier this week I put a calming collar on Sesame in hopes that it would help her relax a bit and not let the pesty boy bother her so much. He really doesn't understand why she won't play with him when she'll play with the wand toy! She's very funny to watch when she's playing with the toy while hissing at him!

9-29-2011 -- about the time Sesame and I figured out the right Lactulose dose, she was diagnosed with asthma. Since prednisolone doesn't provide sufficient control, we're using inhaled meds. Fortunately she's been reasonably cooperative with me using the Aerokat for her inhaled meds but she's not as cooperative with others trying to 'puff' her.

Sesame really loves to be around people but doesn't like Declan infringing on her no-cat zone. He's gotten her down to about 6" if there's a sunspot to share but most of the time she wants him about twice that. Unfortunately if he sees her downstairs, he'll pester her until she runs back to her safe room (and of course, he has to chase her when she does that!) Is it any wonder she thinks he's a major pest!?!

10-21-2010 -- Sesame and I continue a little dance called "One step forward and two steps back." Although I reported that we had her input/output balanced, it turns out that I was overoptimistic so it's been a difficult three weeks for her with lots of change and angst. Unfortunately we have a couple more weeks to go before I'll have a month without travel. While we made progress during this week since I've been home, keep your fingers crossed that my next trip (starting Sunday) doesn't throw her off again. On the definite upside, she's cute, funny and a complete purr-bunny when she's comfortable.

9-28-2010 -- Sesame continues to acclimate at her own pace. This morning she only let me pet her a few times before she headed to her food dish. She is becoming much more assertive in her safe place - Saturday she hissed at Declan when he dared to get on 'her' bed (my friend who's visiting said he just shrugged and got down w/o a fuss) - but she's very reserved when taken out of the room.

Jackie was right that Sesame love, love, loves to be brushed. Sometimes she gets so excited, she can't hardly settle down to actually being brushed. She's so sweet in her interactions with people but I think she prefers them one-on-one so I have hopes that once things settle down in November, she'll blossom.

We have figured out how to keep her intake and output in balance so her door's open except when she's being fed primarily so she's not feeling that she has to compete for food. (Of course, that closed door has Declan convinced she's getting something oh-so-much more special than the food in his own dish! so he grumbles and mumbles at that door in his face, and then proceeds to eat his own food when he gets back downstairs). Both Declan and Nellie have been in to see her but she's remained somewhat aloof so far.

LOLITA
Hi! I'm Neari and just got here, so I've got a little growing to do before I can go home. I'm a snowshoe girl, which means I'll be a loving, very playful kitty, long after I'm out of kittenhood. I can go home with my brother, Jason, or home alone as long as there is another cat in the house for me to play with.

For now, I'm just gonna chill and eat, play and grow till it's time for me to go to my forever home.

Lolita is a sweetie girl that was glued to his brother when they just arrived. Now she feels more confident and is able to get in trouble all by herself! :-). We are building up a relationship of trust . She loves to bee brushed., as long as is done on top of the cat tree. . She has a stronger Siamese voice than her brother. She talks more and not only when she is hungry; also when she is playing and enjoying it. She is the one that can sit still near me when I am knitting. She is the one that let me hold her as if she were a baby and come to bed with me.
Lolita and her brother have enlightened my life and I can't imagine living without them . These are great, great cats . I cant believe how lucky I have been getting them.!
i give thanks for them everyday. :-)

Tango and his sister Lolita came to my life 7 months ago. Tango is mommy's boy since the very beginning. I love his personality He is very outgoing, not shy at all, sweet and adorable. He let me handle him, pet him, brush him, trim his claws, etc., although not for too long, yet. He is very active and is always moving. When he is not getting inside the microwave , he is playing with the telephone cables(till we have no tone) them or stealing staff from a closed! drawer without opening it. :-).
A very playful cat that bonded with her sister like Bonny and Clyde type of gangsters :-) . He starts and she follows him in whatever mischievous thing he is doing.
I can't imagine my life without him and his sister . They rescued me in a difficult moment of my life! And they keep on doing it every day!
Thank you, Tanguito! Mommy's love you very much!

This picture is typical, and is entitled "We're hungry!" That's Moto in the foreground. My friend Kristi titled it "Empty bowls, so sad"! They are chow hounds with no short-term memory! In the morning, I feed them, go walking with my neighbor, which takes about 35 minutes, return to the house and am told they haven't been fed in DAYS, and would I hurry up and feed them, please! They eat every scrap of food. I'm still putting lots of water in their dinners--they don't drink much from their water bowls, but from the through-put that shows up in the litter box, they must be getting enough to drink!

They have gotten a lot lighter in color, especially Moto. Maybe it's because they've shed so much dark hair! The shedding seems to be slowing down, but I think I've combed out enough to make several new cats, not to mention what they've left on the furniture! I always said my knitting projects were 5% cat hair, but may have to revise that number up!

They each weigh about 14 1/2 pounds, down a bit from when they left the center, and look pretty good. In fact, they are quite handsome! They continue to show more personality. In the last few weeks, they've started to play with each other and toys more. Moto is definitely the top cat, and reminds Mick about once a day in a wrestling match. They get "messages from Planet Cat" where they leap up, run around the room or upstairs, and then settle back down until they get another message. Just today Moto has discovered that one of the wands they came with has a hunk of fur and some leather tassles on it. He's killed the fur and is dragging the whole thing around the house and making growly noises. When not otherwise occupied, he walks around muttering under his breath about who knows what.

Mick has discovered the Millie beds and loves to tuck himself in. If I head in the direction of the bedroom, he runs and jumps on the bed to be petted. He's the lover of the two. Such a sweetie!

In August, I left them with the cat sitter (a teenager who comes in to feed, clean and play with them) twice. I was nervous, but they didn't seem to notice.

I guess you can tell this is a successful adoption! I really appreciate the wonderful work the Center does, and I've been talking it up around here. Kathi, next time you come to the river, give me a call and come see the boys!

Received your notice that the cats are celebrating 6 months at my house. Seems like they have been been here forever. Both Mick (so much more masculine than Miki!) and Moto have got things running pretty much as they want them. They have abandoned the Millie beds and sleep on the real bed, or in the hammock (see picture) on the dining room window. Found that at WalMart for under $25. It suction-cups to the glass, and they share nicely.

They are holding their weights at about 14 1/2 pounds each. Their "stomach clocks" are unfailing. There's breakfast, then a snack at noon, dinner at 4, and another snack before bed. If someone else is watching them, they only get 2 meals. I had a very nice timer/feeder for the previous cats. These little darlings figured out how to pry it open! Quite a feat without opposable thumbs, but one day I watched them and they cooperated in the process! I've since found another timer dish which I HOPE will be tamper proof.

I've sent a small donation and hope to be able to send more later in the year. I'm talking up the Rescue to anyone who will listen. It's truly a wonderful service you all offer to the kitties.
