CHUNKY MONKEY
Trapped as a stray, this boy is very gentle and loves to be near his humans. Quieter home preferred so he can continue his calm ways.

Chunky Monkey what a cat! I’ve had Siamese cats most of my adult life but this guy is something else! He makes you smile when that’s the last thing on your mind, he’s a real character. He arrived a month ago today and within hours had collected all the dust bunnies in the house. He attached himself to my wife within hours just in case she needed help with anything and will race ahead to get things ready if he sees her heading into another room. We now have someone to stand guard everyday at the window birdfeeder making sure no birds or squirrels get in the house. Conversation…wow what a conversationalist twice a day morning and evening he goes off like an alarm clock letting us know it’s time to eat. The only time I’ve had that kind of excitement at feed time was from a dog. We adopted a second Siamese an older female who wasn’t sure she wanted or needed a cat friend but he won her over and they both sleep at the foot of bed now at night. More stories to come I’m sure.

COLBY
I'm a traveling man, been here and there and did fine. As you can see I love dogs, I adore my humans and with other cats, I'd like someone to play a good game of freeze tag with! I've got lots of play in me, love to have fun, love to be loved, and am very good in my habits!

Colby is doing fantastic ! We couldn’t be happier with him. He truly is a great cat! We are lucky to have him!
I am setting up a plan with my vet to keep on top of his kidney levels but besides that he's eating well, very active and has great habits! I switched his food over to Blue with hairball control since he was having some coughing fits and that seems to be helping along with an occasional hairball treat. He seems to really like the Blue food too. I put a bowl of it next to his regular food and he seems to prefer the Blue. He also gets wet food each day with water which he LOVES! We also have a brushing session once a day which really helps with his hair shedding and he enjoys.
I hope you are doing well ! Thanks again for everything!
8/12 Colby is a complete joy! We are enjoying having him as a part of our family so much! He loves to sleep at night on the pillows resting against the headboard above our heads. He also loves to lick my husband's face in the morning to wake him up.
He has wonderful habits and is just a wonderful cat in general. He is eager to greet guests at the door and loves to follow us around the house. He gets along so well with our puppy and really enjoys being with the puppy.
We could not be any more pleased with the Rescue especially Kathi and Siri. Kathi has been a great advisor and friend.

Hello!
Just wanted to give you a quick update on Colby. He is the most wonderful boy ever, we couldn’t have gotten a more perfect companion. He is such good company and we really really enjoy having him around. Everyone that comes over and sees him remarks how we were so lucky to get such a great cat. I have attached some pictures of him with Wink. They get along so well, everywhere that Wink is Colby is close by. They play all the time and Colby loves to groom Wink. They also are big fans of sunbathing together! It was a match made in heaven. Thank you ,Thank you, Thank you for your tremendous help in matching us up and for your Rescue for such a great cat. We couldn’t be happier!
Hope you are doing well, Happy New Year!
Devon

Colby continues to be a wonderful part of our family. We couldn't love him any more or be any happier. He loves the tv box on top of the dresser and that is his favorite place to curl up and take a nap, especially when it has warmed up!
He sleeps at the bottom of the bed every night and every morning loves to meow a morning hello.
We are so thankful for him and for you helping place us in our lives!

Chaz has been with us for over a month now and has traveled well to both our homes in Maine and Massachusetts this summer. He has learned to jump onto windows and really enjoys watching any activity outside. He has become a bed bug and even shares the bed with our dog Jasmine as we all sleep. He is very secure and is a a voracious eater. We are hoping his fever mask continues to subside but it does remind us still of the journey he made to be with us. Purrs and head, hand and foot butts to his friends back in Virginia. Karen

In a few days I will be celebrating 4 months at my forever home with my mom, dad and doggie Jasmine. My mom finally understands why Aunt Siri called me an ambassador. You see, I really do get along with everyone and every situation. I must say though that I am the happiest I have ever been. My mom and dad see it everynight as I purr and snuuggle and chest, neck and face rub.them. Dare not they get up at night, I will find them!
I am happy to report that my fever mask is entirely gone. Now you can see my beautifiul seal color. I must admit I LOVE to eat, no more of those social eating days - although I enjoy eating with my family and doggie as well. I left the Washington DC shelter at 8 lbs., SCRC at 10lbs.,and I am a well filled out large guy at 12 lbs. My mom has me on a conservative diet so I don't expode and so that she can still pick me up.
I have many beds throughout my house, and my mom never knows where she will find me. I am even enjoying those fluffy beds she has now, they are definitely better than the floor days. I am still a step guy though, you have to be ready for any changes around you.
My mom says that my doggie had emergency surgery last week so I am busy being loving and thoughtful. We are hoping the surgery was a success, so pray with me that Jasmine will be my forever companion.

With all my love, and purrs and head butts to all of you that healed my pain back in Virginia and along the way,

Hello from Massachusetts. I have been in my furever home and with my new family now for more than 6 months. I must say that it feels like I have been with my ma, pa amd Jas (our woofer) forever. As I look around me,, I have the freedom to watch the birds from my living rom slider and I have no desire to leave, comfy beds in many rooms to rest in, plenty of food to eat (I do like all kinds but LOVE my Wellness), a great lap to sit on in my special downstairs room with pa, cozy beds to go to whenever I choose and great hugs and kisses from my ma. Since I have discovered the digs in the basement my mom has kept the door closed more often as she is afraid I may become a basment rat. Her fears are probably unfounded as I often rest on the steps between the rooms. I am looking forward to my travels to Maine in late spring with those huge windows and the companionship from that college kid who insists I sit a special way on her lap. My doggie is doing well after her second surgery and we are pretty good friends but once in a while she goes in my cat bed and I am not sure she knows she is a dog! I am known to sneak into the bed to say goodnight to ma, pa and Jasmine. Come morning I can be found next to ma's head with Jasmine at her side. What a wondeful life!
My love, thanks and head, face, and chin butts to my special friends back in Virginia.
P.S. You might find a Christmas Card from us in your discarded e-mails. I'll enclose an Xmas photo so you have one!

Love, Chaz

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY OUR GENTLE GIANT!!
It has been over one year since this wonderful guy became part of our family and our lives. Time sure flies, but it honestly feels like he has been here always. He remains so nice and he always has the greatest catitude. Chaz recently was diagnosed with megacolin, and after some ups and downs (and hiding) we seem to be on track with twice daily treatments and success! He is getting back to the guy who lets nothing or anyone bother him. His new friend Summit (our 3-mth adoptee) is finally realizing he wouldn't hurt a flea and someday we hope get a picture of the two closer together. Interestingly, they each lay with the opposite arm extended in front of them, would love to capture the mirror effect.

We hope to provide continued good news and updates about our Chaz-man, he wouldn't want it any other way.
We will send updated photos in a few days. Love to Siri and the rest of you great folks at SCRC

Karen and Chaz (Jas and Summit too!)

HERE ARE OUR UPDATED PHOTOS

Chaz continues to adjust to his medications and the changes it brings to his appetite and energy. He is most definitely the sweetest guy you could ever love.

Karen, Doug, Jasmine, Chaz and Summit

April 2012

Our Chaz-man is doing fantastic with his medications for megacolin 2x/day (CISAPRIDE, MIRALAX, & PEPCID). Our lives are entwined with his care, but he is so worth it. What a sweet sweet guy.

We love you buddy!

March 2013

With broken hearts and forever love we lost our Chaz-man suddenly to an unknown medical issue March 9th.
His calm loving ways and friendliness will live on in our hearts forever. He filled us with smiles and joy for a lifetime of sweet memories. Upon reflection, he was sure to say goodbye the day prior to leaving us in complete sadness.

Goodbye to our sweet gentle soul until we meet again.

Karen, Doug, Kara, Adam, Jasmine and Summit.

What a sweet girlie girl! Apparently spayed very young, no scar. She tricked us all.

Very loving. Purrs up a storm when she snuggles in next to you for the night.

Very sure she loves your attention. A little older than we originally thought at 6-7 yrs old, just old enough to know she loves you.

Very cute!

Very calm and well behaved.

Very much wanting you to hit Ask about me so you know more.

Sidney is relaxing more and more. She's actually meowing and purring louder than when she arrived, which tells me she's feeling a little more confident each day. She's eating well and has put on a few ozs. She's so tiny that that is significant for her. She's sitting at the sliders right now, watching the snow fall. More snow?! Oh well, we're nice and cosy inside.

CHARLIE
Hi, There!

I was one of a litter of 4 very purry, happy, active flame point kittens. I'm quite the active guy. I'm doing well in my foster home and spending my days playing, eating, growing and looking out the window.

I am ready to go to my forever home now. I am the only one left. :( My 3 brothers have gone to their forever homes. My foster mom says I am her shadow -- so friendly and affectionate. Also, always busy playing.

Are you ready for some fun & affection!?! I love my foster home but want my very own forever home. I need playmates wherever I go. I will make you laugh every day.

March 18, 2013. Charlie is now called Toby. He was a playful lovebug from the moment he arrived, intensely affectionate with us and intensely curious about our pug Brutus and our other cat Olivia. Olivia was standoffish at first, but Toby's persistence won her over. He is quite comfortable with Brutus around and often goes nose-to-nose with him, but he would prefer Brutus not chase him. He sleeps with us every night, and last night curled up in my arms under the covers for the first time. Heaven!

DEXTER
Killer here. Momma wanted me to have a 'tough boy' name because at the moment, I've got a pretty bad cold and she wants me to fight it!! I should be able to tell you a little more about myself as soon as I'm feeling better - maybe by this weekend. Even though I don't feel well, I am FULL of beans, and want to be in the middle of as much activity as I can.

Dexter is the cutest!!! He is so spunky and full of personality, and he is getting along with Katie amazingly! They are both obsessed with the wand with sparkly strings at the end of it, thanks so much Belinda and everyone else for giving us that lovely goodie bag! We are giving them plenty of exercise and snuggles... They both slip into bed with us and are the best cuddles ever! Thank you Siamese Rescue for giving us these adorable little meezers!

KATIE
After several nights of staying in various places (hotels), I'm already settled into my foster meom's house. I've checked the food...seems meezer worthy...checked litter box..seems meezer worthy...checked out toys...definately meezer worthy. So..I'll just settle in for awhile until my foster meowm finds my forever family. I'm a beautiful blue girl & I'm told I'm typical..whatever that means. I'm just not too fond of traveling, as my meow is bigger than my little body when I'm confined.

So until we meet....

Purrs & hugs,
Katie

MING
Absolutely gorgeous Balinese coat, white as can be with beautiful smokey points, I am a very smart, petite female who knows what I like and likes what i know. I was in a busy household that didn't suit, I'd prefer a quieter routine, older kids are okay but well behaved ones please :) I'm checking out the other cats and will let you know my opinion on that soon - I suspect an easy going male (pls be sure he's handsome) might work for me, but as is true of most gals, being the Queen of the Castle is also just fine.

Notes from Home
Ming wins the prize for easy to acclimate! She bounded out of the crate the minute it was open and did a thorough investigation of the house--even cried at the closed doors so she could gain entry! By bedtime the first day she had eaten, drank out of her fountain, used the litter box and played with toys. She was even purring and making biscuits! We were so pleasantly surprised by her transition, she did fantastic.

She took a good sniff of all Chance's toys, but that's as close as she's gotten. She watches him closely and will hide for a few minutes if he barks at her, which isn't much. He's wagging his tail like crazy and dying to play with her but she's not ready for that!

She is so well mannered and I have seen no bad behaviors. Doesn't even jump up on kitchen counters. She'll go to anyone who wants to pick her up. One bitty exception: My 9 yr old nephew came over and she scratched him as soon as he got near her--safe to say she had a nasty child in her past. Good call on Siri's part to mark her 'no children.'

Her first day she jumped up on my desk when I sat down at the PC, so I've put her bed there and she loves it. I've attached a photo of her snoozing away while I work.

Siri: her appetite is very good and she's really liking the wet food now. I don't see any problem switching her over eventually.

Thank you all for helping to bring this little angel to our family.

3/16/2013 As it turns out, she's a little devil and she should have come with a case of band-aids.

One thing I've learned about rescue is that if you pay attention, you'll know exactly what their life was like before they came to you. She doesn't respond to her given name at all, (we usually just call her Kitty) which makes me wonder how much interaction she used to have. She has no bad habits at all but is very distrustful of people. She wants to be near you at all times but if you touch her when she doesn't want it, she attacks--teeth and claws. When I say attack, I mean she actually lunges out of her bed at you like she wants to rip your throat out. When you pull your hand away she closes her eyes and ducks down low, like she expects to be hit! It is too sad! She's so beautiful and barely 7 pounds--how could someone hit her?

We've done as Siri suggested and gave a verbal 'ouch' when she hurt us. She stares at us like she hates us for a few minutes then goes back to her usual self. Then she 'apologizes' by coming to sit on my laptop, or reaching her little paw out to you. It's pitiful.

I don't think she ever had a toy, definitely never saw a cat condo or tree or scratching post. It wasn't until just a few days ago that she figured out how fun the cat tree was. As for the dog, she's fascinated at a distance, walks within a foot of him, is terrified if he barks. He lies at my feet while I work, she's in the Millie bed on my desk, one day she attacked my daughter's girlfriend when she came over to pet her. Chance jumped up and gave her a piece of his mind, which isn't easy since he can't jump up. He growled at her like he was defending Dawn. Kitty's eyes were as big as saucers.

Since the time Siri started her on good food up until now, you can see a noticeable difference in her coat and body. She looks like she gained a couple ounces and her fur is gorgeous, her eyes seem even brighter. I truly believe that good food is worth every penny. I think she's healthy but I still think her poop is a little dry considering she's on 2/3rd's wet food.

I have thought so many times to myself, what if Siamese rescue hadn't picked her up? What if she had gone to someone less understanding? I shudder to think what could have happened to her.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to de-program an attack kitty, we would appreciate your feedback.
Vicki

Notes from Home
Just wanted to let you know that this little person who has come to live with me is completely wonderful. I wake up every morning in total amazement that I'm so blessed to have her. She's smart, she's loving, she's companionable, she loves to be near me. What more could anyone ask? She's healed beautifully from her unfortunate surgical experience and has moderated her food consumption. AND, she is funny. She becomes a clown some days, investigating things and occasionally making messes, but never enough to keep me from smiling! My heavens, if I'd had her first, I'd probably never married and had three children. Just thought you should know how happy you've helped make an elderly (strike that---an OLDER person. I'm still calling her Precious, but it still isn't written in stone. However, she is THAT, precious.
She has started sleeping under the covers at my feet and licking my toes! Is that wonderful or what? I love it.
Time to make dinner; she always sits on a high stool to watch me in the kitchen and is ready to hop down to her dish. I feed her the canned food she likes (1/2 a small can) so that I can eat in relative peace.
Hope you are still enjoying memories of your trip, which sounded great.
Hope to see you at the Center sometime. I wish I had the energy to drive up there to volunteer; however the d*** grass is growing and my garden needs tilling and tending as soon as the weather really breaks. Also, I've started weaving again, and all this is enough to keep me home with my kitty. Thank you for everything, Siamese Rescue volunteers. My gratitude is boundless. Jeanie

This wonderful, beautiful, loving, funny little person has now been with me for a whole year! Her name has changed from Safflower to Precious to Lovebug to Mocha, which suits her. She saw her vet day before yesterday for annual exam and shots, and everyone in the office loved her, but then she always leaves everyone smiling. At the moment, she is asleep on some tax papers in front of the monitor, having moved off the keyboard after landing there unannounced. She does this almost every time I come to the computer with a "Here I am!" expression on her face. She just flopped over on her back for a tummy rub.
You would not believe this kitty. From the first day, anyone who entered the house was immediately greeted with an almost silent meow, and then, THUMP, she throws herself at that person's feet and rolls over, front paws in a supplicating pose, and hind legs spread, exposing soft, furry tummy for rubbing and purr time. She can hold that posefor 20 minutes or so. People are always amazed and cannot resist, even those who don't care for cats -- until now. She's made some converts of a few of 'em. A grouchy neighbor who had never looked at Bleu, calls this one Sweetie! Her vet believes she thinks she's a dog.
She keeps watch on my lap, expecting it to become available any minute for her settling on it. When she came here, she fit on it, but at her present 12 pounds, there's some overflow and I have to tuck a pillow at one thigh or the other to accommodate her. She has never been a fussy eater, and began a year ago with a 1/2 cup of dry food and a half can of Fancy Feast per day. However, I didn't like the weight gain and reduced her diet to 1/3 cup dry (Blue Buffalo or Wellness) in the morning and 1/3 can of Fancy Feast in the evening. She usually leaves a smidgen of the canned and tries to cover it up by scratching the floor all around. She is wonderfully tidy in the litter box, also, and works very hard at covering everything. With this food cut-back, she's lost about 3/8 of a pound since November; the vet says she's perfect. Of course, I agree 100%.
She doesn't like for me to sleep much later than 6:30 A.M. and has various strategies to get me up and downstairs for her breakfast, first digging and scooping at me, then sitting on any surface she can hang onto and kneading me like a pan of bread dough, and then assuming the weight of an elephant in the middle of my stomach, boring down until the pain is too much to ignore. I get out of bed laughing every morning.
She had two shots this week, which may have affected her appetite just a tiny bit, but she's back to her normal happy self today. I do love this precious person and wonder how I got through life without her to reach 81! Will have to stop, keyboard in my lap. She's sitting on the keyboard shelf, head-butting me and purring. She doesn't talk the way Bleu did, but she communicates in dozens of other ways. I'm conscientious about playing with her and keeping her active--great response there, which leads me to believe she's younger than first estimated. Dr. Handley and I agree that she's probably closer to 4 now than 5.
Thank you for everything you did for me to have Mocha. We're a true match. Oh, and did I ever tell you why I didn't keep Precious as her name? My friend WS. (who adopted C.B. after babysitting Bleu a couple of years ago and learning how wonderful Siamese are--My friend W. lives a block down the street and we knit, spin, and weave together) had difficulty saying "Precious's toys" or "Precious's food) with her new dentures. She was afraid she'd project them across the room with all the ssssss, so I had to find a name that didn't cause that problem. I decided it was too awkward for her to say "The toys of Precious," etc.
Hope your life is going well and that all the kitties in your care find homes as happy as mine is.
Sincere gratitude,
Jean B

LAMBERT
OK forget all that other stuff you may have read about me being heart broken and doing nothing but sulk. That was a life time ago! Now I act like a completely normal guy - greeting foster mom, winding around her legs while she is fixing my food, jumping in her lap when she finally sits down, the list goes on. If you're looking for a handsome fella to join your family you should consider me. Foster Mom will send my story to you. All you have to do is ask!

Love,
Lambert

Notes from Home
So much progress yesterday! Lambert was quite chatty, and eventually even approached me for pets! He turned over and exposed his belly and made lots of biscuits as I gave him love and affection. He is still hiding but was out and soaking up all the love a number of times. It's funny--he will be out from under the bed and when I come in to the room, he looks panicked like he's "supposed" to be hiding, but then sometimes he realizes he's not scared of me anymore and slinks slowly under the bed, instead of dashing. He also jumped up on the bed and on me while I was on it last night! He didn't stay long, but that was huge progress. Can't wait to see what today brings.
