Will has a lot more energy than his "Brother" Ted and enjoys running around the house in the morning while I get their food ready. He enjoys the 2 level Cat Condo at the top of the stairs where he can observe us from above - and likes these little furry mice I had. Will picks the mice up in his mouth and walks around the house - I gave him 3 of these mice and now can't find any - I wonder if he already has a hiding place for them? Will likes to sit on my lap and let Ted lick his fur. I am very lucky to have such a wonderful pair of Kitties and so handsome. I finally am able to tell them apart.
April 6, its been over one month now, and all is going very well with both kitties. I changed Will's name to Rex - he wasn't responding to Will whereas Ted knows his name. I tried several different names with Will and Rex - Sir Rex Harrison, seems to work. His fur on his belly and legs is filling in and he seems to really enjoy his toys and the Millie bed.

Hello from Allspice's new home!
Allspice is doing very well, and has settled in wonderfully. She loves to nap on the bed and the sofa and has been super affectionate - she's been making biscuits and purring non-stop! Her favorite toys are crinkly mylar balls and feather wands, and every night after her dinner she sprints all around the apartment chirping happily. She's become very vocal, especially when she's reminding you that it's mealtime!
She's been eating and using the litter box perfectly, and just had a checkup yesterday where the vet gave her a clean bill of health. We've had a few more nipping incidents, but we're learning to read her body language and avoid overstimulating her, and also making sure to let her know that it's not appropriate behavior.
We are so happy that she's here with us - thanks so much to everyone who helped make this possible!

It's been just over a month now, and things are going great! We've renamed her Mimosa (Mims or Mimsy for short). She has a new favorite toy, a wire cat dancer that she loves to chase all over the apartment. Even when she's exhausted from playing with it and can hardly get off the floor, she lets out a plaintive meow when we put the cat dancer away. She also loves sitting on the sink counter and watching soap bubbles pop. All in all she seems happy and healthy!

Are you one of those really smart adopters who know there's nothing quite like having a geezer in your life ?
If so, Foster Meowm says they just don't get any better than me ! I'm healthy with the testing to prove it, I love people and laps, I get along with other cats just fine, and just looking at me with my eyes crossed and tongue sticking out should lighten up your day!
Like most geezers (and geezerettes), I don't ask for much - a warm home, a soft bed, regular meals and love are all I need to be happy. Oh yes, add a catnip toy to those requirements.
Adopt me and when you look into my eyes and see the love and trust shining back at you, you'll feel like the luckiest person in the world !

Zachariah is doing great! He is healthy and loves to eat...but mostly only beef, beef, beef, anything that says "beef". He started at the foor of the bed and progressed to the head and now will sleep face to face with us. He loves to snuggle and although not keen to be picked up, once you are settled, he will climb on some part of you and "immobilize" you. He hears me arriving from work as I park the car in front of the house and starts meowing, in that great Siamese voice, and I can literally hear him from my parked car. It is amazing, the dogs barking AND Zach meowing! Although an older gentleman, he likes to play peekaboo and will run to us to get his head scratched, run away and hide behind the door and then run back again for more head scratching. Our vet has a great time imitating him, cross eyed and with tongue out. He is a very loving Geezer Meezer, just a fantastic dude!

Wooohoooeyyy! Boys just want to have fun, and that's me, all fun and games! I like to check everything out - in up out and down. 4-4-13, WOW - 3 years since Miko came to Casa de Lewis and shook the whole place up! I love my bad boy, even when he is rotten, which is often. He's becoming more snuggly the older he gets and sleeps with me every night and drives his daddy crazy by always trying to sit on his lap vs mine. Miko's new job is ambassador to the new foster meezers that come in and out and so far he's doing a great job making friends and giving me an idea if the new kitties are kitty-friendly. Who knew what adopting one little meezer from Virginia would end up with me in the meezer movement, intake and foster business??
12-6-11, Since I stopped by to update our newest meezer, Moof, I thought I'd update Miko as well. He says Merry Christmas to all and THANK YOU for his new black and tan brother...finally a kitty that will put up with him. Miko & Moof are best of buds - Moof lets him lay on him, clean him and attack him when he's hyper. Though, Moof does make sure that, like any good big brother, he gives him a good thumping after Miko gets on his nerves. Miko has definitely become a momma's boy too, monopolizing my lap when I'm on the computer, laying on my back if I'm on the floor reading the paper or a book and curling up ontop of me on the blankets each night. Who new I would come to love this rotten boy so much?!?!
8-24-11, A year and a half-later and a 2nd lake season under his belt, Miko is doing great! He is a fun and funny cat and it's hard to imagine life without him (though Mishka certainly wishes for a life w/o him!). Miko got to have an absolute blast with a fellow wild & crazy meezer, Tia, who was adopted last week and our first extention foster. Those two would thunder thru the house like a herd of elephants with giant crooks in their tail from excitement.
Miko LOVES to snuggle - when I'm on the computer. Little buddy 'sucks' me in, in the mornings when checking emails before work - he curls up and snuggles & it's all I can do to pull myself away to get dressed & head out. Thanks to all, especially the meezer express volunteers & Roy, for helping us get this super loved furkid!!!!
Well, it's been about 6 months now and I guess Miko (FKA Wonton) is a keeper. It was a rough start with his big sister and some biting issues...quite rough in fact. BUT, with the help and suggestions of Siri and all the volunteers at SCRC (and a prescription of Prozac from the vet;->) we have an amazing new family member.
Miko is a wild and crazy guy - can run faster than any cat I've ever seen! He LOVES wand toys LOVES to chew anything paper and LOVES water! He'll splash in toilet bowls, bath tubs and will sit in the shower - while running! We were starting to wonder if he truly was the right cat, but when we realized that he was a water cat - we knew the match was perfect. We were extra sure when he purred for the 1st time we'd ever heard on his first trip to the lake!!! We took him to the cottage all summer, along with his sister Meezer Mishka(who isn't quite as water loving as Miko), and gave some of the boaters a real shock to see our furry little monster on the pontoon! He loves to ride the boat, will walk down the dock on his leash and will even ride the raft and boogie board on the sandbar. None of our neighbors can quite figure it out!
Back at home now, he's calming down and fitting in quite nicely - is really getting to be a lap lover and snuggles with mom every nite :) THANK YOU to SCRC, the volunteers and especially the Meezer Express who helped bring Miko, and the joy he brings to our family, to us!!

Wait a minute, my brother and sister have both been adopted. I am as nice as they are why have I not found my forever home? I have told foster mom to get busy because I am ready. It is nice here but this is not forever! OK now it is time to get down to business.
Am I a great cat? Of course I am even if I do say so myself. Foster mom and everyone who meets me says it too.
Am I playful? Oh yes I am. I love to play with my toys and with other cats. I run around and have a lot of fun.
Do I use my litter box? Without fail.

KOKO
My owner died and I was left at the shelter. I had no idea who those people were or why I was there. I decided not to eat or drink, so they were nice to me and called rescue. Foster mom just picked me up. I'm a little happier here, but I'm still grieving my loss. Please give me a few days and I think I'll be back to my friendly self and then may want you to take me home. I'll need someone who will be very patient with me and love me forever and ever. A quiet home would also be very good for me. Foster mom says to tell you I am a very handsome boy!! Just a little purr to you right now, Coco.
UPDATE: Coco is now feeling much better. He is a real lover boy and LOVES laps and human attention. He has a loud Meezer voice. He lets you know what he wants by talking and headbutting you. He just needs a few more days to get over his cold and he'll be a happy, sweet boy who'd make someone a wonderful companion cat with some of the most beautiful deep blue eyes ever. UPDATE 2: OK, Folks - why am I still here? All I need is a lap and some good love and I'm yours forever. I just had some teeth pulled and my remaining six teeth cleaned, so I'll not even need to have my mouth worked on when I get home. I'm in GREAT shape. PLEASE ask foster mom about me! Remember I LOVE LAPS.

Koko developed a malignant tumor in his airway 03/06...at least that was when it was first diagnosed by our vet (Dr Phelps - Swift Creek Animal hospital). We watched Koko closely the next couple of weeks and took him in again o/a 03/20. He went downhill and on 03/25 we hav the vet check him again...vet said he could see the tumors' progress. On 03/26 Koko could hardly take a breath and couldn't use his box. On telephone advice from the vet we took Koko in on Wed AM 03/27 we took Koko to the vet and had him put to sleep.

Zoey is very happy in her home, although she is very spoiled and thus a little overweight. She is definitely a diva and a little princess. She loves to lay in the sink and has fallen into the bathtub more than two or three times as she is a bit clumsy. She also loves sleeping on her back and laying down with her legs straight back behind her. She is a very weird cat, but our family loves her and wouldn't want her any other way.

Update 1/18/13: I did it! I touched foster mom all by myself. Okay, so she was asleep on the sofa and I just became part of the cat pile on top of her and I got off as soon as she woke up. But when she went to bed, I got up on the bed and play catch the bed mice with her feet for 10 minutes and she was awake and watching me. With the light on. And she has a 4 day weekend so we can practice!
Let me entertain you! I chase my tail, wrestle with my cat buddies and race all over the house. I am pretty scared about being picked up so you need me to get used to you. I will sniff your fingers and hang out everywhere you do. Please don't leave me out! I am working on that people touch thing. I jump on and over people legs when I play so I am thinking about it, okay?

Finnigan (now known as "Sam") is doing great. Believe it or not, he's become a real lap cat! After a little over a month in his new home, he is roaming the house, playing with his "sister," and loves to be petted. While there are still hints of shyness, he's come a very long way! Attached is a picture of him curled up on Michael's lap playing video games :)
