GREEBO
Play? Snuggle. Play? Snuggle. Play?

I just can't decide! I love to do both! You see I grew up in a home with a gazillion other cats and no toys, and now I can't believe the wealth of fun goodies there are to play with! I think I've struck it rich! There are cat trees to climb, and furry mice to bat, balls to play soccer with and krinkle toys to ambush. Oh, and then there are naps, and being held upside down and kissed like a baby! Life Is GOOD!

It's about time, because my earlier life took its' toll on me! My hind legs are weak and wobbly, but as my muscles strengthen, so do my legs. While I won't ever be perfect I will be PURRfect!

I had so much competition in my first home I just don't want to share, so lots of humans are great, but other cats, no thanks. Do you have lots of toys though? Cuz I'm going to need those!!!! And lots of kissing, loving, and carrying around!

Notes from Home
It's been two weeks already and we are all well trained. Beenie is now Greebo. Greebo is a cat in Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. Our Greebo is already living up to his name as a real character.

The ride back to Pennsylvania from Virginia Center was uneventful. He had to check out the car at our first break and then he was quiet and slept the rest of the trip. When we got home, he was introduced to my office where his litter box is located. He has been eating and using the box on a regular and predictable manner. He was very pleased to explore the rest of the house and seemed to approve of it all. He still stays in his room whenever we are not home. I don't trust him to stay off the kitchen counter and table, yet.

We did take a roadtrip to our shore house. That was an adventure. Greebo was not sure so he burrowed into a comforter with a pillow as a roof. He then stuck his head out to watch us work. He dozed but he kept an ear out for anything worth checking out. We are restoring the house after Hurricane Sandy pushed 17 inches of water inside. He slept with me on a single bed in a bedroom that night. It was such a tight squeeze that he slept on my pillow. I awoke in the morning to find him washing my hair.

He did not like the vet looking at his ears and he quickly found my lap for protection. She was surprised and pleased to see how quickly he had bonded to me.

We now have a routine with play times and cuddle times. He has three modes- play and cuddle. Don't mix them up, please. His third mode is "you-have-not -fed-me- for -weeks, get-the-food-out-NOW!" He is still very thin but not as bad as when he first came to us. I have added about a tablespoon of hard food mid afternoon to get him to dinner time. He asks for it when he has been romping and playing.

He is now sleeping on the arm of the couch waiting for me to head to bed, He will get his overnight dry food and then he will come to bed with me. At 4 am, I will get up to go to the bathroom. When I return, he will lick my hands and face to encourage me to play. I hide under the covers to go back to sleep. He is persistent. Fortunately, my husband gets up an hour later. Greebo helps him get ready and they have great conversations. They are both morning souls.

Greebo is still the ping pong champion. He chases the ping pong balls throughout the main floor with gusto. Once we move all the boxes back to the shore house, he will miss the obstacle course. I fish out stuck ping pong balls from corners all day long. He comes to get me to help him. He is really blossoming into a happy, confident cat. He cuddles on his terms but he follows me throughout the house all day long.

Enough for now. TIme for bed. Pam and Greebo at midnight on April 16, 2013.

I think Greebo is happy. He spends all day as my shadow until the ping pong balls call too loudly. Then he is off, chasing ping pong balls around the house. He even has me trained to come sweep a yard stick under the couch and love seat to free the poor ping pong balls. He shows me exactly where he lost it and I rescue it.

He has turned out to be a good traveler. We stop several times on the drive between houses to let him stretch and use the litter box. When we tell him it's time to go, he gets back in his box on his own. He rides quietly.

I did want to share with you the magical capabilities of the fleece baskets from Siamese Cat Rescue. When it is turned over, it becomes a perfect hiding place from shop vacs, delivery men and other unexpected noises. We even picked up the couch where he was hiding under his basket and moved it without disturbing Greebo. When we first get to the house, it has been cold from the heat being set so low. The overturned fleece basket becomes a warm nest for sleeping until the house warms up. Without carpeting and furniture, Greebo has turned the entire house into a ping pong chasing arena. Unfortunately, he prefers to play after we have gone to bed so we listen to him slam into trash bags, boxes and various other obstacles in his game.

Last weekend, Stan had the pleasure of having Greebo remind him to get up at 5 am with kitten kisses and purring. When that did not work, Greebo began licking his ticklish feet, then nibbling on his feet when Stan pulled a sheet over them, and Greebo then pounced when the feet moved. Welcome to my early mornings. He could not believe how persistent the happy little bugger was.

The carpet is coming next Friday and the furniture will becoming the next day. The shore house should be back together by the end of Memorial Day weekend.

On the behavior end, Greebo does not like to be picked up and held. He will come up on our laps when it is his idea. Most likely, that is because he was not socialized enough when he was little. He sleeps on my bed at night. Last weekend, he slept with Stan on the couch when my cot was not big enough for the two of us. That's why he tried to get Stan up last weekend.

He has bonded with me but he likes Stan. Greebo is friendly and loving to everyone he meets. He was welcoming when neighbors stopped in. He hasn't really interacted with people beyond Stan and I plus the vet so I was glad to see him greet them and then sit quietly on the arm of the couch to follow the conversation.

He is eating well. Half a can of kitten food 8 am and 5 pm with the self feeder providing him a 1/4 cup of food at 5 am and 8 pm. He nibbles at that throughout the day. Because he can eat dry food whenever he wants, he does not gobble the canned food when I give it to him. He eats some and then comes back later to finish it. This means I am giving him the recommended amount of food but he has control of eating when he is hungry.

Greebo will gently bite if he is pet when he does not want to be pet. I will continue to work gently with him. As he grows in confidence, he is doing this less and less.

His litter box habits are very good. His boxes are in my office and do I have noticed that he tends to talk softly to himself while doing his business. Very odd.

I was worried about some wheezing he was doing. I thought he was having it only after running up and down the steps. Then he had one while he was sleeping. I think it may be allergies. The windows were open. I have had the windows closed and we have not had any issues. I will continue to monitor this and check it with our vet.

l will also post this on the website for Siri to see.

Pam & Greebo

Greebo is a foul-tempered one-eyed grey tomcat whose owner, Nanny Ogg, insists against all the evidence that he is a sweet, harmless kitten. In the course of the books, he has killed two vampires, eating at least one of them in the novel Witches Abroad:

"The bat squirmed under his claw. It seemed to Greebo's small cat brain that it was trying to change its shape, and he wasn't having any of that from a mouse with wings on."

ELLIS
Hello, I'm Ellis, and I'm scared! I don't know where I am, or why, but at least my buddy, Elliot is here with me. He keeps telling me that everything will be all right, that's he's here to comfort me. We'll see.

We need to find a new forever home together, and right now I'm going to need someone with patience to let me adjust at my own pace. I am a good boy and don't bite, or pee outside my litter box, but I'm also very shy.

If you think you'd like a nice pair of meezer boys like us, please ask about us!

Ellis
Note from foster: Ellis is coming out of his shell, and pays no attention to Elliott when out in the room, so, though shy, he can go without Elliott.

AUDREY
Well I had my bath today and now I'm all squeaky clean. It wasn't too bad, I didn't have any claws to clip being declawed, and I showed no tendencies to even think about using my mouth :) So if you'e like a laid back easy going friendly gal, you might just come visit me! Congrats Bill and Jeanne in VA!

4/30/13 - Milani continues to do wonderfully! We moved to a new townhouse and there are lots of birds to watch. We have a screened-in porch now and Milani just loves it. She is so easy going! She does have a spot above her tail that she seems to over-groom. The vet said it is likely an allergy but I have tried giving her some allergy medicine and changing her diet and it hasn't improved. Any thoughts on what this could be would be wonderful!

Milani's first month has been great. She has adjusted very well! She is very friendly and loving! She especially enjoys looking out the front window and taking naps on the couch!

WINSTON
Princeton is showing himself to be a very beautiful and quieter kitty, finally feeling confident enough to walk to me for pets. Okay with most other cats and (finally) doggies.

Former owners drove him 10 miles away from their home, dumped him to fend for himself (and his housemate). He found his way back to his house but the owners had moved out. When the weather turned cold, he ended up in a shelter and is finally en route to a much better life.

If you want a sweet boy, this may be your choice. Probably best suited to a quieter (but not silent) home where he can take his time to (l)earn your trust.

Notes from Home
Winston immediately made himself at home by exploring all the cat toys. He particularly loves his knitted ball and the circular ball roll--I think he's left-pawed. I had to remove the knitted ball in the early mornings because he bats it around the bedroom at first light. His visit to the vet was uneventful except that he hid under the bed for 6 hours when we came back. He's a very good guilt inducer. The vet wants him to lose weight and he sits in front of his bowl looking deprived whenever I'm in the kitchen. He's walking around as if he owned the house with his tail up. He waits at the glass front door for me to come home.

Winston has discovered two things: he likes to fetch his ball and have it thrown to him, and he discovered his tail and chases it. A couple of mornings ago, woken by a commotion on the end of the bed, I find Winston chasing his tail.

4/29/13 Winston has to go to the veterinary dentist tomorrow. He's reabsorbing his teeth and has gum disease. He hates being crated, so if you have any good ways to do that, let me know. Last time it took half and hour and we were both traumatized.

MARGUERITE
Here's my deal: I am supposed to eat one kind of food. I know that other kitties get "better" stuff than I. So I try to sneak past mom and get some of their food now and then. When I do, I have a little.....faster need to get to the litterbox.

If I can be around my humans, and even other cats, without closed doors, I just love, love, love it. I have lots of purrs and lap-sitting to share with you.

4/28/13 Well today is one week in Michigan.
M has had an excellent report from her blood work but Vet Kris Moore is doing one more diagnostic to check for pancreatitis. On the home front there is joy all around. M has tons of lap time and cuddle time. She has been eating am and pm but I would like to see her eat more. Loves her fountain! Turns out she is a bit of a night owl--stays up past my bedtime and then comes in to curl up with me later. Guess she needs private time. She misses her DE home I know but is adjusting well to her new surroundings. Today she meets the kitties who live upstairs. More on Lady Marguerite's adventures soon.

SAMMY
Sammy here ready to introduce myself. Foster mom says I am one of those really easy going, laid back boys who is happy no matter what is going on. I'm happy resting in my new cat bed and I'm happy eating food. I'm happy playing with toys and I'm happy sitting in your lap and getting pets. I'm happy in the dark and as you can see in my gallery shots, I'm happy in the sunshine, tool. I've gotta get "fixed" at the vet on Friday. Do you know what that means"? I don't and foster mom won't tell me much about it. Other than the "fixing", I'm in great health and doing very well here at Hotel delShue. If you want a handsome, easy going, laid back boy, you'd better ask about me because I'm the "Cats Pajamas" of a fantastic boy. Purrs and headbutts, Sammy

Sammy has adjusted very well to his new home. His favorite spot is in front of the window watching the birds. He loves to talk to me and our favorite thing to do together is play with all of his toys. He also loves to have his pretty coat brushed. Sammy likes to lay with me in the morning and wait for me to wake up so we can play. We are very happy together and thankful to the Siamese Rescue Center. Thanks to everyone for all of their help!

Sammy is almost three years old and still a healthy happy kitty. He loves to play fetch and have his chin scratched. And he loves getting all of the attention from Mom and Dad. I am so thankful - he is the perfect cat. He makes our apartment a home. I just want to say again how grateful I am to the Siamese Rescue Center.

CAPTAIN MORGAN
Avast ye maties! The Cap'n here!

Shipwrecked on the beach and land locked now - thankfully no longer locked up in the slammer though!

As you can tell from my videos I am one friendly kitty.

While I was with the evaluator I'd go after her kitties and had to be kept behind bars. Well, okay, not really bars. Foster Mom has me in ISO in the bathroom and says she'll see what happens here but for now, I'd have to be your one and only!

If you don't have any other fur around the house, why don't you ask about me?

Love,

The Cap'n

UPDATE!! I'm okay with other cats - I like to play with them so no old, fuddy-duddies!

3/29/2013 Captain Morgan has settled in nicely. He has been playing and eating. He had his first vet visit and passed with flying colors. He has put on .50 lbs since he has been here. Morgan as we call him is a wonderful, fun addition to out family.

4-13 Captain Has been busy triying to help with the housework. He moves his balls from one end of the house to the other. He was trying to help us paint in Abbey's room. Today he was climbing the ladder to see if he could help with the electrical in the attic. lol

4/27 Captain Morgan has really become a member of the family. He has decided that the nipping isn't really a fun game. It has decreased a lot. Abbey is more comfrotable with him. she was actually holding him today. I am uploading some nes pictures and a video- hopefully it will come through.

SPARKY
No, I'm NOT:

... yowling ( I do talk, but am not a yowler boy)
... growling (I'm generally polite to the other meezers here)
... ready for a mouse (well, maybe!)
... waiting for dinner (well...)

No, I was YAWNING when Foster Meown got my tonsils in full view! I do like my naps, but I'd also like to be snuggling in your lap. Or going for a ride on your shoulder - my very favorite activity!

It's so great to have my very own room, with a huge people bed and three windows from which to watch the birdies. So much better than the cage in the hall of the shelter. I had lost my home since kitten-hood, due to the economy (whatever that is) and after a sojourn at the shelter, got a new home. Unfortunately, my new family didn't speak Siamese, so I got returned. Now I'm at the Italian B&B for Wayward Meezers, for a 'stay-cation' while I de-stress a bit and get my whiskers in order.

If you speak Meezer, I'm the guy for you! I've got a big purr-sonality, love laps and so want my very own home and people to love. Can it be with you?

This cat is not suitable for children under the age of 5 (ie 5 and over is OK). This is typically a cat that is shy and a child might scare it, or one that has a potential to bite or play too hardNot with kids under 5

Just having fun playing with my new Owner wo doesn't understand me yet. I try to grab her and put my paws around her when she least expects it. Sometimes I kiss her to hard. I really love her. She let me go for rides in her new vehicle. She totaled her Jeep in an accident last November and was very ill for quite awhile. Now she is back to work and going to Real Estate School for Con't Educ.

It was terrible not having transportation until 3/5/13. We had a visit to the Vets. yesterday and I got all my shots which I was late for. We are up to date now.
My weight has increased by two pounds and I know the summer will take it off because we are going to work on the wood pile.

THADDEUS
I'm just a sweet lynxie boy. I speak to Foster Mom whenever she comes in the room to see me, and I love affection from her. I love giving headbutts and returning affection. I'm still getting used to my new surroundings, but already I'm stealing Mom's heart. How can you resist?

Notes from Home
Thaddeus died on April 19th of a tumor that caused his tongue to swell. It was an aggressive tumor ad there was nothing that could be done as to surgery or any other treatment. He was a loving cat and did not have a mean bone in his body. When we first got him he was very scared, even too scared to play with a piece of string. Over time he did become interested in playing. He would play with my shoelaces, he liked a plastic jumping spider and he liked playing with plastic Easter eggs. I would spin them and he would bat them around.

We still have Oceana. I am interested in adopting Earl Gray if possible.
