PS I have a pinkish nose cuz I rubbed it on the carrier when I came to foster moms-and it peeled! I am still cute right?

Notes from Home
08/03/12 - I know it's been awhile since our last update. Hershey is doing very well. He is as lovable as ever. The only thing Hershey loves more than paper balls is CHICKEN or maybe ice cream-Well he really likes sweet tea too! All kidding aside he is super spoiled-quite demanding at times- and in great health-11lbs. He is really vocal and we love it! He has a few different voices-it's too cute. I am trying to teach him to say Mommy and Chicken. He used to play fetch but not so much anymore. He does know how to sit and sit pretty for his cookies. We are working on catching his mouse in the air. He loves to play on the bed when we are changing the sheets. He hides under all the sheets until the bed is made and then finds his way out! Hershey and Aysa (Beardie) are getting along great, but he gets a little jealous over the the Hedgie every once and awhile. Hershey has really perfected his sliding technique on the hardwood floors-he doesn't run into walls as much as he used to and wow he can run fast sometimes. He is still a little shy when new people come over, but that's okay!

12/29/11 - Check out Hershey's christmas video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkYogAJsyzQ

9/19/11 - The kids asked me to upload this one too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MppC-F1sLxU

9/08/11 - Video of Hershey and Aysa playing (edited) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgj5jxdqKUQ

8/24/11-Hershey is talking much more now. He gets more attached to me and Gary everyday. He is comfortable with my children now too. My son throws him paper balls into the hallway in the middle of the night. So that gets both of them in trouble! Hershey loves to hide under my daughters bed and play with all her toys. I clipped his nails a few weeks ago and he didn't mind a bit. Gary and I went on vacation to GA for a few days and my mom looked in on Hershey a few times a day. She brought her Chihuahua over and Hershey was not scared a bit. Hershey went right up to Zoey and rubbed his head on her. My mom was really surprised. He is still sliding on sliding right into the walls. We love him so much!

7/20/11-Hershey's Dr. Appointment went fine. He is 7lbs 10oz. He got one shot and got started on Revolution. He is still very playful, but he has settled down a lot. He runs and slides on the hardwood like a little kid would in a pair of socks. He slides right into the wall. I think he may knock himself out one day. It's too funny. We love it when he shakes his little butt before he pounces. I think his favorite spot is in my bed right between Gary and I. All is well. We love our Hershey Kiss

7/7/11-Hershey has adjusted very well. He integrated very quickly and seemed to make himself at home from day 1. He is so much fun. He will play fetch sometimes. He goes nuts over his toy mouse and don't leave paper laying around because he will take it. He runs up and down the hallway at night sliding on the hardwood floor with his toys. Twice he got too crazy and needed to be put in the bathroom. He is so sweet and loves to cuddle like a baby. Tomorrow he meets his new Vet, Dr. Fuller. I expect that everything will go wonderful. I am going to get his ears rechecked to make sure all is good. Hershey is doing very well with my children, but he does not care for babies. Loud noises scare him too. Hershey and Aysa (Beardie) are getting along well. I don't worry about either of them when Aysa has floor time. I never go too far, but I give them enough space to get to know each other. Hershey tries to play with Aysa and soon looses interest when he realizes that Aysa doesn't play. Hershey has a pretty funny reaction when Aysa eats his worms. Too funny!

9/14/13: Hershey is doing just great. He is a very loved and spoiled member of our family. He is very affectionate and his personality is comical. He is very vocal and communicates with us in many ways. We love our Hershey Kisses so much.

Notes from Home
Rosemary has been doing great. She is a happy little girl. She likes her new house, is playing very hard all the time, and likes to cuddle a lot. We had our first vet visit today, and she is very healthy. She likes to carry her toys to her litter box, and play inside it but she is slowly growing out of it. She is eating well, and is about 4.1 pounds recently. She was very silent in the first days, but finally started to meow as I constantly talk to her. I am very happy to have her in my life. Thank you Siamese rescue!

October 28, 2012: Rosemary is doing great; eating well, sleeping well, very healthy. She is very playful and affectionate. She is not hiding when my friends come over anymore; she just goes to them and smells them and even plays with them. I think she feels very comfortable here. I am very happy to have her!
November 25, 2012: Rosemary got her Thanksgiving gift: Her brother and she finally got to meet each other. I was thinking what could be better than a Siamese:Two Siameses! They are doing great together. It took them three days before they started to groom each other. They are very lovely together. We are blessed!
P.S. Rosemary is very healthy, and doing well. She is 7.2 pounds, and 6.5 months right now.

Rosemary is now 16 months old and a happy, beautiful girl. She loves her brother Mavi, with whom she plays relentlessly all day. We moved from VA to TX together, and she was so nice in the airplane. Mavi hates airplanes, but I could tell that Rosemary's presence calms his down. Rosemary still has a low, babylike meow, unlike Mavi who likes to howl and prove his manliness:)

September 13. 2013: Rosemary likes to follow me in the house all day, likes to cuddle. I spent almost all my day with her at home, so when I went to vacation, petsitter's attention was not enough for her and she wet my bed and couch :) When I returned home, she stopped it. I love her regardless. She is such a great cat. Oh, and now she is 10 lbs.

My Darling Mis Tulip passed on June 8 2013, succumbing to a short battle with fatty liver disease. Am so privileged to have had her in my life and we both helped each other on our journey. She was the most beautiful, lively, intelligent, independent yet loving cat. She was about 15.5 years old, a beautiful seal bi-color Ragdoll..

JASMINE
My Funny Valentine~

Cute, petite,and oh so sweet~
Active and funny, with eyes blue and bright~
A tortie delight!

Sweet Jasmine!

Princess Jasmine has gone to her forever home but I just arrived here at the McMeezers. I'm hoping it's a short lay over for me because I WANT my forever home too!

Foster mom tells me that #1 I have to get to feeling better and get rid of this nasty cold. BE GONE NASTY COLD!

#2.. She also told me I'd need to see the vet for a spay party, ummm wonder what that is? I'M READY TO P-A-R-T-Y!

#3. And I have to put some weight.on my bones. I only weigh five pounds and foster mom says I need to pack on some padding before I'll be ready to travel. YUM, YUM! I LOVE ALL FOODS!

More later when I'm feeling better and more photos I promise!

Purrs,
Jasmine

Notes from Home
6 Months! Jasmine has really grown and even has a little belly. She plays fetch better than the two dogs so we are hoping that she will teach them soon but we have little hope for the canines! If we miss a night of throwing around her toys for her to retrieve she is quite perturbed and lets us know. She has definitely adjusted and knows that she rules the house. Her two favorite things are eating (and reminding us that it is time to eat) and getting brushed. Everyone always comments on her markings and she loves to greet company and challenge their balance and dexterity by darting in and out of their feet. This is particularly fun to do to mom and dad when we walk up and down stairs! We can't imagine her not being part of the household and her next vet visit is not for a while but she has been healthy - no eye problems, and is healthy and very active!

Thank you for rescuing her and helping her to be part of our family!

Marie and Eartle
9-11-13

Wow!! Can not believe that it has been a month already :)

She gained 2 pounds during the first 12 days and never looked back! We started her with some dry/wet mix for her meals and she makes sure that you are up to feed her by 5am. She still will only let you hold her when she agrees but she has to be right with you ALL the time. Definitely does not like eye drops. Had to get some for a few days - I think it will be an ongoing problem that we will have to stay on top of. She enjoyed "helping" me paint my office and generally gets into anything that you are near. She drags her toys to bed at night and I wake up with the "feathers" next to me in the morning. What a fun gift lol! Yesterday she helped Eartle replace the mailbox, peaking her head out the opening in the wall while he was trying to work. The puppy will still chase her when given the chance. We try to explain that if she would not run, the puppy will not chase but I do not think it is sinking in :) They have groomed each other and all of the critters are getting along with each other. All of the little people who visit love to play with her which is good because it wears her out. She has also found that batting around bottle tops for 20 minutes will induce a pretty good nap. I will try to get some pics soon but we absolutely made a perfect choice!

CLOE
I know, I know, cats named Precious come around allthe time, but I really AM just like my name, VERY Precious. I am a tiny little thing (only 4 pounds right now), but have a huge heart and purr. Yesterday afternoon, I hopped up on foster mom's lap and then curled up under her chin for a purring, kneading and headfbutting session followed by a nice Sunday afternoon nap. I hear that a "spay" (what's that?) is on my calendar for tomorrow and after that if I get a little bigger, I can go to my forever home. I love people and while I was at the shelter one of the staff carried me all over the building. I was just very interested in all the other cats and even the doggies and purred the whole time. No problems with any of them. I might even be OK with young kids, but time will tell on that one. I'm not a "diva" girl, just a sweet, sweet, precious, laid back girl. If you'd like a new "Precious" kitty in your home, be sure to ask about me. Purrs and lots of headbutts, Precious

Notes from Home
Our little girl had a lot of trials and tribulations over the last 6 months, but she is finally medically stable. After eliminating every other cause it could possibly be, we found out she has food allergies to every prepared cat food out there. As our vet explained, even if you find a novel protein food, you really don't know what's in it because they make multiple food varieties at every manufacturing facility, so they could have run chicken through the same machinery right before they run a novel protein through.

So, what do we feed her? We make her food out of bison and sweet potato. Just chop it all up and put it in a crock pot to cook it to death. Before serving, add vitamins, forti-flora, metamucil, and taurine. Since I am vegan, their food is about the only stew we have around here. Luckily, we found a butcher who owns a dog with food allergies so he gives us a cut rate on the meat.

It's worth it though. She is a sweetheart. She likes to nibble a little on our hands when we pet her and move her head to let us know exactly how she wants to be pet. Occasionally she'll bite a little hard but for the most part they are just love bites.

Yeah, we're smitten. Her and her brother Simon who we adopted at the same time are going nowhere.

SIMON
Hi - my name is Ninja. That name was given to me by my previous family so that I would feel strong and brave. I needed that to help me through being at the shelter. It scared me a little bit, but as soon as soneone held and cuddled me, I was my "Ninja" self.checking out the place and purring up a storm. I am a very handsome snowshoe boy wearing socks on my front feet and shoes on the back. Oh, yes, and I am a bit "fur enhancerd on my back with a nice "fluffy" tail. If you like laid back, easy going Ninjua boys who get along with other cats, you'd better ask about me. Purrs and Headbutts, Ninja

P.S. I give great kitty hugs with my front paws and kitty kisses, too.

Notes from Home
He's a good boy. Getting acclimated and sweeter every day.

It's been about 6 months and all is good with Simon. We've found out that his tail actually gets a little less bushy and fuzzy in the summer, but now that Fall is approaching it's filling out again. That was pretty interesting. Simon is such a cutie. His favorite thing to do is chase his sister and mope if she's getting too much attention. His favorite toy is a laser pointer, but he also really loves his little stuffed mice. Sometimes he'll just tear down the hallway for no reason. It really makes us laugh.

PIPPIN
I have settled in and keep improving each day. I am a very reserved guy and like other kitties. I am comfortable with foster mom and will stretch out and relax on the floor. I'm still afraid when she walks near me and will run hide under something, but she can reach and pet me. I am definitely a project kitty but I can be a pal with time and patience - don't know it I will ever be a lap kitty but if you can settle for a supervisor, then I can do it. I would prefer to go to a home with a kitty so that I will have a friend to play with.

Notes from Home
It's hard to believe it has been a month since Sabrina came home! The initial vet visit found some nasties but they were all cleared up with 2 weeks of medicine (bright yellow liquid, of course!). Sabrina is a extremely playful little girl with a small rebellious streak and a crazy vertical jump that keeps me on my toes. We are still working on integration with my seal point, Vivian, who is not so sure about this new thing I brought home, but there are some promising signs that one day (hopefully soon) they will be friends. Sabrina and I want to thank Kathy and Lisa and the SCRC staff for all their help in getting Sabrina home and the wonderful kit that came with her!

GENTLE BEN
The picture shows it correctly, I am a big and handsome boy! I have a big head to hold that super smart Siamese brain, and a big body to hold my even bigger Siamese heart. I have more love to give than I know what to do with, and will share that love by giving lots of purrs, cuddling in your lap, and even giving you kisses if you'll let me. So now I have one extremely important question for you. Why haven't you asked about me yet? I'm just sitting here waiting to jump into your lap, give you a great purr, look at you with my beautiful blue eyes, and steal a piece of your big heart. Big purrs.
Gentle Ben

Update: Foster Mom has discovered just how much I like to play! I love almost any kind of toy, balls, wand toys, catnip mice, even some of foster Mom's kids' toys are fun. The only toy I refuse to play with is this silly bird she bought that chirps. I mean seriously, did she think I wouldn't know that was a fake bird? Foster Mom says I also need to be an only cat. I just get too stressed by other cats, preferring my people instead. I'm fine with a cat-friendly dog, though. So go ahead, ask about me! You'll be glad you did.

Gentle Ben has been with us for two years now and is a wonderful and exciting addition to our home. He ins playful and friendly with a great sense of humor. Thanks to Nina and all the volunteers and staff of SCRC for helping Ben make this transition to a stable home. A special thanks to Joy (his foster mom in Chicago) who helped us get to know Ben and understand his needs.
