BAXTER
Hi - my name is Baxter and I am one stunning snowshoe. Besides, that I am a "man of steel". If you want to hear my miraculous story, you'd better ask about me so that my foster mom can tell you all about me. I love kids, cats, dogs and any human that walks past me. Hope to be a part of your famioy VERY soon. Purrs and headbutts, Baxter, the wonder cat.

Notes from Home
Hi everyone, thanks for checking in with us regarding Baxter. He is settling in well, so well that we are bringing new sister to be Rumor home today to share the love with him. He is a very good cat, great manners and every day he shows us more affection and more of his personality. He has really bonded with Peter and that is a good thing. Sometimes the guys just have to stick together. We are very happy that we brought him home. Karen 513-582-7263

8-8-13 Update on Baxter. He is settling in well and most of the time you would never know that we have not had him from kittenhood. He is such a funny guy and he makes us laugh every day. Having brought home a sister for him has helped him get off the couch and get busy being a pest boy brother. He is happy to have a friend and can't wait for Cosima to get on board with that.

9.25.13 Update on Baxter: Celebrating 3 months since we brought Baxter home. He is a wonderful cat and so much fun to have in our family. He makes us laugh each and every day , we are so happy we brought him home. We can't wait until we go back to Daylight Savings time when his tummy will be back on schedule with our alarm clock and he won't have to work so hard to wake us up in the morning and tell us it is time for breakfast. He is still waiting on Cosima to decide she wants to be friends but in the meantime he is happy with us, who needs a mean diva girl any way?! Here is a photo of him playing with a shopping bag and I hope it makes you laugh too! Karen & Peter

Even though we started out looking for a chocolate or seal boy we are very happy with our big lug of a snowshoe. He is as cute as can be. Thanks for asking, Karen

Notes from Home
Choo is loving her new home in the city! I often find her perched on the windowsill, watching the people and cars go by. In the evenings she snuggles up next to me on the couch and rests her head in my lap. She really is the sweetest kitty. I'm so lucky to have found her!

JASPURR
Foster mom can pick me up and love all over me. I like that but I run hide at first when she comes in my room. I let her pick me up but I don't come out to her. I watch her and wait for her to come to me. I love cheek scritches and lots of pets. Do you have time to teach me to trust you? I will be worth the effort.

This cat is not suitable for children under the age of 5 (ie 5 and over is OK). This is typically a cat that is shy and a child might scare it, or one that has a potential to bite or play too hardNot with kids under 5
HONEYBOY
My adoption fell through at the very last minute, and now, every person who walks in the door I run up to them, grab them around the neck, snuggle tight, and BEG: PLEASE take me home! (I love men, got any?)

Notes from Home
So excited to have Honeyboy in my home. He is a quiet, affectionate lovable cat. He took immediately to the house and particularly likes sitting on the spiral staircase where he has a view of the house and the outdoors.

It is hard to believe that Honeyboy has been home for 9 months now; you are
right though, the 6 month "honeymoon over" period was spot on.

I just love him, and we have adjusted to each other. We share my bed, I use
it at night, he uses it during the day. I move around to much for him to
sleep with me at night, but he waits by the side of the bed to be sure I get
up at 5 am to get him a treat. If I am not up at 5:30 he does a dive bomb
on me to get me up (he seems to be getting younger because when he first
came to live with me, he had a hard time jumping on the bed as it is fairly
high). He then escorts me to the kitchen for the treat (god forbid I have
to use the bathroom first).

He gets another treat when I get home from work.

He has several toys that he likes to play with, and he does run around the
house periodically like a kitten.

I havn't changed his name, but I frequently refer to him as baby.

PEKOE
A petite gal brought in from a hoarder situation, I'm looking forward to a new home where the food is good, the toys are plenty, and laps abound! I need someone dedicated to working with me at first - carrying me around, loving on me, whispering sweet nothings in my ear, and I'll soak that up. But I'm going to wait for you to come to me, and not me to you at first, so be prepared to do a little work - but you know what they say - those who work hard are so richly rewarded, and guess what, this type of work isn't going to be hard at all, just fun loving!

Notes from Home
Pekoe has been with me a month and is quite settled in. She doesn't tolerate being picked up but likes to be petted on her demand. She sleeps on the extra bed in my room on a stack of pillows and when she wants to be undisturbed she staked out a corner in my closet, so I put her crocheted pad she came with in there. Her appetite is great and I think she has put on a few ounces, I don't have a way to weigh her. She has begun to play with toys a little bit, not too entranced with them tho.
We had a set back when I tried to take her to the well kitty visit to the vet. She freaked when she saw the carrier and it took more than a week to get her trust back and she is still skittish about being stalked, thinking I might make a grab for her. My daughter has come over to get acquainted but Pekoe avoids her (or any guest) but I hope she is getting used to the sound of her voice as she will be feeding her when I visit my son on Thanksgiving. Pekoe comes when I call her and now she comes to the door when She hears me coming in. She talks a lot. CJLocke

LOUIE
Just arrived with my brother George, and need to go home with him. We are quite the pair, outgoing, chatty and full of mischief ! We promise you will not be bored with the two of us around !

Notes from Home
Louie and Beasley are continuing to thrive! They have each had a nice snuggle with Sullivan though I'm still waiting to see all three of them curled up together. They are growing like crazy and at the same time their feet keep getting bigger and bigger. I thought they'd grow into their feet but now I'm thinking if they do eventually grow into them, they'll be huge! They look like lions padding along when they bring us their fuzzy balls or the cat dancer. They quickly learned that toys are more fun with humans involved and Louie doesn't hesitate to let us know they're waiting for us to play. They just had a battle for the top level of the cat tree and so far, Louie is winning with Beasley down one level but going after Louie's tail - not ready to concede this one yet. Today they have another lesson in manis/pedi's followed by treats. Stewart says we also have the first class in tooth brushing today . . . that should be interesting!

TOBY
Hi, it's me Toby. I guess you know by now that Ashley [VA 5506] and I are wishing for a forever home this Holiday Season. I've been ready, and have been patient while Ashley has taken a little more time to adjust to everything. She's required extra time and patience, but is ready now to find her forever home. That's her special request this year! I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful buddy like her, and want to stay with her. If your wish list includes a pair of sweet bonded meezers, please consider us.

We do not travel well, so we'll need a quick trip to FL, GA, or SC only.

Love,
Toby

TALLY
Foster mom says she has very sweet foster cats and I am certainly one of them. Can you believe anyone would want to give me up after nine years. I guess they had a reason but I sure don't agree with it. Of course I have plenty of room to walk around and I have nice soft chairs and beds here. I have been well cared for all my life and I am a healthy happy cat. Are you going to give me a lap to sit on?

CANDY MAN
Well hello there! Suprised by the name change? Well, my big secret was found out today. I'm not a girl after all, I'm a boy! Meowmy took me to be spayed today and the vet said, "This isn't a girl, he's a neutered male". So here I am with a bald belly and butt where they shaved me to be surel

I still am a sweet guy, though, and like all the kitties here, but I sure wish I had my own home. I really am a good boy. I use my litter box all the time, scratch only on the nice scratching post I have here, and love to lap sit and cuddle, though I do like to play too.

Wouldn't you like a boy like me? I'll be relaxing up in the nice cushie bedroom with Peanut until you say you want me. How about e-mailing meowmy and telling her you'd like to hear all about how wonderful I am?

"Candy Man" was re-named "Honey" due to his coloring. He is a happy cat although he does have a couple of health issues. Apparently he was born with an eye twitch that will never go away, and he has a sensitive stomach and requires I/D prescription food. Other than that, he is a very happy boy!

LUCY
Easy going, gentle souled, friendly and kind, I prefer people and laps to commotion and chaos. I'm good in my habits and all around well behaved, I'm not much of a jumper so your counters are safe! I'd love to go home for Christmas please!

Notes from Home
September 18, 2013: Lucy came home with us on January 2, 2010. She had come back into Siamese Rescue after her first person passed away. There was some confusion about what her person had called her – Aurora?? Lucky?? – so my husband and I decided to try different names on the way home to see if our new baby had a reaction to anything in particular, and we got a strong one to the name “Lucy.” So, “Lucy” she became. And because she fussed about travelling for the whole time it took to get home, she became “Lucy Van Crankypants.”

She wasn’t really cranky too often, though she did like to have things a certain way, and set about quickly to train us! She settled in quickly, accepting and being accepted by our two other cats (Belle VA4499) and Jacki (VA4716). We nicknamed her “The Duchess” because she had such a strong sense of who she was and what was due her.

She loved cuddling and sleeping in the sun. She never met a food group she didn’t like: Her motto was that there was no situation that couldn’t be made a bit better by a snack. We loved her for being the very best Lucy there ever was.

And then, in September 2012, we noticed a lump near the base of her spine. One day it wasn’t there, and the next day it was. Visits to the vet confirmed that it was cancer and an aggressive one, which quickly brought her pain. On September 18, 2012, one year ago today, Lucy was helped on her way to the Bridge, peacefully and gently. We miss her, and it still hurts – but the only way to avoid that pain is to never have known and loved Lucy, and that would be far worse!

Thank you, Lucy, for making your home with us. You were with us for far too short a time, but we were blessed to have known you even that long.
