Foster Meowmy says "I'm a character"! OK, so I talk a little each time you stop waving the wand, and will play fetch. I especially like holding the mousie by the tail, it's fun.

All,

Thanks for checking in with us and the girls! Sophi is quite the pistol! Eight yrs old and runs around the house with boundless energy. She has quite enjoyed chasing her new brother, Ching, who still does not quite know what has hit him:))). Sophi and her sister, Tula, continue to be quite the close siblings, though they will strike out on their own and wander the house, but always come back together after a short time.

She has quite the appetite and has very much enjoyed her "wet food" daily treat, along with sister, Tula. Ching does not partake, so more for them!!!

Sophi also has discovered the master bedroom bed and is also quite comfortable with her new sleeping arrangements!! She pushes Tula out of the way, mostly with headbutts, to get to the closest body in bed to snuggle!

I have tried to upload pictures to share but believe the file is too large, so will continue to try so you can see the girls!

Thanks for checking in on Sophi and Tula! Will continue to keep you updated.!

Notes from Home
All,

Thanks for checking in on Tula and Sophi! What a quick month. The girls have been an absolutely joyful addition to our family and they have made themselves quite at home!

Tula continues to be a constant lap cat, perfectly content to find a "knee" as Jo (her foster Momma) would say or any empty lap. She purrs constantly and remains a vigilant big sister to Sophi.

Tula has found the master bedroom to be her favorite night time respite and has placed herself right in the middle of the bed and brings toys with her to bed....)

Tula also enjoys any additional table food that may fall her way....she has a sophisticated palate thanks to Jo!!!!

Thank you for all the support through the adoption process. We are thrilled to be a part of Tula's life!

WATSON
I am one spectacular, loving, awesome cat. Although I look much older, I'm only still a kitten.. but if you look at the size of my paws, I'm going to be a big boy! I'm super healthy, very vocal, very playful, and very excited to leap into your arms for a snuggle.

I had a great home with people who thought I was the bees knees, but I was having some problems with the girl kitty who was adopted with me. I liked her and all, but I would prefer to have you all to myself. Foster Mom says it's OK and that she'll teach me good manners all over again before I go home. She says that I'm a "magazine cover cat" and has already gotten my Halloween costume ready.

I like kids, even little ones, and I'm good with dogs too. I MIGHT be OK with an older cat or another male who won't compete for your love.

PS: I know that I look dark in my photos, but I have big pink paw pads so I'm definitely a chocolate. Except for my points growing in a bit more, I'll never get much darker and my body will stay creamy white.

Firecracker has been home for almost a full week now and he continues to steal his Mama's heart! :-) He has been renamed to Watson, inspired by Dr. Watson from Sherlock and Holmes for his inquisitive, intelligent and refined nature. He is such a lovebug and enjoys being held often. He plays a lot with his talking ball and feather toy - from his foster Mama Jamie - and just loves to race around the apartment! He seems to be settling in very nicely and I couldn't be happier having him with me! Thank you to everyone at the Siamese Rescue Center for your help throughout this process. I've attached some pictures since he's been home and will update with more as time goes on. :-)

CHARLETON
Charleton is such a formal name for a little guy like me. Foster Mom just calls me Charlie. Now that I've gotten settled in and getting to know my surroundings, I'm showing everybody that the little stuff here is feisty. I like to flirt with Mom when she comes into the room and roll around and play, but when I catch sight of the bigger boys, I give a little growl to let them know who is boss. I liked the kitties that the good samaritan who rescued me had, but Mom won't let me play with the others here just yet. It won't be long, though. Check out my other pictures.

Purrs,
Charlie

JAXYN
Just got here and got my bath - wasn't too thrilled with the shower head but the water in the cup was super interesting and I kept trying to stick my head in there and check it out. I purred the whole time I was being dried. I come with some extras too - toes that is! Yup got some extra on my front feet - I think that balances me out since my tail is short!

Notes from Home
Jaxyn continues to be "our darling boy", but like any child or pet he is sometimes unpredictable and not easy to understand. Sometimes he is loving and purring and sometimes he just wants to be left alone and lets you know that in no uncertain terms. He will still occasionally bite at us when we try to remove him from someplace he wants to be. He seems to know our every move and anticipates them by running to the room he thinks we're going to (and he's usually right ), He sleeps with us and headbutts us very early in the morning when he wants his breakfast. This is one smart cat.

We're still so happy to have Jax and can't imagine life without him

10/19/13 Jaxyn has a new brother. Our grandson could not keep his 7 year old cat because of allergy problems in the household. Crespo came to live with us 4 weeks ago and thought he was going to be the Alpha cat. This did not go over well with Jaxyn since he has been ruling the roost since he got here in May. Time has taken care of the problems and now they are true brothers, playing sometimes, fighting sometimes. The fighting is more play than fight. As soon as I learn how to get pictures from my phone to Jaxyn's webpage I will send pictures.

Notes from Home
Hello ,
It's nice to hear from you at Purrcy's one month anniversary. It's been an excited and adapting month for us. We started to learn how to relate to each other, to read the signs, to enjoy fun times and to work at what needs to be changed in unaccepted behavior like hard bitting and scratching. Purrcy is still a ball of energy, likes to play and be around us. We figure it will take time to hopefully see him change as far as him liking to be petted and held. He doesn't care to cuddle or lay really close to us at this point. He is eating really well and gain 2 lbs.
We are enjoying his playful nature and we look forward to growing closer to each other in the future. We will continue to take really good care of him and to try to make him feel loved and safe in our home.

Our best regards,
Ruxandra and Ruben

EMILY
Hi there, I'm Emily and I have been at my Foster Dads for two + months now. Foster Pops saved my sister Bianca (Va7013) and I from a small cage at the Vets, after our mommy died, and they sold our house. We are living in foster Pop's daughters bedroom (she moved to Massachusetts) so we could use her bed. I can roam the house and play with foster pop's kitties. Did I tell you that I have been to the dentist and have no cavities. Aunt Siri says that if we can find someone who will take both my sister and I that there will only be a single adoption fee.

"Emily, my Siamese Cat" - Update

How do you begin to describe a best friend?

Begin with the single word "Emily".

Emily is a very special friend, in many ways. I laughed when reviewing her Siamese Cat Rescue Center notes & I learned lots.

First, Emily is ageless! Upon intake, she was noted as 16 years old and having recalculated her age today, she is still 16 years old. Lucky Emily. No need to worry about wrinkles, other than her wrinkled bedding.

Emily also remains true to form in her vocal dislike of travel, despite her enjoyment of the place she ultimately arrives. Emily makes the 4 hour drive to my 2nd home in upstate NY from CT, with never ceasing meows of her displeasure in the travel crate. Once we arrive and the cage door opens inside the house, Emily is as happy as a Siamese kitty can be. With 4 bedrooms and plenty of space, Emily owns the house & has many favorite sleeping spots. Her morning exercise includes dashing up and down the stairs, tearing around the house at a speed challenging that of Secretariat and then settling down for a long nap or 2 or 3 in spots fit for the Queen she is. Emily is my companion and smile provider.

The notes also reference Emily's dislike of being picked up and hugged. I must admit, that as a hugger, I do pick Emily up and bestow hugs & kisses. Emily allows this for a minute, then she is ready to move on.

Since the death of her buddy, Bianca, a year ago, Emily has become the speaker extraordinaire - talk, talk, talk! I have heard sounds and communications from Emily that are extraordinary. Her meows combined with those big, expressive eyes are the best non-verbal communications one could imagine. She says lots-I only wish my linguistics included Siamese.

When Bianca was about and ruled the roost, Emily was much, much quieter and allowed Bianca to take center stage. Now Emily proudly and confidently "owns" all stages upon which she walks.

Yes, Emily is reserved & certainly the proper lady, as described. But more than anything, she is my friend & holds a big space in my heart.

My Thanksgiving is everyday and includes the thankfulness that Emily is apart of my life.

Special thanks go to Peter Kuck, who is always ready to help and advise on any question. He is my cat mentor and friend to both Emily and me. Peter goes above and beyond all expectations of a friend and fellow Siamese cat advocate. Just knowing he is at one's side is comforting.

Thankful Blessings are sent to each and everyone from Emily and myself.

Emily & Nancy Nordheim

UMI
Just a sweet, little southern gal who likes to play hard to get. Batting my gorgeous blues to tease.

Notes from Home
Umi has settled in nicely, and, of course, rules the roost! She hides from no one and nothing (unless it has a really loud motor....) We only have two issues....she is still using teeth and claws when playing, though less, (and that includes chewing on furniture), and she's gotten just a bit chunky. The latter is our fault - too many snacks! We're cutting back on the treats. She is capable of a yowl, but mostly confines her vocalization to more of a tolerable meow. As soon as she stops playing with my toes under the covers, she'll be allowed into the bedroom - but not before, LOL! She really enjoys looking out the opened window (still with screen...) at the world of squirrels, chipmunks and birds outside.

Thank you for all you've done for us!

FOZZIE BEAR
Sweet, chirping, curious and playful, I'm good with other cats and great with people. I just moved to the VA Center, I was taken aback for all of 4 hours and then I was out and about with the other cats and doing great. (Hey, that Tashelle is a cutey pie!) If you're looking for a friendly interactive cat with other cats, no politics, check out my new video(s)!

Notes from Home
Fozzie Bear is such a sweet boy with so much character and personality. He's been doing great in the overall adjustment, tolerating his temporary space in the bathroom so he can have freedom to explore other times while I'm home and the 2 older girls are in the bedroom. I don't know who's more anxious for the whole integration process to be done, him or me! But we're taking it slowly, as he's choosing his favorite hiding spots when he feels the need (behind and under the couch, and under the middle of the waterbed when in the bedroom), and is getting to know his new home well before the face to face introductions in a few days. He has such a sweet, sparkling personality, as Siri stated in his videos, certainly “a gem of a cat”. :) He talks to me in his high-pitched little meows and chirps along with his talking, does lots of rolling over to show his belly, and completely enjoys the Millie bed with his incessant kneading and purring. He definitely is quite the explorer, and enjoys watching the birds on the feeders out on the wired-in patio, as well as the sights below of squirrels, birds and chipmunks in the yard and bushes and woods beyond. He seems to like watching some tv as well, although when it's first turned on, he often has to hide under the couch for a minute or two even though the volume is down low! He's definitely a more sensitive boy, as his first couple of days he often was startled easily from sounds of downstairs or next door neighbors bumping around or the sound of a car or truck pulling in or starting up. He has relaxed some at times with those kinds of things, or he hides under the couch, or in the cabinet below the sink if he's in the bathroom – he has no problem opening those cabinet doors! :)

It's definitely a process, this adjusting to a new life and home, and such a joy for me watching him blossom more and more each day! And boy would he love to help me type this here on the computer! Lol

I already feel so fortunate to have him in my life as he is such a sweetheart! ♥

10/19/11

Fozzie got to meet the vet today and boy was she impressed with him, how beautiful and healthy he is! He did great there, and everyone there just loved him! He behaved beautifully there, only giving the tail flip with that big, floofy tail when she was looking in his ears. He didn't do any of his talking or chirping for them, but he's making up for it tonight. So tonight he's gotten to meet Annie, my 14 year old, as she was sleeping in her Millie bed on the cat tree and eyed him from up there initially, then let him have some hisses and growling later. I know he'd love for her to be friends with him and play, as he kept trying to follow her and chirp at her from behind until she turned to hiss. He hasn't met Jenny yet, my 13 year old, but will most likely get the same reception from her initially too. Later on they'll tolerate him for the most part but will still have random hisses for him I'm sure. But he hasn't hidden at all after meeting Annie, so unless her reactions escalate, he may not feel the need to hide, which is a relief to me - I've been so nervous about them meeting face to face! That's why I'm just letting him meet one at a time, as I would hate for him to feel ganged up on by both. He's SO cute - he's trying now to talk and chirp at Annie in the kitchen and I'm hearing her hisses.

What a character he is! And such a love! :)

10/24/11

Well, Fozzie is now "integrated" with my 2 girls and doing great with it. Can't say that so much for my girls, but he's adapted just fine. I know he would love to be friends with them, and I wish that would happen on their parts, but most likely that won't happen. Their hissy attitudes are definitely there, but I'm seeing little signs that a tolerance level is slowly coming about. The hissing isn't constant now like it was a few days ago - he can walk past them and sometimes not get hissed at, which is a good sign! Maybe another meezer furbaby youngster like him at some point, so he does have someone to bond with and play with. He absolutely loves the patio and watching the birds on the feeders! And he does seem to like a bit of cat grass now and then, not as much as my Annie likes it, but definitely likes it a little bit. He's doing lots of talking and chirping, especially first thing in the morning and in the evening when he's restless and the most playful. After what I've been through in the past year and then some, having shingles that have been relentless, then losing 3 cats within a year, he is such a wonderful ray of sunshine!!! Such a precious addition to my little family! :)

10/27/11

Fozzie is doing great - racing around tonight, the first I've seen of this solo playing and high energy racing around. Yesterday he jumped up onto the chicken wire on the patio, thinking he might catch the blue jay hanging on the other side while getting seeds from the feeder...... reinforcements and Fozzie-proofing to the chicken wire were completed last night. :) And, this morning, I watched as he stalked and then jumped onto Jenny's back in a rambunctious play mode, but what an explosion from her! I think he just can't help himself, but he seems to have chosen her to take an interest in despite her snarly, growly and hissy commentary at the sight or sound of him. Annie has been hissy as well, but seems to be adjusting much easier than Jenny, quite the opposite as expected.

Fozzie is such a joy to be with, with his sweet chirps and little meows and the way he interacts very intensely sometimes with me - I have missed that strong Siamese attachment and interaction so much since losing my Leia back in March! And it's such a joy to watch daily as his personality, charm and energy levels blossom right in front of me, as well as watching those random cute antics that he displays! Definite major cuteness and charm factors in this beautiful boy! :)

November 2, 2011: Here we are, with no power, thanks to freak winter storm Alfred......been without power since Saturday afternoon, and my 2 girls are definitely feeling the cold in the apartment at just 47 degrees this morning! But Fozzie, just bouncing around like usual, lots of chirping and talking, which I've figured out sometimes means he really needs playing, interactive playing from me that is. He loves the laser light, and it's even more fun when there's just candlelight! And he's taken a huge liking to the wand toy that has leather strips on the end, which was a huge favorite of my blue point Leia's, even at 15 before I lost her she would still always give in to those leather strips. :) Fozzie has also become a sweet little snuggler at times on these very cold nights with no heat. Annie and Jenny are still at odds with his presence, but it all depends on the day and the moment. Fozzie has become a bit of an imp and instigator, sometimes stalking and pouncing at one of them despite the negative reaction he gets - I think he just can't help himself! He also insists on still wanting to go out on the patio despite the cold temperatures, so he gets his way for very brief sessions. :) When we get power back, he'll get a little more time out there again. We're all looking forward to things being "normal" again, but making do just fine, and Fozzie definitely presents a huge bright spot during this ordeal! :)

November 22, 2011: We made it through 6 days/nights of no power from that crazy late October snowstorm, and Fozzie did just fine with the cold indoor temps - of course, that tail of his provides lots of warmth coverage for the nose and face I'm sure! His antics are quite amusing - how else can one look at these cute behaviors? Many weeks ago, I tried to salvage my catnip plant out on the patio by putting some of it in a glass of water. That glass sat on the kitchen counter for 2 to 3 weeks, no problem. Then, one morning a few weeks ago, I noticed just the stem with a couple of tiny leaves, only an inch or so above the rim of the glass........that morning, I had gotten up briefly around 4 a.m., and Fozzie was bright and cheery, assuming I was up to play with him - little did I know at that point why he was so bright and bouncy! And I have yet to get a photo of him doing this, but will catch a photo op at some point of him leaping up onto the chicken wire out on the patio when he sees birds on the feeder on the other side of the wire! Needless to say, the birds fly away and Fozzie hangs there for a few seconds, about 3 1/2 to 4 feet up on the wire - quite a picture! :) And, ever since the week of no power, when we played by candlelight every evening to pass the time, he expects playtime every time I sit in the living room now, and emphatically lets me know by standing up against me with very no-nonsense little cries directly at me. I have thoughts of another young meezer maybe in the spring from SCRC, and I think Fozzie definitely needs a playmate!! Every day brings more antics and adventures with him, and I'm loving all of it! :)

December 25, 2011:

Merry Christmas from Fozzie! His first Christmas in my little feline family! He has his own stocking, and got a few new toys from "Santa" (like he doesn't have enough already!) He's doing great, and constantly entertains with his little antics. I posted this yesterday on Facebook but just had to include it here:

"Okay, so the latest Fozzie adventure....... this afternoon he brought a live bird in through the cat door from the patio! A cute little junco, dark gray and white, I got him to let go, it flew around the living room then out the slider that I opened wide, then lots of fluttering back and forth in the patio until it found its way out around the end of the chicken wire. I know he was so proud of himself, bringing it inside like that! He didn't seem to hurt it overall, so I'm sure it's fine now. Definitely need to work on that chicken wire setup I have on the patio - poor thing, got inside the patio and had to meet up with Fozzie's jaws! Glad it all ended okay for the bird. :) "

He certainly keeps things interesting around here! Today I wasn't feeling well, and was laying on the couch for awhile. My Jenny was curled up near me the whole time, and Fozzie appeared, got on me and laid on me, purring and with his head down and towards the back of the couch for about 10 minutes. Usually if he lays with me, it's brief and he's up and about again in a minute or two but this was different - - I think he was trying to help me feel better! It was so sweet - he is truly such a treasure!!! ♥

February 16, 2012:

All is great with Fozzie! Always a new day for new antics with him! No, he hasn't caught any more birds since December, but the birds aren't nearly as plentiful at the feeders as before - I think that little one he caught that got away must have spread the word about the fluffy attack cat here! Since he loves the patio so much, regardless of temperatures, his color has darkened quite a bit, with a lot more color on his back and torso than before, and his little "goatee" marking is no longer a lighter tan but is dark now. Back in December, he was getting very pushy with my 13 y.o., Jenny, and she was getting so very stressed over it! He knows he wants to have other cats play with him but wasn't respecting her boundaries, so we've done the Feliway diffuser and spray, and increased the variety of fun toys and playtimes with him, and things have definitely calmed down quite a bit between them - Jenny's front paws finally have her white fur grown back on them as she was pulling her hair out back them because of her stress and anxiety over it, so no more pink skin and moth-eaten look to her paws like they were! It's been 4 months now with Fozzie's awesome presence here and he definitely has become quite the sweetheart at times, and I know him so much better now, so I know when he gets too wired or overstimulated now and can often prevent "fresh" behavior by putting him down or getting one of his toys to take his energy out on - the best toys for that time are the big soft toys great for grabbing and biting and kicking! And Fozzie's latest great interest is the stainless steel water fountain I got for them around Christmas time - he will just sit and stare into it for quite awhile, often laying down with his nose within an inch or two from the surface of the water in the bowl. The newest trick is adding ice cubes to the water - he now comes running when he hears me open the freezer door and wants more ice cubes added! He is such a character!! And such a wonderful addition to my home and my life!!! ♥♥♥

October 17, 2013:

Okay, it's been quite awhile since updating......October 9th was already 2 years since my Fozzie became such a huge part of my life, since he adopted me. :) He's doing great, still giving my 2 girls something to think about (and occasionally hiss about!). Back in February, we had a blizzard here in CT, and he was so thrilled to add many of his precious pawprints all over my snow dusted patio before it was even light out that morning....all Fozzie prints, no help from the girls there! He is such a character, and adds so much to my life on a daily basis - that precious face that gets in mine when I'm in bed in the morning, and while I'm sitting here at the computer he has to keep reminding me he's here and wants to play with the red light!
As I'm getting ready to help with the Meezer Express this weekend, first in quite awhile, it brings back such special memories of driving to meet up to get my Fozzie that Sunday evening 2 years ago. One of these days, Fozzie will get a special little brother or sister from SCRC, when the time is right and our feline family has dwindled down - not looking forward to my Annie or Jenny leaving me, but at 15 and 16, every day is a blessing with both of them. I keep telling him this time will come and he'll have a bouncy playmate who hopefully won't hiss at him, so probably not too much of a little diva, but a sweet and playful meezer girl (or boy) would most certainly make him the happiest! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing him interact that way!!
I am so blessed to have him in my life, and am always so thankful to SCRC and Siri, Kay and Jeanne for the loving care that nourished him before my turn came! ♥

How about giving me a try? That's right, try me out and you might just like me. I'm available on a trial basis for the right family.

What do I need? Special diet, I'll bring some with me. Daily pred pill, I'll bring that with me. Love, you need to provide that.

Give me a shout, and I'll give you a purr.

Notes from Home
October 14, 2013
My little boy is still too good to be true.
He has made some amazing firsts since I got him. He used to hide when anyone came until he got used to my family. Now, whenever ANYONE comes, he is right there to greet them.
He now loves to watch nature shows on TV. His favorite is Cat Diaries on Saturday mornings. His eyes are glued to the TV. He will go up close to see better.
I am so thankful to the adoption center for allowing me to be Bailey's mom.

Bailey is such a good cat. He does not have any "bad" habits. He is so layed back and easy going. When you look at him, down close to his face, he puts his paw on your cheek or nose. Every morning around 5:00 he comes to me in bed and keeps pawing my nose, gently. This is because he wants to be fed. I just love him. He is too good to be true.

November 13, 2011: I love Bailey's Vet. He is a little eccentric but nice. You can tell he likes cats. He has a cat that roams freely throughout the office. Bailey completely ignored him!!! We are playing a game of chasing. I will chase him to the bedroom and then when I turn and run back to the living room he chases me. He loves it.

December 2: My daughter has a new kitten and the first few times she brought him over, Bailey hissed and growled. He did this several times and we were afraid he might hurt Toby. Last weekend she brought Toby over and we were not really paying attention to them and then they came running into the living room. They were playing together!! Chasing each other and wrestling. Bailey is very mild toward Toby now and it is Toby who wants to jump on Bailey and bite but Bailey is very patient with him. They are so cute together. Bailey is the mature one who patiently puts up with the shananigans of a lively kitten.
January 9, 2012-Bailey and I still have a very special relationship. He is the best cat I have ever been around. He is such a loving little guy and so well behaved.
My son and family stayed here for a week the week before Christmas. There were a total of 4 kids here every day and 2 stayed the night. Bailey finally warmed up to everyone after the 2nd day. My 6 yr. old grandson is very hyper and rambuctious and I was worried about Bailey's reaction to him. Bailey seemed to love that little boy! He also warmed up to all the grandkids, letting them pet him and he even slept with my 10 yr.old granddaughter. He is such a joy.

Just sent some update photos of Bailey. He is still my baby. Love him so much. He is so smart and funny.
He loves my daughter. When she comes in, he goes to her and meows knowing she will pick him up and put him on her lap and pet the heck out of him. He loves it!
I am so glad I adopted him. I don't know what life would be without him.

I have had the privilege of being Bailey's forever Mommy now, for a year. He certainly is a big part of our family. Everyone loves him. His personality is great! There is just sweetness and love in this little guy. Thanks to the VA Rescue Center I have my forever cat.
