TAO
I'm Hemingway, and I just arrived with my brother Dexter. Foster mom says we are really cool cats. We have all the great things you want in meezers - we're talkative, we're purrative, we're sleek and wedgie-ish, we're playful, we're cross-eyed, and if you look close at our toes, we're both POLYDACTYL! I have 6 toes on each front foot, and the usual 4 on each back foot. So we sort of have 'opposible thumbs', and fostermom is hoping we'll learn how to open our own cans of cat food. Could be! Did I mention that we're really really smart? We'll be ready to go home in a couple weeks. Ask about us!

Notes from Home
Tao is doing very well since coming home with his brother Ming. He is eating well and using his litterbox. At his visit to the vet he weighed in at 9 pounds....a whole pound heavier than his brother! Tao is very cautious and lets his brother take charge, but watches him closely and will usually follow what he does. If Tao is playing with a toy and Ming comes along and goes after it, Tao will back off and let Ming play with it, so I'm trying to engage Tao more, but this may be his personality and may not change....time will tell. He is a very sweet boy and loves his brother. I just love his crossed eyes! He is a bit skittish and doesn't enjoy being held as much as his brother, but I still make a constant effort. They both love to be near me and always end up sleeping with me. Very seldom will you see one without the other very close by. In just a weeks time I've already noticed they have gotten bigger and their coloring is getting a bit darker. I just love and adore these boys. Each day is a new adventure with them.

Nov.4,2012

It's been a little over a month now since Tao and his brother Ming came to their forever home. It just seems like they've always been here.

Tao is making a tremendous improvement. He was always very cautious and skittish and would run and hide and didn't like to be touched. Now when we enter the room he doesn't run and hide anymore. He seems much more comfortable and is settling in nicely. I'm so pleased to see such a wonderful change in him. I wasn't sure if it was just his personality or if he just needed more time to get familiar with us and his new environment. He now enjoys me petting him and will now purr when he's being petted. He still is not quite comfortable with being picked up...he will tuck his head down into my arm, but he's purring the whole time, so that's a huge improvement....then he wants to get down. He even lets me rub his belly now, so I'm a very happy camper to see him so much more comfortable. He's letting me engage him a lot more in playing and doesn't run away if Ming tries to take over. He's turning out to be such a wonderful kitty....I knew he had it in him, he just needed some extra time, patience and attention and it sure has paid off.

When I'm sitting on the couch, Tao will jump up and cuddle right next to me....or when I'm sleeping, he will jump up on the bed and will either sleep right next to me or on my feet or even on my pillow above my head! This also is a huge improvement for him.

He loves playing with his brother Ming. They will run up and down the halls....sounds like a herd of elephants. They'll stalk and pounce on each other and wrestle like boys do.

When it's time to fill their bowls, they swarm around my feet like sharks ready for the kill...you would think they never ate before! Taking the food bowls over to where they eat is a challenge as they walk right in front of me side by side...it really is so cute to see....it's as if they have become one with the other. I need to try and get a picture of this but it's hard when I'm carrying two bowls and trying not to trip over them in the process.

Hurricane Sandy did not impress either cat. They loved watching the swirling leaves and debris blowing around in the wind, but the noise of it all didn't even bother them. As long as I kept their bellies full and they were nice and warm, life was still good!

MING
I'm Dexter, and I just arrived with my brother Hemingway. Foster mom named us for Ernest Hemingway and Captain Stanley Dexter. You do the google :-) We have all the great things you want in meezers - we're talkative, we're purrative, we're sleek and wedgie-ish, we're playful, we're cross-eyed, and if you look close at our toes, we're both POLYDACTYL! Hemingway has 6 toes on each front foot, and the usual 4 on each back foot, but take a look at me!! I have 7 toes on each front foot and 5 toes on each back foot. Mom says I have paddy-pancake-feet and she giggles when I run to her. Anyway, she says it's really rare to come across a meezer like me, and that someone is going to love me almost as much as she does. Hem and I will be ready to go home in a couple weeks. Ask about us!
Notes from Home
Ming has made an amazing adjustment to his new home. He's been here for a whole week now and acts like he's been here forever. He is such a sweet lovable kitty who has endless energy. He is a purring machine when he's held and loves to sleep right on me. I'll cradle him in my arms like a baby and he just looks at me with those baby blues and purrs away, but then it's time to get down and explore again. He's eating well and using the litterbox with no issues. At his vet visit he weighed in at 8 pounds and his vet recommended going off the kitten food. He gets along wonderfully with his brother Tao. When one cries out, the other is right there to see what's going on - they are so cute together and have a language all their own when they "talk" to each other. These boys have made such a wonderful addition to my household and I already can't imagine my life without them!

Nov.4,2012

Well, Ming has been here now for a little over a month. I can't believe how time is flying. He caught his first fly and promptly proceeded to eat it! I guess I don't need fly swatters anymore now that I have a fly eating kitty. Ming and his brother Tao got to experience Hurricane Sandy first hand this week. They would stand at the sliding glass doors and watch with excitement as the leaves and debris were swirling all around in the wind. All the noise of the wind and rain from the Hurricane didn't seem to faze either of them at all.

When I'm on the computer, Ming will jump up on the table and sit right on the keyboard and stay there as if to say I'm not moving till you shut this thing off and pay attention to me. He follows me everywhere I go. I can't even go to the bathroom alone or take a shower without his little face peeking behind the shower curtain....so cute!

So far they pretty much leave the furniture alone and mainly scratch their nails on their kitty condo...thank-you boys for that! I hope that continues, since all my previous cats have been furniture scratchers, so this is a nice change.

I leave the bedroom door open when I go to sleep and I always wake up with one or both of them curled up either next to me or right on me.

These two guys are so much fun. They love playing with all their toys and their two kitty condos. Of course they also love running after each other and wrestling, stalking and pouncing on one another. They love tummy rubs and are real purring machines.

Life is good!

SNICKERS
Look at me can you believe I came to visit and they stick me in the bathtub, get me wet, and put shampoo on me? If they treat all of their guests like this then it must be a very quiet home. I hope when I am dry they get some better pictures of me. I am really a little cutie.

Foster mom got some better pictures of me. At least I have dry fur. I am such a s good little boy and love to be picked up and held. I know foster mom says she hopes I stay this way. Why wouldn't I? Life is good and I am enjoying myself.

MEI SIR
I'm a big hunk of a cross-eyed guy. And very dark and handsome. I've lived with Mei Du almost my whole life and do want to stay with him. I'm just getting over my life being turn up-side down and do want to try out that forever home I'm hearing about.
Notes from Home
We have renamed MeiSir to MaiTai. He is a huge loveable hunk, who is mellow and playful. If we don't play often enough, he pounces on his buddy Tequila, until they run the stairs and the upper floor 3-4 times. It's carpeted and they can get a good grip to play. Otherwise known in our house as roller derby, since that's what it sounds like when they start up in the middle of the night. We are all well and happy, a couple of photos included. They were both stretched out to the MAX in front of the fireplace last night, but I didn't want to disturb them with a camera.

MaiTai and Tequila are awesome. Because he is so active, Maitai has lost all his extra weight. He turns out to have a very outgoing personality including following us around like a dog. He is busy most of the day either chirping at the birds or standing between me and my computer for attention.

Tequila remains more reserved, but every day he gets less anxious and more affectionate. He would probably loose his extra weight faster if he didn't love his special blanket and chair in our bedroom. He has "cat napping" down to a science.

I included a photo of my cat friendly garden in the solarium. Maitai kept chewing on the houseplants, so with the help of the local greenhouse, we created 2 indoor "gardens" This one also screens their cat box, and they love to hide behind the bushes when doing their business.

It will be fun to see how they react to all the fresh air when it gets warm enough to eat on our screen porch. We feel blessed to have them and everyone couldn't be doing any better.

November 2012: The boys just finished annual vet check and both are doing great. They are beautiful and well behaved. As you can see by the photos, they totally dominate the house and have established funny routines in sinc with ours. As we renamed them Maitai and Tequila, all our friends just refer to them as " the cocktails"

Simba has become quite comfortable in his new home. He and his sister Aggie have started playing together as of today. He is such a lover and a big part of our family.

I've attached a picture of Aggie as well, which was taken on a day that she wasn't too sure about the new guy.

Happy Meowloween!

IDALIA
Hello...Tilly here. I just arrived here with my foster mom & I'm kinda liking the service around here. I have a little crush on my litter mate Gizmo & I think he likes me too. We play together & have a great time. I have not kissed him yet, as a gal does have rules...no kissing on the first date, but we cuddled together all night long.

I'm very sweet & will purr if you look at me & talk sweet to me. I can't wait to find my forever family & I sure hope you have room for Gizmo too!

Purrs,
Tilly

Notes from Home
Idalia is a BIG trouble maker! There are a few doors we keep closed to keep her and her brother out of, but the minute she hears the door open, she is suddenly nearby trying to make it into the places we do not want her to be.

We have a pet mouse, and she really enjoys laying on the table we keep the mouse on and is content to just watch it do its mousey thing, and occasionally they sniff each other.

We have a dragonfly wand toy that she absolutely detests, or loves, we're not sure. She turns into a gymnast to get to it. She also enjoys chasing her brother, squishy balls, and climbing to the top of the cat climber in the most difficult way possible,

Idalia also enjoys being where we are, and she sets acceptable times to cuddle. We have various comfy sleeping locations, but she will choose odd locations and complicated positions to relax in as long as it near us. Despite being a tiny little kitten, she takes up as much as room as possible on our bed when it becomes bed time. In fact, if she can manage to sleep on one of us, the better.

KELLEN
Am I not the most handsome boy you have laid your eyes on? Not only am I handsome, but I'm sweet! I'm especially sweet with my litter mate Tilly...I love playing with her. Do you have room for two? If so....don't hesitate to ask about me!

Gotta go.....lots to do around here....

Notes from Home
Kellen is a big warm, fuzzy ball of love. He enjoys playing with the wand toy, so long as he doesn't have to jump TOO much to get it. He is a big fan of the cat climber I built him.

Kellen also likes to make sure he is fed by 7AM every morning, even weekends. He doesn't appreciate our desire to sleep in and plays with our feet until his point is made.

He likes to be where we are. If we are working at our desks, he is on the desk, usually in the way...

He enjoys having his belly rubbed and only cries if we don't make up his dinner fast enough. He's gotten bigger than Idalia and isn't quite yet aware that he is stronger than her when playing.

MISTY
I am about 2 and a beautiful blue.....

There I was - abandoned without any money for food or shelter and scared. SCRC to the rescue. After 2 weeks with foster Mom I am learning to rely on and trust people again.

I chat with her in a soft chirpy voice and cuddle with her during naps/sleepovers. I love to be petted and brushed. I am starting to explore the house and play with toys. I am a good eater and have perfect litter box habits.

Loving people who let me get comfortable at my own pace will be rewarded with a devoted companion.

Misty

UPDATE FROM FOSTER MOM:

Misty is a wonderful cat - smart, beautiful, pleasantly chatty, playful with toys. She cuddles, purrs and kneads her paws in delight when petted. She will snuggle right up next to you if you like a sleep or nap companion.

She is looking for her special people and would be happiest and most comfortable as a one and only. She likes my 55 pound dog, who is indifferent to cats.

Notes from Home
Misty has been with us 1 week. She is taking over the house quite appropriately. Talking vociferously. She eats well and uses the litter box flawlessly. Next challenge is getting her into her carrier for trip to the vet this Friday.

Notes from Home
DiNozzo is doing well. We are having some issues where we like to run in front of our people and knock them over...so the humans just have to be aware of where the 14 pound cat is.

We are learning about having our nails trimmed. We don't like our paws played with all that much but if we are napping next to our human, we tend not to pay attention to what is going on once asleep.

I have a baby sister now and I like to photo bomb (attack) her when she is not paying attention. But she doesn't put up with my overbearing and she puts up a fuss and swats at me when I'm a bully.

All in all, we are doing well. I am still a snuggler and love to sleep with my humans.

COLEMAN
Hi - my name is Coleman. My brother, Peyton, and I are so happy to be in rescue and safe. I am just a big lover boy who will headbutt you at every opportunity. I have a bit of a "fever coat" right now because I got pretty sick while I was in the shelter and had a high temp. My face should be all dark again, I hope, before I go to my foever home. I am doing very well in rescue and love having all the food I can eat. I am still a bit underweight, but the way I'm eating, foster mom says I'll be up to a good weight in no time. I know my name and come running when you call me. If you would like two great boys, Peyton and I could sure go home together and that would make us happy, but we could also go home by ourselves. I am a survivor and really deserve a second chance at life. Purrs, headbutts and love to you - please ask about me, Coleman

Notes from Home
Coleman (yes, he liked that name so we kept it!) is happy and healthy and we love him dearly!! He lives with two female dogs: one is a playful and "pushy" corgi and the other is an older mixed breed who is tolerant of these youngsters.

Coleman loves to be cuddled and usually sleeps on a shoulder or stretched alngside me. If you are in a recliner, he likes to get under your chin to sleep. He is quite insistent about having regular conversations - especially at mealtimes! I have an automatiic feeder and Coleman is diligent about announcing it is time for the food to appear. He is a great"mouser" and has been known to leave small remnants of critters he has caught and dealt with.

What can I say other than I love this cat!! He is beautiful, smart, and loving. I could not have asked for a better match...he has a FOREVER home with me! You cannot have him back!!
