Wow, six months has come and gone by so quickly! Both Lila and Poe are doing really well. You were right about taking them both, to help Poe with his fear. Lila has been great for him. They still have their bouts of the crazies when it gets dark at night, but both have settled in quite well to the family routine. When they start to run upstairs, they are louder than our girls have ever been. The "joy of life" thing is a wonderful thing to watch and brings us much enjoyment. Lila and Poe make a great pair.

Poe, by my estimate, is almost a ten pounder but has become quite a big boy. Maybe a little overweight but structurally, is much bigger than Lila. He is a tall, full bodied boy and almost solid muscle. His coloring has changed significantly. He has become very dark, more seal point than chocolate although his legs and feet have remained lighter than the rest. What is left of his striping has become that of gorgeous swirls and flourishes on the back of his head and shoulders. He has a stunningly dark face with those beautiful blue eyes. Kathi knows that I am a seal lover at heart which makes him just perfect for me.

Poe has become quite a mommies boy. Most of the time he will come to me when he is called to get scratched and rubbed. He loves have the top of his head scratched. I can get him to the point where he will fall over and go limp but then he catches himself a tenses up a bit. We are a work in progress with him loosening up a little more every week. My barometer of his progress is his tail. He will come into the kitchen to see me with his tail straight up and when I speak to him, the tail goes straight up. When the house is quite, and Toby is not around, Poe will come to me for loving. This is especially true at night when he will get into the bed with me and lie down between the pillows. This is normally Winnie's place at night, but if it is vacant and there is no Toby, Poe will jump in.

True to Christine's description, Poe is a sweet hearted, gentle soul. He dearly loves all cats, inside and outside ones. He bumps Kissie and Winnie frequently but his true love is Lila. Those bumps and nips usually set off the Kentucky Derby of cats. It is funny to see Lila sleeping peacefully in Toby's doggie bed and Poe walking over and flopping on top of her. He usually spends some time washing her in a vice like grip, but then it is off to the races.

As far as habits are concerned, Poe likes to go up on the table or kitchen counters. Discipline is much milder with him because we don't want to scare him and he does get the message quickly. He does pick at the screen door but is not a climber. I am fairly certain the we will be adding another screen between the glass door and the frame for two reasons.... It will keep Lila from climbing the screen door itself but will also add some distance between them and the outside kitties. All the outside cats love to spend time with Poe. Feral Mini cat frequently brings her toy mousies and moles to the screen door for Poe, only they are not toys in a store bought sense.

Poe remains quite a chirper. He chirps at everyone even Toby. He only meows when he has something to say but that is not very often. He too loves to sit at the screen door and watch the buggies and birdies. Every morning I put seed into their outside entertainment center which gives Lila and Poe many hours of entertainment.

All in all, both Poe and Lila are very happy and content kitties. Food, shelter and all the love and attention that they could want. We are all blessed to give them the lives that they both deserve and they reward us in return in countless ways every day!

Christine, again you have our thanks for this wonderful boy! Poe and I share much joy together every day. He does my heart good and relieves my stress just by watching him bloom into the kitty he was born to be! We are thrilled that he is here and that you rescued him from a hard life no cat is meant to have. Kathi and Heida too, thanks for filling our hearts and home as well!

I am working on getting photos of both Lila and Poe together so you can see how they both have changed in these 6 months. When they arrived here, they were both about the same size and their bodies roughly the same color, points excepted. The differences in them now is incredible, so watch for updated pictures.

**************
Yesterday, November 30th, we opened the iso room door. Lila has been more than ready to explore the house for several days now. She really enjoyed zooming up and down the stairs getting a good leg stretch. Poe, more hesitant, explored some and well but played to a long time in the living room with his new yellow cat chaser. Pictures posted of Poe. Poe and Toby seem to have developed a more tolerant relationship. Lila and Toby are still working things out. Winnie and Kissy are more energized by our new family members but mostly sit back and watch/listen to the antics.

Overall, Lila have become very outgoing and aside from Toby, she is very confident in her place with us. We just lover her to pieces! She is a zany as a siamese comes!

Poe no longer hides under the bed when we enter the room but still puts his tail between his legs when picked up. Not sure if we should be holding him more so any advise would be appreciated. What is the best way to get him over this fear? He is great when unheld by us and will sit on the pillows for play and loving. He has a super loud motor!

They were out yesterday for a couple of hours. We let them out this morning and can hear kitten races upstairs. Tell me how two 4 pounds kittens can make so much noise when chasing each other! Like two buffalos running upstairs!

When they start to run upstairs, they are louder than our girls have ever been. The "joy of life" thing is a wonderful thing to watch and brings us much enjoyment. Lila and Poe make a great pair.

Lila has grown to be a stunning, petite almost 8 pounder. She is incredibly loving and curious. We humans are not allowed to close any of the bathroom doors as she wants to come in and play in the sink, with the dripping water that we turn on for her. She loves everyone here and comes to all of us to rubs and scratchies. She is, however, devoted to Alexis. When the girls got home yesterday from a weekend away (soccer), Lila would not leave her side. You want to talk about a bonded pair, Alexis and Lila are it!

Lila is quite vocal, although not as much as many other meezers. She is everything a meezer lover could want. Curious, active, demanding, loving and loyal!!!!! She also loves bird watching and frequently gets so mesmerized in watching them that she will fall over when they zoom by the door.

She is a good girl, for the most part. No bad habits but we are still working on "off the table" and now, "don't climb the screen door". Lila is frequently seen hanging from the top of the screen door. Not quite sure if we need to buy a water gun, fill a can with coins, or get another screen to keep her away from the door itself. She wants out in the worst way to get the buggies and birdies. So we are being very careful! I just know that as some point she will figure out that she can pull the screen door to open, if it is left unlocked. Did I say that she is incredibly smart!

I am working on getting photos of both Lila and Poe together so you can see how they both have changed in this 6 months. When they arrived here, they were both about the same size and their bodies roughly the same color, points excepted. The differences in them now is incredible, so watch for updated pictures.

Heida, again you have our thanks for our beautiful girl! Kathi and Christine too for filling our hearts and home as well!

MIMI
I'm almost just a kitten myself but I just got done having some kittens of my own. Boy, was that a lot of work. Now I'm ready to get on with my own life. I'm gentle and a little scared at the moment.

5/7 update: I'm a cutie, snuggly girl. I'm a little reserved, but I'm getting braver and braver. Foster mom says that I'll be allowed to visit with the other cats as soon as she can prove my beautiful fur doesn't have any more ringworm spores in it. I guess it's time for another shampoo. It's OK. Girly girls like me are used to beauty treatments!

5/13 update: I'm still stuck by myself because another ringworm culture is starting to show I still have cooties! Sheesh. I'm just fine, I tell you. Lemmeeout!

6/3/11: Thanks Darrell for showing me how to make an update!!! Mimi is doing great... she has now been with me four years and she is a happy girl. She loves to sit in the window sill and watch the world go by, run races around the house, and eat her treats. Her favorite "game" is "try to scratch my belly" which she plays every weekday as I get ready for work. I love her sass and her diva attitude and am so glad she is with me.
5/20/12: Mimi is still doing great. She had a few ups and downs when I adopted a new Siamese brother for her, McKinley, in October 2011, but after a few months of concentrated work and some help from a cat behaviorist, we reached a good place of peace and harmony in Jan 2012. It was well worth it! Mimi is happy, healthy, and still loves to spend time with me in the morning on my bed while I get ready for work. The best part of her "adjustment" period to McKinley is to see her back to her old self. She is now chasing him around the house as much as he chases her. My mom recently gave me a white fluffy (flotiki?) rug that kind of looks like a 70s bachelor pad nightmare, but Mimi loves it! Mom thought my cats would like it and she was right. It has become a favorite napping spot in front of the fireplace. We will going through some big adjustments in the next few weeks. On June 9, I move to a single family home in Falls Church, so we will see how that goes, but I am sure M&M will both be fine. I am hoping to build them both a screened porch as soon as I can afford it (ok, it's also for me!) because I know they will love to spend time watching the back yard.

5/20/14: Mimi continues to do great! I moved in June 2012 to a new home and she has adjusted nicely along with my male Siamese, McKinley. They love the additional space and have more room to run races and chase each other. She loves the new bird feeder I put in the flower bed right outside my window, so they both have a "kitty tv" right there to watch at their leisure. Lately, she's been sleeping on top of the chest that's at the foot of my bed. She did have some skin issues this year with some kitty acne under her chin and irritation in her ears, but the vet helped me get it cleared up, and as long as she stays on her new venison food, her skin is normal. She remains as sweet as ever and still a bit skiddish, but we love her anyway and she will come up to us often when she wants her head rub. She is a precious cat... can't believe it's been seven years since I adopted her! Thanks for your continued service to SCRC. It is such an amazing thing you all do and I hope you continue forever because I will be adopting Siamese cats for many decades to come! Blessings to all of you.

Hello Everyone
Harrison is settling in well and is now playing with Robbie. He is a really good boy but still doesn't like to be held much. Hoping as time passes he wil enjoy being loved.

He sleeps at the bottom of our bed and enjoys waking me up in the morning purring into my face. Harrison trys to dart out the door when we it open we are very careful with opening and closing doors. Robbie is super careful and is so worried about harrison getting out. I think thats how he became a stray in the first place.
My vet couldn't believe how beautiful he is and how clean his ears were> LOL. He was pleased with how healthy and beautiful he is.

Harrison has bonded well with Robbie my son they are buds. We enjoy him and are very happy that we have him in his forever home.
Thank you for placing him with us

ALVIN
I'm a lover, not a fighter, but I do protect my daughter, Thea. We were lost outside without a home, hung together, and would really love it if we could stay together. I go first to make sure everything is safe, she's right in my shadow. We like to snuggle together and are more than happy to share that snuggling with you, if you'd let us!

He loves being brushed and his coat looks so good! He has started playing and running all over the place...soccer, chase and feather wands are his new favorite things! Always ready to come running if anyone is in the kitchen and opens the fridge! Likes to meet new people and Dogs!

Thea is having a good time being cuddled and brushed! She has discovered the luxury hanging out on beds... Loves all of her cat toys and is eager to explore.

She is so talkative... carrying on conversations with whomever is around. Sometimes it to ask for food, mostly to ask to play! Such a curious girl, not afraid of new people and is getting used to dogs who come to visit. She doesn't mind the at all but prefers the calm ones. She sleeps on beds and couches during the day but spends most of the night chasing or being chased all over the house!

If only I would stop purring so much and stand still long enough, my pictures wouldn't be blurry! I'm laid back and easy going, fun loving and sweet. I don't think much of the other cats so would prefer to be the only one. Well behaved in all areas, I'm just waiting for you to click!

Hi I'm Sachi and I've been with my furever home for 4 months now. Taking my time to get to know things and just checking it out. Interesting place they have here. 2 little dogs who think they are royals. They go by Duke and Dutchess but I have to say they have been very welcoming. Giving my my space and not chasing or scaring me. I have a great screened in porch my mom lets me out in when she out there and I love laying in the sun on the shelves she has for me. I even have a great big windows ledge in the living room just so I can look out the window. I think I might start sitting on mom lap but not to sure I want to do that just yet. But mom pillow is perfect at night and I like to keep her head warm.
I had to go to the doctor because I keep sneezing and mom said I was a snotty kitty. The doctor gave me some medicine and I'm feeling better now. Mom says I am a perfect fit with the family. Think I'm going to like this place. I'll check back later and let you know how things are going.

VINCENT
Do you want a Meezer who will love you deeply and loyally? My fostermom says I'm the most affectionate cat she's ever met. I'll come to greet you when you enter a room; in fact, I'll follow you from room to room, often telling you my thoughts and feelings. I'll roll over and show you my belly for soft strokes. I love to sit in laps or snuggle while you nap--is there anything better than snuggling with someone you love? But I'm not pushy with neediness either. I get along with most of the cats here, and the big dog too. My litterbox habits are perfect, and I have no issues at all. What I want most on this earth is a family to call my own, and a one-person family would be wonderful too! It is my Christmas Wish of all wishes. Foster Deb Cognrats Jack in VA!

Vincent [VA1783] was euthanized on May 6, 2014 due to bladder cancer. He was the most loving cat anyone could have as a companion and I was lucky to have him in my life for almost 12 years.
