TAVI
I'm still in kindergarten as far as my people education goes, so I have a few things to learn. For that reason I need a quieter home with a devoted person or people who want to help me blossom and become a full fledged graduate student one day! Another cat to model afterward (cute young male would be good!) and a little time and patience on your part, and I'll be the apple of your eye!

Notes from Home
We are sooo proud of Tavi. Her discovery of her new house came in small steps. When we first brought her home from the Meezer Express, she moved to the back of her travel carrier and sat in the litter box shaking and hissing if you tried to touch her. When no one was looking she ran under our bed. She only came out briefly during the night and then eventually during the day just to eat. It was another week before she ventured out from under the bed for a little longer, then out of the bedroom (as long as no one was looking!), and then to other rooms upstairs.

It took her about 2½ weeks to discover the downstairs. At his point, she comes down every day on her own. We feed her downstairs to encourage her to come down more often. She still spends time in her spot under the bed but not nearly as much.

Now Tavi plays with her adoptive bother Rusty every morning and literally gallops around the house, back and forth upstairs, and up and down the steps. They take turns chasing and pouncing on each other. Sometimes Rusty gets too rough but she stands her ground and puts Rusty in his place. When they're both tired, they love sitting in the cat house together looking out the window.

We're patiently waiting for Tavi to let us pick her up. She has made so much progress but is still cautious. She's a darling little kitty and just so cute! Every new step fills us with joy. We love having our precious little girl and can't imagine our lives without her!

6/9/13
Tavi is no longer the frightened little kitty we brought home. Once she got over being scared, her real personality came out. She has blossomed into an affectionate loving cat who loves attention and (ta da!) lets us pick her up and sits in my lap!!! She purrs at any small head rub or physical contact. She especially loves belly rubs and often goes belly-up in my lap. She can entertain herself for hours throwing a small piece of dry cat food into the air and chasing it around!! She still gets just so excited at feeding time and runs in circles and "chirps" until we get her wet food on the floor. She often leaves food in the bowl but oh, getting it is such a thrill!! She doesn't run from strangers but still doesn't like new people. That's ok with us. We love her just the way she is. :)

BUTTERCUP
I'm a sweet and sassy, pint-sized ball of fluff ready to hop into your lap and your life. I don't hear much, so you can sing in the shower and with the radio, and I'll still think you're great! And it's OK because I like to sing sometimes, too! I've lived with another cat before so I might be able to get used to somebody new. But mostly I just really like for you to focus all your attention on me! Puuurrincesss Buttercup!

Check out my new videos! I decided that I would allow foster mom the rights to film me. I love to play!

Notes from Home
I was afraid my big oafs, formerly known as cats, would eat up Ms Buttercup in 1 bite, as soon as she came out of her "segue" room. When I opened her door she came right out, looked at these big galoots and said, "I'm in charge here. There will be NO nonsense tolerated." They fell away before her and there is NO nonsense going on. AMAZING! I can't believe my eyes. However......I make sure that she is in her private chamber if I have to leave the house.

She is adorable. Lots of head bumping and rubbing of my legs. She has the prettiest little face coupled with a LOUD voice. She's so cute. I'm very lucky to have the pleasure of her company.

Notes from Home
Shane went through his first wellness exam. He has what the vet calls "wax plates" in his ears. In two weeks he goes back to the vet to have them scraped out. One ear is almost covered. Other than that, he is in prefect health. He is very patient and understands that the vet and his assistants are just trying to help him, so he doesn't try to hurt them. However, he tries to give me "love bites" but he doesn't quite have the hang of it yet. I have to be careful or he will bite down and hurt. I don't know if he did that at the center. He's a sweetheart of a cat, so I don't think he means to hurt, but he is twice the size of Kayla and his teeth are bigger than hers. When he plays with her he is very gentle so I don't worry about her, but do you have any suggestions as to how to get him to stop trying to bite me? I love him very much and am so glad he is a part of my life.

SHADOW
I'm a sad boy. I liked my former home and the people there, and it wasn't my choice that I got dumped in the shelter. They said I was a nice cat, that I used my box, that I liked to sit on laps, and that I liked other cats. So why did they abandon me like that? It's taken me a while to get over my anger and upset at their betrayal, but I'm working on it. Foster mom says that in time, I'll find a wonderful home that will keep me forever. I am a senstive sort, and I do not like changes, so my next home has to be my final home. I've met the other cats here, and even though they are strangers to me I have no issues with them. Keep a watch for better pictures of me, as I've finally decided that life is worth living again! If you're looking for a dark seal boy with that big Siamese voice, then maybe I might be the one for you. I will now come to foster mom and let her pet me. I also use my meezer voice to cry for some attention. I think life might just be getting better.
Notes from Home
It was kind of a rough start, but things did settle down after about nine months. Shadow is very content. He gained weight rather rapidly after he first arrived. Not sure if he thought he wouldn't ever eat again, or had to eat everything all at once just in case. He has gained some more recently, though he is very active and runs, jumps and plays with amazing speed and accuracy. He is a very good cat - though not a lover. He will give head butts occasionally and some kisses when he wants to and does purr when I pet him and rough him up. Which he loves by the way because he always comes back for more. He tries to engage my other kitty in play, but she's kind of finicky and won't oblige. They chase each other on occasion, but only in playtime. They have never hurt each other. After some rather tense times determining territory, they do both sleep on the bed together now. Absolutely no touching, must be space between them! Funny. He just had his check up and he is in fine health though slightly overweight. Vet said he has the largest fangs she has ever seen! He does looks like a vampire because you can see his fangs even when his mouth is closed. Sending some pictures. He is a good kitty and I'm glad I gave him a good furever home. 6/1/13 His check-up was good. He is healthy but weight is still up. He is active and agile and happy. After another year my two meezers seem to get along even better, but no cuddling. They play chase and surprise charge. But never anything mean or hurtful. Heaven forbid that they touch each other!!! He has become more loving to me and now sits on my lap and purrs like crazy.

JJ
So I'm JJ, a young tortie Siamese female. It's taken me a few days to get settled in, but here I am. I was in tough situation for all of my young life, but things are getting better now.
I'm neat, and petite, and I have great manners with my litterbox.
I'm a sweet girl who loves to love you, but I'm still just a little bit shy about being held and cuddled. You can pick me up and rub on me, but I get worried at first because I don't know what you want to do to me.
I'm kinda skinny right now, and in fact you can feel my bones. But don't worry! I'll gain it back. I just need to get my spay in a couple of days and then I'll be ready to talk about going home with you!
So ask about me, and maybe my brother Grayer when he's feeling better!

BOOTS
Just got here but I am already making myself comfortable and enjoying the screened in patio. It sure is nice to have a bed and food and I sure don't want tolive outside anymore! This indoor life is MUCH better, there is food, water & love!

Purrs,

Wyatt
Notes from Home
1JUN2013: Changed name to "Boots." Boots' tail lesion is healed up after some treatment from our vet. He still has a bald spot there, but his hair should return soon now that he no longer bites/licks/chews the area. He's very curious and he likes to follow people around (or lead them, in many cases). This can result in him wanting to go places he's not supposed to go, like the garage or outside. So far the spray bottle treatment seems to be effective in training him which areas he cannot go.

WILLOW
I am actually loving life here because I get to talk to people, be carried around, petted and slung over shoulders. At 15 pounds, that's some feat but I'm perfectly happy, and will give you little kisses and tell you all about my day. I'm just a very easy going gal, I am fine with other cats but have little use for them, I just adore my people however! I have the neatest white brush strokes, there is only one ever like me made!

5/30/13--My integration of Willow with my "alpha cat, TJ, was completed last Wednesday, May 22, after 3 1/2 weeks. As of that date they I have allowed unsupervised co-existence. TJ is now a "beta cat". Willow has replaced him as the alpha cat. Female rules! They do hiss and growl at each other once in a while, as they pass, but no physical occurrences. Willow is still talkative, mostly when her food is being prepared. She is currently on a diet and has lost almost 2 pounds. I am still trying to break her of the habit of jumping on the table and on my lap when I am eating. I think that she would eat constantly, if allowed. Sorry there are no pictures. I attempted to download some, but your web site said that "We do not show you as the adopter of this cat".

KINZIE JAMES
Young and sweet, I'm just a lover boy who has the sunniest of attitudes! Stay tuned for more photos and videos tomorrow as I learn the ropes!
Notes from Home
Kinzie-James is doing wonderful! It took awhile but he now gets along well with my dogs.
He sort of takes everything in stride, as soon as he figured out that they were not going to hurt him he was OK with them. He is my shadow, wherever I am that's where he wants to be The next thing that we will be working on is how to be still at night!. I love him dearly, but I can't say that I'm fond of having him stick his nose in my ear, all the while purring loudly even though it's 3:00 AM. Pleaseignore his glowing eyes, I can't seem to get a picture of him that they don,t glow.

NUGGET
My story? I was tossed outside in a not-so-nice neighborhood in the big city of Philadelphia. I ended up at the home of some nice men who knew that the streets weren't safe for a nice girl like me - and here I am! I'm friendly and chatty and beautiful - better pictures of me are coming. Had my vet exam, and I appear to be a nice healthy girl. I do have two broken canine teeth that need to be removed, so I'll have nice white teeth when I go home.

Notes from Home
Sienna is extremely chatty and a huge love bug. Seems very content chatting/chilling with us, snooping around, sniffing at Captain's door, rolling on her back etc. My brother and girlfriend visited us the other day and she walked right up to them and said hi and rubbed them. We keep her separate from the other guy we just adopted, Captain. She did get out of the bedroom one day and chased Captain around the apartment, she's quite a toughie. Hopefully someday they will be friends.

June 2, 2012 (Sienna is now Nugget)
It took a few months to get our two beauties fully integrated. They still get in each other's faces a bit, but they live side by side with no issues. Occasional licks on each others heads. Sometimes their scuffles and chases seem more playful, less like fights.

The other day, I was calling them because I didn't see them anywhere and I was worried. When they didn't come out, I rumpled their treat bag (that will always send them running to the kitchen). Eventually I saw Nugget crawling out from under the couch. That wasn't too surprising because she had become interested in that spot and had been sniffing there and had occasionally gone under. A few seconds later, Captain came crawling out too! They were under there together! Maybe they were having a snuggle session. Anyway, while they're not the best of friends, they're definitely tolerant and even appreciate one another's presence.

Nugget has her affectionate moments (she just jumped up onto my lap and started purring) and she is friendly with strangers. Nothing seems to scare her. When we took her to the vet recently, trying to get her into the carrier was difficult as it always is. When Jim tried to get her in, she crawled up him and jumped onto the floor. I tried the same thing and she did the same thing. The funny thing is, both times she had the opportunity, when landing on the floor, to run away from us and hide, but she just stood there. She never runs from humans. We had 5 guys over (Jims brothers, nephew, friends) to watch the Superbowl, Nugget was sitting right in the midst of it. (She does like to be where the food is! Eventully I broke down and gave her a few tomato chunks.) When she was ready for a lap, she plopped right down on a friends lap, walking across 2 other strangers laps to get there. When I'm on the floor exercising, she likes to get in the way, or sit right on me while I'm trying to do crunches.

My babies are happy and healthy. I would not say best friends, but reluctant companions. Love them so much! Nugget is snuggle bug, chatty, still a piglet, very friendly.

CAPTAIN
I came, I saw, I made sure Foster Mary ended my isolation early. Yup...no leaving me in a room all by myself all night. Ain't happen'in. At least not if I have any say about it and I did - until 3am when she finally caved. I'm good!!!!
So I'm out and about mixing it up with the other cats (and dog) here. There were a couple of tense moments but I knew it was all good. Had to show that big male tabby that there's a new guy in town and I ain't taken any of his crap. We're all good now. I even started to headbutt that dog. My head comes up to her knee.
So there you have it...I adore people, I'm okay with cats (as long as they get I'm no pushover no sir'ree bub!). Dogs are okay as long as they treat me with the respect I deserve.
How bout it? You got a forever home fur me. I'm a really nice guy who only wants a home of his own and I hope it's with you!!!!
Notes from Home
Captain is a loverboy, a gentle giant that didn't even fight back when our new female got out and chased him around the apartment. He loves the toys that came with him, goes crazy with pipecleaner type ones. He's usually pretty quiet but is very vocal when playing and when waiting for his food. He is still a love bug when chilling out. An agressive headbutter. We love love love him.

Captain is sooooo affectionate. When he's in the mood to snuggle, he's aggressive about it, headbutting, purring loudly. This morning he headbutted my face so hard my glasses came completely off. And he really doesn't get over stimulated to the point where he'd swat you or anything. You can tell he's stimulated, but he never has a freak out moment. He might lick you and then give a love bite. I really don't believe it's the same as an overstimulated freak out. He just takes a quick chew and continues rubbing and purring. It's funny. He is, however, definitely more shy when we have company. He usually runs to the bedroom when people come over, and just stays on the bed or goes into a cubby hole in Jim's "armoir." If people are over for a while, he'll eventully come and check things out. When he trots around from room to room, chirping, its like he's supervising. We call it "Captaining."

Captain's a happy captain, keeping a close eye on all goings on. Such a big sweetie. Healthy and happy.
