Emmy is still doing great. She and Castle like to play and spar with one another. She also loves to climb on everything! She's quite the little adventurer. We love having Emmy as apart of our home and family. :)

BEAR
I'm the first of a home with 40 cats, stay tuned for my brothers and sisters to make their appearance! Meantime I'm a 7 pound very nice guy, and I get to have an entry in the Facebook Contest "Sound of Mewsic", so stay tuned for that!

Bear has been with me for two weeks now and he is really blossoming. The second day after the Vet visit, he started eating and he loves his food. My entire house is nothing but cat toys and he plays constantly. When I take him outside, he is afraid of everything, and he has no desire to try to get out of the door(which is a good thing). He has a bedtime ritual by running through the house at about 90MPH.
Jumps on the bed, attacks my feet that are under the covers and jumps off. This goes on for about 5 minutes or so, then he gets on the bed and settles in. He is beautiful and he has a little tiny voice, not like my other siamese that had big voices, Especially at night. Bear is doing great, and I'm so glad he came to live with me, thanks to all of you.

SORCHA
Just a few sneezes now and then and that's all that's left of my cold. Yay. I'm here with my foster brother and sister, and we love playing. I'm a little bit skittish, but once you get me playing or get my purr motor going, I'm all friendly. I'm a sweet little flame girl who has the softest fur! Monday I get my vet exam, so we'll see what the doc says about me. I betcha I'm fit as a fiddle.

We have changed her name to "Sorcha"; she is doing well, and now travels all over the house, eats with our other two cats, and tolerates the dogs. She has even begun to sleep on my bed with one of the dogs!

Notes from Home
Today, 10/12/14 is our one year anniversary. Demeter has a new name. Finally settled on Squeaky because when she runs and plays, she lets out excited squeaks! Tried to update her name, but wi/o success. Squeaks loves it when I throw her toys and chases and/or catches them. Her favorite toy is a big stuffed light grey rat with pink ears and tail. She also likes to play with the dental floss I have tied under the table top and it hangs almost to the floor. She enjoys her food as much as ever. Twice a day I don't even need to look at the clock to know what time it is. She still greets everyone who comes to the door, but has gotten better at not making a dash for it thank goodness. Periodically, i go around and pick up all her toys and put them in a shallow box. When she wants to play, she starts pawing at the box and/or starts dragging stuff out. In some ways, she is like a little dog. Everone comments on how beautifully striking she is, but what I love the most is when she cocks her head to one side when she is trying to figure something out. Would love to get her a "boy toy" kitty companion, but that isn't possible right now. She is a lovely little girl who has brightened my life considerably. Thank you for letting me adopt her.

Demeter and I have been together for six months now. I think she is quite special too. I haven't "officially" changed her name yet because I have run through so many different ones and I couldn't settle one that really fit her. They include Zoom Zoom, Porsche, Princess, Crazy Critter, Road Runner. One that was sticking for a while was Plumpkins because within two months she had put on some weight due to her appetite. She belongs to the clean plate club as she enjoys her food so much. Got that under control, but it was a bit difficult as she would meow so much for more food and I was spoiling her rotten. She is quite independent and her next favorite thing after eating is playing! I have never had a kitty so full of energy before. She could be a baseball outfielder 'cause whenever I throw balls of paper, she leaps ups and catches them with her paws 8 of 10 times. Once caught, she turns around and is waiting for the next one. She runs and using the furniture to vault over and many times will stop on a dime on the top back and looks around with a glint in her eye. Then just as suddenly, she takes off again. But, the name that fits her most is Squeaky! Why? ' Cause she chirps and squeaks short bursts meows as she is playing. Plus, she is such a chatty little thing. Squeaky makes a lot of funny faces too and loves having her back, chin and ears rubbed. She quite fond of chewing paper especially when she feels I am not paying enough attention to her. She loves meeting new people and isn't afraid one bit either. Whoever knocks at the door, she is right there meowing loudly for them to come in. She tolerates being held for about 10-15 seconds and then wants down. I wish she was more of a lap cat, but it is not in her. Perhaps when she gets older. She makes me laugh every day with her antics as she even chases her own tail from time to time. She is fond of gnawing on finger tips too. I wish I had pictures to upload, but camera on the phone isn't working. She knows when it is time to eat and doesn't let me forget it. I have contemplated getting her a "boy toy" as a play mate but I am unsure how she will react /adjust after being queen of it all.

Notes from Home
Raleigh arrived safe & sound a week ago Saturday. She was napping when she arrived on the Meezer Express and continued to nap for the rest of the ride home. Set her up in the spare bedroom and she stayed in ther until late Monday. I cracked the door and she decided to sneak out and see our other kitty. She kept running back into the room for safety when she felt threatened. On Tuesday she came out to explore and has been exploring since. She is so cute and so sweet. We just love her. She has no trouble eating and will do ANYTHING for canned food. I'm feeding her separately in her bedroom because my other siamese was just diagnosed as being diabetic so we have to keep him away from the kitten food. I was amazed how quickly she's settled in and acts like she owns the place, I still put her in her bedroom at night so she won't get into any trouble while we're sleeping. She is extremely curious and loves to climb. She and our other cat did spend time chasing each other up and down the hallway today. She's been wanting him to play with her since she arrived. He's a very gentle boy and hopefully this activity will help him get some exercise and lose some weight. All in all we couldn't ask for any smoother transitin for little Raleigh. She also had her 1st wellness check at the vet on Friday to get her into the system and all went well. As I'm writing Raleigh and Big Boy are batting at each other and chasing each other in the hallway. Thank you all.

11/13 Hard to believe it's been a month already. We absolutely love Raleigh. She's such a spontaneous little girl. She's a typical kitten who flies around with reckless abandon and gets into mischief. She loves to chew paper and is food motivated. Yesterday she stole a little piece of meat out of my husband's sandwich while he was eating it. She's really clever with her paws and also loves to carry things around in her mouth. I can't even imagine how active and mischievous the whole litter must have been before they were adopted. She's on the go most of the day until she needs a little rest. After her rest she's more interested in cuddly human time. We had hoped she'd be my husband's lap cat but that didn't happen. She absolutely loves me and follows me around like a puppy dog. He'll do if I'm not around but as soon as I appear she jumps off him. We're so happy with the amusement she's brought into our home. She's so beautiful and we absolutely adore her.

10/12/14 Hard to put into words how much we love Raleigh. She's been my little princess since the day she arrived. Raleigh was supposed to be my husband's cat but she took to me immediately and he's had to work his way into her heart which he has done. She's extremely canned food motivated and loves whoever gives her a spoonful at a time. She is full of energy in the morning and plays with my husband AFTER he feeds her. After she's had enough play time she retires to our bed to sleep with our other cat. They sleep on opposite sides because he's 12 and not into playful banter. She does enjoy being around him though. She comes back out in the afternoon for a snack and some lap time. Generally goes back to the b/r for another nap then comes out in the evening to socialize. I can't imagine life without her. I'm like the proud parent - I think she's the most beautiful little girl I've ever seen and such a smart kitty. It didn't take her any time at all to train us. She actually gets my husband to wait on her hand & foot because he would love her to spend all her time with him. She's actually sprawled out on his lap right now getting pets. She's been for her yearly physical and did great. I did have to put her on weight management food because she's heavier than she should be. I want to keep that in check because my 12yr old Siamese is an overweight diabetic and don't want her to take that path. As I said it's hard to out into worDs how much she's loved. I look forward to her antics each day. She definitely makes our lives complete. I couldn't have picked a better addition to our family. I LOVE, LOVE , LOVE HER.

Notes from Home
Guinness (Mango) has been with us for 49 days now. He and his sister (Lillet) have much more energy than both their adoptive parents together. He is a real chow hound and seems ready to eat any time. We have to be careful he doesn't 'poach' his sister's food. He is heavier than she and has more 'curiosity'; he also has a more outgoing personality and is beginning to greet strangers (or see what the commotion is all about). He and his sister are well behaved; it would have been a mistake to separate them.

MR. CHANG
I am a fierce, striped jungle beast, shown here killing my prey! What? That's not prey? It's a roll of paper towels? Well, it sure looked dangerous to me. And I'm not a fierce jungle beast? OK, so I'm really just a loveable and goofy lynx point. I love everyone here - the cats, the people - and I just love attention. I love to be held and cuddled and kissed. I have perfect litter box manners. I love to be brushed, I love to eat, I love to play. I love life! So why is such a great cat still avaiable? I've got a bit of a viral thing going on - but I'm getting better. I've got some sneezes, and one of my eyes is a bit squinty. The vet thinks it's a virus and I'm on a cheap vitamin called L-lysine for it. None of the other cats here have caught it, so if you have healthy kitties I can probably come and live with you. Foster mom will talk to you all about it, and also tell you how proud she was of me for protecting her from that wicked roll of towels!

Want a beautiful, near-perfect jungle beast? Then ask about me!

Update on Lili
Wow! What a treasure! We love her!!

Let me start at the beginning:
We brought her home on Saturday, October 5th and put her in Ralph’s study. We put one of the pads that Siri sent with her on a table in the window and under a lamp. We had kitty litter there as well as dry and wet food and water. She ate the wet food right away but never touched the dry food that Siri had sent with her. She also didn’t eat the shredded chicken that came with her.

We kept her away from Braeburn, our 14 year old Seal Point male, for one week. After a day in Ralph’s study, she was eager to see what was outside that room! If we weren’t very fast at closing the door, she was out like a shot! On Monday with Braeburn in our bedroom, we closed that door and let Lili out in the rest of the house. She had no fear and checked every corner out. Then she settled in to a chair and went to sleep! If one of us was sitting in the living room or watching TV, she immediately jumped into one of our laps, curled up and went to sleep.

On Saturday, October 12, her week of isolation was up. I had taken Braeburn to the vet on Thursday for his annual check-up and the vet suggested that we put Lili in a cat carrier in the living room and let Braeburn see her and sniff her. He hissed briefly, walked away and then came back hissed one more time, walked away and then came back and didn’t hiss. She showed no fear. I thought she would cower in the back of the cat carrier but she didn’t. She was right up front, eager to meet Braeburn.

So after 45 minutes in the cat carrier, we opened the door and she came right out. Braeburn sniffed her rear and she walked around the room unafraid. He went back to our bedroom to sleep and she settled in to a chair in the living room.

For the next three nights we put her back in Ralph’s study for the night. Then the next night we didn’t close her in the room. She came into our bedroom, got up on the bed and curled up against my stomach. Braeburn usually sleeps down by my feet. That night he didn’t sleep on the bed, but Lili was there all night, I think. The next night, Lili was in the same spot and Braeburn joined us in his usual spot down by my feet.

One day after that I was reading in a chair and Braeburn came and settled in next to me, not on my lap. Lili came and jumped up on my lap and when she did, Braeburn left. The next day, the same thing happened except that when Lili got up on my lap, Braeburn didn’t leave. She settled in and went to sleep with her head on Braeburn’s back leg. He didn’t move!

I took Lili to the vet last Monday for her “meet and greet” with the vet. She was fine.

Food wise she refuses to eat any dry food. So I have been feeding her ½ can of wet food twice a day.

She is the sweetest cat! She has no fear of anything. We do have to be careful to close outside doors. One morning Ralph went out the front door to get the paper and the screen door didn’t close fast enough and all of a sudden he realized she was walking down the front walk! She is really fast! She must have been allowed to be outside in her former home. I would love to know her history. She is such an affectionate cat! We love her and thank you for allowing us to adopt her. What a wonderful addition to our family! She is such an outgoing cat. When a stranger comes in, she greets them and gets in their lap! Braeburn by contrast is shy and doesn’t come out to greet strangers.

I have to also say a word about the Siamese Rescue Center. I have been following you for at least 16 years and have seen you grow and get more professional and sophisticated in your operations. My parents lived at Lake of the Woods and my sister brought my mother down once to see the center when she was in a wheel chair. They came unannounced and you were so gracious to them and showed them around. Then when my dad died my sister and I took a break from cleaning out their house and came down to the center again unannounced. By that time you had the large building for the cats. Again, you were so nice to show us around and tell us what you were doing. I continue to be impressed with what you do and how well you do it!

November 5th- We just received a reminder from the SRC that Lili had been with us for one month. We can't remember when she wasn't with us! We continue to enjoy her. She and braeburn are chasing each other around the house, eating out of each other's dishes, using the same litter box. Neither one seems to have any issues. As far as Lili is concerned this is her home. It as though she can't remember any other home. They both sleep on the bed with us. Lili up between us and Braeburn is his usual spot at the bottom of the bed. Sometimes when I go looking for her, she is in her Millie bed all curled up asleep! Right now it is on the floor but I am trying to find a place higher up for it. We did get her a window perch which is in the sun. She sleeps up there if I put her there but she hasn't jumped up on her own yet.

Update- April 5, 2014- What can I say? She is a real treasure!! She loves strangers or visitors who come. She immediately gets in their lap! We call her "lap lady" or "lovely lady" what Alistair calls Jean in As Time Goes By. She loves her Millie bed especially when it is in the sun. At breakfast she sits on the floor and waits for permission to jump in my lap while I am having my coffee. We can't remember when she wasn't part of our family! When we got her, she didn't do much talking. About a month ago she started and her voice is getting louder but she is still relatively quiet. She usually spend the night between us on our bed. Two nights ago it was very warm and I found her in her Millie bed sound asleep.Thank you so much for allowing her to become a member of our family!

October 8, 2014- Lili is asleep in the sun in her Millie bed as I write this. She has had her annual check-up at the vet and is in good health. She loved going to the vet once she got there! She contiues to greet everyone who comes in the door and if they don't acknowledge her, she rubs against their legs. We have a neighbor who says she is a dog person but if she could have a cat like Lili she might just become a cat person. Everyone who meets her falls in love with her. We feel so lucky to have her with us! What a wonderful addition to the family!

COCHETA
Not too sure if you're going to be nice or nasty, so I need a really nice person. If you're consistently nice, I will be too, but you're going to have to convince me you're not one of those hot and cold people who loses their patience. I'm taking it slow and easy and learning step by step; I will get along fine in a multicat household, or you could take me one on one and we could work through our issues together. Just give me a chance.

Notes from Home
Reading the intake notes were like a therapy session! I can't believe how far I've come or that it has been 8 years! Upon arrival, my people decided that "Cocheta" wasn't working for us, so, despite being highly creative people, they re-named me Kitty. Yes, "Kitty", but in recalling all the cats waiting to be adopted, I decided that wasn't the worst thing that could happen to me. It literally took me a few years to get settled in (I admit, I really was a bit of a project cat). Based on my behavior, my people decided that I originally lived with dog people, and mean dog people at that. Boy do I hate the sound of whistling, and I couldn't believe my new people were encouraging me to get on the sofa! I rewarded them with purring, although sometimes it was just too much, so I'd have to bite them a little to let them know I needed my personal space back. There were some dark days, too, like when I got addicted to treats, and aggressively demanded them. I also put on some weight, so I got a bit of a lecture at the vet's office. I also got a housemate, Sox, that my people let in from outside. I liked it much better when they thought she had feline leukemia and kept her locked upstairs, but another test a year later showed that she wasn't sick at all. We've been sharing the house for almost 6 years, and we still can't get along. If only she would admit that I am the alpha cat, everything would be fine.

Anyway, after a few years, the people brought home a rather curious package. It sounded like me, but it looked a little odd. I did a really good job of protecting it. Somehow, I knew when it was crying whether it just wanted attention or if something was wrong. When it was hungry, I went to the people and yelled at them to do something. I even slept by its crib. I must have done a really good job, because not long after, they brought another one home. It took some time and practice, but I finally got them to master front-to-back petting, and now that the older one is in kindergarten, she really knows how to rub and scratch my ears and neck. I'm very careful not to bite her, even when she doesn't quite pet me the way I like. I let her know I like her, by coming when she calls me, and sleeping on her pillow. The younger one is nice, too. He's 4, and when I ask for things, he always asks me what I want (in a nice way, of course).

Overall, I am a pretty happy cat, but I still get in trouble with the vet for my weight. I don't eat junk food anymore, just my Chicken Soup brand dry food, but I've always been a little heavy, from when I first got here and liked to stress eat. My people make sure I stay healthy, and they don't talk too much about my weight, mostly because I'm really nice with the kids, and whenever anyone comes to visit, I am the very first one to welcome them to our house. The only thing I've never really overcome is this picking up thing. I let one of my people (my "mom") pick me up, but we try not to make a habit of it, and I still swing around and give her a hard stare when she puts me down, even if I liked being held just a little bit. The one thing I have discovered JUST THIS YEAR is laps. Who knew how warm and snuggly it was on laps?! Now I can't get enough!

Well, that's all for now. I've made sure the people put some food outside for the stray cats (I get to lick out the cans, yum!), and now it's time for my nap. But I'm glad I had a few minutes to let you know how much I appreciated getting a second chance, and how my life has been these last few years.

I am one of those meezers that has a sad story behind me & because a lot of caring people took me under their wings & saved me....here I am in Siamese Rescue just waiting for my new beginning to happiness. Right now I am setting in & my foster meowm is allowing me time to feel safe. She said something about a photo shoot being taken later tonight...so I suppose that means pictures...I like having my pictures taken & will show you just how handsome I am.

Let's get started on our beginning to happiness...click on that button & ask about me.

Notes from Home
It only took a few weeks for. Mr. Shy to show his true self---Mr. In-charge. Two years later, he has mellowed, but my lap is his lap. My bed is his bed.. The resident lady cat, Mia takes exception to those opinions, but deals with it diplomatically. They aren't buddies but have reached a mutual tolerance. The drop in "maleness" has had a lot to do with it. He has never made a meow sound even when humans try to speak Siamese to him in case he just needs tutoring. Vet sees no physical reason for his silence. I keep track of his whereabouts as he loves to make doors move & has shut himself in & couldn't tell me so. Chancy is so smart--will sit or rollover on command. He may know other tricks which have not been discovered. He has darkened considerably & is a handsome fellow, playful & affectionate, is usually where I am. My Lap Warmer !!
