SOPHIE
Hi there! My name is Luxio - that's just short for Luxurious! Today I am REALLY luxuriating in my new warm room which even offers room service!! WET food on a china plate and all the kibbles and clean water I can drink. Someone even cleans up after I poop! I mean, really.... is this a dream?? They even gave me a real live squishy toy to cuddle up with. This is a far cry from scavenging on the side of the road in the cold and wet.

I think I can get used to the luxury life!

Notes from Home
Her Siameseness, The Divine Miss Sophie has become a wonderful, curious, naughty, georgeous member of our household and we don't know what we did before she came to live with us! She had both my husband and myself wrapped around her little blue point paws within days of her arrival although her Tonkinese brother Yoda isn't always so sure.. It was a flawless transition for her to fit into our household. She is a petite little girl at 9 months old and still can't wear a "big girl" collar so she still has her kitten one with the pink flower..how embarassing!
I would and will adopt again from Siamese Rescue in a heartbeat. Thank you everyone who worked so hard to bring Sophie into our life and hearts. She is a joy.

ILLYRIA
I am feeling much better, but am still shy. I do like being brushed though, and I like watching the other cats play. I need a quiet home with a nice cat or two to be with, and a person with patience to take it slow with me.

Notes from Home
Illyria (Lucy) is doing great! After spending a few days hiding under the bed, though eating well and using the litter box when the coast was clear, she suddenly decided to come out and play! Now she comes to me to be petted regularly and seems to love the attention. Tequiler has been keeping a close eye on her, usually from the doorway. Lucy has approached him a few times, only to be hissed at when she gets too close! He has shown no signs of aggression and Lucy has taken it completely in her stride, even walking right past him to explore the landing and bathroom, so I am sure it won't be long before the two begin to enjoy each other's company.

Saturday, April 19: Illyria (Lucy) is no longer shy - in fact she is becoming quite assertive! Last night she ran through the open bedroom door, explored the upstairs and then ventured downstairs to check out the rest of the house. It took a while to coax her back to her room for the night Unfortunately her sudden confidence has had a detrimental effect on Tequiler, who stopped eating and has vomited a couple of times. Lucy went to the vet today and received all kinds of attention and fuss - in fact her photo will be uploaded on Big Creek Veterinary Hospital's Facebook page as pet of the day! She is perfectly healthy and completely up-to-date (thanks to Siamese Rescue). The vet, who is very familiar with Tequiler, believes he is simply suffering from stress and suggested that I use the Feliway diffuser for him instead of for Lucy as originally intended. I will have to keep the cats separated for a while longer, at least until Tequiler gets back to his usual happy self. Of course he will go to the vet if he doesn't start eating again this weekend. The name "Lucy" seems to fit very well - she is beginning to remind me of Lucy in the Peanuts cartoon!

Monday, April 21
Sadly Tequiler is in hospital and Lucy seems to know that he is missing, so she is once again spending most of her time under the bed, though still eating well and coming out for her mealtime loving. Tequiler had not eaten for 3 days and is dehydrated. Blood tests and temperature were all normal, so the vet is hopeful he will recover quickly. There is no apparent reason for his condition - other than stress caused by the sudden upheaval in his life. I am devastated! The vet will keep him until he is properly hydrated and eating again.

Wednesday, April 23
Tequiler responded well to fluids and force-feeding and is now back home. There seems to be no explanation other than stress at having to share his home (more likely me!) with a stranger. He is quite perky today and starting to eat, though only a little so far.

Lucy is ecstatic that he is back! When I opened the door to her room she shot out like a rocket and flatly refused to go back. She has remained free ever since, though she does go back occasionally for naps, or to use her litter box. There is no hostility between the cats and they actually seem to be getting along fine. Lucy explored every corner of the house, found the drinking fountain, Tequiler's litter box and his food! Heida was right when she said Lucy is a cat's cat, rather than a human's cat. She doesn't come to me for cuddles any more - my role is merely to provide catering and house-keeping services - but runs straight to Tequiler and wants to hang out with him. Luckily she does provide him with space on a regular basis, which will help him recover from PTSD!!

I had been very careful to give Tequiler plenty of attention, so he shouldn't have been jealous, but maybe even a few minutes here and there attending to Lucy's needs and whims was too much. Hopefully the crisis has ended and all will go well from now on.

Wednesday, April 30: Lucy has settled in extremely well and is thriving! Tequiler too is recovering well from his recent setback. He is not yet willing to accept Lucy as his favorite companion, but is happy enough to share space and play with her. They both like to chase a laser light, so we play with that together once or twice a day. Lucy likes to watch the birds from a window perch. Sometimes she disappears for a couple of hours and it took me a while to figure out where she was hiding - she eventually emerged from the basement trailing cobwebs! Obviously she had been hiding in the utility room, probably behind the furnace. The only problem now is clipping her nails! She fights like a wildcat and it feels like trying to hold onto a greased piglet. No success so far, but will keep trying. She is very active and has gained a little weight. She is also becoming more affectionate with me, though she doesn't like being picked up, Am trying to get sone photos of her, but she doesn't keep still long enough.

Sunday, October 10, 2014
Illyria (Lucy) has settled in very well. She has become quite a "people cat", wanting lots of attention from me and sometimes annoying Tequiler by settling confidently on my lap. She doesn't like strangers and disappears whenever someone comes to the house She still looks at me defiantly and smacks my hand when she doesn't get what she wants - we're working on that! I found the best reaction on my part is to explain quite firmly (again) that there will be no scratching or biting in this house and then to simply walk away. I'm sure Tequiler wishes she understood the long-standing house rule that "boys go first." She insists on being fed first! There is a fair amount of jealousy between them, but they work it out, usually to Lucy's advantage. She still loves the window perches, the toys and chasing the laser light. She keeps a close eye on anything that is going on and is intensely curious. She really is irresistible!

Lucy (Illyria) is doing extremely well. Her first year check-up confirmed that she is very healthy. I apologize for sending this update so late, but the past few months have been very difficult as I had a bad fall on the stairs towards the end of February and ended up in hospital three times and rehab for several weeks. My two daughters took good care of the cats and Lucy started demanding attention from everyone who came to the house. She no longer hides when strangers come in and is a continual source of amusement. She is very much a prima donna, strutting around like a spoiled movie star! I have been home now for about a month and she has started sleeping with me. Tequiler is worried that I might leave again and guards me whenever my daughters come over, but the whole experience has been very good for Lucy. She is full of confidence now.

6/16/14 Thank you! I love Uma & appreciate the check in. We went to the vet this morning & somehow I've let her put on a little weight...she is such a chow hound! The vet gave me some suggestions on how to control her portions & not feel like I'm depriving her. She also had to have her ears cleaned & is now on Tresaderm for 10 days bc she has gunk in her ear. Poor little girl!
I will certainly fill out the Feedback link. I've loved working with Siamese Rescue & am so thankful for all its volunteers & their commitment to saving Siamese cats. Kathi- you've been the best!
Since its an election year I am busy on the weekends but would love to look at volunteering in the new year. I can do the flyer part though!
Would you all mind posting a picture of Uma to your Facebook page? I saw one of Princess with her new family & I would love one for Uma! I've attached three pics of her at home. In the future I will update via the site.

7/2/14- I loveeeeeeeeeee Uma! She is the best, most playful kitty. She loves to cuddle & is a purring machine. I rub her belly everyday! Her weight has stabilized as I have cut her dry food a bit. We've finished the Tresaderm ear drops & so I think her ears are on the mend. She isn't afraid of strangers & already has many admirers. She does indeed fling that cat litter! She is crazzyyyyyy about that wand toy; she won't play with anything else! Every morning when my alarm goes off, she will jump on my back with the wand toy- she's ready to play!
I love Uma & already know we are deeply bonded! Thank you Siamese Cat Rescue!
6/2/15 Uma is the BEST kitty and I love her so much. She cuddles all the time & purrs & loves to play. All my friend & family love her too- she is very popular.
She did have to have 10 teeth removed about 3 weeks ago. Apparently her teeth really deteriorated in 6 months since her last vet visit. Although I think she's loving life now that she can only eat wet food. She is the happiest kitty.
Here are 2 recent photos. I am telling everyone they need to get a kitty from Siamese Rescue! They won't be disappointed!

I love dogs - I like to talk to the ones around here but gosh darn it they don't pet me!! I finally got one to give me kisses. So if you have dogs or if you have cats I would be fantastic with them. I just love EVERYTHING!!!

I can't believe it's only been 6 months since Yuengling(Ursa) arrived! I feel like Yuengline has been with us forever. She is so sweet and so loving. We could not have asked for a better kitten, I feel so lucky to have gotten her. She and her big brother Raspi get along quite well. His vet said he looks great and has a new lease on life!! He thinks so most of the time. We have no issues at all with her. She is truly a joy to have.
Thanks so much for helping to bring her to us

LEO
Well, I've had rough couple of days. Lots of handling and vet stuff. I got neutered! Wow, I don't know why they had to do that! Then I got shots and something called a micro-chip. What in the world was that all about?
But I've been a good boy all through it. Then my new foster Meom says I have to go to the vet again! Seriously? They think I might need my teeth cleaned. Well, as ya get a little older you should have your teeth taken care of. I like to eat so I don't want to lose my teeth!
So you can call me General or Gen Price. Or you can call me Sterling or even General Sterling. Meom says I have a commanding appearance! I'm quite the handsome guy you know!
Meom says she'll take some new pictures of me once I settle in here.
Thanks for listening,
Yours purringly, General Price

Notes from Home
General Sterling Price is now called Leo because he looks like a lion and because he stayed inside his sleeping bag for 2 weeks like a cowardly lion. Leo is eager to be liked. He is respectful to my kitty girl, Mocha, and they love to play hide and go seek, pouncing out from behind a door or under a bed. He likes to sleep up by my head next to the pillow, knowing that kitty girl is under the covers. Maybe when it turns cold he will join her under the covers! When I sit in the big easy chair in the living room, he sits up on the back of the chair behind my head as kitty girl is already in my lap. Sometimes he squeezes onto my lap too. He greets me when I come home from work and is always ready for dinner. He is a lovely cat and I think he will become even more affectionate as time goes by. Thank you to all who paired him up with me and Mocha.

Notes from Home
Just got the email that it has been 6 months since we got Brand- aka Sydney. She has adjusted very well into our home. My big boy cat Bailey and Brandy have about an equal relationship. I can't say one is more dominant than the other. They get along great and play very well together. Brandy continues to love her feather wand toy and will drag them to you so you will play with her. And she sure loves to eat! She was a tiny thing at 8 pounds when we got her and I hesitate to weigh her now. She has gotten a little chunky shall we say? She is very loving and loves to be petted. Good litterbox habits all around..

Last month Brandy had her annual check up. Her mouth continues to be a bit sore and the vet says she is just a cat that is prone to gum disease. She gave us some antibiotics and we will keep an eye on her. It hasn't hurt her appetite. She has gained over 3 pounds in the last year. (sigh). We love her lots and she is a lot of fun. Still loves to chase her feather wand and will drag it around the house. She also is a huge fan of 'making biscuits" and will purr away for hours.

I come with 9 years of solid medical records, a long history of being a loving cat, and a reputation for being an easy going nice guy who gets along just about anywhere. I'm described as an 'enormous lap cat' who likes to sleep on your neck and your arms, hope you don't mind!

Lefty, being an older man, has been having trouble with his pancreas, it gets inflamed, He doesn't benefit from his diet as a healthy cat. I try to feed him more often and sometimes he needs extra additives. We have a vet appt. Tuesday to check up on his waight etc. They will tell me if he needs to go back on those suppliments. He loves Sierra. They sleep cuddled up together. Of course he is not as active as Forrest is. Forrest and Sierra are doing well. They have had to adjust to several new dogs. Forrest had a great relationship with the first dog and he thinks all dogs should be the same. My current dog is a puppy, a hound, who doesn't understand why he should not chase after the cats. she is smart enough to get around the barriars that I put up. I am going to have to do something different/more permanent.

Notes from Home
May 30, 2015

Singer is still the leader of the pack in the McMeezer household. We noticed he'was losing weight last fall so off to the vet we went where we found he had CRF but in the mid range stage. Doc put him on meds, special food and he now gets sub-qs a few times month. He's doing better though hasn't regained all of his previous weight. Still he is a constant talker, lover and keeper of the peace with the other four meezers in our family. Singer is totally bonded with his "dad" and enjoys hanging around with him, sleeping on his lap or riding on his shoulders throughout the day. What a cat! He's our bat-eared, whippy tailed wonderboy!

Singer, as always, is the most amazing, friendly and vocal cat here at the McMeezers. He's clearly the ring leader, boss man and in total control of all furries and humans in our home. We adore him beyond words. As he's aged, he's begun to have some kidney issues but our vet is on top of it with changes and in diet and regular bloodwork. So far, so good. It has not affected Singer's energy or purrsonality at all. We LOVE him dearly! New pics of him with his buds, as usual in a pile!

Singer aka "the Ambassador" is the friendliest of our meezer crew. He takes nightly strolls with my husband and I, perched on DH's shoulders. The neighbors literally watch for us and then come outside and chat and talk to Singer. He is a fascinating conversationalist with everyone and always has a word or two to say to each visitor.

He's become the "daddy" to all fosters, particularly any kittens. But to each and everyone of them, he will show them around the house, share his basket of toys, play race and chase for as long as they want to and has been, on occasion, known to share his Millie bed with a foster.

All in all, he is almost the perfect cat and we simply adore him!

Singer just had his yearly check-up on Saturday and is in great shape according to his vet. We will be doing his yearly dental soon. Singer continues to be our "Ambassador" cat, meeting and greeting all new fosters and winning the hearts of all who meet him. Check out his latest photo, grooming time with his buddies Sammy and Sheba.

Notes from Home
10/6/12

We adopted one year old Cotton 5 months ago from the VA Center. After trying out several new names, Cotton was really meant for him, so Cotton it is. From day one he’s been a very loving, playful, outgoing cat. It doesn’t matter who comes through our door, he’s there to greet them with a little squeaky chatter and everyone loves him. Our nephews visited for the weekend and he’s even great with kids.

The integration with our other 2 cats was a little slow going at first. Cotton, not having a shy or timid bone in him, has a tendency to play a little rough and is overly enthusiastic. Our little diva wanted nothing to do with him and our snowshoe male went very submissive. We spent hours daily doing “play therapy” with all 3 and about 6 weeks later, noticed the change overnight. Whew.

He was initially given up because of a bite claim. In the 5 months he’s been with us we have NEVER seen anything close to aggression in him. He still enjoys going to the vet, he has never hissed, and only on a rare occasion has he growled at the other cats while playing when he’s not in the mood to share his favorite toy, which he eventually does. He’s really a big lug who just wants to eat, play and be loved.

Cotton’s favorite things to do; eat, watch the chipmunks, eat, play, eat, be loved, eat, sleep. That boy loves loves loves his food. It’s been a challenge to keep up with his sneak eating.

He’s been such a wonderful addition to our family and we can’t be happier that he’s a part of our lives.

P.S. Siri, you're initial assessment of him was spot on and you made a comment when I picked him up that you bet he sleeps right on the head…you were right. :)

5/18/14

It’s been 2 years since we adopted Cotton. He’s still a very active, curious and playful cat with lots of energy. The curious part has can be very entertaining, usually, he has no fear and wants to check out everything. I’ll post a few pics. We are down to one living plant that currently lives in the bathroom with the door shut. 

Thankfully, we’ve had another healthy year. One little food allergy issue last summer and a change of diet fixed that. His annual visit to the vet is this Tuesday.

We’ve been able to stop, mostly, his little love bite habit with the nose and ears. He only does it when he’s happy, purring and drooling the entire time, so no aggressive intent, but painful for the recipient. I think this was why he was given up the last time. It’s been 2 years, we have 2 other cats, and we have yet to see him be aggressive to anything. He even enjoys going to the vet. Pops right out of his carrier and starts exploring. Opening the cabinets, climbing the paper towel dispenser to check out what’s on top. My vet loves him.

He’s also the favorite of our friends and kids. Kids LOVE him.

We had/have 2 other cats prior to adopting Cotton. A little black female, Cleo, who set the rules right away as to who’s boss and a snowshoe siamese boy, Jake, who became very submissive. The first 6 weeks were a little stressful for us between the boys, as I mentioned before. After many hours of working with them, finally over a weekend, things got better and have continued to do so. Cotton is a tank and weights more than the other 2 and knows it. He still uses that to his advantage and we’ll need to intervene now and then but everyone most of the time gets along great. I even catch the boys sleeping together at night.

Thanks again for allowing us to find Cotton. He’s my little cuddlier and we can’t imagine our home without him.

5/30/15

It’s hard to believe it’s been 3 years already. I was just rereading his initial assessment notes and they are still accurate today. He’s a 4 year old kitten who loves to play, be petted and cuddle. He has the same chirpy meow and his favorite toy is still the stick with a feathered whatever at the end. He drags them all over the house.
