KYO
I'm a sweet little boy, but not the bravest one in the world. I was found as a stray, all alone on the streets, when I was just a 4 month old baby. Animal Control picked be up, and took me to the scary shelter place, but I was lucky enough to find a foster home where I learned to play and not be afraid. I need a quieter home, one with other kitties who will play with me. I do like my toys, and my food, and playmates. I use the litter box like a good boy, too. So now, here I am waiting for the nice home I was promised. Is that your home? Don't you need a pretty red boy? Then ask about me.

Notes from Home
10/9/15 - Kyo went to the vet last month and all checks out well! I thought he was a big cat at 11.3 pounds last year. When the vet tech weighed him this year, I heard her exclaim from the back room, "Oh my goodness he's 19.1 pounds!" I was immediately worried that he was overweight. After further examining Kyo, my vet determined that he is at his ideal weight (whew!) and is not at all fat. Kyo is really just a very large cat. In other news, Kyo and adoptive sister Rosie (VA7539) are getting along great. Earlier they were both playing with the same rattle mouse toy and it was so cute. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it though. As I type this update, they are over sleeping together in one of the MIllie beds. I should say Kyo is sleeping in it and Rosie is sleeping on the edge of it, as there's no room for her in there with him. They shared a bath (he was bathing her and she was enjoying it immensely) and have now settled in for nap number 8 of the day.

8/19/14 - Kyo was recently in at the vet for his yearly appointment and shots. He's a whopping 11.3 pounds of extremely long and extremely lean cat!! He's huge! I'd compare him to a 6.5 ft. gangly teenager!
In July, Kyo and adoptive sister Rosie made the move to the new house and have been getting along very well. He's still a bit shy and timid around her at times, but there are times when he's the one doing the instigating. He is also very shy around new people, but once he knows who you are, look out! He's got a killer headbutt that he throws his whole body behind. He is also the only cat that I've ever had (so far) that is a nibbler. He gets up close to your face and puts his nose against yours. If you don't give him enough attention he'll nibble the end of your nose! He's also been known to nibble fingers, ears, and chins.

11/14/13 - Kyo is settling in very nicely. He is such a love bug! Usually from the time I enter his room to the time I leave he does not stop purring. I'm not sure if he has an off switch! :) All he ever wants to do is rub my face, or lick my ears. Recently, he has taken to walking around on my shoulders. He realizes that there are other kitties outside his room and he seems eager to want to run out to meet them; but he still has to do more time in solitary before he can meet them. We took Kyo to the vet on Tuesday, and everything checked out great! Everyone thought he was a very beautiful boy! And I'd have to say I agree!! He is also very quiet. On the ride from picking him up, and to and from the vet, he didn't make a single peep. Even in his room I've never heard him make any other noise other than purring. I'm sure he'll find his voice eventually. Pictures coming soon!

Also - In case anyone is wondering, Kyo is Japanese for apricot. I got his name from the anime "Fruits Basket" which is about members of a family that represent the twelve Chinese zodiac animals, plus the cat. The character Kyo is, of course, the cat.

Week 1 for Miss Macey! She's had a busy week this week. Getting settled in her own space. Getting tootsies/ claws trimmed. Meeting Oreo and Calo. Making friends with Calo. Vet visit for a checkup- all clear! And busy trying to make friends with Oreo.

She's made super fast progress assimilating in. She's allowed now to have supervised sessions out and about the house. Right now she's playing with a ball around the living room. Calo, our resident male, loves playing with her. Oreo is still not sure about all this, but yesterday I saw her and Macey touch noses, so progress is being made on that front. Mostly it's been disciplinary bops on the head when Macey gets too cheeky.

Week 2 with Macey. She has gotten to the point where she can spend the day with the other cats.
Calo is her new best buddy. She is always up for playing with him. Oreo is still a challenge. She's interested in Macey, but is having a bit of struggle dealing with the "kitten energy" that Macey has. We've given Oreo a safe space so when she gets too overwhelmed she can retreat so safety. We have also put Feliway through out the house to help keep her calm. When Macey is calm, Oreo is calm. So it's headed in the right direction.

I found Macey to be a bit "bitey". She got my husbands big toe and me in the face but nothing serious. She does respond to "no". So we will keep reinforcing that.

1 month update- Macey is doing great! She is finally making inroads with Oreo and we have caught them playing together! She is still Calo's shadow, but he gets a bit grumpy when Macey wakes him up during his naps wanting to play. The boy needs his beauty sleep!

10-5-2015 - sheesh! where did the time go?!? Have I been here with Meowma for three (3) years already?!? Wow, I guess that I've been so busy keeping the bratlings in line that I hadn't noticed. Meowma says me calling them bratlings is a bit "pot/kettle" - I don't get it since there's no potbelly on the lean cuddle machine that is me. Just 'cuz I snap at her yarn while she's knitting, sleep on her pattern, demand cuddles while she's knitting, or lick and/or perforate alllllllll the plastic doesn't mean I'm a brat....

10-16-2013 - okay, okay, okay, I guess the bratlings are alright although they're still pestiferous, playing with my tail; hogging the Da Bird; and trying to sleep next to me. Just because I whapped the bratboy to start a romping game of tag doesn't mean I really want to share my space, right?!?

4-15-2013 - hmmm, I'm not sure about this 'cuz I'm not the only orange boy in the house but he and his sister ain't Meezers! At least they do wear tuxedos so they got some class but really! The boy's okay but his little sister's kind of a pest - she just won't leave my tail alone! And Meowma just laughs when I complain 'cuz she thinks I use it to tease the girl. How's a guy supposed to cope?

11-1-2012 - well, Meowma is telling everyone I'm her favorite little pumpkin, and that I round out her Halloween collection with Declan as the Bat-boyo, and Sesame as the ghost. How embarassing! If I wasn't so busy getting into everything, I'd be upset. The Dec-ster's kinda OK - usually up for a game of 'chase-me' but he's kinda rambunctious, ya know. If I wasn't so busy checking everything out, I'd be concerned. I've created a little pumpkin patch under Meowma's bed where I can hide from the world when I want. If I wasn't too busy to slow down, I might wonder how Meowma always knows I'm in there. Oh, and Meowma told me I wasn't going anywhere after she found out I hug! Hugs to all who helped me get home - Meowma thinks it's probably a good thing you didn't know I hugged before you passed me on!

HERMAN
I am a little sweetie!
Blew off that shelter cold and I am already over 2 pounds.

I can help you start your new year off right as long as you don't expect me by New Years Eve! BTW, that's me on the left. New pics and a video coming if I ever stop running around. No chance of catching me relaxing in any pictures because now that I am feeling fit, I am in constant motion the moment I hear feet coming toward the foster room.

Notes from Home
Herman is one year old now and has grown into a big (10-lb) sweet, fluffy boy. The vets think he might be part Birman and part Maine Coon - he feels like a big squishy stuffed animal when you pick him up and cuddle him. He has a really quiet, high voice that chirps and trills like a little bird. Used to the yowling of Siamese, neither my husband nor I realized at first that what we were hearing had come from him. The traits he has that are similar to a Siamese are his intelligence, friendliness, and a strong desire to interact with people and his 4.5 year old Siamese Tortie sister cat, Josie, and his part Collie/part Shepherd dog, Rosie. Rosie adopted him right away, but Josie took awhile to accept him (with the help of Jackson Galaxy essences) - now they play together ALOT!! They don't sleep together, but have their own chairs in the living room - I think that Herman's long hair makes him hot enough that he doesn't like the extra warmth from others for very long. He loves being picked up and cuddled, but won't sleep with us nor sit on our laps very long. When the weather is cool, his favorite spot is next to the glass in the bay window - opposite of our heat-seeking Meezer.

He has been a wonderful addition to our family and we really appreciate all the work the Rescue volunteers went to during his young life to prepare him for coming home to us.

KIMIKO
Hi! I'm recovering from a difficult spay and feeling better every day. I'm now comfortable, eating, and enjoying my soft bed. I still need some time to heal and tell meowmy more about me, but you can now ask about me and maybe I'll be a good fit for your home.

Purrs & headbutts,

It has been six months since Kimiko came to live with us and we can't believe it has only been half a year; it feels like she has been with us all of our lives. Our beautiful Kimiko gives us so much joy and happiness. We love her and all that makes her such a wonderful baby. When she first came to us, she would meow often and quite loudly to us but over time, I think she realizes we're deaf and now she would meow less often and would come up to us, pat her tiny little paw on our arm or face or bop her head against our noses to let us know she needs food or our attention. She could fetch the toy mice like a dog. Whenever we're home, we play the music videos on the "Relax My Cat' Youtube channel which relaxes her. She would try on our shoes like the fashionista she is. She would nap on our pillows even if our heads are already on it. True to the meaning of her name, she is our little empress. <3

AZUL
Oh my....such interest is being shown in little ole me!!! How exciting!

I'm still being closely watched by my foster meowm & she's taking good care of my eye condition, but I'm really ready for all this drama about eye drops to stop!

I'm growing & doing all the things she says I should be doing, but watch out cause I can get out of the bathroom door within 0.1 seconds & then she has to chase me. See, I don't get mad, I just get even for all the times she's messed with my eye!!

It's going to be awhile before she starts to find my perfect home, so you won't hurt my feelings if you keep searching for your baby meezer, as I know my family will come when the time is right.

Zooooooommmmmmm,
Azul

Azul is doing great!! After leaving his safe area he hasn't looked back. He is integrating with Keegan and Lennox very well and they have already taught him a lot. He is eating well and has no issues at the litter box. He has really inspired Keegan. Thanks to everyone who helped make Azul part of our family!!

December 1, 2014. Azul is up to date on shots until next year and he is doing great. He's growing up fast and is at 4 lbs 2 ozs. Getting along great with Lennox and Keegan. Has really helped Keegan get over his depression. Keegan has lost 3 lbs playing with Azul in the first 6 weeks. And boy what a big personality Azul has!! He loves it here. Debi named him correctly: Zoom!! Zoom!! He's living up to his name!! Never even looks at going out of the house through the off limits doors. Thanks to all who helped put our beautiful little family together!!

March 14, 2015: Hard to believe Azul has been with us 6 months!! He's super healthy and active. Gets along great with Keegan and Lennox. He and Keegan are the best of buds and that is what we had hoped. He loves sleeping by my computer in my office. See the pictures. His eye has healed and gives him no problem. Azul does the cutest things. The only bad habit I'd say he has is that he wakes up while sleeping at my computer and then he wants to chase the cursor on the screen. Other than that, he's a perfect little addition to our family!! Thanks to all for bringing us together!!

October 1, 2015: Can't believe we've had this little gentleman firecracker a year!! Azul has been the perfect fit in our home. He's way more than a hand full now!! He gets along great with Keegan and Lennox. They have even lost a little weight with all the playing that has gone on. He loves it here and he demands attention 24-7. Especially about 2:30am. That's okay with us!! I see know what Debbie meant by a bottle fed baby!! We'll keep everyone posted and thanks to all for bringing us together!!

SADIE
A teeny tiny little old lady found wandering around the highways of Central Virginia. I think someone dumped me out at the Sheets because I was getting old :( Really? All I want to do is nap in a bit of sunshine..... I have no politics and am an easy keeper, so anywhere would be fine, if you have a space for 5 pound me?

One month update - I took Sadie to the vet last week for an eye infection. As it is no better I took her back yesterday for a follow-up. He has referred us to an opthalmology specialist, Dr. Munger. He suspects it may be Herpes but wanted a specialist opinion. He said there is nothing you can do for herpes?? Studies show lysine is ineffective. I felt he was very negative about Sadie because she was a "rescue" cat and was happy to be referred elsewhere. He has been my vet for 20 years but I have not liked his attitude of late and will probably be looking for a new vet closer to our new home ! In the meantime, Sadie will go to the specialist !!
Her general behavior has not changed much. Every once in awhile you see a small reaction from you and think yay! a breakthrough but then you don't see it again. She doesn't pur, play or seek human contact except to meow at you at mealtime. She eats and she sleeps. She sleeps a lot ! But we love her and will keep trying. She suffers me picking her up and talking to her now and will sit on my lap for a few minutes if put there. We'll see as time goes on !

LITTLE BONITA
Wanna hear a secret???? Can you keep a secret??? I just overheard my foster mom tell someone I was a "rare find"....yepper...little ole me a rare find! I have all the traits of a wedgie hidden in an applehead face! I wondered how long it would take her to realize my true identity!! I have TALKED, TALKED, TALKED, TALKED, TALKED, TALKED, TALKED, TALKED...did I say TALKED??? You would have thought she would have figured it out sooner!!! So you can just grab your morning cup of coffee or tea, or orange juice & we can chat cause I love to chat & talk!

If you are looking for a CUDDLE BUG EXTRAORDINAIRE, TALKER, LAP CAT, FOLLOW YOU ALL AROUND CAT...HERE I AM! Hurry up & click on that button cause I'm just anxious to TALK, TALK, TALK and TALK some more to ya!!

Oh...just one thing...I am NOT a traveler, so my foster mom wants me to stay close by so I won't get my "catees" in a twitch.

Meows and purrs,

Little Bonita

Notes from Home
Sept 2015: Little Bonita LOVES taking a running jump onto the large cat tree (5 levels) she and Lauren Bear received for Christmas last year. She also LOVES brushy brushy time with our purple rubber pet grooming glove. She reminds me multiple times each day that it's time for brushy brushy. :) Both cats love cat oat grass which I now grow at home. She's very smart, watches TV, very intently watches the birds and squirrels outside, and is still very curious. Her health is perfect. Both she and Lauren are so full of love they make me so happy.

March 2014: Bonita's new favorite toys are my ponytail holders, and the plastic rings from the tops of plastic milk jugs. She attacks them and flips them into the air. HA!

Oct 2013: Bonita is a riot. If she wants attention, she meows loudly and dramatically tosses herself on the kichen floor to show me her belly and say, "Look how CUTE I am, Mommy!" She also snuggles up next to me in the mornings. She likes to play "chase me," where she'll invite me to play, but then when I come closer, leap away, until I've followed her enough and she rolls on the floor as if to say, "You got me!"

Nov 2012: It's been a year! Bonita is "making biscuits" for me more often recently since it's gotten a little colder, and she sleeps right next to me at night, whereas Lauren prefers the strategic position of the end of the bed, and to drop toy mousies in front of me in bed as a wake up so we can all start off each day with a little play time.

July 2012: Bonita also likes to "attack" pillows, pawing them as if there's a mouse inside them. She also likes to sleep on Mommy's pillows, so Mommy ends up sleeping sideways on the bed to accomodate both cats on the bed. :)

11/11/11It's all good! They seem to really like it here, love their beds, talk to
me especially as I'm prepping dinner, and they're very purry. They love to
play with the many toys we have here. We've been to the vet and are on a
worming protocol. They're still good buddies. Bonita is a tiny little love
machine, and Lauren purrs almost all of the time and is so sweet. Everyone
is happy. :)
4/30/12
All is well with Lauren and Little Bonita. I think Lauren overeats a bit, asks for food a lot but doesn't always finish what's in the bowl (so I know she's not starving) and is a tad on the heavy side, but she's not food aggressive. She's also a heavier type of cat (big paws, stockier build in general) so I'm not overly concerned.

I love both Bonita and Lauren!! I tell them every day how adorable they are.

Thanks to Debi, Nancy, and everyone who helped keep Bonita alive while she was so sick, and thanks to Kathi for helping this process move so efficiently. Thanks to Siri for devoting her life to these wonderful kitties. Thanks to all who helped with Little Bonita and Lauren Bear. I love them so much and they'll live and long and happy life here with me.

Nov 18, 2011: The girls are still doing great. We just finished lying on the floor playing with a flying squirrel stuffed animal and now they are chasing each other around the house. :) I'm attaching a few more pictures from a few weeks ago.

Happy Thanksgiving 2011! I am tricky to photograph because I'm so active so I look blurry a lot, but I'm not blurry in real life. :) Here is a picture of me scanning the landscape out the front door - a cat scan! HAHAHA I crack myself and mommy up. :)

Happy Valentine's Day 2012! I just uploaded another picture of Bonita which shows her face pretty well (she had a fever mask when I adopted her). Her nick names are "BoBo, "Little One," and "Silly." She really is silly. If I come up to her she runs a few feet away and if I don't go after her, she stops and waits for me to pick her up- so she likes to play "chase me." She even chases ME around the house- if I scoot upstairs she's right behind me. She also helps me scoop the litter- when I'm headed over to a litter box she runs to get there first. inspects it first, uses it, and helps me clean it. She follows me around the house as I clean them all until we're done. Very funny.
When chasing after a wand she can jump about three feet in the air. She likes to lie by the window in the sun (what cat doesn't?), and still loves watching squirrels. She also loves looking into the bath water when I take a bath. I think she loves water.
Special thanks to Debi and Nancy for pulling her through her URI before I adopted her. I tell both cats daily how cute they are and that I adore them. :)

March 2012: Bonita is still silly. She likes to attack pieces of lint and pounce on paper bags. She is SO CUTE!

June 2012: Bonita is very curious, VERY loving, still small, very sweet. She is a champion at going after the ribbon wands, and she and Lauren like to dive after my hands or feet under the covers. Bonita in particular loves watching the squirrels outside of the sliding glass door in back. Bonita is a sweet, very hugable and a loving little friend. I'm glad I adopted them together because they still get along very well and have each other as friends when I'm at work. I still tell them every day how cute they are, and "how did Mommy get so lucky to have both of you girls?" I love them so much.

MR. B
I finally let Foster Mom get some pretty good pictures of me. She can't get over what an easy going fella I am. Nothing upsets me. I'm eating like I should and using the litterbox and I don't mind the other kitties at all. I just met them so I haven't become buddies with anyone yet, but they seem nice enough so I can definitely live with another cat or two. I like people a lot too. I love to give Foster Mom headbutts and I love it when she pets me. I'll be ready to go home really soon so why don't you ask about me?

Who is that little boy in the picture my foster Mom took? I'm a big cat now! Check out my recent photos and you'll see how handsome I've become. Did I ever tell you why my Mom calls me Mr. B or BB? B stands for Big Bravery. Before I was adopted, my foster mom took me to the hospital and found several BB pellets inside me. That's why my Mom decided to call me Mr. B. I love my family. My sis, Lady, has some temper. I guess that's what a diva does. But I don't mind as long as she'd lick my head whenever I ask her to.

Out on the street on my own, can you imagine how scary that is let alone how scary it is when you can't hear things? I'm a little old lady, yup, but full of loving and snuggling behaviors!

Notes from Home
Betty is doing well. We had her on antibiotics for a UTI which cleared up her incontinence. She did have a grand mal seizure last week, which was awful to see. She fell off the bed, and hurt her back leg so we put her on pain meds for a couple of days and she is no longer limping.
She is eating like a pig, drinking a lot of water, and using the litterbox well. Overall she seems very happy and content, except when her temper flares up! I forgive her though, she's been through a lot.

We hope to keep her happy and healthy for as long as possible. She has gained a little bit of weight, but still feather-lite. She's trusting me more to touch her belly, and sometimes at night crawls up on me to snuggle.

We adore her and glad we can make her happy for her remaining life.
