Notes from Home
Initially, I was concerned tiny Tiger Lily may be unable to stand up to Bodhi's rough play. After 2 weeks of playing footsie & peekaboo under the door, I hesitantly permitted a face to face introduction. Once the Halloween kitty dancing, raccoon tails & hissing standoff subsided, the 2 erupted into a manic game of chase. Their favorite pastimes, other than smushing in the cat condo baskets, is to wrestle in the bathtub and play tag. Princess Lily has developed a very naughty habit of stealing Bodhi's favorite toys and growling vociferously if anyone comes near. She's a spitfire with major 'tude
& the 2 of them delight and entertain us. My Mother & I are smitten with our silly kittens!!

Notes from Home
Samson is doing great on his 4th day here. His appetite is great and is he playing and exploring. He has learned how to climb the bookcases and clean them out for me, turn over the linen hamper just in case I forgot something, and turn over the trashcan too- so helpful! Today he helped me out by taking his cat treats into his play cube and "opened" the package down the back and from underneath so I no longer have to figure out that tricky zipper thing on the top, He has found a favorite perch on the top of the cat tree and is slowly trying out our laps. Otherwise he just purrs and rolls and loves all day long.

Resident diva Delilah has had a brief look or 2 at him, and nope, she's not having any part of him so far. I told her mean girls don't get dates , but she's playing hard to get right now.

9/01/12- Been here a whole week now! I like watching football and baseball with Dad in the recliner now, and dancing shows with Mom . I learned a new trick: if I sit on Mommy's piano and reach out, I can help her save paper by putting it back in that printer machine that keeps spitting it out . Wow- I learned 2 new words too- paper jam.

Been doing great, talking, running, playing. Had a little bit of the runs one day- but that was after that half a bag of cat treats I ate which Meowmy took away.

Met my big sister today and whoa does she have a potty mouth! She said @#$& to me and &*$#!. She chased me and jumped on me and told me to get my &@@## butt back to Virginia, but I said no way, I got 3 hots and a cot here and I like it, so get over it sister. Mommy sent her to time out . I was a good boy too- I don't cuss the ladies and I'm a lover not a fighter. I have no idea what her issue is, but ho hum I just ignored her.

Next week I am going to meet Dr. Maskol on Friday September 7th so he can check out this great bod. I'm not worried though, cus Mommy says I'm just perfect.

Update 9/6/12: Woo Hoo!! Sam spent almost all day out with his new sister and there was only a brief hiss and tussle and posturing. Mostly we are in the " ignoring stage" on her part. He keeps trying to play with her and chase, with a tiny bit of success here and there. He is still learning about where he can and can't jump ( like the stove which he won't quit), so for now he goes to bed alone at night so everyone can get a break.

Update 9/10/12- Samson saw the vet and checked out very well. He weighs 11 lbs 10 oz and the vet thinks 12-13 lbs will be where he should top off for his size. He wasn't thrilled to be examined again and promptly jumped off the vet table. He and Delilah are spending more time together. There is no great love there yet, but their chasing and playing isn't mean any longer and they can sit a foot away from each other without any problems. He continues to amuse us with his " stealing" and moving around of our clothes, dishtowels and pot holders from one place to another at night.
Update 9/23/12: Samson has been here 4 weeks now and is a sweetie pie and a big cuddly baby. He seeks us out for love and is spending more time on the couch next to me and in the chair with his dad. He has figured out when the trash and recycling trucks come, and he loves to sit in the window and watch them. His relationship with Delilah is mostly chasing and play attacking( sometimes at 2 am) , but that seems to suit them both for now. Once in a while she allows him to wash her head, but then she bats him off or knocks him down. He is interested in cuddling with her, but it is going to take more time. He is a big clown, rolling and playing with his toys, dragging his " stolen" clothes upstairs and occasionally he brings me a dishtowel and lays it on my feet. He LOVES to eat and is still stealing Delilahs food, so we have to distract him with toys so she can eat in peace. He loves our 18 month old grandson( runs right up to him) and really enjoyed the baby chasing him and throwing toys to him.

10/15/12 update:

Samson is doing great here. He has established a routine and his favorite places to relax and play. About 2 weeks ago he started getting in bed every night and sleeping more then running around. He decided Delilah's spot is now his own in the bed and although not too happy about it , she has deferred to him. The closest they will sleep near each other is about 4-6 inches. He occasionally gets in her face too much and she slaps him and puts him in his place. He is going through a naughty stage right now( see picture) and getting into things , jumping and sleeping on the kitchen table, running for the door and grabbing our ankles when we walk by. In turn he is also spending all of his time with us, following us everywhere talking , and giving love and kisses 24/7. I never know what he is going to do next, and that's what makes him so special.

12/16/12- Sam continue to settle in and is doing very well, here nearly 4 months now.. He LOVES the Christmas tree and it has become his personal playland much to our distress. He does listen to us on occasion and we have just accepted that he is a push your buttons kind of guy and will always need a few reminders as to how to behave. We guard the doors and the stove and he goes to time out about once a day to allow his sister to eat in peace. They rough house every night and run full speed throughout the house and burn off lots of energy. He spends almost 100% of his time with us though, following us room to room. Most nights he settles in bed, but sometimes he slips and prowls the house and we find things out of place such as clean laundry or towels stuffed under the Christmas tree, an empty tissue box( why?), wrapping paper, you name it , he finds it and hoards it in his playhouse or under the tree right now. He still jams up the printer, stuffing paper back into it .Our life right now is staying one step ahead of this lovable clown. We were heart broken with the loss of our boy Toby last year, so we were sent an angel( a challenging one) to take care of, and I think this is why he came to us.

6 month update 2/24/13:

Samson is doing well and has established himself as the king of the house, especially the kitchen, all the toys, the good spots in the bed, all the food... well everything. He has a strong personality and we have had our disagreements about the rules here.. ours and his ( none), but we work it out. He is lovable and lately has been more talkative and always comical , and entertaining. He is a champion in the litterbox, and although a little picky at times, has a great appetite. He has reached a truce with his sister Delilah and they chase each other just enough to not be bored. We are hopeful that they will have more of a relationship over the next 6 months. He is ALWAYS with one of us and is a great buddy. Thanks to all at SCRC especially foster Mom Nancy for all her help and support.

Update 12/31/13:

Happy New Year to all Meezers and Meezer lovers from Sam. He has been here 16 months now and rules the roost. We love him very much and he is with us 24/7. He has many new nicknames,,, Knucklehead and Mr. Nosypants are 2 that sum him up perfectly. He loves attention, his toys, ALL of the food he can get, snuggling on the couch and in bed, " "his" new birdfeeder, sleeping on the kitchen table and counter surfing. Our lives would surely be boring without him. He and his kitty sister exist fairly well with the occasional slap fest, but he really prefers human company. He had a great Christmas and several times tried to help me out by serving himself from the buffet table.

2 year anniversary 08/25/14: Sam is great, had a good exam and shots at the vet last week except he gained 3/4 lb. Oops! We are limiting his diet again and he's not happy and gets into the pantry and opens up the bag and helps himself, and turned over a trashcan too. He loves everyone, sleeps great at night, is a perfectionist in the litterbox, and plays all day long doing goofy things. His favorite toy is a turkey baster bulb which he carries around and drops down the steps to watch it bounce, then he runs after it. His nearly 12 year old Siamese sister keeps him in line though. He spends his days plotting against her, watching birds and squirrels, , and following us all over the house. Our business is his business 24/7, and we like it that way!

KIT KAT
I'm back in Rescue with my bud Jack Sparrow, and we hope to go back out together. We were only gone a month when it was discovered that we like to have lots of people attention - that we follow you room to room and expect to be treated like the Royal Couple we are. The more you put into us, the more we'll give you back! (might be okay with dogs)

Notes from Home
Three years with Tink (also known as Tinker Cat or Tink the Cat). She actually in the last few months jumped on to my lap. The first time I think she was startled herself and jumped right back down; the second time I was holding a brush so ran it over her...she decided to stay for awhile. She just doesn't like lap sitting very much.

She is still very confident. The cats aren't allowed on the counter, (so you ALL know they never get on them), but after lights are off in the kitchen Tink jumps up there looking for stuff. One time there was a strip of packaging I had cut off some frozen something and hadn't thrown away and she had such a wonderful time with that strip, running around on the floor chasing it and making "come see what I've found" noises, that I now leave something she can "discover" when she's "not on the counter" every night. I hear the thud and then the mewling and Tink running around. She seems to really enjoy it.

Tink is very reserved with strangers. It took her longer to start coming out around people who came to visit than it did Jack, but she still loves dogs.

We added a little blue cat about 15 months ago (he looks alot like a Russian Blue, but if he is I would have thought someone would have been looking for him). He came to us sick with an UTI and Tink absolutely hated him; she was vicious with him long after Jack accepted him. After I got the infection taken care of both Tink and Jack began to get alot better with him, which leads me to think Tink especially smelled his infection and wouldn't accept him because of it. She still slaps at the "new" cat, but seems to be more inclined to tolerate him and now HE is the one who is sometimes defensive around HER. I guess if you have been beaten up enough you don't think you can ever trust the "bully" again. I think this is changing though, because both of them are very playful and I've seen them trying to play a little. With two live wires running around there's never a problem with exercise.

Tink has a VERY good appetite. I have had to start putting out food rather than leaving it down, because she had become quite "fluffy". She loves grooming and petting, but not hugging or head butting. She loves nose licking.

I have lots of pictures of Tink, Jack and T&J together. Have never uploaded pictures before but will try. I have 2 beautiful babies and even tho Tink doesn't have white on her face and I gather that snowshoes are supposed to, I still think she is one of the most beautiful snowshoes I've ever seen. I'm sure others will agree, if I can just figure out posting pictures (LOL!).

Thank you to all of you who helped me adopt these cats. You did a wonderful job of evaluating and advising and I haven't regretted my adoption one bit.

JACK SPARROW
I'm back in Rescue with my buddy Kit Kat; we're looking for a home together if possible, and you might even talk Aunt Siri into a twofer! We are demanding Siamese who will give back whatever you put into us! More as we settle back in! (might be okay with dogs!)

Notes from Home
We are now on year 3 and I just grow more "in love" with this boy daily. In the first year we had our issues; he didn't trust anyone. He is a jealous boy, very moody, but we have progressed now to the point that all the negatives he came with are gone and I can see the cat he was before he had his unsettled times.

He clung to his sister when he first came, but now, even though they are still good friends, they don't hang on to each other so much. As I write this he is asleep on the desk next to the keyboard. He is still a great "head butt-er" and loves to stand on the desk edge and push his head at me. Sometimes it is hard to get any work done.

He had a UTI about two months ago but he's much better now; he didn't enjoy all his shots and he didn't like being shoved in to the carrier (all you cat people out there probably have accurate pictures running through your heads right about now of the battle), but he rides very well and only snarled at the vet when a dog in the waiting room began barking. For all that he is no longer scared of his two canine brothers, he is still wary of them when they come galloping through the house, and is not at all trusting of any other dogs who come to visit (I'm fine with that).

We added a rescue "teenager" to the group about 15 months ago. Found him in a storage bin during a very cold March. No one answered the ad so he became brother to Jack and Tink. Jack didn't like him too much (Tink HATED him), but after I got his UTI fixed they warmed up relatively well. I honestly think they smelled that he was sick when he first came here and wouldn't accept him. I didn't realize he had the problem until he began wetting inappropriately. Now Jack will actually groom him a little; he still terrorizes the little guy, but Jack plays rough and even Tink has enough when he gets wild.

All in all I am so pleased with Jack and his laid back attitude (usually) that I can't imagine NOT having him. He has rewarded my patience by becoming every thing I was told he was or could be; he no longer is afraid of hands and even comes out to visit with people who drop by. He doesn't necessarily want to be touched by them, but he doesn't slap at them immediately any more.

WONDERFUL CAT!! THANK YOU to all of you who worked with him and gave me so much helpful information about him. I will try to upload some pictures of him, if I can figure out how. I have a ridiculous number of them and he is so beautiful I'd like others to see my Handsome Jack (he is still Captain Jack Sparrow, I liked the name, but he is generally called "Handsome Jack").

BEASLEY
Just arrived with my brother Louis, and need to go home with him ! We are quite a pair, outgoing, chatty and full of mischief !
Notes from Home
Beasley (fka George) and his brother, Louie (fka Louis) are thriving, growing like crazy, playing like crazy and have taken over the house. Louie's eye infection looks clear though he has one more week of pills to take. We love them to pieces and Sullivan is gradually learning to cope with them and their enthusiasm. They know their names and have been quick to learn that they aren't allowed on counters or dining tables. We are absolutely thrilled with them! Thanks to all who rescued, treated, fostered and loved them before they came to live with us.

8/26/14 - Louie and Beasley celebrated their one year anniversary with us yesterday. They have grown into gorgeous, smart, entertaining cats and they get along with their big brother, Sullivan, beautifully. Louie gets the Emmy for vocals, Beasley for uniqueness as he entertains us everyday by washing his toys in his water bowl and presenting us with big, wet fuzzy balls! As time goes on, and we continue to experience and observe the SCRC machine that Siri has developed, we never fail to be awed by how smoothly and beautifully the whole thing works to provide these exquisite creatures and lucky people with so much joy! I'm attaching a couple of pictures.

HONEY
I was a little shy when I first arrived now I am wanting the attention foster meowmy is giving me. I love scritches and those temptation treats, you know those with milk in them?!?!

Ask about both my brother and I as we love to play and if you have stairs in your home, even better because we both play fetch, sit and lay down on command.

Honey is also doing very well! She is a lot more skittish, as everyone that helped her knows, but she is warming up well. She is so much more comfortable around the house and doesn't try to hide all the time. She actually slept in bed with me and my boyfriend last night! Surprisingly to me as well, My boyfriend's parents came over to visit and she actually came out to say HI to everyone... I wasn't sure if she would ever come out to greet guests since she seems so much more shy then her brother. She is very playful and is not afraid to ask for a belly rub when she thinks she needs one! She still has her little thin patches of hair but they seem to be getting better. I trust that the more she adjusts the better they will get. I absolutely LOVE these two!!! They are a very sweet and loving pair. They are also both very well behaved which was also a pleasant surprise! I am so grateful I adopted them! We are all doing very well together! I wanted to thank everyone that helped add Bear and Honey to our wonderful little family.

SPENSER
Oh boy oh boy. Don't tell anyone but I let foster mom rub my belly, and it felt pretty good! Me and my sister Lola just came back into rescue. We have been together since we were kittens, but things just didn't work out where we went to live. So here we are again, looking for love, and some chow, and some kind hands, and a place for us to be ourselves. We're both pretty shy, so you'll need to be patient with us. Are you that special person?
Notes from Home
Spenser has been with us 2 weeks now. Oh how cute he is!!!!! He spends a good deal of time under our bed, but he comes out to greet us in the mornings and allows us to pet him. He is becoming less shy every day. He loves to play with Lola at night. He is eating well and uses the litter box regularly. We love his cute little personality. We look forward to spending more time with him when he is ready. We think he is adorable.

Spenser has been with us a month now. He is doing great. He greets me when I get out of bed by meowing and rubbing around my legs. He wants to be petted and I like petting him. He plays with Lola and they run through the house. Sounds like small horses! Spenser is doing just fine and seems happy with us. He might turn into a "lap kittie" yet. He and Lola both sleep with us on our bed sometimes. We love having them with us. Spenser will keep his name too! It fits him well!

Spenser has been with us for 2 months now. We think he is adorable. He meows when he is hungry, and has taken to sleeping in Allen's recliner during the day. He slept on the bed the whole night last night with his sister, Lola and Sherry. He loves to roam the house and explore things. He is playful and loves to play with Lola. We are so happy to have him.

02/21/14 - Wow, it doesn't seem possible that Spenser has been with us over 6 months now. What a sweet cat he is! He has adapted to us so well. He loves to sit on his condo at the window and look out. He loves the feel of the sun coming in on him. He doesn't hide under the bed anymore, unless a stranger comes in the house. He meows in the morning until I give him a tablespoon or two of milk. He rubs up against us when we feed him, as if to say thank you! For the last week now, he has gotten up on Allen's lap and laid down to sleep. That sure tickled Allen. A month ago, he was having trouble breathing, so we took him to the vet. They did a chest x-ray and discovered he had asthma. They gave him 2 shots and meds to go home with. They said if we had scented litter, to get rid of it and see what happens. Well, lo and behold, the very next day after we put in unscented litter, he was breathing just fine! He loves to play with his sister, Lola, and seems to be very much at home with us. We are so glad to have him.

08/2414 - Time sure does fly by! Spenser has been with us one year this month! What a little sweetie he is. He now gets up in Sherry's chair when Lola isn't there and sits by her while we watch t.v. His allergies are under control and he is healthy and beautiful. Spenser has such a cute little face. He now likes to be petted by us both. He comes to the living room or kitchen late at night and rubs around Allen's legs to be petted. He still loves just a little milk in the morning, and eats well. He uses the litter box consistently. He is no trouble at all. We enjoy watching him play with his toys or with Lola. Sometimes, he and his sister, Lola will sit on their condos and look out the front door at the birds. We are so very please to have Spenser. He is a wonderful companion.

LOLA
I'm a deep, dark sealy girl, and me and my brother Spenser are just getting used to this new hotel we're staying at. But we have our things, so it smells like us. So it must not be too bad.

Spenser and I were adopted together when we were kittens, but it just didn't work out, so here we are again looking for love. We were strays when we were kittens, and so we're not very trustful sometimes. Can you be patient with us while we keep learning that people are good? We love each other, so we want to stick together.

Notes from Home
Lola Welsh has been with us for 2 weeks now. She has gone from hiding under our bed to greeting each of us in the morning and spending time with us during the day. She loves to be petted when she is in the mood. She is eating well, using her litter box and playing hardy with Spenser at night. We are more than pleased with Lola and are looking forward to many fun surprises. She is well behaved and beautiful.

Lola has been with us for a month now. She is not as shy as before and is out and about daily. She likes to play and run through the house. The loves to be petted more often now and likes to lay on a red blanket we have. She almost got up in Sherry's lap the other day. Everything is going fine. Lola and Spenser seem happy and love playing together. We are not changing Lola's name. We like her name.

We have had Lola for 2 months now, and we couldn't be happier. She roams the house at ease, and sleeps at the front door where she can look out, or in Sherry's recliner. She now sleeps on our bed at night. She is a beautiful cat and we are so glad we found her.

02/21/14 - Wow, it is so hard to believe that Lola has been with us over 6 months now! We love her so much! She has taken to Sherry and follows her around the house. She likes to sit beside Sherry in the recliner. We have never heard her meow, but she makes a chirping sound when she get into our chair. She likes to sit on her condo and look out the window when the sun is shining. She likes to sleep in between Allen and Sherry at night. She laid on Sherry's lap for the first time last night. She is healthy and a beautiful cat, indeed. We love having her and watching her play with her brother, Spenser. We are so thankful to have them both.

082414 - Time is sure flying by! We have had Lola one year this month! We have both fallen in love with her and enjoy her company so much. Lola now chirps when she sees birds outside the front door. She chirps when she jumps up in Sherry's chair to lay down by Sherry. Whenever we go to bed, Lola follows us to the bedroom and jumps up on the bed. She likes to lay between us and be petted by us both. When Allen is working at night, Lola sleeps with Sherry by Allen's pillow all night. She is much more relaxed with us and lets us pet her frequently. When Allen is up late at night, Lola comes out to the living room or kitchen and rubs all around his legs to be petted. She is healthy and beautiful. We love to watch her play with her toys, as she gets very verbal, so to speak! She plays with her brother Spenser on a daily basis. They get along so well. She uses the litter box completely and is no trouble at all. We are so very happy to have Lola!

Yes, sister Ling Ling is right. I do like to chat, but I wouldnt call myself loud! And Im quicker to explore than she is, and like to wander around and check things out. And that includes people once Ive settled in Im quick to make friends with everyone I meet. Were both proper ladies in the litter box (was that even necessary to ask??). We are using the cat trees for our claws. We spend lots of time together, and sleep together. We both love laps, and need a new home to call our own. Weve been well loved kitties our entire lives. We both just had our senior wellness panels done, and we are in very good shape for our age. We are past the curtain climbing, crazed kitten stage, and prefer the comfort of a lap or laps to running wildly through the house. Catnip toys are good though, as is a nice can of Fancy Feast! If you need a very lovely pair of lap warmers, then be sure to ask about us. Foster mom will be happy to send a copy of our bloodwork results to you and your vet. Need the perfect pair of lovely sisters? Then why havent you asked about us?

Notes from Home
Hello Everyone from me, Sushi! Did Ling Ling tell you how much I like this new home? We both are so happy to be here and have so many new friends who come by to admire us! Even our new vet, Lynne, was so impressed with our svelte and beautiful selves that she picked us right up and gave us kisses!
Ling Lind and I LOVE our new Millie beds and the nice kitty heating pads that go underneath. Mom sometimes finds us gazing out the window at all the snow, but mostly we are so cozy together in one bed, that we are happy to stay there unless FOOD is part of the moment! We love both our old and our new toys too. Thank you SCRC crafters, for all the love that went into making them for us! Jackie did such a good job fostering us that we are taking all the changes in our lives in stride! THANK YOU SCRC!

Mar 22: My Dad is sitting at his desk doing taxes and I am sitting in the window watching the snow come down, yet again. Does it ever become spring here in Vermont? Ling Ling and I are doing super here and we purr a lot these days! We are getting to know new family members and finding new toys to play with too. Our crocheted wands and mice are fun but we like it best when Mom & Dad love us up! Hello to all of our fosters and friends who helped find this new Vermont home. This is a great place to retire, and we like our new Mom & Dad! Happy springtime to everyone!

April 9: Hello hello! I am now 13 years old and proud of it! Ling Ling and I still stick together like glue. We still share a Millie bed and eat off the same dish. Mom is experimenting with new flavors of Fancy Feast, some of which are yummy, but not every one. We still get hissy when some of the cats and the collies are around, but we are getting used to it. Our new play structure is wonderful and we so enjoy food time and especially nap time in the sunshine! Hugs and purrs to everyone and Happy Springtime to All!

August 23: Hi to everyone! I am so happy to be here in Vermont! The food is great, the loving is super, and the coat brushings are tolerable. Mom & Dad keep our claws trimmed so we can walk on the looped carpet OK. It is hard to believe we two ladies have been here 6 months already! We spend most of our days enjoying our millie bed to the max. The new litter, Clump & Seal, works wonderfully and the "stinkies" get scooped out twice a day, so all is good these days. Mom says the expensive litter is worth the high price.... it is so good! And of course we two ladies "are worth very penny," she says.
I, Sushi, look right into Mom's eyes when she is loving me, but I am also happy when she puts me down. That Ling Ling sister of mine rubs legs and pushes into her hands, but not me! I have turned into the conservative of the two of us! But that is OK because Mom knows I have a touch of arthritis, .......so I get medicine on some rainy days when I get a bit stiff, just like my Mom. She is really tuned into my joint pains, and that is good. All told, I am a happy sweetie pie who is so glad to have my pal Ling Ling here too!
