20 January 2019 - Snorri (formerly Squeaks) has been happily settling into his new home for just over a week now. He’s sweet, playful, and affectionate 😊 Snorri has already identified a few choice places to nap and some favorite toys with which to play. He still loves his food (a little too much) and is trying to figure out how to make those tricky treat balls give up their yummy kibble😉 We’ll get there! Next Saturday he has his first vet check up, so we’ll let everybody know how it goes.

3 February 2019 - Apologies that this update is week late. Snorri had a good wellness check with his vet last Saturday:) He was a big hit with all of the vet techs who kept commenting on how handsome he is;). His cute antics did not stop the vet from putting him on a diet, however. Snorri is now on half a cup of food for the foreseeable future. Sorry buddy😕. He is continuing to settle in nicely at home, enjoying his bed by the fire and warm laps in which to cuddle during the cold weather outside. Pics atrached:)

LUCAS
Outgoing boy who will be a tiny bit nervous at first, I'd like to go home with my sister Camila. We've lived in a home with just each other as far as felines go, so let's keep it that way, but we are well versed in those woofy things. Older kids would be fine, we are the tiniest bit nervous at first but as Aunt Siri says, it's all hot air. I'm quick to meet and greet and explore, and lots of headbutts are included.

Notes from Home
I had to say goodbye to Leo on 1//25/19. About 6 weeks after his diabetes went into remission he got lymphoma. He was a fighter but it was too much for him - he was loved and will be missed.

9/25/18
It’s been a rollercoaster year with Leo’s heath this year. Leo was diagnosed with diabetes, he has kidney disease so I knew it would be more complicated; he’s now in remission. I emailed the meezermeos group about feline diabetes. I cannot thank Lois Gruendl enough for talking and face-timing with me to help me learn how to do the blood count. I really believe doing the blood count helped save his life. I was able to take blood counts twice a day and do blood curves at home. Leo’s diabetes was never able to become regulated, he could be high 500’s in morning and then low 40s that evening. His Vet kept changing the insulin level and after 5 months I went to the specialist that also monitors his kidney disease. When I went to specialist she looked at blood log and was able to point to it and say he went into remission 5 days ago! He’s been insulin free since :) I do his blood count once a week since we don’t know how long his remission will last. Recently he started having stomach issues – yesterday he started on Pepcid AC for next few days. Hopefully that solves his issue but if not he’ll go in for some tests; his blood tests all came back great when he has his 6-month visit so hopefully its nothing serious. Leo is a sweet vocal boy and has become even more attached to me over this year. He never became a lap cat, he’s more an at your feet cat. He sweet and loving to everyone except his Vet and techs. Leo is now very thin; he was almost 17 pounds when adopted, kept him at a lean 14½ pounds for years now he’s less than 12 pounds. I couldn’t have asked for a better cat, thank you everyone who helped save him and get him in your program can’t believe its 7 years.

9/27/17
Leo was diagnosed with Kidney disease, but is doing very well. My vet felt he needed a cleaning so he had it done yesterday and is good for next few years. Leo has always LOVED food, so switching him to KD food was not a problem. He is a happy, playful cat that loves everyone he meets except the Vet and Vet tech! He is a momma’s boy now and follows me in every room. He never became a lap sitter but is always by my feet. He is sweet and I’m so grateful to have him.

9/24/16
Leo is doing great and I couldn’t have asked for a better cat. He’s not a lap cat but always by me and lets me know if he feels he’s not getting enough attention! His lab work came back great with all levels within normal ranges. His teeth were cleaned this week. His allergy was bad this year but with the tropical medicine it’s staying under control. Leo is a wonderful cat and can’t believe it’s been 5 years since he first came home . Thank you to everyone who helped him get in program and helped get him to NC.

9/25/15
Leo is doing wonderful. Leo is happy and has maintained his weight loss. He never became a lap cat, but he allows me to pick him up each day to rub his neck and ears. If I don’t pick him up in morning he will talk until I do, but he won’t jump in my lap. His allergy is under control, each spring it flares up but I have the routine down for the 4 months it affects him. Leo has learned over the last 4 years to play and enjoy watching the birds and he now has a voice. He is a GREAT cat and couldn’t be happier. His lab work this year came back a little high in one test for his kidneys so his blood work will be done again 3 months to be monitored.

9/28/14
Leo had his visit with the vet and he has decided he does not like anyone in the office; he hisses and growls at everyone but never goes to bite them. He is normally the sweet and very calm – everyone that comes to my home falls in love with him. Leo is doing great, he lost his extra weight and has maintained. He loves to play and had found his voice, if he feels he is not getting enough attention! His allergy was environmental not food and its staying under control with the tropical medicine as needed. He has never become a lap cat but he stays by my feet and legs – he is a wonderful cat.

9/24/13
Leo is doing great. He is sweet, gentle and loves everyone. Leo does know he is home and he is happy, playing and keeping his weight to 14 pounds! In two years he has lost over 2 pounds and is so much more active now. Leo is not a lap cat, but he follows me into every room and sits next to my feet. This year Leo had really bad acne that was not clearing up, his vet recommended he see a dermatologist. He went and it turned out his does have an allergy, but not a food allergy. His skin and ears have cleared up; the dermatologist has a soft spot for Siamese so Leo has her wrapped around his paws.
Leo went for his yearly check up and his blood came back with high calcium levels. He had to have an additional blood test (ionized calcium) and it was determined that the calcium level is higher than average, but his vet does not believe it’s a concern after consulting with some colleagues. Leo will need to be checked if I notice any specific changes, but this should not be a concern.
Leo is a great cat and I’m lucky to have found him. Thank you to everyone for all you do to help save these cats; Leo is one of the lucky cats to be able to be part of this great rescue.

9/24/12
Leo is doing wonderful. He had his yearly check-up 2-weeks ago and his blood work came back perfect. He cried when the technician touched him and then he decided that he was not going to let them touch him so it was a challenging visit! Aside from the technical at the Vet – Leo seems to love everyone he meets.
Leo is maintaining his new slim 14 pound weight; he doesn’t beg with me anymore but he loves food and stares when you eat a cookie or chip. Leo has learned over the past year about screen doors and being able to see and listen to the birds and squirrels in the back yard. Leo loves being brushed everyday and plays hide-n-seek everyday so you chase him. Leo is not a lap cat but he sleeps every night on the bed and lays on sofa/chair by your feet. Leo follows me from room-to-room.

Leo is a great cat and I’m very lucky to have found him; he is in his forever home and I believe he knows it. Thank you for helping me find him.

7/2/12
Leo is doing wonderful and is now down to a slim 14 pounds. His Vet said 13.5 - 14 pounds is ideal for him due to his bone structure. Leo had a road trip recently from NC to Florida to visit my family. Leo complained @ 71/2 hours of the 9-hour drive. I did get a drug to reduce the anxiety from his Vet but it did not seem to help him. I think he has fear that he is going to be abandoned again but I am hoping this will lessen over time. However once in my parents’ house he acted as if he lived there forever and was happy from the moment he was out of his travel case. Leo is very social and loves to interact with everyone. I think he was hoping for some extra food being slipped his way! Leo does prefer ‘older’ humans not sure if his original owner was older. Everyone loved him and my parents suggested I leave him there since they are home all day and he seems to love Florida. I was nervous about the ride home but he actually slept for almost the full 10-hour drive and never complained once. Once he was home, he acted as if he had never left and went back to his normal routine; Nancy

5/12/12
This morning when I was reading the newspaper at the kitchen island. Leo started to talk so I moved the other chair out so he could sit on it. To my surprise he climbed into my lap! This was the first time he has every climbed into my lap. I’m sure he wanted to see if there was any food; he is not given any ‘people’ food but he still asks; carryover from his past. When he realized there was just the newspaper he curled into a little ball so I could pet him and stayed about 10 minutes. I guess there is still hope that maybe he may become a lap sitter. Lap sitter or not - Leo is a wonderful cat and I know how lucky I am to have gotten him. Thanks Nancy

3/24/12
Leo is doing great – it’s amazing that he is here 6 wonderful months! Kathi M. did say that his ‘true’ personality would come out over time. He is still sweet, gentle, and so easy going. What has changed is now he plays like a mad man – running and batting fuzzy mice and balls around the house. Every morning after I come out of the shower he uses the bed as a trampoline jumping to catch his toy that he throws in the air as he talks to me to toss it to him.

Leo is still on his diet and is losing weight; slowly but his vet is happy with his weight lose. Leo still talks /cry for more food and sits by pantry door where his food is kept. Leo is not a lap sitter, however if I don’t pick him up in the morning and pet under his neck he will sit by my feet and talk non-stop until I do. Leo is starting to lie on top of my legs so he may decide to become a lap sitter. Leo has learned to enjoy sitting by screen door and watching the birds and squirrels outside. .

When I first got Leo whenever he saw a tin foil/saran box he would run out of room and hide under the bed. Now he still runs out of room but he peaks his head into kitchen to see what I’m doing and once box is gone comes back into kitchen. I’m not sure if that will ever change but I think he realizes that he is safe here.

Thank you to all the volunteers for everything you do - Leo he is an amazing cat and I so lucky to have him. Nancy

12/30/11
Leo has been in his forever home for 3 months and he is such a great kitty. Leo has started to sleep next to my legs at night while watching TV instead of being by my feet. He is not a lap cat but he lets me pick him up and scratch his neck; he now stays on my lap for around 15 minutes before he jumps down. Leo’s dieting is going slower than I expected but his Vet is happy with the weight loss so far. His Vet tweaked the portions a little and he goes back in two months for another weigh-in. Leo was boarded for 4 days over Christmas; I was nervous on how he would be since he was given up at a shelter. His Vet said he did really well with boarding and the only time he was not happy was when he food was not given to him the morning he had his teeth cleaned! Several of the staff at the Vet office commented about how loud he purrs when his neck is being scratched. When he came home he acted like he was never boarded and went straight to his normal routine. Thank you again for helping me adopt such a wonderful kitty. Have a wonderful New Year. Nancy

Hi,
Leo was sweet boy on day one. It’s amazing to see him understand that he is in his forever home; every day he gets more playful and loving. He now gets his ball out of the basket to play every night. It is amazing to see him so playful; he is very active for being 6 years old and a big boy. There are nights that he is batting the ball until he tries himself out and then he takes a nap!
Leo is very friendly with everyone; he wants everyone to scratch his neck. My parents came to town for a couple of days and they fell in love with him. This is saying a lot since my Mom is not a cat person.
Leo is still begging but once I say No he goes and lies down by my feet. When he first came home he would beg with his ‘loud’ voice to me and carry on for the entire meal; that lasted about a week. Leo is not a lap cap, he will follow me into every room but he lies by my feet. He will let me pick him up and scratch his neck, but after a few minutes he wants down. He goes to the vet in December and they will weigh him to see how the dieting is doing and if I need to tweak anything.
Thanks you all again for accepting him into your program. Leo is such a wonderful kitty; Nancy

GEORGE ORWELL
This foster home a pretty good gig. Plenty of food and lots of love. Speaking of love, I really like to be petted, and I don't mind being held. I'm a pretty laid back kinda guy, and I even have a few words of conversation now and then. I was a stray but foster mom says I must have belonged to somebody because I'm so nice! I met the dog here, and she's not so bad. I get along with all the cats too! Do you have room in your heart for a handsome boy with big blue eyes to gaze into? That's me!

Notes from Home
Jan'19
I'm sad to report that Georgie took his last breath on earth this afternoon. After a gallant effort, he finally succumbed to bowel cancer. In the past week, it just became too much for him and I finally had to say goobye to my sweet loving boy. He was a wonderful good-natured soul and I feel thankful that I could provide a warm loving home for his senior years. My other cat Maggie & I will miss him terribly.

Aug'18 @ 2 yrs 3 mos
Georgie is happy but does continue to be plagued with health issues. Unfortunately, he has been diagnosed with bowel cancer but has been been getting the very best medical care. Over the last couple years, he's seen all the specialists - from an echocardiogram to check on his heart murmur to an ultrasound to check on his extremely thickened bowels. He's on medicine for protein deficiencies and B-vitamin deficiencies, plus probiotics and special food. We are now trying Lukeran and steroids for the cancer.
Once, when doing an X-ray, we discovered he had BB gun pellets in him that had been healed over years ago. Isnt that absolutely horrible? The pellets don't seem to bother him so with his other health issues, we decided not to try and remove them. So glad Siamese Rescue found him and so he can be in a soft comfy home for his senior years and no longer out on the mean streets!
On the plus side, he seems wonderfully happy. He loves to sit on his scratching post and watch out the window. He loves to cuddle and groom with Maggie. He loves to sit on my lap purring. He loves full body massages with under the chin/neck scritches. Mind and mood are good – now only if his body would keep up.

Nov'16 @ 6.5 months
George Orwell is happy and secure. Even though he integrated very quickly, it's interesting that I can still see little bits of additional relaxation with each passing day. He used to always stand up when I petted him. Now, he is comfortable remaining lying down and just lifting his head. He now loves to stretch out and have his chin and neck rubbed whereas he used to be more comfortable sticking with head petting and behind his ears. He used to trot fast when traveling between rooms. Now he is more likely to saunter or pause in the hallway just because he feels like it.
We had a breakthrough in nail clipping thanks to Maggie. One day, Maggie saw that Georgie was nervous when I was clipping his nails. So, she came over and inserted herself to have hers done. She sat purring and blinking her eyes at Georgie while I clipped her nails. He watched the process very intently. Then, when her turn was over, he came over to have his finished too. Since then, it's been much easier. I can't say he likes it, but he's much less anxious about it since Maggie showed him that it is ok.
Georgie likes to be close to both Maggie and me. He often sits with a paw or his tail touching one of us. Georgie would like the whole family to hang out in the same room all the time. If Maggie has gone to sleep in the bedroom and I am out in the living room, Georgie will check both places and rub up against me demanding attention. If I then go move to the bedroom to read my book, Georgie settles down next to us and purrs and purrs with the joy of having his whole family together. Thy make a great team: Georgie just wants to belong and Maggie wants everyone to be happy.
Georgie still has his pot belly but his digestion has stabilized and he is otherwise healthy.

Sept'16 @ 4.5 months
Georgie is doing splendidly. His protein counts on his last vet visit were normal and his pot belly has reduced slightly. He's gained more than a pound and a lot of it is muscle. His neck, shoulders and spine are not as boney and he seems stronger too. His fur has also grown thicker, plush and soft. His poo is still quite stinky/sometime wet and his tummy is gurgley so we're going to try a probiotic.

He and Maggie are friends now. They don't nap touching each other, but they like to be nearby. Georgie is still a bit possessive about human attention and toys and Maggie is still trying to convince him to wrestle more often and more gently, but their interactions are all positive. Lots of mutual grooming is always occurring. I'm still using the Feliway multicat diffuser, but only at night. Georgie is such a sweet soul and loves to get pets from everyone who comes over. Maggie and I love him very much.
----------
Sat 6/25/16 @ 7 weeks
Georgie is a very enthusiastic groomer. He likes to give sweeping sloppy wet licks, which Maggie finds a bit much. Maggie thinks aggressive grooming means playtime and sometimes rolls over to try and play which confuses him. But other times, Maggie will only let him get in a couple good licks before she walks away. They are still figuring each other out.
Georgie is squirmy when picked up but we're working on that. He really likes it once he's up on the shoulder, but he is unsure of the getting there part. He loves to be petted and purrs at even the slightest touch. He always goes to get a quick snack after any petting/attention so there's some psychological connection there from before rescue.
Unfortunately, the fluid in his abdomen is still there. He has wet poo and puking from time to time but I can't quite see a pattern in what is setting it off. His stomach is less gurgley on 100% wet food and anything with fish seems to be a no-no but the rest is still a mystery. We go to the vet next week for a blood test to see if there has been any progress in the protein numbers.
----------
Sat 5/14/16 @ 1 week
Integration is progressing beautifully. I got Georgie to play in front of Maggie, and that has made a huge difference. Georgie is motivated by food but Maggie is motivated by play. I'll keep him away from the bedroom a couple more days because Maggie did hiss and get upset when she saw him on the bed. This morning, I woke up to find that Georgie escaped his isolation room and was sitting calmly on the couch. The stacked baby gates were still in place so he has obviously figured how to climb them and squeeze through the small gap near the top of the door. So much for that strategy. I'll have to go back to a closed door for time outs.

------
Mon 5/9/16 @24 hours
Georgie (Linc) has eaten, had lots of water and used his box. He's very affectionate and loves his new mille bed (thanks SR!). So far, he's much more interested in food and petting than toys. Georgie and Maggie have already made eye contact through the baby gate and both are reacting positively. I hadn't intended to let them catch sight of each other so quickly but both cats are already willing to be petted and purr while sniffing at the door and to eat right next to the door. Not a single hiss or growl so far. Maggie is sitting calmly and giving eye blinks and Georgie is lowering his head and rubbing it against the door.

Notes from Home
It has been 1 month since adopting Lanna. She is now called Layla. Close enough name, but I kept saying layla instead of lanna, so it stuck! She is quite a southern belle!
Amber boy and her get along just fine. Amber is the calm older brother , orange tabby. He watches out for her, and tries to show her the ropes for the house, and she tends to follow his lead. They share the cat tree, but layla tries to move Amber out of his top seat, he either decides to stay and push her back to the lower level, or just move and curl up under the curtain...which she prefers to eventually lay next to him by the curtain. They run and play up and down the hallway and steps! Layla holds her own to what appears rough play by larger Amber , and sometimes she approaches him and jumps on his back for a play attack!
Her favorite toy is a squeaky mouse on a string that hangs off a door, but quickly she breaks it away, carrying that mouse all over the place, making all kinds of talking noises to show us her prey. I have to hide it a night, otherwise I wake up at 1 am to her chatter about this squeaky mouse! She is talking a lot more, and makes quite a fuss over feeding time . amber has learned how to sit quietly before getting his food dish, and just last weekend Layla sat on command and waited for her dish! Both cats at the same time, yeah!
She has seen the faucet running water for the first time, it scared her, just like the shower. Still too little to jump up on the cabinets , thank goodness, little thing!
Now that I found this page for updates, will add on as I see fit.
Thank you all for your help in bringing little lady Princess Layla to my home!
Will send a picture soon
Vicki
Addendum:
Layla is a ball of energy, and she chats about whatever is on her mind. . She is not too much of a lap cat now, too interested in exploring or finding something to play with. Granted, she likes to be held and carried around ( while she is checking things out at her new height in my arms) . Is calm about being held, but, she lasts all of 2 minutes in my lap, purring the whole time, but she is off my lap to play with something. It took her a few weeks to figure out when my car pulls into the garage, but as of 1 week ago, she is now the first one to the door to greet me , talking ! I always take time to greet each cat one by one, holding then and petting them hello! Layla is chatting and purring, Amber is purring (he doesn't talk much)
Poor Amber - he is a calm cat, and does a great job in tolerating Layla's energy. She rubs against him a lot, meowing, and he turns his head to avoid her constant tail flicking his face. His tail is also fair game for her to play with. Amber takes the toilet paper off the roll, and then pushes it under the door to Layla, who pulls it from under the door to distribute it all over the room. What a system!
Layla tends to follow me around more in the last week, instead of following Amber, who is more independent.
Bedtime, once I turn off the TV and say "goodnight " Amber goes to his usual place on the bed next to me. Due to layla wanting to play while he wants to sleep, he will move to a chair next to the bed. Layla will then calm down, and go to sleep in the cat tree downstairs, but sometime during the early morning, make her way to the bedroom, where the 2 of them start the roughhousing , bunny kicking, hide n seek and attack, chasing each other all over the place. Amber is twice as big as Layla, so I feel sorry for her when he gets a little rough, his weight must be heavy for her...and I hear her give a little cry..but she is fast, and runs under the bed for a time out. Then she runs out and initiates an attack on Amber, and she chases him.
Funny, in the morning, Amber does not want Layla on the bed, and will "guard" the bed. All is ok once we head down the steps for breakfast. So, mornings are quite active around here.
Wonder is she will will grow any more. She has gotten a little larger than when I got her 1 month ago.
Vicki

Foster Notes

SIBYLLA
Hello?

Is there anybody out there?

I've been at my foster meowmy's house for quite some time now and would really love to find a home of my very own for Danny & I. We are BFFs! We are a wonderful pair of kittens who love to play and really love to purr. We enjoy being near our people, playing or snuggling. We get along with cats, dogs, and love people. We also have perfect litter box habits. If you are looking for a purrfect pair, ask about us - just one click for Danny or I will get you info on both of us! Here's some more info about me......

I am a very sweet girl who is quite calm as kittens go. Oh, I do love to play, I have a refined playfulness, not that crazy stuff that my best friend, Danny, does....he makes me tired just watching him! Anyway, I play with toys, wands, paper towels, and Danny, too. I can get crazy at times, but I know when it's appropriate and when it's not.

And I am snuggly - very, very snuggly. I prefer snuggles over play. I have a nice, gentle purr that I sing when I'm happy, which is most of the time. I enjoy pets, being held, being carried, but, most of all, snuggles. I just love snuggles!

And I'm GORGEOUS!

Oh, there is one very important detail that you need to know. Despite that Danny's craziness, he is my very best friend and I must be adopted with him - we're a pair....and an awesome pair at that!!!

So what should you do? Well click on me to learn more!

Cuddles & Kisses,

Sandy

Notes from Home
A delightful loving girl. Her name has changed to Sibylla Rose.

She is bonded with Daniel Francis. We are so happy to have Daniel and Sibylla in our home.

Good morning Foster Mommie,

We wanted to let you know we are doing great. We love our new home. We have visitors almost every day and they all come with a bag filled with toys and treats. Mommie and Daddy don't let us have all the toys at once. Today we had brushing and some nail clipping. Both of us were a bit wiggly for the nail clipping, and Mommie did not finish the job! We have yummy food, mostly dry food and a bit of Fancy Feast. We also have treats when we use our scratching posts. Mommie and Daddy are so pleased when we use our posts.

Mommie and Daddy want you to know what a great job you did fostering us. They said we are such sweet kitties and they attribute that to the good care you provided us. Mommie and Daddy said the write up about us is very, very accurate. I, Daniel, continue to be in my crazy play mode. I run and play and love my wand toy and my spiders. I still growl when I play with my spiders. My purr is very loud, as you know. I, Sibylla, remain the perfect lady that I am. Daniel is crazy, but I love him and he makes Mommie and Daddy laugh. I am still a bit shy, but Mommie and Daddy are so very nice.

Thank you Foster Mommie for taking good care of us. We send you XXOO and purrs.

Sibylla and Daniel.

Hello from Sibylla,

I am in my forever home for a month. Life is grand. My forever parents are very nice to me and I love them.

I am still the sweet girl I was when I was with foster mommie. I am not as shy and love to cuddle on the chair in the family room. I love playing with Daniel. We spar and tumble and this is very entertaining to our wonderful parents.

I am a very good girl. I don't scratch the furniture, and litter box with the best of habits.

Today is my first Super Bowl. Don't know what that is, but I know food is involved and I am very interested!

My mommie will upload some pictures.

DANIEL
Hello out there?

Is there anybody out there who might want a pair of fun loving kittens?

You see, me and my bff, Sandy, have been waiting quite some time for our forever family to choose us. We love it at foster meowmy's house, but are ready to be in our very own home with our very own family. If you would like a really nice pair of kittens - playful, affectionate, sweet, and entertaining - then you need to ask about us! One click for Sandy or I is all it takes to ask about both of us. Here is a little more about me.....

I'm a fun-loving guy who is so entertaining, there's no tv necessary! I love playing, playing and then playing some more! I am very active and energetic most of the time.

And then I tire out.....

And I begin to purr so loud you'll wonder if an airplane is taking off! That's when I get really snuggly and just want to be petted and held in your arms.

So, let's review: fun-loving, entertaining, playful, active, energetic, loud purr, snuggly, loves pets and being held.....what's not to like?!!!

And I'm GORGEOUS!

One more thing - and this is important, so pay attention! I have a best friend named Sandy and I love her so much that she and I must go together as a pair.

Ask about me today!!! That's right - click that button.....right now....JUST DO IT!!!

Purrs & Snuggles,

Danny

Notes from Home
Lyla was described as sweet in her adoption bio. And boy, is she ever. So pretty and soft. It took her awhile to warm up to me. I have thyroid problems and they were undiagnosed when we adopted her. I guess she could smell it or something because she didn't want anything to do with me. But she would demand pets from everyone who entered our home. As soon as I had radiation on my thyroid, I mean the very day I had it done, she was insistent that I give her pets and snuggles. But I couldn't for 2 weeks because I was radioactive. Ever since then, we've been besties and snugglers. She loves to watch me cook and sew. I had to get Lyla her own chair so she could sit next to me while I worked. She loves sleeping in my fancy fabric pile. Very Marie Antoinette. I bought her a chaise lounge on clearance. When she sleeps there, it's very, 'Let them eat cake!' It's quite amusing. She has a million different hiding places and I still haven't found them all. She sneaks off to nap and we'll go half the day without seeing her sometimes. She's very private. I leash trained her and she loves to explore outside. She even runs up to me when she sees or hears the harness jingle. She's a little murder machine. Moths and houseflies don't stand a chance. We keep her on the leash outside, mainly for the wildlife's sake. Thankfully, she's never killed anything besides the bugs that come into the house. We travel a great deal. She's good on long distance drives. We took her to Louisiana and back one year for Christmas. And several times to New Jersey and South Carolina. She's quite adaptable. I don't like boarding her or Lafitte. They act strange for a long while the couple of times we had to. It's much easier when they come with us. I like to think of travel as enrichment for them.

LAFITTE
Just arrived and I'm confused and sad and recovering from my neuter surgery. I've had a lot of changes: my owner gave me to a friend but she got evicted from her home and took me to the shelter. Luckily, I got evaluated for Siamese Rescue as soon as I came in, so I didn't have to stay in that shelter for more than a few days.

Meowm says I'm a sweet, young boy with deep blue eyes. I let her hold me and comfort me last night and this morning, but I am really scared right now. She told me that life will get better now. More later after I've had a chance to get my bearings.

1/1/13: I have relaxed a bit and now will come out for pets when Meowm visits me. I like to be petted, enjoy the zoom groom and will climb up for headbutts. But I am young and it appears I may have been loved on a bit too aggressively in my previous home. This means I don't have a lot of patience and I'm not very good at letting meowm know when I've had enough attention before I'm mad about it. Meowm says I'm young enough that I can learn more polite behavior but I might need an experienced purrson who is willing to teach me some manners.

1/4 Meowmy moved me to the big foster room this morning. I got nervous again and hid all day. I finally came out this evening and ate a little bit, and explored the room while she talked to me. She says I'm just young and life is a little scary when you don't have much experience and what you have had hasn't been that good. She told me that once I have a forever home, I won't have to worry and be nervous. She knows I like to play with toys: I woke her up at 5 a.m. playing ball in the iso room! I was making a real racket batting a plastic ball back and forth on the tile floor. Meomy said she's going to make a video of me this weekend and take some more pictures.

1/6 I have a video!

Foster Notes

This cat is not suitable for children under the age of 5 (ie 5 and over is OK). This is typically a cat that is shy and a child might scare it, or one that has a potential to bite or play too hardNot with kids under 5

Notes from Home
Lafitte was labeled as a problem kitty. He was aggressive towards women and he had no tell before he bit or scratched. We slowly rehabilitated, or rather, he rehabilitated himself to be with the Hubster. Lafitte loves my husband so much. Lafitte turned out to be so funny and sweet, under all that aggression. He slowly warmed up to me and now, we're sweethearts. He cuddles and snuggles with me nearly as much as he does with the Hubster. Lafitte still suffers from anxiety, which unfortunately comes out as hissing, scratches, and bites. But now, he has tells. We back off when he's over stimulated. We like to describe him as equal parts anxiety and Dark Matter, because although he is only 11 lbs., when he sleeps on top or squished up next to you, he is so heavy. But even with the anxiety, we still make sure he has new experiences. He's leash trained, though he is not keen on the lead touching his back. He's usually content to sleep on the patio cushions when we're outside. And he's great on long car trips. We like to travel, so we made sure he was used to coming with us. Lafitte is a changeling. And sometimes, doesn't look quite like a cat. He reminds us of the Luck Dragon for The Neverending Story. We call him that all the time. Even though he's sometimes quite a handful and deliberately pushes things off the counters to get attention when he's food seeking, we are grateful that he came into our lives. He's funny and very silly. Plus he doesn't meow like regular cats. He chirps and trills. It's quite endearing.

I am a handsome seal man! And I'm a sensitive one - I am not fond of changes. But foster mom says that there is only one more change for me - my forever home. Now that I am settled in, I'm very friendly and very purry. I like the cat tree and beds, and I love to be pet and scratched. I get along fine with other kitties as long as they are nice ones. I use my litter box like the good boy that I am. I have been to the vet, and officially declared very sweet. My senior bloodwork was done, and that will be back soon. But the vet says I seem healthy, so we aren't expecting anything other than the signs of a senior cat. I eat well, and I even play! I love to sit next to you and watch TV too - I can help you root for your favorite teams, or watch movies with you. Need a nice companion? Then ask about me.

12/16/15
I am back home with my Paw. I had a short trip to PA to visit my (temp) foster but am back now. went to see Dr Verma today and I started my prescription KD with my azodyl to help with the kidneys. Things are the same and it is like I never left (sitting in the recliner with Paw, Sleeping on the bed and in my mille bed, getting lots of love and playing with my leather toy).

Life is good.

1/10/16
Life is good here. I play hide and seek every morning with Meowmy and Paw when it is medicine time. I love to spend time with Paw sitting in the recliner or snuggling at night in bed. I am one happy cat!

3/10/16
Loving life! I am happy that Spring is coming. Meowmy and Paw have had the deck area (the feline residents call it the Catio) open and I like to lay on the furniture, bask in the sun and listening to the sounds of nature.

8/6/16
I went in for my annual bloodwork and Meowmy was able to get the Idexx SDMA test for me. The results are in and my levels are closer to the normal range then last year. So, all the yummy prescription food and daily Azodyl pills are keeping me healthy. other than that, nothing much has changed. I still love to relax with Paw in the recliner and spend my days watching wildlife on the catio or napping in the sun.

January 2017: state of the home address
Not much have really changed. I continue to take my daily meds and my health is good. Dad and I take our afternoon nap together in the recliner and we like to watch tv together too.

January 2018: state of the home address
my healthy continues to be good. I take my renal meds and eat my prescription food with some wet in the morning and a roasted chicken snack about mid-morning. I like to sit with Paw in the recliner while he watches the news and I take a nap. Since it has been so cold this winter, we snuggle together in bed too. overall, life is good.

January 2019 - state of the home address
My health continues to be good. we lost one of our furry companions this past year and that was sad for everyone especially Meowmy. The kitchen was remodeled and now there is a large window seat under the bay window . meowmy keeps a couple of mille beds there and it is a really nice place to nap in the afternoon sun. Paw and I are still the best of friends and when I am not laying in the sun, I am napping with him in his recliner. The youngest kitty here is a fluffy brat named Stanley who now thinks that he should be alpha cat so periodically he will pick a fight with me but no worries there, I am double his size so I remind him of his place.
