LAP CAT ALERT! LAP CAT ALERT! LAP CAT ALERT!

Foster Mom says I am blossoming right before her eyes. For the first few days I was nervous and shy but now that I know the lay of the land I am showing Foster Mom was a super sweet and friendly guy I am. I just LOVE to sit in her lap and I always greet her at the door and talk to her about my dream of finding my forever home. Do you think you can be the answer to my dreams?

Notes from Home
Happy Holidays to all my Meezer friends!

I just wanted to let you know that I am doing great in my new home in Pennsylvania. I adore my older sister Cici, I follow her everywhere. She is showing me the ropes here and teaching me important things like how to play in the sink, how to help wrapping presents and how to wear the latest fashions. I think she may have even bought me a Christmas present! Cici and Oskar (the Non Siamese of the household) always sleep with my mom and take turns napping on her lap. Life is good!

To all of the Meezer volunteers that helped me to get where I am, I want to Thank you from the bottom of my furry little heart.!

CALI
I've always been in a home, always been on my own, and always loved my person- but now I find myself here and I'm not so keen on the change. Once I get home, yup, I'll revert to who I was, but at this time, being a smart and savvy Siamese female, I'm a little irked.....
Notes from Home
Cali, Amy and I arrived home late on a Saturday evening, after a long drive up from Delaware. We placed Cali’s carrier in a quiet corner, fully expecting her to need an adjustment period. Of course Cali had other plans. She immediately ran out of the carrier, did 3 laps around my smallish NYC apartment and then jumped right into my lap! So she basically settled in that first night, and has been a wonderful companion ever since.

She’s a loud purrer and makes a lot of really cute vocalizations, especially before she leaps. She's so sweet & affectionate and loves to play - especially with toy mice (she tosses them by the tail with her mouth, then bats them across the room), da-bird and paper bags! She "guards" me when I'm on the computer, and sometimes jumps right into my lap (always am announcement trill 1st though).

We are very happy together, and are thankful to all the selfless volunteers at Siamese Rescue.

Notes from Home
Ruby is still doing very well! She has become a lot more outgoing and much less skiddish when she hears new things. She is still a tiny bit afraid of the noises that the dishwasher, clothes washer and keurig make - haha, too funny.
She was given quite a lot of toys and treats from friends and family at Christmas, but her favorite is still the fluffy brown mouse that makes it way into the bed more often than not. She finally sits with me on the sofa and continues to sleep with me every night. She uses the litter box A LOT, but I assume that is all well and good. Ruby had to take a visit to the vet at 7am on Christmas Eve due to a rodents ulcer that developed. The vet told her "you're a wiggle worm", but she did well when she was given her steroid shot. The ulcer is pretty much gone. I have gotten her brand new stainless steel bowls (per the vets recommendation). Her nightly routine is still the same - wake up around 3 or 4 or 5am and go crazy - running all around, scratching at my head board. Thank goodness her TALL scratching post gets delivered today. Fingers crossed she loves it and no longer feels the need to scratch at my bed. When she was at the vet she weighed 11.2 pounds!! I hope I am not making her chubby :o)

Update 1.27/14 - I realized that I accidentally deleted Ruby's first 'update entry' - so sorry about that! Ruby is still doing great! She is still loving her scratching post, still loving to play with a toy that is the "stick/string" combo. Her favorite one has a mini mouse on the end of a wire type string..she goes crazy for it! She learned how to jump up on the counters - uh oh. She also learned I stored her extra food in a cabinet and how to get into the cabinet to try to tear through the bag! The bag of food was quickly moved to the laundry room. I had to go away to Boston for work so my mom took care of her while I was away. Ruby was never shy - she loved to play and purr and snuggle up. She greets me at the door every evening and sleeps with me every night. I can now tell she scratches at my headboard to try to wake me up to feed her. I've found if I play with her for a bit before bed time she will sleep through the night. New pictures uploaded!

12.15.14 - Ruby is still doing great! She is super social and always friendly when I have visitors over. She gained a little bit of weight after she was first adopted, but that has come off since switching her to grain free wet food at night and an automatic feeder in the morning. Shes still food OBSESSED, so I make sure to give her a few treats in the morning before I leave for work. We moved in July and our new apartment has windows with deep windowsills that Ruby loves to sit on and watch the outside world. She loves catnip toys, sleeping against me - always in the middle of the bed, and has become my shadow. Everyone that meets her, loves her. Everything is still going great!!

Lola, now know as Maxi is fine. Sweet, gentle and full of mischief. Friendly, greets our guests and plays with her turbo scratcher with our two granddaughters. It's a sight to see them all knock the ball to each other. Cuddles & sleeps with both my husband and myself and as it got colder, now snuggles under the blanket. We now appreciate the detailed vetting process everyone goes through. Thank you so much for the great match and this great kittie.
One question, she really dislikes a lot of the canned food and loves the hard food which I am trying to limit. She has gained two pounds since we have her (now close to 11 lbs) and is a handful to pick up. Any suggestions on what to feed her that will curtail the weight gain but that she might like?

Sassy is doing wonderful. Keeping all my other cats in line. She has us well trained her staff must be top notch. She loves playing in the sink see picture and she has broken one of the cat trees using it as a springboard to the top of the hutch.
12/13/12 - Wow how time slips away. I love my home it would be nicer without the other cats but I get special alone time with mom. I sleep on top or beside her every night. Mom brushes me when she brushes her hair.
It took a long time before I could trust anyone. I just hated to give my heart away and have it broke again. After 4 years I figure she will be mine fur ever. Sassy has a strange health issue that might help someone else. I thought she had a piece of litter stuck in her nose but when the vet tried to remove it was a paullip. It comes back about once a year it swells and makes her sneeze really bad and we take a trip to the vet and a steroid shot and she is fine for another year really weird.
Thanks again for helping me find Sassy she is one of six cats that live with me but she is one of a kind.
12/15/14 Sassy is still living up to her name. She is a bundle of joy and still does not care for the other cats.
And she survived a trip to Florida and back. She and the other cats got to see their new home. Hoping to move by April.
I picked this house for the cat friendly design and the screened in room next to the sun room. Sass and the cats just loved it. I work to make life worth living for my cats. My husband has a (dog) and this house allows the cats to circle around and not be bothered with the (dog).

Notes from Home
Miko has been a wonderful addition to our family. She is now in charge. I had hoped for an affectionate lap cat. Siamese Cat Rescue told me Miko definitely fit the bill and they were absolutely right. In the evening she curls up in my lap and takes a nice long nap.
She has a favorite "mouse" she plays with. Of course sometimes playtime is when we go to bed. Many times I find the mouse in bed in the morning. She lets me know whenever she wants to play. She talks to me with the mouse in her mouth. She won't take no for an answer. That mouse travels upstairs and down.

Miko is quite a talker. I love that she lets me know when she wants something - food, playtime or affection. Everyone who has met Miko tells me she is a beautiful cat and she is!

December 14, 2014: I can't believe it has been a year since I adopted Miko. We have had a wonderful year. If it's possible she is even more loving than before. She has trained us well. She now has a favorite blanket right on the table in the kitchen. It is her spot. I don't dare remove the blanket unless I have to change the tablecloth. She monitors all the activity in the family room and the kitchen from there. She also expects to be petted by anyone who walks by. It's a perfect location from which to monitor her "subjects" and her "kingdom". When she is not there she is in my lap!

GEORGINA
Hi There!

I am looking for a home where I can be the one and only. After all, if you have me, that is all you need!

I will love on you, cuddle with you, and follow you wherever you go around the house. I like to play with those small toys that I can bat around.

I do love the kibble but who doesn't??

Are you the one for me?

Georgina
Notes from Home
Well, yesterday was one month with Georgina at our home. She has done very well, here with us so far. I attempted to take her to the Vet six days after she arrived at our house. Well,, she was having no part of that and had a little bit of an attitude with us for a few days. We've learned that when she's really upset with us, she'll put her bum towards us, as she's laying down. I would try to talk to her, while she's under the bed and she'd look me in the eye and then put her bum in my face. Guess she was telling me huh?

Now, however, she seems to have forgiven us completely. She spends very little time under the bed anymore, and her favorite pass time is watching the birds and squirrels thru the patio door windows in our family room. She sleeps between my legs at night and will try to do that to my hubby, but she gets frustrated with him. (He moves around way to much).

Georgina met our daughter when she came home for Thanksgiving and they seem to get along just fine. Georgina is a bit upset that I've put her on a diet. I've changed her food from dry to wet. She is currently having 1 can of wet cat food (5.5 oz) daily and maybe 2 tablespoons of the dry. She's so funny with her running down the hallway towards her feeding area. The minute she thinks any of us is headed that way she bolts in that direction. She's always asking for something to eat, never seen a cat so focused on food.

We also have learned that she loves to chase lasers. My hubby spends time with her every evening playing with her. She knows the sound of the "click" on the laser gun and she runs to the person who has it. She'll spin in circles until she gets dizzy, if we'd let her. It's so cute to watch her have fun, I truly believe that she's not had this much fun in a long time.

Our first month together is down and I hope and pray the next we see Georgina open up even more here. I can't say thank you enough to The Siamese Cat Rescue Volunteers who helped take care of Georgina. Those who helped match us together, you right on target, she's my buddy and I love her dearly.

I'll update on what Georgina thinks of Christmas trees, as ours will go up this week. Guess that's all for now, updates will be forthcoming soon.

DUSTY
Things I have learned since arriving in rescue :
Humans love it when I snuggle them and purr.
Other cats will play with me and snuggle me.
I know how to respect other cats when they don't want to play.
The dog is an idiot .

I am very smart and a fast learner !

Notes from Home
It is Dusty's first anniversary with us. Can't believe it has been a year. He continues to be a delight. He is curious about everything and is very helpful. He has had a wonderful time with Christmas boxes and wrapping paper as he has "helped" us get ready for the holidays. We took him to the vet recently for his checkup. He is in great shape, perfect blood work results, along with weight and fur (he has soft bunny fur). As we expected he charmed everyone at the vets, as he did last time, when we first got him. His favorite toys are little rubber balls that he chases all over the house and brings them to us to throw for him, then he brings them back, we throw them again and this goes on and on until he wears himself out. He is my constant companion (sits by me when I'm reading or on the computer). We bought him a shelf like bed that sits up high. He loves it, he can look down on us, and see out the window to bird and squirrel watch.
He is very smart, he can open all the closet doors and has discovered how to get into the cabinet where his dry food is kept. We have "child proofed" it so he can't get at the food and spread it all over the floor like he did one night. He doesn't bite anymore except if he gets really excited and even then it isn't a hard bite, but we don't encourage even that. We love him dearly and suspect he loves us too. He sleeps on the bed with us along with his big brother Dak. We get head bumps in the morning as a wake up call (he can be relentless especially if he's hungry) All and all we are happy we adopted him and can't imagine life without him. Thank you!

CAMILLA
Oh, I'm so serious in this photo. I guess you'd be serious too if you didn't know where your real home was, huh? Well, things are lookin' up a little it seems. I just got to this place that seems pretty nice with soft, warm fleecey things to snuggle in. And foster mom doesn't seem too bad either. I'm good with other kitties... sweet and a little shy at least for now. I have some new pictures and a video! I'm still getting over my eye infection, so pardon my winkiness on them.
Notes from Home
Hello!

Camilla is doing very well. She used to be very timid, even when we pet her, she seemed to "endure" it, and rarely purred. Well all that has changed now! She loves being pet, and purrs like a little machine! She is so soft and cuddly. She walks up to Rita, and puts her head towards Rita so Rita can clean her, which Rita loves. Rita, Camilla, and Andy (all adoptees from Siamese Rescue) are great friends, loving kitties, and very happy cats. Knock on wood, Camilla doesn't seem to suffer from UTIs or eye infections anymore. Her biggest problem might be that she just loves to eat and might have the tendency to get fat. We don't leave food out though and are doing our best to estimate the amount that is perfect for her. She is still slightly chubby in the belly though.

We have a fourth Siamese cat, who we took in because she was about to be put out in the street. She is 12 years old, and was never fixed! So she howled at night and urinated everywhere. She was also aggressive to our other three sweeties. So we got her fixed and she is still mostly separated from the other babies. We let her out of my room here and there, on supervised expeditions. She seems to have settled down a lot, and no one tries to fight. We'll keep slowly introducing her so that everyone can be happy together. We certainly don't want to stress out Rita Andy and Camilla. So we are taking it slow.

Thank you again for all that you do! We really love our kitties and are so happy that we are able to give them a loving, safe home.

Lisa

------------

(th below post was from a long time ago, but wasn't sure if I should delete.)

Hello! We LOVE Camilla! She is such a sweet, cuddly kitty, and also a crazy playful kitty. At the vet she climbed up the inside of the a wall mural, and the vet said she had never seen a cat do that before! She sometimes acts like she's going to climb my leg, but thankfullly she has not gone through with that. She loves her big brother Andy and big sister Rita. Andy was so sweet as he welcomed her. He would approach her, Camilla would hiss, and he would turn away with his tail in the air and chirp several times. After that happening about 10 times in a row, Camilla knew he was friendly. Rita kept her distance, but Camilla still growled and hissed at her for a couple weeks. She sure does have a menacing growl! But now they seem to have gotten over their differences, and Camilla and Rita have been seen sleeping together on the dining room chair! Camilla loves to cuddle and sleep with me at night. She unfortunately is taking antibiotics right now for a UTI. She is so sweet - instead of peeing on the rug or somewhere hard to clean, she peed in the bathtub. I'm sure that once the UTI clears she will stop that. Very very sweet kitty. We are all so thrilled with her! Totally in love! Thank you everyone!
