Hi, I'm Willow. I've got a sad tale to tell. I've been out on my own, without even my front claws to defend myself or to catch food, for a long time. The fleas got me so bad this hot summer that I chewed most of the fur off of my back, tail and tummy. No one would help me. I started hanging around a gas station in Cumberland, Virginia just hoping for some scraps to live on. Last month the nicest lady stopped for gas and just couldn't stand to see me like this... I was a scabby skinny mess. She scooped me up and helped to get me into rescue. I am sooooo happy to be safe and loved again. If you're looking for a best friend to cuddle up with this fall... you don't need to look any further. I know how lucky I am and will love you the rest of my life.

| Sweet and affectionate, Willow wants nothing more than to cuddle up and be loved. Apparently very allergic to fleas, so adopter will need to be diligent about flea prevention and possible seasonal allergies. Would prefer to be your one and only and can show some jealous tendencies with other cats, but once he feels secure he does fine with other animals. |

New Pictures posted
My new home is exciting! I now have an older brother (Grayson) and older sister, (Christabella) who I'm really trying to get to know better. Grayson follows me around to make sure I don't break the rules (counter jumping, breaking stuff...the usual no-no's for cats!), but sometimes it kinda gets on my nerves to have his hulking shadow behind me. I did go up to him on the sunroom the other day and since he was napping in his big bed, I thought I'd see what his mood was like...we actually touched noses! Pretty soon, I am thinking I might sneak into that big bed and snuggle with him! We'll see...
As for my sister, Christabella, she and I did have a scuffle, but it really was NOT my fault! Mum was playing "Dingly dangly" toy (string toy on a stick!) with me and I was just watching and waiting...and then Christabella walked in the room and attacked the dingly dangly! I didn’t see her and she scared the bejeebas out of me! I thought she was attacking me and the next thing I know, we are tussling. THEN, big brother Grayson came in to tell me to back off and I ran and hid (he isn't very good at finding me...I was only sitting on a dining room chair! jeez). Turns out, in my panic, I did bite sister...oops. She has been staying in Mum's room now, but I keep telling her how sorry I am. I hope she forgives me. She seems nice and if she’d ever forgive me, I think we’d have fun! She sure has a LONG memory though!
The food is great here! Sometimes, I sneak Grayson's portion too..hey, you snooze, you lose! Truth is, I am doing them a favor, as they’re a little chunky and I’m so slim and trim! I am slowly gaining weight and my fur has mostly grown back. I love to sleep on the back of Mum's TV watching chair. When she is sitting there, her head makes the best foot rest for my hind legs! :) Mummy doesn't seem to mind and reaches back to pet me throughout her program. Now that it is colder, she turns her lap blanket on and I love all that heat and snuggle with her while she brushes me.
All in all, I really love my new forever home and Mum and her brother seem to like me a lot too! (I didn't even realize that I do like guys...don't know why I was so scared of them before, but my Uncle Stephen is really nice and I like to follow him around!). Mummy’s uncle came to visit and I liked him a lot too, so guess I do like fellas just fine!
I sure am thankful for my new home and family! Thank you Siamese Rescue and a special thanks to my Foster Meowmy, Belinda.

Drat, my update disappeared. Let's try again, shall we?
Meowmy gave me special treats last night in celebration of my 3 year "Cativersary"! My life here with Meowmy is so wonderful and I've even grown fond of my brother, Grayson, and am still fond of chasing (torturing) my sis, Christabella. Typical little brother!
I often think of my wonderful Foster Meowmy, Belinda, and special rescue Meowmy, Janice. They gave me so much love and the chance to meet my furever Meowmy! Kitty kisses to you both!

Due to her history of being bullied by two male cats Lucinda was originally listed as should be an only cat. After 2 dental extractions attempts to integrate her with my (4) family cats are beginning to show promise.
She in NOT aggressive and is a nice companion for her human except when he (that's me) gives undo attention to the other cats. |

LUCINDA
Lucinda is a beautiful Lilac point Siamese cat who was returned to the area shelter that she had been previously adopted from 8 years ago. Her owners returned her because they had adopted 2 additional cats that were picking on Lucinda (trapping her in the covered litter box).
She is a nice cat who no longer needs be placed as a single cat, since she no longer has dental problems and has integrated with my family cats.

STAR
Just plain terrified.
It rains, I'm terrified.
Someone yells, I'm terrified.
Someone moves too quickly, I'm terrified.
Someone looks at me the wrong way, I'm terrified.
Is there a Rescuer out there for me? We're really not sure.
I need a home to go into where I can just be. Not only just be me, but just be. I am fine in the box, fine with my eating habits. I want to live without infringement on my territory or space for as long as I need. No touching, no holding, no petting - but slow blinks would be okay. Then, one day, six months from now, I may trust you. But until then, hands off.
Understood that makes me pretty impossible to adopt out :( The thought of staying here forever makes me even more terrified :(

Notes from Home
9/27/12 - So far Star is making good baby steps to settling in - she's actually done some exploring (usually at night when I'm sleeping or during the day when I'm at work). She surprised me this morning by coming out from under the bed in the spare bedroom and watching me do things while I was getting ready for work. I was able to take a couple of pictures this morning as she sat in the middle of the floor in the spare bedroom LOOKING at me! It's going to take a lot of time, but I'm already pleased in the progress of just 2 days having her here with me.
9/27/12 (later on) - OMG - she just came into the living room, sniffed my finger, let me move to a different chair without running away or hissing, then sniffed my finger again before hissing and leaving! Talk about amazing baby steps here! I really didn't expect this tonight! I really think there is hope for a bright future with Star!
9/30/12 - Star is settling in, but is still frightened. It will take time, but I'm still seeing improvement. She has ventured out into the living room and kitchen area while I'm home, but doesn't want to be touched yet. At least she doesn't hiss or growl when I go into the spare bedroom - under that bed seems to be her "safe zone" right now, but she comes out to eat and use the litter box (locations in different parts of my condo). She's a good kitty!
10/1/12 - Star is getting more curious and interested in checking me out so she can decide if I'm okay to associate with. Last night late and again this morning she wandered into the kitchen and living room and sat down to observe me. She's still not ready to be petted, and hisses when I get too close for her comfort, but she's showing more curiosity. She was actually running around last night (playful running) while I was in bed - many baby steps, but each day I see a little bit of improvement in her.
10/5/12 - Star continues to improve every day. She isn't ready to be petted or held yet (no surprise there), but is spending more time out in the living room with me and has eaten and used the litter box while I'm in the living room which I think shows some increasing trust and comfort around me. She isn't comfortable yet with not having an escape route, i.e. - doesn't want to be in a bedroom/bathroom/kitchen and have me walk in while blocking the way out. I am still encouraged with her progress though - I knew it would take a long time to win her trust, but she's doing well.
10/10/12 - Star continues to improve daily. Since this past Sunday she's started getting in my lap while I'm relaxing in my Lazy Boy watching TV in the evening. The first time she did it she let me scratch her head a little bit before getting overstimulated and running off. However, she did come back to my lap a couple more times. Her body language says that she really wants some attention and love, but she's also still frightened and unsure of me yet. I still can't just reach out and pet her, but she's making good progress. She's being a good cat - baby steps to improvement are always welcome with her.
10/14/12 - Star continues to improve and relax. I've now been able to scritch her on the head a few times, though only for short bits and only at her initiating the contact. Last night as I was watching tv she got on my lap (which has been a nightly occurance for a week now) without as much hesitation, and she even relaxed enough to snooze for a while. Until the tv show I had on had the sound of a smoke alarm going off in the background, that is. But her nap lasted about 20 minutes even so! I love her little baby steps of improvement! She's being a good cat, and is slowly acting more like a "normal" cat. She's even let me rub her back (from head to tail) while on my lap this evening in addition to some head scritching at the same time. I'm glad I brought her home - her purrsonality is starting to shine!
10/25/12 - Star is continuing to improve by leaps and bounds! She's getting more confident about asking for attention and getting in my lap in the evening, and has started jumping on my bed at night looking for attention (even though this wakes me up). She's also gracing me with her purring, both while chilling out in my lap and on the bed at night getting attention. She still doesn't want me to pick her up or reach down and randomly pet her - the attention getting has to be on her terms still but that's okay. She is coming out of her shell faster than I thought she would, and getting much better than the little scaredy cat she was when I first brought her home. Also, if I drag around the wand toy that came in her bag of goodies - she'll chase after it and "catch" it. She seems to enjoy going after it like a little wild crazy thing if I drag it around for her. Typical cat behavior! She's getting better at letting me pet her and rub down her back, but it still has to be on her terms - I just have to be careful about watching her body language since she still gets over stimulated after a while and has to go chill out away from me.
11/12/12 - Star continues to improve; she has spent part of the last couple of nights sleeping on my bed with me, curled up on a blanket at the foot of the bed. She is getting pushy about attention, and purrs when on my lap. She's even taken naps on my lap which are deep enough for dreaming (along with the twitching muscles and feet). She's really becoming quite the good girl ! There's still a ways to go but she's doing really well, and is worth having around!
12/1/12 - Last Sunday while I was at SCRC dropping off Cosette I purchased a Milly bed for Star. Up to a few minutes ago she either ignored it or just sniffed at it. She is now sitting in it! Yippee!!! Little steps, I know, but she's a wonderful kitty, and I'm glad I brought her home!
12/17/12 - Star is continuing to improve - you wouldn't believe this is the same scaredy cat I initially took home. With the holidays fast approaching, I feel like I got an early present in her. She's really becoming a shining star (pun intended!). I know I still have some work with trying to get her used to other people (which I really haven't tried yet), but she is a wonderful sweet kitty!
1/4/13 - To all the volunteers involved in rescueing Star: THANK YOU!! She has turned into a really wonderful sweet kitty, and is getting very relaxed and trusting with me. Sometimes when she's getting relaxed in my lap, she'll get up to my chest/shoulders purring in my ears. She's also touched my face twice with a soft paw while purring (2 different days), and she loves attention. She's definitely being a typical meezer. There's still a bit more work to do with her, but she is such a sweet kitty I can't possibly give her up! I'm very happy to have her, and glad I gave her a chance at a home. Something about her when I saw her at SCRC, I just knew she deserved a home and that she'd appreciate it, which she does.
2/2/13 - Star is such a good kitty - very much demanding of attention and play time. She still doesn't play with toys by herself - she wants me to throw them so she can chase and attack them. She also likes when I drag around a wand toy so she can pounce and attack it. She's spending more time on my bed with me at night now, and is so loving and sweet. I still can't believe how far she's come in just over 4 months. She's practically a velcro kitty with me now - still shy with strangers but that's okay. I need to do some work with introducing her to other people, but don't mind if she doesn't get all lovey with them. She's really a wonderful cat friend! Sometimes when she wants to play she'll be under a chair and will swat at my ankles when I walk by her, so OF COURSE we have to do some playing! She occasionally will investigate some catnip but doesn't go all overboard with it like some cats do. I'm glad I chose her to take home with me!
2/8/13 - Star's been occasionally doing some butt wiggles when we play, so that's a good thing to see - she's a wonderful kitty and really does want the attention. I still can't believe that other people didn't want to take her home - maybe they were deterred by how scared she was at SCRC. I'm glad I was able to bring her home - she's such a great little kitty! She seems to know that she's got a good thing going on at my place! She really does like being spoiled and loved on!
2/28/13 - Star is doing well, even though she still has some stress issues and overgrooming going on. She doesn't play on her own with toys, but loves some interactive playtime with me throwing toys for her to chase and attack as well as chasing a wand toy around. She hasn't gotten to the point yet of rubbing on my legs, but loves to curl up in my lap while I'm watching TV where she'll purr for a while and dose off for short naps. She's up to being on my lap for 1.5 - 2 hours at a time now, and spends a portion of each night sleeping on my bed with me. Sometimes she's curled up at the foot of the bed, and sometimes will be curled up near my side. She lets me know when she wants to play or get some attention, and has the sweetest little voice. Mostly she chirps or trills, but sometimes it's just a little meow. If she's wanting attention she will rub her head on my hand or fingers - she's usually wanting to wake me up during the night or early morning for some attention (with chirps and purrs while I'm still in bed!). I'm pleased with her progress - considering I've had her less than 6 months she's really doing amazingly well! She also likes to look out of windows to see what's going on outside - there's usually somebody outside walking their dog or something else going on. When the weather is nice enough to have the windows open (yes, I have good screens so she can't escape!), she likes to sniff the fresh air and keep an eye on the birds in the trees on either side of my building. Typical cat stuff!
3/22/13 - Things are still going very well with Star, and she's now showing a tiny bit if curiosity about what's outside the door of my condo whenever I leave for work/errands or come back in. I'm not letting her out though, she'll just have to be curious. Next month should be interesting, since I've got an appointment for her with the vet for a general checkup and shots/bloodwork. I'm not sure how she'll do with it, but we'll see. I'm trying to stay positive that we'll get through it without much trouble.
4/11/13 - Well, took Star to the vet this evening for a checkup and her shots. She did very well - not happy about getting blood drawn or getting her shots (lots of growling), but was wrapped in a towel for safety - she grudgingly let the vet check her out without any growling or hissing, just lots of wiggling around. Since she's still doing a lot of stress grooming with much hair loss, the vet recommended a change in diet (hypoallerginic)/dishes for food and water, along with a change in litter. She's also got some ear drops for her ears (had been doing a lot of ear scratching lately) since she's developing a yeast infection in her ears. She's actually liking the new wet food (duck and pea by Royal Canin), and I've got some of the dry duck and pea kibble mixed in with the other dry food I"d been giving her so she can get used to it.- I'll be trying a sample of prednisolone chewable to see if she'll eat it. If she does, we'll be trying that as a way to cut down on the overgrooming (possibly lots of itching causing it). The vet was very good with her (I've used him for years and really like him) - he's good with difficult cats, and I've had my share of difficult cats. Just thought you'd all like the good news about her first visit to my vet - I was nervous since I knew she'd had lots of issues prior to me getting her and had been really tough to get treated during the intake to the SCRC. She's doing really well, is such a good cat, and I do love her very much!
4/12/13 - In case anybody is wondering, Star is still scared of thunder. We had some thunderstorms roll through last night/early this morning, and she did NOT like the sound of the thunder at all. She ended up jumping off the bed and hiding under it. Oh well, that's not a big thing - at least she still has a safe home with all the necessities of life! And I found out that she's not liking the eardrops to clear up her ears. I just need to find a good way to treat her ears so the infection clears up.
4/24/13 - Star is still doing so well, her meezer personality is really coming out with all the talking and demanding attention. This morning she even graced me with a couple soft taps on my face with a front paw, and last night she touched my face with her nose and almost licked my face while in bed. She is the most amazingly sweet little kitty, and very loving! She's still not keen on strangers, especially guys, but that's okay. She does show some interest in one of my sisters, but isn't quite into being petted by her yet. The change in diet seems to agree with her (this is the first wet food she's really into eating since I brought her home), and between the diet change and prednisolone chews the excessive grooming has greatly diminished. Now for her hair to grow back in where she'd licked it all off - that'll take some time. I'm so happy that I gave her a chance, and she seems to be really happy about it as well (lots of purrs).
5/11/13 - Star is still doing very well. She has now started coming into my bathroom with me while I'm on the toilet, which is something she hadn't done until this past week. It's a very small bathroom, so I think she's feeling much more comfortable with me to do that. I know, it doesn't sound like much, but another little baby step for her in her healing process. She is really a talker now, and very much into getting attention. She's becoming very "in your face" about getting attention - she's such a wonderful kitty!
6/14/13 - This has been quite a day for Star - I'm getting my heat pump system replaced so there have been 2 strange guys in and out all day so far (currently just after 2pm and they showed up at 8am) working on it. She's spent all day so far either under my bed or under the bed in the guest room. The last time they went outside for a few minutes she came out from under the bed in the guest room, checked out their stuff that was still in here, then went in my bedroom to eat a bit of food (I had moved her food, water, and litter box in my bedroom so she could have easier access to it without going past the strange guys). When the guys came back in, she slinked quickly back into the guest room giving them the hairy eyeball but not hissing or growling at them. She's back to hiding under the bed. Good baby steps with 2 strange guys in the house! She'll be fine once they are done with the work and go home - at that point she'll be able to relax and get back to what's normal around here! At least the weather is really nice here today so I can leave all the windows open without suffering from heat and humidity! Addition: it didn't take long for Star to come out and get herself back to normal after the workmen left. She did really well with strangers in the place for the day, even though she hid pretty much the whole time!
7/6/13 - Star continues to be a lovely addition in my home, and loves to talk (chirps, meows, purrs) and get attention. She still doesn't want me to just pick her up and hold her, doesn't rub against my legs yet like a lot of cats will, but does occasionally rub against my fingers when she wants to be petted or scratched. She does still occasionally get overstimulated and attack, but that's happening less often than it did initially. I'm curious as to how she might get along with other cats, and would appreciate input from fosters she may have stayed with prior to arriving at the SCRC or how she may have interacted with other cats at the center. I know she was isolated at the center and wasn't too keen on people being around her due to being so frightened while there. Thoughts? I was thinking of possibly taking in another cat from SCRC who needs an angel but don't want to stress out Star if she doesn't get along with other cats.
8/8/13 - Star has been the most amazingly loving and lovable cat - she's quite vocal with chirps, meows, and purrs, and is definitely letting me know when she wants attention. Really the queen bee at my home, and not ashamed to let me know that she is the top cat! She has turned out so wonderfully, and I'm so glad I gave her a chance at a home! She seems to be very happy. She did quite well at the vet's office (I've had her there twice), other than not wanting anybody to draw blood or clean out her ears, both of which needed some cleaning. She does NOT want to be taken anywhere - she's been quite vocal about it when I've taken her outside to my car and then on the whole drive to the vet's office. Yes, poor thing is forced to be in her carrier (oh, the insult of it all!), even though I know it's for safety reasons. Besides, I don't want her to run away!
10/5/13 - Star is still progressing well, and is a very sweet kitty. She still has her moments when she will nip at me, but that doesn't happen very often any more. She's very vocal, as well as getting more playful. I've actually caught her playing with 1 of her toys all by herself a few times while I'm home (don't know if she's doing it while I'm at work) which is new since up to now I've had to throw the toys around for her to chase. She still wants me to throw the toys for her though which she see seems to enjoy. She's getting more bold in telling me when she wants to play by swatting at my ankles and feet as I walk by her. I'll be trying something new with her at thanksgiving - my whole family will be out of town that week so I'll have to board her at a kennel. I've used this particular one many times before with other cats, so don't worry about the care she'll get. I'm just nervous about her reaction. Hopefully I'm worried for no reason. :)
10/7/13 - I keep forgetting to mention that Star is so relaxed now when on my lap that she bathes herself, and has had quite a few naps where she slept so soundly on my lap that she had the twitchy feet and legs (as if running) and a bit of lip smacking and licking while sleeping. She's definitely showing a lot of the typical Meezer qualities with her play activity, wanting attention, and lots of talking/purring. All of those who were involved with her prior to me adopting her would not believe this is the same cat who was so withdrawn and scared at the center. I'm very pleased with how she is doing! She's still not used to other people coming into my condo, but she does well and behaves herself. She usually just hides under my bed - whenever somebody strange gets on the floor to look at her and talk to her, she'll look back at them but doesn't hiss or growl; she's not secure enough to come out much when strangers are around.
11/13/13 - just a note to let you all know what a wonderful cat Star is, and she's so much fun to have around. She's really gotten into playing and running around my condo. She definitely lets me know when she wants to play, and does some playing on her own. She has one toy mouse that she prefers over the other mice and toys that she has. She loves sitting in the window looking out at things going on outside. She also gets "perturbed" if I'm gone longer than normal, and has to tell me about it when I do get home. Obviously she believes she is queen of the home and I am her slave. She is a wonderful cat and a real lovey to have around - it's hard to believe that nobody else wanted to give her a chance, so I'm glad I could adopt her.
12/1/13 - well, just picked Star up from the kennel where I boarded her last week (was out of town) - she was in a really foul mood, and though she ate, drank, and used the litter box just fine, they said she was royally pissed all week and had been marked as mean so that nobody would get hurt. It took us about 10-15 minutes to get her from the cage to the carrier because she was being so nasty even to me. Now that we're home though, she's telling me all about it and looking for attention and loving on. I get the impression that she's glad to be home. Even though I'm thinking that I should just get a pet sitter the next time I'm out of town for an extended time (along with the rest of my family), they did say I could bring her back if I needed their services again (after multiple apologies from me for her bad behavior). At least now I know how she's going to be there. Usually when I'm gone for a few days I'll get a family member to stop by my home to care for her there and she's fine. It's just this time we were all going to be gone so I couldn't do that.
12/9/13 - Star has settled down nicely now that she's back home. It took a few days, but she is back to normal. I suspect she was just really terrified at the kennel - too many strange people, sounds, and being in a cage. I think it's best to just get a pet sitter the next time I'm out of town along with my whole family. One of my neighbors may be willing to do it - I also plan to check with my vet about a reliable and trust worthy one. At least at home Star is in her little comfort zone. She really is a wonderful cat with me - she is even playing with a couple of cat toys on her own now, and being more obvious when she wants me to play. She's so cute at it - swatting my ankles as I walk by with no claws is her little "invitation" to play and throw a toy for her to chase. I still enjoy having her around, and she seems to be really happy to have a home.
1/2/14 - Star continues to be a wonderful kitty, and is really getting more into playing with some of her toys on her own now along with wanting me to throw them around for her. She's come so far in the time that I've had her, and I'm so pleased with her progress. She's much more quiet at night now, and spends most of the night sleeping on my bed with me. Oh yeah, it's HER bed that she allows me to sleep on with her! She's so cute about getting me up in the morning, especially if she thinks I'm not getting up at the right time. She's a typical meezer with her talking to me, and she purrs a lot as well. She's really a very sweet and lovable kitty.
2/21/14 - Star is still doing very well, and has shown great strides in her play activity. She definitely wants to play a lot, and is doing some playing on her own now with the cat toys. She still wants a lot of the interactive play time, and is not shy about indicating the desire to play. She usually will grab my leg with both front paws, or bat at my foot or ankle as I walk by her or she walks by me. If I'm laying on my back in bed, she now will curl up on my chest with her head near my face and purr loudly, sometimes touching my face softly with a front paw. If I'm gone longer than normal during the day, she'll come out to greet me when I come home and chatter a bit. She is a real sweet kitty!
5/28/14 - Star is moving ahead with yet another huge baby step - she will now occasionally let me rub her belly! She usually stretches out on the bed next to me with lots of purring, then rolls over on her back with feet up in the air and the cute little head rolls. At this point I can rub on her belly calmly while talking to her (about how sweet and pretty she is, of course!). I do have to be careful, since she doesn't put up with it for more than a few minutes before having to grab me with claws and chomp on my hand, but it's been wonderful that she'll let me do it!
9/30/14 - the 2 year mark has passed uneventfully, and Star is doing quite well. She has become quite sweet and lovable with me, but is still reserved with strangers. She still tends to hide under the bed, or just stay away from them. That's okay though - she is a smart kitty and knows that she's in her forever home with me. She is a wonderful cat! And did I mention that she's very smart and beautiful? Of course she is, just like a meezer should be! She's become very much a normal cat since coming to live with me - I don't think she'll be the lap cat that loves everybody all the time, but I think she's wonderful and a very good cat. She definitely enjoys living the good life, being spoiled/loved on, and being taken care of. I'm glad I took a chance with her.
11/14/14 - Star is continueing to make progress, though it's much more subtle now. She's actually doing some playing on her own now, and is occasionally rubbing her head all over the catnip banana. It's great to see her acting so much like a normal meezer! She does love attention and play time. She also occasionally lets me rub her belly (amazing trust with that) - I do have to be careful doing this since she gets over stimulated by it and won't let me do that for long. She's always talking and purring, normal for meezers. Her meow is not what you normally think of as the meezer voice - it's a combination of a meow and a chirp - it's normal for her though, and she doesn't hesitate to talk about whatever's on her mind! I still think she's a wonderful cat.
12.23.14 - Star is turning into the most wonderful, sweet, and playful kitty. She's doing a lot more playing by herself now, and is very obviously asking for attention and play time with me. Her meezer personality is really coming out as she gets more comfortable and relaxed. It's amazing to me that nobody else was seriously inquiring about her - just my good fortune though, since I've got a cat that is so amazingly lovable and certainly seems to appreciate somebody giving her a chance at a home and some love. I'm very glad I was able to bring her home.
8/7/15 - Star continues to do well, with just some health glitches that are being dealt with the help of my vet. She's really a diva now - whenever I'm changing the sheets on my bed she has to "supervise" to make sure I do it correctly! She still hides when a thunderstorm comes through or when a person comes over that she doesn't know, and is pretty nasty at the vet's office (still has the fear and trust issues), but is a good cat when I get her back home. She's very lovable, and still wants the love and attention every day when I get home from work. She's quite the talker, and has a wonderful purr. She definitely lets me know what's on her mind! I'm still very happy with her.
8/12/16 - well, good news and bad news here. The good news is that Star is such a wonderful cat, and I'm really glad I brought her home with me. She has turned into the most loving cat with a wonderful sweet purr, and she loves to get attention (on her own terms, of course). The bad news is that she has cancer - it's limited to the mammary glands at the moment. She had surgery last week to remove multiple lumps down the right side mammary glands (partial mastectomy essentially), with the lumps sent out to a lab for evaluation. I've just had a good talk with my vet, and we are on the same page as far as treatment. Basically, I'll just keep her at home with lots of spoiling and love until her quality of life seems to no longer good. The chemo and radiology treatments will be hideously expensive and my vet says there's no guarantee of her being cured (it may spread and get worse anyway). Star gets very stressed out overtime I have to take her to the vet for anything, so there's no sense in having her under extra stress on top of what she'll be going through with the cancer. She may still surprise me since there's no way to know how long she will live before I have to take her in for the last time. At least she will get lots of love up until that point, and she's got a forever home here with me, so that's a good thing. I'm still glad I brought her home with me!
8/17/16 - Star continues to be a sweet and loving cat - hard to believe she was that frightened cat at the center! Despite her health issues (both the cancer diagnosis and the hyperthyroid), she is thriving at my home and is very lovable. My vet doesn't see much point in going through the extensive treatments that could be done, since there's no guarantee that they would work - if you were to see her at home though, you'd never know that anything was wrong with her (other than she's a bit thinner than I'd like). She is behaving normally for her, and still wants to be loved on! She is definitely worth having around!
10/6/16 - It's hard to believe that Star has lived with me for 4 years now. She remains a wonderful, sweet, and lovable cat who definitely wants things done on her own terms. She's very vocal, and has a wonderful purr. This all despite a couple of serious medical issues that my vet is keeping an eye on. She is a wonderful cat, and I'm glad I brought her home with me. She definitely needed a stable home with consistency. I don't think she'll ever be totally over the fear and trust issues, but she is very much a changed (for the better) cat from what she was at the shelter.

Her name has been changed to fit her quirky nature. Her official name is....She Who Must Not Be Named. She answers to She Who. We tried many names Fluffy, Fluffernutter, Princess, Tinkerbell, Tumble-ina, Pansy, Fluffypants, Woollybear, but none were quite right.
She's quite the traveler. She really liked the car ferry to Swan's Island and her adventures in Maine. Very suspicious of hermit crabs.
Now that school has started again she's had to adjust to the children being gone during the day. She has an uncanny knack of knowing when they should be getting off the bus and starts to howl if they're late.
She's quite athletic and can do amazing jumps, flips and spins in the air. She's a very loving little cat. She licks us whenever we return after leaving the house.

A lovely gal with a typical seal Siamese female personality, I'm a good witch, not a bad witch. I'm a great companion without being overly demanding, I'm pleasantly independent without being aloof, and I'm not an active scratcher. Escape artist is marked because I think I might like to venture out, which I'm not allowed to do, if you were too slow around the front door, but I'm not all that insistent. I talk and purr and have even been known to play a bit; I've had a full work up done including a needed dental, so you should have nothing in the near future. My ideal home would be someone who is home quite a bit as I do like attention; however you don't have to be an exclusive home body as I am happy to snooze in the sun while you're out goofing around. Glenda is settling in well at home. She enjoys sleeping in the sunny window, playing with her feather toys, greeting us when we come home, and having her head scratched in bed at night. I think she is very happy to have a large, peaceful space to herself. She now allows us to pet her without fear and even comes to sit on our laps at times, though she is still not comfortable enough to permit nail trimming. She is definitely the chatty, smart girl we expected.
Her first vet appointment is scheduled next week.

Hi SCRC- One Year Update:
Harry is healthy and thriving. We see the Vet tomorrow, and will update if there is anything to report (not expected).Any news about Harry must include his sister Kyrie, because they are completely inseparable.
This is truly a SCRC success story. Siri strongly suggested that people should not ignore these two beauties just because of their ages. We are thankful every day for our good fortune in adopting these cats. They are healthy, talkative, utterly bonded, entirely loving and lovable, active and very funny. Most everything they do is together or in close proximity to the other. Trips across the house to the litter box usually result in calling out - probably something like "I'm in the bathroom - be right out". Harry enjoys helping me with accounting chores. He sits on the computer keyboard and is trying hard to learn how to work the mouse. When one of us is seated or lying down, he loves us by climbing up on our chests, putting an arm around our neck and staring deeply into our eyes. Harry needs to use his hunting skills and needs playtime. He is quite lionly.
Overall, Harry and his sister are doing exceptionally well, and we all are enjoying a family life filled with abundant love.
Oct. 4, 2016 - Harry is The Man. He is a big lover and a very serious boy. When he needs to be a lion, he can really roar. But mostly, he stays stuck to his sister Kyrie (Can't mention one without the other, as they are utterly inseparable). Harry needs couch time every day at breakfast, which generally means sitting in someone's lap, nose-to-nose. He pats our cheek with his paw (no claws out), which is a really sweet and genuine moment of affection.
Really, these two are outstanding cats in every respect. Thank you Siri - you really nailed it when you suggested that potential adopters should not be concerned about their ages (13 at the time) and should consider their good health and personalities. Kyrie and her brother are quite at home and well adjusted. They are so well-adjusted that they are learning how to push our buttons and be a little naughty! They crave affection and attention, which are NOT in short supply here, and are comfortable with visitors. All's well - exceptionally well - on the second anniversary.

SAILOR
I am *one* of those boys. A hugger, a lover, and what I lack in the traditional look department I make up in the sweetness.
I have a story...probably a few. The vet thinks I am about 5 give or take a couple. I got the dreaded kitty cold from being worried in the shelter but I'm on the mend now.
So far, other cats around are just fine with me...the easy going ones are the best. Yes, I use the box...and no I don't scratch anything.

Just wanted to give a little update on Sailor. âš“ðŸ¾ðŸ˜»
He is adjusting very well. He has his special places where he likes to rest during the day but when night comes its time to go to sleep in the king size bed with mommy. When mommy gets up in the middle of the night he takes advantage of the moment and jumps in the tub. That is my que he wants water to drink. Did I mention he has a bowl of fresh water by the tub? He bypasses it. Lol. What he doesn't realize is I pour the water from his bowl in the tub and he drinks away. Lol This is a regular episode every night. He is so cute.

Hi Everyone :)
In 5 days, October 7th, it will make 5 months Sailor is with us. He had a rough 3 1/2 months with being sick but I am happy to report he is very healthy. He is settled in and has his daily routine. After I give him breakfast, he walks to the french doors leading out to the screen porch and voices to us he wants to go outside. He is a talker, which we love. When he isn't happy with something he will voice it, with a growl. I didn't understand him, when he first arrived, but now I understand, it is how he communicates, which is absolutely fine with us. He loves hanging out on his cat tree on the screen porch. He runs into the 2 story house, John made, when he sees mommy coming to bring him inside, at the end of the day. He loves his little baby sister Emilie. In the 5 months Sailor has been with us, he didn't play. Just the other day, I observed him playing with Emilie and I stopped what I was doing and watched with a smile. John and I are designing an indoor cat tree just for Sailor. Sailor was declawed when I adopted him and with all the research out there, no one makes a cat tree for declawed cats. The steps are narrow and not wide enough to climb to the other levels, without having claws. We are getting supplies, today, to make one with wide steps and spaced out for easy jumps. We hope to have it built by next weekend for his 5 month anniversary. John will cut the wood and the large cardboard tubes and I will help with carpeting each piece. I will post a picture once it is completed. Hope you enjoy the new pictures I am posting. You will see a difference in Sailors appearance. He is one healthy happy kitty in Spring Hill, Florida. :)

Notes from Home
Today is our one year anniversary with Miss Aurora. She is a wonderful addition to our family. She is in perfect health and has perfect manners. When Aurora first came to us, she cried and hid under a bed for several days. She eventually came out, explored the house, met all of us and decided to stay.
She is affectionate, loving and very playful. Her favorite toy is a wand toy with feathers on the end, which she drags around the house, meowing nonstop, until she finds a human to play with her.
Aurora loves treats, being brushed, chatting, napping on a cozy bed and snuggling with her humans. She has very little patience with humans on a phone, using a computer or reading a newspaper. After all, she is the one her humans should be focusing on.
We adore our little girl and are so grateful to everyone at Siamese Rescue for allowing us to adopt this wonderful cat. Special thanks to LaShawn, who took our baby in after she was found abandoned with her 2 kittens, and showed her that the world really is a safe place with some really great humans in it!
