JOSHUA
Hi there!

After almost 2 months here, I'm finally starting to get a little braver. Meowmy has had to elimate almost all on my list so far, because of my shyness. She said I need a very special adopter, one that isn't out of the transport area, doesn't have small kids to scare me, and one that would have lots of patience helping me come out of my shell even more.

If you think you're that person, ask about me and maybe I could come to you to live while you teach me more about bravery. Check out my video's and you'll see my progression so far.

Joshua

5/11/12 Note from foster: Joshua is doing so well now, and playing just like a kitten should. He'll come out of his playpen when I open the door, though he does stay fairly close to it. He loves his little toy mice and will toss them and play with them for hours. He also looks for petting and when I take my hand away (while he's in his playpen) the grabs it for more. He's just so sweet and I'm so pleased with his continued progress. I think he's ready for his forever home now as long as the adopter will continue the work I've done with him and give him attention with a little space for him to progress more at his own pace. he definately has the chance of becoming a victim kitty, so no dominate playmates for him. His eating habits are good, and his litterbox habits are excellent. Just a perfect little doll baby!

Joshua has grown into quite the character. We call him Joshua Bean Handsome Pants. He is still scared of strangers but around people he knows -he has attitude and an affectionate nature.

It's now almost Joshua's reported birthday, Sept 15. Today I will upload a picture of him. He is thriving.

MACKINAW
Foster Mom says I'm the perfect kitten. I'm very active and do crazy kitten things, but I'm also very sweet. I'm handsome and have the softest, prettiest fur. I enjoy playing by myself and with the resident cats here. I follow Foster Mom around and enjoy sitting on her lap. I'm sitting next to her now, purring loudly. Soon I will try to help her type (she does not appreciate my help but I don't care). I am a good eater and have perfect litter box habits. I close my eyes when Foster Mom tries to take a picture of me, so she hasn't been able to post a lot of good pictures, and she's worried that you can't see how see how handsome I am. All my vet work has been done (I was a big hit at the vet's office), and I am ready to go to my forever home, so ask about me!
Notes from Home
Well I ended up being a rather large Ragdoll, not really a meezer but my mom and dad love me anyhow! I lost my big brothers Adam and Bruno but for Valentine's Day (cough), mom and dad got me a sister who hisses and beats me, but I guess she's ok....

SHUEY
Left in a satchel next to a dumpster, thank goodness someone looked to see why that clasped satchel was moving around! Needless to say I was just a little bit HOT! Now things are looking up, and I'm safe, sound, and of great mind and body - and settling in quickly! Come on, admit it, do I have the cutest face or what????? (I'm not sure about dogs but they might be okay)

Notes from Home
Hi Folks--Shuey is doing very well. She's had her physical, and after a period of weight gain, she is back to an ideal weight, and I'm very glad! The vet says she's fine…she has a bit of a hairball issue, but we use something from GNC that she REALLY likes. Shuey is highly intelligent, very chatty, playful and sweet she is almost never aggressive anymore and trusts people more and more. We think about getting another cat, but it has taken her three years to be the full personality that she is now…she seems completely contented. She is more of a "mature" cat now…still playful, but not as much as the first year or so. She loves doing yoga with me!
9/6/15
Shuey is doing very well in her fourth year with me. She is an only pet now, and this seems to be her preferred status! This year, we discovered she had a bad tooth abscess, and that tooth was removed. This has really made a difference to her personality, which has truly blossomed. I wish we'd seen that sooner, poor girl, but all is well now. Hope all is well at the rescue center….I wish we could take another cat, but Shuey says "no"--which I'm sure does not surprise you! xo, Edith

MAGIC
I can see myself in the middle of it all - playing, loving, racing, chasing and having a grand old time. While at first I was a shy wallflower I quickly blossomed into an outgoing interactive demando-puss! So a home with kids and comings and goings would be fine, I love to be the center of attention and love to provide entertainment. Oh, and I love to snuggle for hours on end too!

Hello!
Sushi, who was renamed Magic shortly after adoption, is doing great! He's got an entire screened in porch so full of plants it's like a jungle, where he watches lizards and lays in the sun for hours... I've taught him to sit, stand on his back legs, jump through a hoop, and stay! He is so smart and such a great companion.

Just a few updates:
1) I've renamed him Magic.
2) his new address is 305 Lord Thomas Ave, Southport NC 28461 (Do I need to update his microchip somehow?)
3) Best phone number for contact is 704-500-0111, email contact is still mroczek.rayanne@gmail.com

Hope all is well at the center!

Best Wishes,
Rayanne Mroczek.

Bogart is a wonderful, sweet boy! We integrated him and our 17 year old female Tabby slowly, and she has totally accepted him as the new boy in the house! They both very happily snuggle with Meowmy when we are watching TV!
Bogart has met and charmed many of our friends, and has such a sweet face - he lets you know when he wants to eat (which if he had his way would be all the time LOL) and loves affection, belly rubs and scritches!

We are so happy he has joined our family!

NEMESIS
Very sweet kitty with outgoing personality. A little Siamese voice and talks when she has something to say - like food bowl is getting low :) She is now out of isolation and likes to be petted and interactive with people. She is also fine with other cats and will play after getting to know her new buddies. She likes to play with toys.
That's me, Karly

Notes from Home
Nemesis, once Karly, is proving an enjoyable addition to the household. First, she keeps RG the cat on his feet --and on alert, in case she takes over his last refuge, the three level cat tree in the kitchen.

Second, I've had to carefuly practice secure entry and departure from the house -- for Lil' Sis wants to go out and establish her domain over the yard (which of course is not permitted)

The two of them tangle once in a while each day, but Nemeis holds her own -- and is the first to express displeasure (hiss, snarl) if RG bothers her when she doesn't want to be bothered.

Vet checkout when well, but fecal flottation indicated traces of coccidae -- so the two of them have been on a two week course of Albon sulfa drug. Adminsitering the drug to Nemesis, in her wet food, is no problem, but with RG it is difficult -- he leaves it behind have eaten, and I have to make sure she doesn't clean up after him.

She knows every place in the home, short cut passages, hiding holes, niches in which to rest. She thinks already she is in charge of the place.

Anyway, a good addition to the household, as I said.

===

March 1

Nemesis has fit herself into the household a long while ago. She has established her own bed (but when RG her companion cat takes her bed, she has no hesitation to take the master bedroom bed over as her own). She and RG squabble a bit about how things are to be done, but most of the while they move around the place together, tails held high. She is a very sweet girl, and likes visitors as well as, of course, me. This has been a successful adoption.
9/1/14
Karly/Nemesis is doing well, one year after her adoption. She and my other cat RG roam the house together (and occasional scuffle over differences in opinion about things). She eats well, and is always healthy -- and has grown to love being brushed with our wire slicker brush once a day. She finds hidey-holes everywhere in the house for nice private naps, and carefully protects them from RG if he comes browsing. All in all, the adoption is a great success, and it is a pleasure to have Nemesis in the family.

9/1/15
Nemesis continues to be doing well in this household. She has made herself the queen of all high places to lounge and watch us -- and is an expert at getting into cabinets if the doors are left ajar.

She has not continued to be a door dasher -- she will stay still watching if I go through an open door -- but I consider it prudent to keep an eye on her when going outdoors.

Nemesis and my other cat RG continue to have a mixed relationship. They do lots of things together, such as marching to the kitchen for feeding, or keeping up with my whereabouts in the house. But there is still often a contest between the two of them about choice activities, such as who gets to sit in the window looking out -- and in these cases size matters, the larger cat (RG) gets his way. Doesn't seem to bother Nemesis -- just part of life.

So all in all adoption of Nemesis through SRC has been a success, a pleasure.

JEWEL
I am watching the door. I can hear foster mom coming. She opens the door and gives me a hello and I am so happy to see her. I give her a big hello and my best purr music. Well yes, the food she brings is good, but I just love to get head kisses and pets and then I am ready to play with the green feather string thing. Oh I really like that and am quite good at catching it and pouncing on it. And that cat nip thingy is good too! Life is good, but then foster mom has to leave and close that door again. I am watching the door.

Will you be my family with no closed doors?

Notes from Home
We welcomed Jewel to our family eight years ago. She has been a perfect fit for our family. Jewel is a wonderful, loving cat. She was a bit hesitant when she first came home but quickly settled into her castle. She asks for only food, love, and attention. While she has never been one to wander off outside, she does enjoy the fresh air through open windows in good weather. During winter she cannot be budged from her favorite chair by the fire. While not a lap cat, Jewel loves to have company by her side and cuddles up at the foot of the bed at night. Often her chatter is the first thing heard in the morning as she lets us know it’s time to get going in the morning and she has never been shy of voicing her opinion.
Over the past three years, our Jewel has been slowing down and showing her age. The vet says her cardiomyopathy has gotten worse and we notice she no longer has the energy she once had. She has no indication to play with her feather toy anymore, but prefers to spend her time peacefully dozing. About three years ago, she was diagnosed with tummy problem and has to take daily medicine to keep her bowel movements regular. This past year, she was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and must receive a daily fluid infusion. We almost lost her twice this past fall due to kidney failure. However, our Jewel is a fighter and she has pulled through. The fight has taken its toll on her and we fear our Jewel may not have much time left. We keep her comfortable in her bed and feed her smaller, more frequent meals so she always has fresh food.
Our girl is a stubborn fighter and so long as she keeps fighting, we are going to fight for her as well.

Aug. 31, 2015
It is with heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Jewel. She passed away yesterday in the evening. She was a perfect cat for our family in so many ways and we will miss her tremendously!
As we mentioned in our previous update, Jewel was struggling with multiple health ailments recently, but she was a gallant fighter to the very end.
She was not a lap cat but had her favorite sleeping spots throughout the house. Her favorite spot was the recliner in the finished basement family room, warming herself on many cold winter nights by the wood stove. There she would sleep until morning and then meander upstairs to a warm sunny spot on the bedroom floor.
She was one of a kind and we will be forever grateful for the time we were allowed to share with her.

Notes from Home
Hi - We wanted to update everyone on Mystic, whose new name is Ty. We recently celebrated our 1 year anniversary with Ty and can not say enough good things about him. He has a great personality and is a super sweet cat! He enjoys sunning and bird watching during the day by the sliding glass door and sleeping under the covers at night. We are so happy that he is part of our family!!

Ty recently had his annual check up at the vet and is a happy and healthy boy :-)

Bear and Honey are doing wonderful! He is my new best friend. I am not sure what I would do without him. He is so smart and has the best personality ever. Plus he is a giant momma's boy! Honey is also doing well. She is a bit more shy, but is very talkative. They love playing together and are a wonderful addition to our home. Than you everyone that helped me add this pair to my family. I can't believe it has only been a year.

DINAH
Hellooooooo out there! Doesn't anyone want to adopt me? If so, I'll come right out and hop in your lap and make myself at home! But first you have to ask!
Notes from Home
Dinah has become the Lady Di. Now that there are only the two of them in the house, she has come into her own. She is the pesky younger sister to the long suffering Rocky, worming her way into his Millie bed and generally making her presence known. She's more accepting of being picked up and cuddled and continues her love affair of foam balls. I counted four on my bed when I woke up this morning (there were none when I went to bed last night). She's definitely a sweetie with a mischievous edge.

What, it's my anniversary already? Of course, every day is about me, me, me. Which, of course, is as it should be. I am fairly respectful of my big brother, Rocky, but I can be a bit bratty to him as well. I am doing more hanging out with Mom, but, sometimes a girl needs her alone time. My foam balls have largely been replaced in my affection by "green girl," a small stuffed kitty that I carry around. Mom tried to supplement green girl with pink girl and blue boy, but really, did I ask to have multiple children? I don't think so. I'm purring in contentment as this is being typed. It took me awhile to find my forever home, but I'm here now.
