I have settled in and am very outgoing. I like to chat but am not excessive and I love people. Do not like other kitties. I like to be out exploring and am a great lap kitty. I have a great personality and am playful and interactive.

A snugglier, lovelier, funnier hair cat guy can't be found!

Notes from Home
8/2/2015 (2 weeks) Hello from Flame World! Salem is a wonderful kissie face kitty cat. He is cuddly and very loveable. As you can see from the pictures, he loves the cat tree in his safe room (laundry room). He is getting comfortable in the rest of the house and took a nap with me today. Integration with my other Flamepoint, Dorothy, is going slow. She's still not sure about having another cat in the house. Salem is trying to be friends but gives her her space. I am very pleased and hope to one day post a picture of them together.

Capri went to vets on Thursday, received meds for sneezing and congestion 2cc for two weeks. Eating well, has uses litter box. She is taking long naps, sleeps with whomever she can snuggle with. Upon wake she plays in her cube, charges out to attack Mugsy, they wrestler and run through the house. Capri has approached Molly, molly takes off and hides. As of today Molly has come out a few times, but still 8n retreat. Everything is quite, no hissing or fighting.

July 16, 2015
Capri still on med. She and Molly bumped noses this morning.

31 July 2015
Capri received her last Booster on 24 July 2015, 2.9 lbs.
A couple of days ago Molly was caught cleaning Capri's ears. Today they played together. When she is with Mugsy he just lays his paw on her and starts licking her. So far so good with the three of them

SUSIE
Just arrived. More information soon.
Notes from Home
Susie is quite the project! She's still getting used to the house, and spends long hours in the kitchen glowering at us. Once she get started with the head scritches, though, she wanders around and purrs loud enough for the whole house. We've just given her the freedom to wander freely about, and she's making good use of every hiding spot she can find!

4/12/2015
It's been just over three months, and Susie has started to venture around the house! She's still freaked out by loud noises (Sammy, who came home the same day with her, sometimes provides those noises), but she comes out on her own to eat and is quite the little love bug early in the morning and late at night. She's started sleeping on the bed with us, and even started using her voice! She's got a cute little squeak that we hear once or twice a day now.

7/28/2015
Six months now, and Susie is getting more and more social. She's still most active in the morning and evening, but she's started wandering about during the day some, even when we're walking around. She's super affectionate in the evening, and spent a good 10 minutes on my lap yesterday! She and Sammy get along well and play at night (sometimes they get a little rough). Susie is definitely jealous of when Sammy is getting attention and will squeeze in between him and whatever hand is petting him, but he doesn't seem to mind, especially if there's another available hand.

SAMMY
Just arrived and scared from all the changes in my life. I'll let you know more as soon as I start to relax.

Update: I've finally decided that this is a good place and I love all the pets and rubbing I'm getting. I met the other kitties, and like them all, even that pesky girl, Sheba. I have excellent litter box habits and like my food now, too.

Notes from Home
Sammy is settling in nicely and has the run of the house! He's friendly and playful, and when he's not cuddling, he's batting a toy (or anything he's made into a toy!) all over the house.

4/12/2015
Sammy has become an integral part of our house over the last three months! He's an inquisitive and talkative boy who greets us whenever we happen to walk by whatever odd stretch of hallway or room he's currently occupying. He and Susie, who came home on the same day, are best friends. When they're both out, they're constantly giving each other head boops or pouncing around playing.

7/28/2015
6 months already! I'd say time flies, but Sammy and Susie seem like they've been here forever now. Sammy is definitely the more talkative of the two, and he has us on a food schedule with no deviation tolerated! He's quite the happy boy, and has recently discovered the joy of boxes. He has claimed an Amazon box as his own, which now serves as nap corner, lookout perch, and jungle gym.

KISMET
It is really hard to get a good picture of me since I match the carpet, but aren't my blue eyes just stunning? I recently was spayed so that I could be ready to go home, but I just haven't found a home yet. I am very content to be with you and I purr non-stop. I like toys, food and use my box everytime. What's not to like here? So get clicking and let's see if I look prettier on your carpet.

Love & Purrs,

Kismet
Notes from Home
Yes, they (Kismet and Pandora) have met. Despite switching their beds and rooms for a couple of days, it was a hair raising experience to say the least and the running around, growling and hissing went on all weekend. However, as of last evening, they seemed to have come to some kind of truce and I am sure as time goes on, it will only get better. I had never seen Pandora get excited about anything at all before, but she sure didn't like having Kismet in her space. Kismet took it all in stride however and was able to hold her own. She is now freely going around the house while Pandora just sits and watches her.

Kismet has become very attached to me, following me around, wondering what is next on the agenda, and always comes to the door when I arrive home and comes gives me a kiss when I wake up --just like Jasmine used to do. She is such a joy!

July 18, 2011

Kismet had her first vet checkup on Saturday. Not only is she healthy, but she has gained weight and is 9.1 lbs! She has a little conjunctivitis in one eye so I am putting medicine in her eye several times a day (with difficulty!). Pandora, my Burmese, is now on Prozac to help her deal with the new situation and things seem to be calming down. This morning for the first time, Kismet and Pandora ate breakfast together only 3 feet away on separate plates. Kismet is a real cutie and knows the routine already.

July 28, 2015

I'm a very grown up cat now and have mellowed so much that I don't even bite or claw the vet! Mom takes me in my carrier to Chicago with her sometimes to spend a few days and I enjoy sitting on the train watching all the people walk by and I never even cry! My fur is very luxurious but much darker than when I was a kitten but it still has that wonderful lilac tint in daylight. Enjoy my new photo!

CHLOE
I found myself at Siamse Rescue when my owner had to go into an assisted living home and couldn't take me. As soon as you meet me you can tell how much she loved me. I am very well socialized and love spending time with my humans, especially getting head rubs. I have a very quier voice and purr easily when you pet me. My favorites toys are wands and laser pinters. Click on me now for years of loving.

Chloe is happy and adjusting well! She is very energetic and playful for a 10 year old cat. You can tell she was well cared for during her life as she is easy going and likes to be near humans. Thanks to all of you!

Update 7/28/15 (6 months after adoption): Chloe is one happy, healthy kitty! She has adjusted well to my home and loves playing on top of paper bags with ribbons and laser pointers. For sleeping she loves either the foot of my bed or the blanket by the window ledge. Looking outside is a fun pastime for her too. She is very gentle, loves head rubs and purrs a lot. I'm so happy to have her!

ROMEO
Looking for love in all the wrong places - decided you don't meet the best candidates in feral colonies. Finally decided on this Siamese Rescue matchmaking gig.

I'm one good looking little guy (under 10 pounds). A chocolate treat that won't pack on the pounds, that's me!

While waiting for my foster space I had a girlfriend at the evaluator's house. So I'm into the girls if you know what I mean. I might even need a cat or dog buddy so as to not wear out the human staff.

If you're into petting and play, why don't you click on that little button and Foster Mom will tell you what she knows about me so far.

Love and kisses - smooch, smooch!

Ray
Notes from Home
7/25/2015: Romeo is such a delight. He's buddies with everyone else in the house, and follows me faithfully from room to room. He's started letting friends pet him, so those nerves are fading.

He recently had a urinary problem (irritation, not sure if bacterial or sterile) that progressed into a full blown blockage in 2 days. He had to spend several days in the hospital and everyone there fell in love with him. It's been about a month now, and the recent culture was clear. I suspect that when we changed their food to a low sodium food (our DSH, Hunter, was recently diagnosed with a heart condition), he wasn't drinking enough so I'm giving him at least one "full sodium" meal a day (wet food, of course). The interesting thing is that his fever coat (which had grown out almost entirely) has come back!

We added some different scratchers, and now he's not scratching the furniture anymore (so I quit using soft paws). He still sometimes scratches the carpet (especially the upright parts of the stairs). We are building a new house (moving in 4-6 months) and it's all hardwood floors, so that won't be a problem there. He still nips occasionally when he gets excited, but it's steadily improving.

10/7/2014: Romeo is very playful and active in the evenings so I have to make sure to wear him out with a wand toy (otherwise he bugs Hunter and Ginger so they start yelling at him to leave them alone - Juliet loves the attention). He LOVES Da Bird wand toy. I've gotten him to jump up about 4 feet in the air chasing it.

He follows me through most of the house, sometimes so close I have to pick him up so I won't kick him. He loves snuggling on the couch or bed for TV time. In the evenings I can call his name and he'll come RACING upstairs to snuggle on the bed with me.

He still has some bad manners; we're using nail caps until we figure out what kind of scratching surface he likes. His biting has decreased, but I'm not ready to introduce him to my sister's kids yet. He was pretty skittish about meeting a friend of mine last week, so if he hides from strangers like Juliet that may not end up being an issue.

9/23/2014: We renamed Ray to Romeo - he is such a love and has been happily bouncing around the living room with Juliet in the evenings (as we hoped he would!). He still tends to find a sleeping place off on his own, and pretty hidden, but I suspect that will change as he becomes more accustomed to the house and everyone.

Ginger is still hissing at him sometimes (othertimes they groom each other, so it's hard to tell why she gets angry sometimes), but he just leaves her alone and they're fine.

Romeo will follow me upstairs when I go to bed in the evenings for some cuddles. A few nights ago he was snuggling with me in bed when Juliet came upstairs and meowed from the hallway, so he dashed off with her. Juliet stole my snuggle cat! They are really becoming buddies.

GINGER
Hellooooo! I'm back! My forever home wanted kids and as I now know, kids start off as babies and they are LOUD (yuck!), so here I am, looking for my true forever home. I like kids overall, just not toddlers and kids under 5. Those older ones, they like to cuddle and pet me and pay me the attention I deserve, you know what I mean?

I love to love on you, talk to you, follow you, help you eat - I want to be part of every aspect of your life. And did I mention I am a tortie? My lavender/grey/orange colors and super-soft fur speak for themselves. And if you think I'm fibbing, I'll tell you myself. :) I'm okay with other cats and okay with woofers, and active and vocal.

And I'll be shedding a couple of those pounds - foster meowm says the diet I had to be on with my furfriend made me pudgy and has me on a lower fat diet to let me show off what she calls my beuatiful bone structure. As long as there's food.....

If you think you'd like to add a chatty, somewhat bossy, always hungry and very lovable tortie to your life, let foster meowm know. I'll make sure she replies!

Notes from Home
7/25/2015: Ginger seems to be done with the inappropriate urination. Hooray! She's been going in the box faithfully for a few years now. Switching to the Cat Genies seems to have done the trick.

She's getting older and developing arthritis (and resisting all attempts to get her to loose weight). Despite the arthritis (which makes her climb the stairs *very* slowly), she has recently started playing with (and WRESTLING) with Romeo (VA 10242). She's always tolerated the other cats that we've had in the house, but she seems to really like Romeo.

Otherwise, she's the same as she's always been. If we aren't paying enough attention to her she yells at us until we pet her or let her sit on our shoulders, or whatever she wants. She thinks she's a 6 lb shoulder cat even though we keep telling her that she is NOT.

Added 5/26/12: I've been hesitant to update because I think we've really really sorted out her inappropriate elimination issues (but didn't want to jinx it by writing).

So, I thought the problem was that she didn't like using the box after another cat used it. We solved that issue by locking her up in the master suite, and it worked... as long as another cat didn't sneak in and use her box without us noticing (when that happened, we had to change the litter and completely wash the box to get her to use it again). Also, when we were home but not in the bedroom she would get very upset (jumping at the door and crying).

This winter, we switched all of the cat boxes to Cat Genies (they use plastic pellets and wash the pellets after a cat uses the box). Ginger took to the new box immediately, almost entirely discontinuing use of the traditional box, and I've only found one inappropriate urination since we installed the genie in the bedroom in January (and that was during the first week transition period).

After we were sure that she had switched over, we started letting her out into the rest of the house with the other cats (for an hour, then gradually increasing the amount of time). We still keep the bedroom door closed at night (don't want the box to run while we're asleep) and when we aren't home, but she's becoming a full member of the household again. :-)

The other cats have used "her" box in the bedroom, but since it washes everything afterwards, it doesn't seem to bother her.

So, I THINK we've got the problem solved. Now to work on her weight... she got very pudgy lounging in the bedroom by herself.

Added 02/22/11: I think we've finally got the urination problems sorted out; she goes outside of the box about once every two months (and has been like that since October). We lock her in the master bedroom/bathroom while we're out of the house or asleep. I suspect the problem is that she doesn't like Juliet using her litter box.

She's doing pretty well. She doesn't like to snuggle, but she always wants to be in the same room with us (often sacked out in a corner somewhere, snoring loudly). She's very fun to talk to. :-) We chat every morning while I'm in the shower (it must look pretty horrifying for her).

----------------------------------
Added 04/17/10: Nathaniel got a few snaps of her being cute. The images are on my flickr page

http://www.flickr.com/photos/denisen56/sets/72157623435322600/

-----

Added 04/15/10: We've been having some inappropriate elimination issues. I've tried a BUNCH of stuff, and things will seem to work for a day or two, but then she'll go back to using the carpet.

Other than that, she's a sweetie and loves to be carried around the house and will hold conversations with us.

-----
Ginger saw the vet on Saturday. She'll be getting her teeth cleaned soon, so she had blood drawn to make sure she was okay beforehand, but otherwise she got a clean bill of health (oh, and she needs to loose weight, but we knew that).

Hunter and Juliet both approach her and she'll let them sniff her for a minute before she tells them to back off. Hunter doesn't get the message as quickly so he's been batted a few times, but he's learning.

When she's closed in a room she stares at the door a lot... she's tired of being closed in rooms and wants to have free reign of the house!

Sure glad my brother is here with me 'cus he is way braver than I am. We screamed at the shelter to be together. Can you believe they wanted to take me away from him? I like my chin scratched. And I love to be brushed. I can't decide about pets yet. Sometimes they are okay and sometimes they are scary.

Notes from Home
Progress with Ju Ju Bee is measured in tiny baby steps. She has gone from hiding under the tool bench to hiding under the recliner to hiding inside a storage drawer under my bed to sitting on chairs pulled up to tables to lying under the couch. In the past few days she has started lying on top of my bed with her brother, when I am not in the room. (I peek.) At first she fled as soon as she saw me but now she will sit and watch me as I get dressed. I have offered her treats when she is sitting on a chair but she usually jumps down and runs. I have yet to touch her. She is exploring the rest of the house at night, and like her brother has great fun batting her toys on the laminate floor at night. A couple of times she has hopped on my bed at night, but stayed by my feet. She watches intently while I am petting Yangtze on my bed. Ju Ju Bee is a meezer who needs lots of time and patience, and I have plenty of both.
