WANTED: human soul mate

My owner went into a nursing home, and the family took me to the shelter because "they aren't cat people." I've been at the shelter for months because being in a cage made me sad and confused, so no one adopted me.

Within 2 hours of arriving in my foster home, I've proven to be a lap-sitting, head-butting, playful snuggler. I'm a big, lanky fellow looking for a warm lap and a human or family who wants an intense, furever relationship.

Might you bring me home for the holidays?

We have settled into a routine. I re-named him Buster as this seemed to be a better fit for his personality. As I write this, Buster is hiding in the basement under a recliner as I have learned that he is afraid of thunderstorms! He loves to eat and can hear the food being dispensed from anywhere in the house and can even tell time. He knows that the feeder dispenses at 5:30am and around 5:20am he is sitting in front of the chiming wall clock waiting for it to chime 5:30am.

Are you looking at ME? GOOD! I deserve a good long look because I am one good looking girl. I'm long and lean and a real talker. I've got something to say on most subjects.

I like dogs, not sure about female cats, have good litter box habits, and want a home of my own.

greetings from Natick MA! Akemi is doing fabulously and enjoying her position as supreme ruler of the house. She is affectionately referred to as "her ROYALNESS". She has trained her human sisters, ages 11 and 9.5 years old, to groom her daily and provide regular adoration sessions. When not being pampered she spends alot of time basking in sunny spots resting - it takes a lot of rest to maintain those good looks. She is very attached to her human mom and insists on sleeping on some portion of her mom whenever possible. She gets along with her adopted feline brother, Norton, and has him trained. He understands that she is the boss.

Sadly Akemi passed away this past spring. She developed renal failure and declined very rapidly. We are very sad to have lost her. She was a terrific Siamese.

Dempsy is doing fabulous!!!! She has been queen of the house since she walked in. She is a bit of a wild woman and we jokingly call her "Kitty NO" because she is always getting into something or doing something she shouldn't like scaling the headboard of the bed or trying to trip you up multiple times at feeding times or nipping arms in the middle of the night when she wants to play. Needless to say I LOVE her!!!!!!

I'm loving, sweet and purring but just a ONE pound baby. I am a gorgeous little lilac lynx pt....don't I have purrty eyes too? The shelter just in't the place for a baby. After I get well she is afraid I'd get sick again if I had to travel more than a day away from Gator country. She says I still need lots of fertilizer to grow but right now I like to pass the time in my snugglesack close to her chest.

Notes from Home
You know, it is only since I transported Hershey and started getting updates about him that I realized that this functionality exists! Five years ago, I brought home a little 2 pound kitty and promptly renamed her. From the first day she was out in the house, she took a shine to my other young kitty and they have been best buddies ever since then. Gabby's lilac points (especially those purple ears) are just remarkable.

Gabby is the first cat that I've owned that loved to get under the covers. You will rarely find Gabby curled up on the top of the bed. Generally, you'll find a lump and locate her under the covers. This, of course, makes getting pictures of her a bit difficult!

UPDATE: June 7, 2015
Sad news this morning. I had to have Gabby euthanized. She became very ill on Friday and my friend rushed her to my vet. She seemed to be in complete kidney failure. The vet began a treatment of IV fluids, antibiotics and pain medication. She showed some signs of improvement yesterday but this morning, the vet called me and said she had relapsed. We decided that there was no possibility of a recovery from this point. I spent 20 minutes with her this morning. She was happy to see me but had no energy to give me her customary head bump or to lick my nose. I knew it was her time. Finally, I picked her up and she she passed away in my arms. I can't believe I only got 9 years with this beautiful purple girl.

Wandering around outside, ever so hopeful someone would love me. Not able to eat as my canines were literally hanging on by a thread, I made my way down to 6 pounds. The good news? I'm making up for lost time and feeling SO much better now that my mouth has been fixed up! I'm all about love and food!

Update 6/6/15 We couldn't ask for a better cat than Milo. He's totally adjusted and comfortable after six months of living with us. He's developing into a regular lap cap and seems to know the best times to hop up in a lap and get petted. Milo is sometimes referred to as ninja cat, he is the quietest guy we've ever seen and suddenly appears when least expected. He loves to explore the house, is more vocal than before with the cutest meow, and especially likes to sit in the window (even more so if it's open). His appetite is good and he gained back all the weight lost due to his dental issues. He's now a good sized kitty, and with a very gentle nature. We consider ourselves fortunate to have him with us. Two new pics posted.

Update 1/11/15. Milo is doing wonderful! He's entertaining, and it's hard to know exactly what he'll do for his next act. He's incredibly playful, energetic, and loves peacock feathers and his wand with a furry/leather tassel on the end. Integration with Sagwa went well and Milo is totally comfortable now. He has claimed a few areas as his...previously unclaimed by Sagwa, so open territory. Surprising to me is how his comfort level and activity continue to evolve even after being with us for almost two months.

Felix, now named Milo (as in the Adventures of Milo and Otis) is settling in nicely. He's loving, playful and is ready to escape from his safe room and explore the rest of the house. For now he's content doing the kitty backstroke after a feather toy (pic)

Hi there! My name is Luxio - that's just short for Luxurious! Today I am REALLY luxuriating in my new warm room which even offers room service!! WET food on a china plate and all the kibbles and clean water I can drink. Someone even cleans up after I poop! I mean, really.... is this a dream?? They even gave me a real live squishy toy to cuddle up with. This is a far cry from scavenging on the side of the road in the cold and wet.

I think I can get used to the luxury life!

Her Siameseness, The Divine Miss Sophie has become a wonderful, curious, naughty, georgeous member of our household and we don't know what we did before she came to live with us! She had both my husband and myself wrapped around her little blue point paws within days of her arrival although her Tonkinese brother Yoda isn't always so sure.. It was a flawless transition for her to fit into our household. She is a petite little girl at 9 months old and still can't wear a "big girl" collar so she still has her kitten one with the pink flower..how embarassing!
I would and will adopt again from Siamese Rescue in a heartbeat. Thank you everyone who worked so hard to bring Sophie into our life and hearts. She is a joy.

Notes from Home
Once I got my little boy, I decided to change his name from Frankie Blue Eyes to Vinnie. I have been involved in my genealogical research for some time and found I had two grandfathers named Vincent, hence my Vinnie.
Vinnie seems to love his new home. It did not take him long to get adjusted, even after his long trip to Virginia from Kentucky. He is eating very well, in fact too much. His stomach is getting really large so I think I will have to change his diet (now eating Ideal Balance with no grains). His current food now contains potatoes, so I believe that may be the culprit. Today I will search for another non-grain food that may be better for him.
Vinnie has one bad habit that I am still hopeful I will be able to correct. Whenever I play with him he wants to bite me, not harshly but a bite nonetheless. I say a loud NO to him (the spray water bottle never seems to be close by) and he stops but he wants to do this every time. I'm not quite sure what else I can do in this regard. Any suggestions would be helpful.
I'll try to post a new picture soon.

Vinnie is a wonderful cat and has become my best buddy! His litter habits are exemplary and he has lots of energy. I have noticed that sometimes when he wants to get my attention he nips at my heel. I'm pleased to say that his former habit of biting has subsided substantially, but he does still want to nip when he gets too excited when we are playing. I am learning, though, to leave him alone when I see that his excitement level is going up.
We have traveled to N.C. twice and he has done very well in the car. He loves the stairs at the house there and I hear the patter of his feet several times during the night.
He is extremely curious and wants to explore everything he comes in contact with. You can see this in the pictures I have posted! I' m now looking forward to going to N.C. for Christmas. Let's hope Vinnie doesn't want to do too much exploring with the Christmas tree!!
June 6, 2015
I just rechecked Vinnie's birthdate and he will be 3 years old on September 8. He now has a sister, a Siamese Tortie named Julianna. They get along fine but sometimes I wonder if they do not play too hard. But when they seem to be fighting, one will run away from the other and then both just calm down in separate corners. She is a big eater and pushes ahead of him at the food bowl. He just lifts his head like a good gentleman and goes back after she has finished!
I will try to learn how to put a picture of my handsome boy on this page on his birthday. Wish me luck!

This cat is not suitable for children under the age of 5 (ie 5 and over is OK). This is typically a cat that is shy and a child might scare it, or one that has a potential to bite or play too hardNot with kids under 5
This cat is either scared or, or has had bad experiences with dogs. Not with Dogs
Doesn't your nice boy cat need a people shy companion? I could show him how to toss my little stuffed animals, take naps with him, tell him how handsome he is, and not be an attention hog.

Notes from Home
Tansie is eating well, using the litter bin and having fun even if it is without me. I was well informed so the fact that she is a ninja-kitty is not a shock. She is very active at night and she is successful in hiding except when she wakes me up :) Last night at around 3 AM I awakened to the sound of scratching. Otis was sleeping soundly in the top level of the older kitty condo in my bedroom while Tansie was on the level just below having a good stretch and a good scratch on the center pole. Unfortunately she must have sensed I was no longer asleep , probably because of a change in my breathing pattern-so she turned her head, noticed me and flew out of the room. You might wonder why she was in my bedroom when I was supposed to confine her to one room till she was more settled. Well, last week I woke up when I heard her crying next door. It was one of those middle of the night things and I made the mistake of opening the door to see if she was OK. She bolted, and only Otis can find her. I can hear them playing a lot, no hissing at all, but if I show up, Tansie makes sure she is hidden. Next week she has a vet appointment so if she hasn't come around by then I may have to do a room by room search and seal till I can get her for the carrier. Also I bought a new carrier that should make her feel more secure and is safer. Talk to you guys later.June
One Month Update
Tansie has settled in. She is very much a night kitty and about a half hour to an hour after I go to bed she will be scampering down the hall over and over in an attempt to get Otis to get off his :"lillypad" and join her in play. If that doesn't work (and often it doesn't), she will come into my bedroom, jump onto the lower level of whatever cat tree or condo his highness is perched on and start to poke on one end and pull his ever so plush tail on the other. This will get him going and before you know it they are uphill and down dale. She knows I see her but as long as I don't approach or make sudden moves she is OK with me. If I wait to fill bowels and clean litter till daylight instead of my usual 6 AM or earlier morning routine then she will come out following Otis as if to say "Hey, no sleeping on the job" So I do get some daylight sightings and I talk to her sweetly when she is under my bed and I always know where she is because thank God she is not quiet. I also learned how to make a happy trill ( a friend taught me) so Tansie knows the big cat (me) is happy to see her even if she doesn't yet respond to human language. We are in it for the long haul and as long as she is eating, using the bins and is generally happy, I'll be happy too.
Both Otis and Tansie are doing well. They became best buddies and while Otis is a lap cat, Tansie tolerates me and adores him.

I am feeling much better, but am still shy. I do like being brushed though, and I like watching the other cats play. I need a quiet home with a nice cat or two to be with, and a person with patience to take it slow with me.

Notes from Home
Illyria (Lucy) is doing great! After spending a few days hiding under the bed, though eating well and using the litter box when the coast was clear, she suddenly decided to come out and play! Now she comes to me to be petted regularly and seems to love the attention. Tequiler has been keeping a close eye on her, usually from the doorway. Lucy has approached him a few times, only to be hissed at when she gets too close! He has shown no signs of aggression and Lucy has taken it completely in her stride, even walking right past him to explore the landing and bathroom, so I am sure it won't be long before the two begin to enjoy each other's company.

Saturday, April 19: Illyria (Lucy) is no longer shy - in fact she is becoming quite assertive! Last night she ran through the open bedroom door, explored the upstairs and then ventured downstairs to check out the rest of the house. It took a while to coax her back to her room for the night Unfortunately her sudden confidence has had a detrimental effect on Tequiler, who stopped eating and has vomited a couple of times. Lucy went to the vet today and received all kinds of attention and fuss - in fact her photo will be uploaded on Big Creek Veterinary Hospital's Facebook page as pet of the day! She is perfectly healthy and completely up-to-date (thanks to Siamese Rescue). The vet, who is very familiar with Tequiler, believes he is simply suffering from stress and suggested that I use the Feliway diffuser for him instead of for Lucy as originally intended. I will have to keep the cats separated for a while longer, at least until Tequiler gets back to his usual happy self. Of course he will go to the vet if he doesn't start eating again this weekend. The name "Lucy" seems to fit very well - she is beginning to remind me of Lucy in the Peanuts cartoon!

Monday, April 21
Sadly Tequiler is in hospital and Lucy seems to know that he is missing, so she is once again spending most of her time under the bed, though still eating well and coming out for her mealtime loving. Tequiler had not eaten for 3 days and is dehydrated. Blood tests and temperature were all normal, so the vet is hopeful he will recover quickly. There is no apparent reason for his condition - other than stress caused by the sudden upheaval in his life. I am devastated! The vet will keep him until he is properly hydrated and eating again.

Wednesday, April 23
Tequiler responded well to fluids and force-feeding and is now back home. There seems to be no explanation other than stress at having to share his home (more likely me!) with a stranger. He is quite perky today and starting to eat, though only a little so far.

Lucy is ecstatic that he is back! When I opened the door to her room she shot out like a rocket and flatly refused to go back. She has remained free ever since, though she does go back occasionally for naps, or to use her litter box. There is no hostility between the cats and they actually seem to be getting along fine. Lucy explored every corner of the house, found the drinking fountain, Tequiler's litter box and his food! Heida was right when she said Lucy is a cat's cat, rather than a human's cat. She doesn't come to me for cuddles any more - my role is merely to provide catering and house-keeping services - but runs straight to Tequiler and wants to hang out with him. Luckily she does provide him with space on a regular basis, which will help him recover from PTSD!!

I had been very careful to give Tequiler plenty of attention, so he shouldn't have been jealous, but maybe even a few minutes here and there attending to Lucy's needs and whims was too much. Hopefully the crisis has ended and all will go well from now on.

Wednesday, April 30: Lucy has settled in extremely well and is thriving! Tequiler too is recovering well from his recent setback. He is not yet willing to accept Lucy as his favorite companion, but is happy enough to share space and play with her. They both like to chase a laser light, so we play with that together once or twice a day. Lucy likes to watch the birds from a window perch. Sometimes she disappears for a couple of hours and it took me a while to figure out where she was hiding - she eventually emerged from the basement trailing cobwebs! Obviously she had been hiding in the utility room, probably behind the furnace. The only problem now is clipping her nails! She fights like a wildcat and it feels like trying to hold onto a greased piglet. No success so far, but will keep trying. She is very active and has gained a little weight. She is also becoming more affectionate with me, though she doesn't like being picked up, Am trying to get sone photos of her, but she doesn't keep still long enough.

Sunday, October 10, 2014
Illyria (Lucy) has settled in very well. She has become quite a "people cat", wanting lots of attention from me and sometimes annoying Tequiler by settling confidently on my lap. She doesn't like strangers and disappears whenever someone comes to the house She still looks at me defiantly and smacks my hand when she doesn't get what she wants - we're working on that! I found the best reaction on my part is to explain quite firmly (again) that there will be no scratching or biting in this house and then to simply walk away. I'm sure Tequiler wishes she understood the long-standing house rule that "boys go first." She insists on being fed first! There is a fair amount of jealousy between them, but they work it out, usually to Lucy's advantage. She still loves the window perches, the toys and chasing the laser light. She keeps a close eye on anything that is going on and is intensely curious. She really is irresistible!

Thursday, June 4. 2015
Lucy (Illyria) is doing extremely well. Her first year check-up confirmed that she is very healthy. I apologize for sending this update so late, but the past few months have been very difficult as I had a bad fall on the stairs towards the end of February and ended up in hospital three times and rehab for several weeks. My two daughters took good care of the cats and Lucy started demanding attention from everyone who came to the house. She no longer hides when strangers come in and is a continual source of amusement. She is very much a prima donna, strutting around like a spoiled movie star! I have been home now for about a month and she has started sleeping with me. Tequiler is worried that I might leave again and guards me whenever my daughters come over, but the whole experience has been very good for Lucy. She is full of confidence now.

6/16/14 Thank you! I love Uma & appreciate the check in. We went to the vet this morning & somehow I've let her put on a little weight...she is such a chow hound! The vet gave me some suggestions on how to control her portions & not feel like I'm depriving her. She also had to have her ears cleaned & is now on Tresaderm for 10 days bc she has gunk in her ear. Poor little girl!
I will certainly fill out the Feedback link. I've loved working with Siamese Rescue & am so thankful for all its volunteers & their commitment to saving Siamese cats. Kathi- you've been the best!
Since its an election year I am busy on the weekends but would love to look at volunteering in the new year. I can do the flyer part though!
Would you all mind posting a picture of Uma to your Facebook page? I saw one of Princess with her new family & I would love one for Uma! I've attached three pics of her at home. In the future I will update via the site.

7/2/14- I loveeeeeeeeeee Uma! She is the best, most playful kitty. She loves to cuddle & is a purring machine. I rub her belly everyday! Her weight has stabilized as I have cut her dry food a bit. We've finished the Tresaderm ear drops & so I think her ears are on the mend. She isn't afraid of strangers & already has many admirers. She does indeed fling that cat litter! She is crazzyyyyyy about that wand toy; she won't play with anything else! Every morning when my alarm goes off, she will jump on my back with the wand toy- she's ready to play!
I love Uma & already know we are deeply bonded! Thank you Siamese Cat Rescue!
6/2/15 Uma is the BEST kitty and I love her so much. She cuddles all the time & purrs & loves to play. All my friend & family love her too- she is very popular.
She did have to have 10 teeth removed about 3 weeks ago. Apparently her teeth really deteriorated in 6 months since her last vet visit. Although I think she's loving life now that she can only eat wet food. She is the happiest kitty.
Here are 2 recent photos. I am telling everyone they need to get a kitty from Siamese Rescue! They won't be disappointed!
