Well settled, well socialized, and just a little well rounded, I'm a very well established easy going gal who lost my home due to the economy, and now need a new one. I've lived with cats and kids before, and I'm pretty easy going about it all.....

Notes from Home
Three days in and we could not be happier with Bailey. She is funny, sweet, and loves to play with her wand toys. She hit the kitty trifecta (eat, drink, litter box) within her first 12 hours home and she has slept with us each night. Did I mention she is beautiful?

Bailey had her first wellness check-up this morning and she passed with flying colors.

***
January 25, 2014
We had friends over for dinner this evening and Bailey was the perfect hostess. She greeted our guests at the door, listened politely to all the dinner conversations and provided after dinner entertainment by demonstrating her kitty condo climbing skills.

*****
February 1, 2014
Bailey had two major "firsts" last night and we could not be happier.
First, she let my husband pick her up. It was only for a minute or two but still. Huge for her (and him!)
Second, she voluntarily curled up on my lap for a nap. This was the first time for any lap sitting but I hope not the last.
Other than that, we have finally found several non-seafood foods that she will eat. No beef, no duck, no rabbit, and not a big chicken fan but she devours lamb and organ meats. And seafood.
*****
February 15, 2014
Bailey is such a great cat. She is a complete busybody and can always be found where the action is - even if the action is washing dishes. We have settled on a rotation of foods (including a chicken flavor or two) that she will eat although the highlight of her diet is the nightly freeze-dried chicken treat game. We hide 3-4 pieces and she will not stop racing around the house until she finds them all.

June 8, 2014
It's been five months since we brought Bailey home. Last month, Bailey had her first experience with a cat sitter. It was a complete success. We hung a squirrel-proof bird feeder in the back yard so Bailey could watch from her kitty condo. She is not a lap cat but seems perfectly content to curl up next to one of us for some love, brushing, or just a little nap. So sweet.

I cannot believe its been a year since Bailey joined our family! She continues to make us laugh with her sweet and silly antics.

January 8, 2017
Happy Adoption Day Bailey!
Such a funny, sweet, silly cat. You make us laugh every day!

TRISSA
9-23-12 Sunday morning snoozing.....

New photos! Take a look at the gallery photos with my fur family Singer, Sheba, and Big Sam. That's me with my mouth open. =_

Purrs-little Sammie

Update 9-4-12

Ok....Olympics are over and I'm still here hanging out with the dog! What's up with that?

CALLING ALL MEEZER LOVERS>.....

Sammie loves people, dogs and other cats. She loves to lay beside her people or near them on the couch and plays with anything she can find, bags, boxes crinkle balls or balls.. Neat and tidy eater, good litterbox habits; just an all around wonderful meezer and a true rescue story!

Take a look at her pictures.....she's waiting......

S-T-R-E-T-C-H....
Foster mom says for such a tiny, little thing I sure can stretch out but then it's Olympic season you know! Check out my photo gallery for my entire routine.
For adopters who haven't yet met me, I'm what some people call a mono-vision cat since I only have one eye. Read more of my history below..
That happened long before I came into rescue and folks here have taken such good care of me that I'm all healed up now and don't even realize I'm mono-sighted. Yea, sometimes I have to jump up a couple of times to actually hit the couch or bed but heck it's just a routine workout session for me. Got to stay in shape you know for all those adopters out there looking for their very own Meezerettte. Some of foster mom's friends call me "Monamono" and some call me "Pirate Cat", ummm, gives me an idea for Halloween you know...
Take a look at my photo gallery to see if I'm your Gold medal girl, I'm working on perfecting my routine just in time to show it to my new Mom or Dad.

Purrs and headbutts, now back to S-T-R-E-T-C-H........
love, Sammie (Monamono, Pirate Cat)

UPDATE: July 13th - My stitches are gone and Dr. Dowden pronounced me to be all healed up. Only have to wear the collar two more days and then I'm FREE. I have been a super trouper throughout this little bump in my life. Will you cuddle me now that I'm ready for my forever home? Purrs and cuddles, Sammie

U{DATE: July 9th. Doesn't my purple collar '"highlight" my eye? I am such a cute little petite girl and just adorable. Even with my e-collar on, I totally integrated myself with Mama Katie's crew yesterday. I am just fine with them and even fell asleep on the favorite sleeping spot on the couch. No one seemed to mind. And, here's the big new - I get my stitches out on Friday. I can't wait because they do itch and this collar gets in my way when I want to rub my eye and take a bath. Well, watch for more pictures without stitches and this silly collar on Friday. AND, most important, be sure to "ask about me". Lots of love, purrs and headbutts, Sammie

UPDATE: 7/2/12 - Well, I'm now ready for you to "ask about me". I've had my dental (my teeth are clean and a lost only one tooth), the remainder of my eye has been removed and the lids sewn together In another week, I'll get my stitches out. Foster Mom says that I've been a very good girl through out all of my trials and tribulations, so she is ready to post me. NOW, you can "see me" and think about whether or not you would like to adopt me. My being blind in my right eye doesn't seem to bother me a bit. The only thing that gets in my way is this purple cone that JR loaned me to wear. He said it's not bad, but "who does he think he's kidding"? At least I only have to wear it one more week. Mama Katie will post pictures shortly.

Just like Mama Jan said, I am tiny, petite, sweet and a great seal point girl. Love everyone and be sure to ask about ME. Purrs and headbutts, Sammie

Update: 6/21/12

Sammie's vet check revealed additional health needs to be resolved prior to eye surgery. Sammie will have a complete dental done prior to planned eye surgery. Keep an eye on Sammie's bio for the true TAIL of a Siamese Rescue kitty....

Just arrived. More information soon.

Sammie will under go surgery to remove what remains of her right eye on Wednesday of this week. Little is known about the injury but she has clearly been someone's pet and adores any attention she's given. She is tiny, playful, and a super love bug!

More info as she settles in and recuperates from her surgery.

Notes from Home
It was just a year ago today that I brought home my darling Trissa, then known to Rescue as Sammie. I live in the Chicago area, and she was being fostered by Mom Jan in Bloomington, IN. Happily, I was visiting a friend in southern Indiana, so it was easy to just make a small detour on my way home and collect my cat. Thus I did my own transport.

Her description said she was a lap cat, and boy, is she ever! All I have to do is settle in the recliner or lie down on the couch to read, and she's right there! She sleeps with me every night, usually on my pillow; we sort of rest against each other, so I hear her little heartbeat, when it's not drowned out by her purring.

She settled in quickly; she was napping with me by the second day. We had some problems at first with her barfing up hairballs on a distressingly regular basis--sometimes in my bed! After several vet visits, I blundered onto the solution: Laxatone hairball remedy twice a day. We've lately been able to cut back to once a day most times. She still throws up once in awhile, but nothing like what she had been doing those first couple of months. Now it usually happens when she's eaten too fast. She's such a dainty little creature that I hadn't realized at first that she was wolfing her food, but she was. Giving her small portions with a few minutes break in between for her stomach to catch up, has helped also, but I give main credit to the Laxatone. Conveniently available from Amazon, since my local pet stores don't carry it.

The one thing she doesn't like, as with most cats, is having her claws trimmed. I'll never forget the first time at home; it took three adult women to subdue and clip one small cat! We've recently reached the point, however, where I can do one paw at a time, by myself. She still doesn't like it, but at least she's not having hysterics about it.

She's very sociable. I had a small anniversary party for her Saturday, with three close friends. She sat in each one's lap by turns, being a good little hostess.

I'd had some misgivings about adopting a cat, never having had one before, but it's worked out great. I love her dearly and now don't know what I would do without her. Just call us Hugs & Snuggles, Inc.

Dec. 30, 2015 I very sadly had to have my sweet girl put to sleep today. She had lymphoma, a type of cancer, which had reached the point that the vet and I agreed she was having serious discomfort. I gave her the best life I could, and held her as she passed over the bridge. She will always be my 'heart cat.'

Jan. 8, 2017 Yesterday I met Emma, whom I am in the process of adopting, and who I think will be a worthy successor. But Trissa will always be my #1.

Notes from Home
Pluto arrived home a short time ago (with Taylor). He meowed the majority of the way home. As soon as I opened the door of the carrier, Pluto came out and immediately began to explore. About 20 minutes in, he ate some food and explored some more. Boy, can this boy purr! He is now asleep on the couch.

Azizi has been home a little over a month and is a total joy. He is an outgoing, social and loving boy. He loves to play, not only with Taylor, but with his three chi siblings, Paislee, Saylor and even temperamental Laila. He loves to wait and pounce and they seem to enjoy it also. I feel incredibly fortunate to have Taylor and Azizi in my life.

Everybody loves Azizi! Always a social boy-he is becoming more loving. He makes his way in and out of bed throughout the night and even lays/grooms Taylor on occasion. He has the run of the house, but prefers the window seat overseeing the back yard, looking out the front door and any sunny spot. Funny, when the dishwasher is running he strategically places himself on the counter to enjoy the heat produced. Yes, he oversees ALL kitchen duties. We continue to work on the nail trimmings and the dreaded teeth brushing as he is less than pleased with both. He is a real joy!

Azizi is quite the boy and always the scene stealer and loves all the attention. He has even taken to grooming his 14 year old lab sister. All is fine except when he gets a bit overzealous and her patience gives way to annoyance. He is a typical young boy-always looking to get into things and that he does. He is so self-assured and it shows in everything he does. During the day, he can be found in the sunniest spot as he is a sun worshipper.

Wow, a year already! Azizi is thriving! He loves his window seats, which he alternates with Taylor. Sometimes he likes to view the birds/squirrels/rabbits in the back yard and sometimes he prefers to watch the goings on in the front yard. At times, Taylor will be in one and Zi decides he wants it so he jumps up and bothers her just enough to get his way. He just discovered chicken hearts, his new favorite treat, and will do whatever it takes to ensure he gets his share. He is a playful boy with a certain sparkle in his eye much like Dennis the menace. Rest assured he is spoiled and loved.

Azizi continues to be Dennis, but a little less so. He is extremely gentle when my grandchildren come to visit. Zi loves to play with my two-year old granddaughter as they both race to catch the moving light. His coat feels like mink-incredibly perfect. He is more elusive than Taylor, but loves a good nap with Mom. Typically, the early evening brings out his wild side when he tries to engage Taylor in rough play much to her dismay. He is a wonderful little boy.

TAYLOR
Arrived in May with my brother Tigger. We came from a horrid hoarder situation and I only weighed 1.1 pound and I was 2 months old. Meowmy took great care of us and we are now "big" kittens and so loving and playful. My brother Tigger has found his furrever home.

I thought I was going home as well, but it was found I have some defects in my heart and require some follow-up tests (an echocardiogram), and maybe some inexpensive medication, in the future. I don't know I have a problem, I'm just me. And I love meowmy and anyone that will play and love on me. Got a lap? I'll fill it up for you. In fact I will INSIST on being in your lap and being held high on your chest and snuggling under your chin. Hold me like a baby and rub my tummy? I LOVE it! Have another GENTLE FRIENDLY kitten or cat? I'll love them too.

Sooo.... Click on that "ask about me" button if you think you can love me and take care of my medical needs.

Endless headbutts and purrs,

Taylor

Notes from Home
Taylor arrived home a short time ago (about 1 hour). At first she was reluctant to come out of her carrier, but she is now exploring her new environment. She just jumped up next to me and stayed about 10 minutes and is now off to explore again. She is an absolute love as I found out on the trip home.

Taylor has been home for two weeks now and is doing beautifully. Even though she and Azizi (formerly Pluto) are not totally integrated with their siblings (canine sort), they are happy, social and extremely loving. My thanks to everyone at SCRC-not only those involved in Taylor and Azizi's adoption, but to all who give countless hours to the wellbeing of these deserving animals. I would ask all of my fellow adopters not to forget how fortunate we are to be on the receiving end and support SCRC. A very special thanks to Taylor and Azizi's foster mom-she went above and beyond!

Taylor has been home for over a month and has totally won my heart. She is a sweet, loving girl and we have a very strong connection. She enjoys her window seat, playing (on her terms) and sleeping with me. She also enjoys being a well mannered kitchen assistant unlike her brother, Azizi. Whenever I am in the kitchen, I can count on Taylor overseeing the process. She also enjoys being groomed; however, we are working on the teeth brushing aspect as she is definitely not a fan and is strong willed on this issue. Hopefully, I will eventually win. She is an absolute love.

Taylor is queen! No doubt that this girl and I were meant to be together. She is sweet, regal and gentle. She is my personal assistant in whatever chore needs to be done. She enjoys the widow seat, cat tree, anything with feathers and her cat tunnel. In fact, she waits at one end and gently charges when I peek my head in the other end. She had her initial appointment with her cardiologist and is doing well. My goal is to give her the happiest and healthiest life possible.

A first for Taylor-she jumped into my daughters lap this weekend and stayed awhile. Taylor, always sweet and endearing to me, can be elusive when guests come over. Typically, she disappears and comes back down after they leave; however, I asked my daughter to check in on the fur babies while I was away on Saturday. I was amazed when my daughter informed me Taylor sought her out and jumped in her lap for some love. I must admit I was a bit doubtful, but there was video to prove it. I am thrilled for Taylor!

Taylor continues to thrive. She is happy and some may say spoiled, but she deserves every bit. And me-I am thrilled to have her in my life!

What a wonderful year! Taylor continues to be healthy; in fact, she will soon visit her cardiologist for a routine follow-up. She also loves her window seats and enjoys giving face-to-face rubs, which I also LOVE. She enjoys playing on her terms and definitely has a preference for toys. She continues to engage me in tunnel play every time I go near her tunnel maze. She has a wonderful appetite and also loves the new found treat of chicken hearts. She is just so sweet and gentle. Everything revolves around Taylor and I think she likes it that way.

Taylor continues to do well. Her blood work was perfect and the cardiologist found that her condition is stable-great news. Taylor's collection of toys continues to grow and I find them everywhere as she likes to carry a few of her favorites with her. She is a talented little drummer as she paws (taps) paper to hear the sound. She is becoming more tolerant of brushing, but we struggle to get her belly as that is her least favorite part. She also now runs when she sees the toothbrush, but ultimately good for the brushing itself. Happy New Year to all!

ROCKO
So foster Mom was just singing me a song, and it said something like "Jack Frost nipping at your nose". What's the deal? I wouldn't dream of nipping anyone's nose. Let me tell you what I'm great at, though. The nights are getting colder, and I'm a big furry guy who loves to snuggle, so we'l stay nice and warm. Oh, and I love to roll on the floor and get tummy rubs, play with my wand toy, purr and purr and did I mention purr? Ask about me, and I can be on my way to you before those winter nights get colder.

Notes from Home
Three years have flown by since we adopted our dear Rocko. He is a BIG BOY---very dense in weight, but a good hug, for sure. He weighs more than our dog---also a rescue. Lots to love.

Our third pet, an elderly female Siamese (Madison) has been his adopted son. This has helped her adjust since we lost her son to respiratory problems just prior to adopting Rocko. They are good for each other.

Rocko is a sweetheart. About a year and a half ago---he was going in one direction and I in another, but at the last moment he switched gears and went right under my foot. It was the summer and I had on light sandals, but it scared him and he reacted by biting my foot. He never bit before and has not since, but I suspect it was just a reaction. Fortunately, he was not hurt. That was a Friday evening. I had been bitten and scratched on different occasions by our cats over the years---mainly out of play so I didn't think anything of it. By that Sunday morning, my leg was all swollen so I went to a walk-in clinic. We live in PA and I learned it is a law here that the clinic must report all animals bites to the State Dept. of Health. They called me and were very understanding, I explained he is a gentle boy and didn't mean to bite---it was me that stepped on him. The reason I am sharing this is that thank goodness Rocko was up to date on all his shots---especially rabies, otherwise, they might have had to keep him for testing, etc.

He is a love and in the early morning follows around the first person awake to be sure he makes his presence known. Otherwise, he is a humble boy who often let's Madison take the first crack at a fresh bowl of cat food or a treat patiently waiting for his turn.

He did have a couple instances of peeing in the wrong places which was very frustrating for us. We did all the usual tricks that appear to work. The best thing was Cat Attract Litter and carrying him down to the litterbox as much as possible and placing him in it. He was tested and there was no infection---probably just a play for territory with the dog, It also happened when we kept my daughter's Siamese for a week when her family was on vacation. So now, we just keep the bedroom off limits for him.

We love our guy and will always remember the interesting and thorough process this organization uses for adoption. Madison is up in years and we might be knocking at the door in the future again to adopt when the time comes.

Mrrrroow! I am Paco. I know that I have a brave name, but I'm actually a bit of a scaredy cat... Only at first, though. If you sit down and give me an open lap, I'll be in it in a New York minute! I love to provide my services as a bed warmer. Surely that is a need since it's getting to be winter! If you have a bed warmer position open, please inquire

Notes from Home
JANUARY 5, 2017:
Sir Lancelot Longtail has been enjoying his 2 brothers and sister Phoebe. Phoebe is a 7 year old Siamese Blue Point. While she is considerably smaller than Lancelot, every morning they wake one another up by wrestling each other. It depends upon the morning, sometimes Lance wins, sometimes Phoebe wins. It's adorable to watch them get along so well. At night, they will snuggle and groom one another on the love seat. Lance is a gentleman and lets Phoebe get first dibs on breakfast and lunch. Lance's newest favorite treat toy is the white and green mouse by Temptations. He goes crazy over the treats and has learned how to knock the treats out of the small hole. He is still the sweetest baby boy with a laid back personality.
Love, love ALL 4 of my Siamese. XOXO, ~PAM

JANUARY 9, 2011:
I picked up our new 'lil guy on December 9th, 2011 in Lafayette, Ind, a 3 hour drive from our home in Deerfield, Ill. It was instant love at first sight. His foster mom named him Paco but, we are still working on re-naming him. We have 3 additional Siamese at our home: Diego (Seal), Sherlock (Lilac) and Phoebe (Blue), Paco makes the 4th being a Chocolate. The 2 male cats have adopted him but, the female is taking a little longer. She was "the baby" of the family and now Paco is. It usually takes 4-6 weeks and I am confident all cats will get along. Right now Phoebe and Paco sit 4 feet apart from one another and either have a stare down or they hiss.
Paco is super friendly, sweet disposition, palyful and a snuggler. We LOVE him!
Need to take a new photo of Paco and re-name him yet, the Holidays have kept us busy. ~Pam

JANUARY 7th, 2012: I have finally made a decision on Paco's new name, I have re-named him: Sir Lancelot Longtail. My boys have dubbed him longtail due to his tail being almost 14" long. I like the name Lancelot, he was a handsome knight who help save England.
He has acclimated well to our 2 male cats, the female and him our having hissing issues. I think Phoebe is just being a little stinker cause she likes to jump up and scare him. She is a prima donna.
Otherwise, he is a very good eater, uses the litter box and snuggles with me. ~Pam

March 13th, Lancelot continues to flourish in his new home. He is very playful with his 2 older brothers: Diego & Sherlock. Miss Phoebe is still not adjusting to the newbie, she is very jealous. I am hoping this changes in May when my son Mathew comes home from college. Matt is Phoebe's "dad".
Lancelot is a very early riser, usually before the sun comes up I hear him playing with a mouse or rabbit's foot, batting it around on the floor. He is a VERY healthy eater and has learned his new name.

JUNE 11, 2012 Sir Lancelot Longtail is the sweetest little boy :). He is very happy in his new home and has adjusted very nicely. He loves to play with most anything. He is an early riser and usually wakes me by playing with my feet or hands. He has put on a few pounds which looks good on him. He has a special lined basket that he likes to sleep in. As I write this e-mail I can hear him running back and forth upstairs, he is constantly playing.

KATO
A Geezer Meezer back into the program, I am not that keen on other cats which makes me sad and worried that I may have a hard time finding a home. That having been said, I did live with a bunch of other cats, but sometimes got picked on, so I'm leary. I'm on a kidney diet for at my age I need to keep an eye on my levels. Once I get over the worried look in my eyes, I'll settle in and be ever so appreciative of your time and attention!

This cat is not suitable for children under the age of 5 (ie 5 and over is OK). This is typically a cat that is shy and a child might scare it, or one that has a potential to bite or play too hardNot with kids under 5

MONTY
Monty is a joy to foster and will bring you nothing but joy if you choose him. Where is his forever home?????

Yes, he does have a problem with his gums but the medicine makes it all better. When he does need his medicine he takes it very easily in a Pill Pocket so no worries there PLUS it's VERY inexpensive AND he has an adoption scholarship to help offset some of the cost. Such a deal, right? So these are the challenges he will bring but let's talk about the rewards, shall we? He is super sweet and cuddly and very easy to get along with. He will fill all your needs as your one and only or he can live with a nice girl kitty if you already have one of those. So what do you say, can you give a guy a break and ask about him so I can at least tell you all about him and then you can decide if you want to adopt him or not? Please?

TAS
Owned my entire life (6 years, came with vet records) by a little old man who could no longer care for me due to his health issues, brought me to his vet, and they called SCRC, and here I am. It doesn't get much better than this in Rescue - a cat where we have med records, a cat where we know I was well loved, a cat whom we know was a great cat, a cat who just ended up with an unfortunate circumstance and now needs a new home. I would have to guess at a quiet home, I have no experience with other cats but that doesn't mean I couldn't learn, ditto with dogs, children okay but remember I'm used to quiet and little old men type homes. Always been a great cat, I can easily get back to that place with the right assistance.

Notes from Home
Jan 2017 - Tas was 6 when he came to live with us. We didn't think it as right to change his unusual name. He is a lovely boy, sweet and affectionate. He loves his Greenie treats which he gets every afternoon at 4. He knows when it's 4:00 and will remind his humans that it is time. His Vet says eating Greenies has given him healthy teeth. In June, 2016 we discovered that he is diabetic. Since then he has required insulin injections twice a day. He lost several pounds last summer, but is looking like a thinner version of his usual self.

LUCY
So far I'm typical kitten! Busy active a little wild and crazy; well socialized; anxious for good food and a lot of playtime! Need a high energy household for me! More info as I settle in!

Notes from Home
Jan 2017 = Lucy is our perfect little lady. Full of energy, always running, she greets guests and workmen at the door and shows them around. She had her teeth cleaned in Jan 1016 with an excellent outcome. Other than that she hasn't needed to go to the Vet except for her annual check-ups. Lucy likes to be near or on top of whatever we are doing, but she isn't a lap cat. She loves Christmas, wrappings and especially her tree, camping out underneath for the duration.
