Kesey continues to be a mama's boy with all of his affection and attention. We now play Fetch every day, which is great exercise for my slightly chubby boy. Both he and Jada have taken to sleeping on the bed with me at night, and they are always right there to wake me when my alarm goes off. He is the best about drinking water and the first to seek treats and their special canned food at night.

JADA
My name is Jada Marie and my brother Mekisiq and I are looking for our perfect family. We've been with foster mom for just over a week and it has been a busy one. We had a spa treatment and then a dental and I was spayed! Foster mom says I am a bit of a project since I am a little unsure about people but I am a very sweet and gentle girl. I love to play and will allow petting once I trust you, I'm just not as snuggly as Mekisiq can be and need someone who wants to work with me on that. Mekisiq and I want to stay together so please keep in mind we are a package deal!

Notes from Home
It's been six months, and my little Jada has come such a long way! Instead of hiding under the bed most of the day/evening, she is more out and about. She is also seeking my affection far more than ever, including bringing me her toys and jumping up for snuggles. She lets me hold her and pet her, especially in the mornings. I am so proud of her!

Notes from Home
October 16th - It will be 2 weeks tomorrow since receiving Blu (aka Tina) in our house. She is a wonderful kitten with lots of love to go around. She has settled in very nicely and loves running around the house. She's super quick, a climber and gets into everything. It's like having a toddler in the house. She's very vocal in the mornings and will meow until I pick her up and plop her on the bathroom vanity while I get my makeup on for work. She absolutely loves when I let the bathroom sink faucet trickle; she loves to paw at the water, stick her head under the water and just lay down in the sink. She gets absolutely soaking wet, but I love to towel her off. We love having her as she adds an energy to the household. And, trust me, this kitten has SO much energy!! We should have named her "Bunny" as in the Energizer Bunny.

Blu and Marley have come a long way. They can finally be nose to nose w/o hissing at one another. However, if Marley feels she is invading his special places (ie., my bedroom, his eating mat in the kitchen, or if he's sitting in his tree house) he will hiss and swat at her. I am always near and able to remove Blu from the situation and give her something else to interest her. In the next week I will try longer intervals for both of them. At this time, I am extremely happy with their progress. Blu still resides in Stephen's bedroom for the most part, but gets plenty of play time in the whole house while Marley suns himself on the back patio. By the time he's ready to come back into the house, Blu is thoroughly exhausted and ready for a nap in her room.

Blu has her first vet visit this afternoon. She feels a bit heavier than when she arrived - she's a good eater - so we'll see how she is growing. Am sure she'll get a clean bill of health.

October 18th - Blu received a clean bill of health at the vet and will go back in March for a follow up. She's such a great kitten and didn't make a peep at Dr. Seerly's. She and Marley have come a bit further in their relationship and can now be in the same room together without hissing and swatting at one another. I am happy and think they will become friends at some point. For now supervision is still necessary and Blu will go into Stephen's room when we're not home.

October 21st - Hey, what do you know......Marley and Blu have eaten breakfast together the last two days w/o hissing or slapping one another. They do go nose-to-nose and sniff each other for what seems like an eternity. This morning, Blu was chasing Marley around the house. She would catch up with him and lay down in front of him. He's swat at her and then it was her turn to run. Was very surprised to see the two of them laying down a few feet apart face-to-face. Not sure whose watching whom. But it's hysterical to watch. Had the water bottle at the ready for the last couple days, but have not needed it. May attempt having Blu out of her bedroom overnight during the weekend to see how it goes. So far, it's a beautiful thing!!

November 3rd - We've had Blu 4 weeks today and are absolutely THRILLED with her. She brings such an energy to the house. Energy that seems to rub off on Marley. They chase each other, bat at each other, sniff each other, etc. He seems content with her presence and will go hide when he's had enough of her ambush antics. There's no way I could have kept her behind closed doors after 2 weeks. It was absolutely the right time to get them together. Blu already has a few nicknames.....Bluberry, Blu Bonnet, BluBelle and White Devil or Minx(when she misbehaves and gets into mischief). She has unrolled numerous toilet paper rolls in the front bathroom and I recently found little paw prints on the stove while cleaning it; obviously, she's up there during the day when we're not home. My son recently asked if I was happy adopting her to which I replied "I think it was a great choice!" His response, "I agree. I like having her here." It's a WIN-WIN for everyone!

FRANKIE
Hi, I'm Frankie!
My new Meom says I'm such a good boy. My owner passed away and I was taken to a shelter to be put to sleep. Well I'm not sure what that means; I like to sleep but I also like my people company to pet me and rub my chin.
I had an eye infection at the shelter but that's better now. My Meom says she's going to take some better pictures of me so check back to see them soon.
I know you're looking at all those little Flame Point Whipper-Snappers on this site but if you ask about me I promise I won't be making all that noise at night like those crazy kids! Don't get me wrong, I like to bat things around too and play with feather wands.
So hit that 'ask about me' button and Meom will tell you what she knows about me.
Chirps, Frankie

Notes from Home
Frankie is doing quite well in his new home. He spent a week in isolation and since then he has pretty much had the run of the place. I think he would like to be friends with my other cat, Molly, but so far she is having no part of it. She is still hissing & growling at him, but he just ignores her. He is a good eater with most foods, but is turning up his nose at pate foods. So far he has not jumped up in my lap - but I am taking things slow with him. Purrs a lot when he is petted. He has an appointment tomorrow with the vet, but I don't have any real "issues" to discuss - other than the fact he is still pulling hair from his back. He is a beautiful cat - and we are enjoying him!!

Here we are - - 6 months after bringing Frankie home. Frankie has been a wonderful addition to our home. He is really a good cat. He is very loving (however so far he is not a lap cat) and wants a lot of attention. He especially LOVES being brushed - - almost as much as eating - - (well probably not!) His litter box habits are excellent. He never has an accident. He and Molly are even tolerating each other - - they both sleep on our bed at opposite ends during the day. I might add that he spends a good part of his day and night napping. He does let us know he is ready to eat at 5:30 every morning. I did discover that Frankie does not like thunderstorms. He runs in our pantry and hides behind the garbage can. He has pretty much stopped pulling hair from his back. I think that must have been a nervous condition. We want to thank everyone involved for making this a smooth transition for Frankie as well as us. All the volunteers do such a wonderful job. I wanted to send a special "thanks" to Carol - Frankie's foster mother. She put up with all my e-mails and dumb questions and was always there to help in any way she could.

November 1, 2015 was Frankie's one year anniversary with us. What a character he is!! We just love him! He has certainly become a welcome addition to our home. He has given us a couple of scares when we could not find him. He is a master at finding a very small place to take a nap. He is a pretty big cat, but he squeezes into the smallest areas. He has been to the vet for a checkup and received a clean bill of health. He and his step-sister Molly are getting along pretty well. They like to scrap a little, but nothing serious - - it's more like a game. One think about Frankie is that he never misses a meal!! He is a bit of a pest anytime I am in the kitchen. I guess he thinks when anyone is in the kitchen they should feed him. His favorite time of the day is his brushing. Next favorite thing to do is sleep!! He is still does not like strangers coming into the house and usually he hides until they are gone. I wonder if he thinks he might have to move again?? All in all he just a delight and we are so happy we adopted him. Again I must mention how much we appreciate the help we received from his foster mother Carol and the Adoption Center as well. You all do a wonderful job. Also, I would encourage anyone to adopt an older cat. It has really worked out well for us.

Notes from Home
11/1/2015

I don't know what it is about my sweet Ruthie that makes me love her so much, but just the thought of her makes my heart happy. She is not the same little girl that she was just a year ago and the transformation has been astonishing and wonderful to watch.

This summer I went on vacation for about five days and she and her brother Vinnie were well taken care of with twice daily visits by my wonderful pet sitters. Evidently, Ruthie missed me while I was gone and has been my shadow ever since. Never a big cuddler except at night, Ruthie is never far from my side and spends every evening snuggled on the couch with me. Her Meezer voice, once used sparingly and quietly, has grown in epic proportions and now directs me to her every need. Turn on the faucet at 3 a.m., you say Ruthie? No problem, your wish is my command.

I'm so thankful for this transformation and am enjoying it while it lasts. Now, if we could only get past the fear of letting me cut her nails so I wouldn't have to stage a sneak attack every fourth weekend and scoop her up and stuff her in her crate for a trip to the vet to let the professionals take care of it. Oh well, you can't have everything!

10/30/2014
Three years with sweet little Ruthie. My heart just melts when I see her and now that she has found her little squeaky voice, sometimes I think it will downright explode from love.

Ruthie still isn’t much of a cuddler. She won’t sit on your lap or even next to you on the couchmuch, but she has decided that the bed is a great place to cuddle with mom every once in a while. And if there’s time for an afternoon nap, she’s right there ready to keep you warm. Ruthie is pretty even tempered until it’s time for a nail trim. She still won’t let me do it so once a month I have to trick her into letting me pick her up and stuff her in her cat carrier for a trip to the vet. I get loving reports from the vet techs, like “Hey, we were on the last paw before she tried to kill us this time.”

Ruthie and her brother Vinnie both love to spend time watching the birds in the bird bath outside the window. That’s their favorite pastime.

Ruthie really changes so much as she gets older and it’s such a great adventure. She is one special cat.

(10/31/13)
It seems like it’s been much longer than just two years ago that Ruthie and her brother Vinnie came to liv1e with me!

Princess Ruthie already knew she was the prettiest and best cat ever even before she appeared in the 2014 Siamese Cat 4Rescue calendar. Now she just prances around wearing her invisible tiara and expects both Vinnie and me to swoon whenever she walks by, which of course we do.

Ruthie has really come out of her shell in the last six months. Never much of a talker before, she now has plenty to say and her little voice makes me laugh and smile every time I hear it. It’s more of a chirp than a meow and it is adorable. She has also seemed to decide that I am hers during the past couple of months and spends much more time cuddled next to me on the couch in the evenings. She even spends most nights sleeping near me for at least a little while now.

I love this little girl more than I could ever have imagined and I am so happy to share my home and my life with her.

(10/12)
Ruthie surprises me daily. She and her brother Vinnie have a great time playing together with all of their new toys and are so fun to watch. She is still timid in certain situations, but it has been a pleasure to watch her come out of her shell. She is quite a little princess and I can't wait to watch her grow up.

Ruthie has turned out to be the princess I knew she would be and, in fact, has asked for a tiara for Christmas. She is just the sweetest, most beautiful girl and I am so happy she is a part of my life.

Ruthie is much smaller than her brother Vinnie and is much quieter as well. Every once in a while she’ll throw out a meow and it always makes me laugh because it’s so dainty and cute. She’s independent, but affectionate on her terms. She is wary of strangers, but getting more and more brave. Ruthie is not a lap cat, but is always nearby. Vinnie is a bit of a bully and every once in a while she will decide that she has had enough and turns the tables on him. She isn’t afraid of anything and runs to the windows during storms to check things out. She and Vinnie both do that.

We recently moved and once we got to the new house and the commotion was over, she handled it like a champ. She loves all the space in the new house and the wide window sills. For some reason she has decided that sleeping at the foot of the bed is the place to be at night now, which she never did at the old place. She does turn into a crazed maniac when it’s time to clip her claws, so I finally gave up and now she gets loaded into the carrier for a trip to the vet when she starts to become Ruthie Scissorhands. She HATES the vet and we have to take the carrier apart to get to her (after I have to spend an hour outsmarting her just to get her in the carrier in the first place), but she hasn’t figured out that if she would just let me clip them it could all be avoided. Maybe someday.

I absolutely love Ruthie to death. She just makes my heart melt.

VINNIE (VINCENT FORSYTH)
Just wait until you see my more recent pictures! What a handsome guy I am. And I just love everyone!
Notes from Home
11/1/2014

Not much has changed with Vinnie in the past year. He still wins for best cuddler, especially in the mornings on weekends. I have no choice but to stay in bed far longer than I should and cuddle with my boy.

The time change last night was fun. Vince (and sister Ruth) didn't really understand that 4:15 a.m. is not an acceptable time to get up and have breakfast. 5:15 a.m. is also not an acceptable time, but I can't seem to convince them of that either and they trained me early on to meet or exceed all of their needs.

Vinnie enjoys watching the butterflies and birds that frequent our backyard in between his naps and his favorite thing to do is sleep in front of the fireplace once the colder weather sets in.

Vinnie is a wonderful boy and I am glad he allows me to be a part of his life.

10/30/2014
Three years! It’s already been three years I’ve spent constantly vacuuming up giant chunks of hair from my two very non fur-challenged kids? Wow.

Vinnie remains a hot mess, but his award as Best Cat Cuddler of all Cats Ever helps us get through the evenings where he runs around house making noises like he’s possessed by the cat devil and hurling himself at windows. He’s a sweet boy though he does still like to bully his sister a bit. That seems to be better as he gets older. He’s also become a bit friendlier to strangers but don’t ring the doorbell because that means he’ll take off running for his spot in his box under the bed. Something about a doorbell, even if it’s on TV, scares him to death. Thankfully, in the past year he has figured out that if he lets me trim his nails, he doesn’t have to go to the vet every month so that’s been a nice change.

His sister Ruthie and I love him very much despite his craziness. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

10/31/13
What is there to say about Vinnie? He’s a crazy, crazy snowshoe with a big voice, giant blue eyes and even bigger hair. He has always been the cuddliest of the two that adopted me two years ago and does a fantastic job keeping me warm on cold nights.

Vinnie can still be a bit of a bully and likes to pick fights with his sister, Ruthie, but now and again the tables will turn and I will turn my head to see Ruthie in hot pursuit and Vinnie running for his life. I always tell him that karma is a you know what! He’s the one that sees ghosts and chases things that aren’t there and is still a very early riser, usually waking me up for breakfast and a play session by 5:30 a.m. I can't wait to see what happens when we change the clocks next weekend. He will spend hours in front of the oven or refrigerator if he thinks there might be a toy stuck underneath and loves to watch the birds and squirrels out the window. Vinnie is by far the strangest cat I have ever had the pleasure of spending time with, but I wouldn’t trade his cuddles and fishy kisses for the world.

(10/12)
Vinnie is quite a character. He and sister Ruthie have so much energy! It has been fun to watch him transition to his new home. He is constantly making me laugh.

Vinnie, Vinnie…what a mess. Vinnie is a big needy boy who wants and demands attention at all times. He is very jealous of his sister Ruthie if I have the nerve to love on her without including him. Good thing I have two good petting hands.

Vinnie is a lover and has recently decided that my lap is the place to be if I am sitting on the couch. He’s the first lap cat I have ever had, so that has been a fun new development. He is the greeter of the family and sees complete strangers as potential people that will adore him. Vinnie has the biggest mouth I have ever heard and a huge vocabulary of different sounds. I never know what he is talking about and I’m pretty sure he doesn’t either. Prior to the move we made about a month and a half ago, Vinnie would be up at 5am every day demanding breakfast. Since the move he has backed off that a bit. He also sleeps on the bed now, managing to take up half of it by stretching out his 11 pound body to the max.

Vince was scared during the move and did not like the commotion. So much so, that on the day prior to the move, but after our belongings had been loaded into the truck, he freaked out and tried to jump over me as I was lying on the floor and gave me an honest to goodness black eye when he evidently misjudged the height of my face and hit my cheek bone with tornado force. It took almost a month for it to heal and everyone enjoyed the “My cat body slammed me” story.

Vinnie has more hair than I have ever seen on a cat, but he is beautiful. He’s a bully and is relentless some nights chasing his sister Ruthie around the house before it turns into a kitty brawl, usually at 2 a.m. I do think most days that he’s certifiably insane, but I love him very much nonetheless.

ISABELLA
My foster meowm keeps saying "too much cuteness one one small package to describe"! I think that pretty much describes how she feels about me!

I am a little gal & need to put on a few pounds before I can have some sort of "procedure" done. I'm not sure what that all means, but I know that I can go to my forever home in a month or so!

In the meantime, I'm just going to enjoy relaxing & I'll get to meet some othere kittens in the next room sometime during the week of June 8th. Until then, I'm just going to enjoy being pampered & start telling my foster meowm about my likes and dislikes! So far, not much seems to be on the dislike list!

I look forward to meeting you at that "click" button!
Purrs,
Isabella

Isabella is a beautiful, active kitten. Last week, she was hiding more than usual and her right eye was inflamed and winky. Raj's eye was inflamed too. Our veterinarian saw both of them right away and diagnosed them as having a chlamydia infection. Isabella had a fever of 106 at her dr visit. Veterinarian gave them each a shot and sent them home with oral amoxicillin and an opthalmic ointment. Isabella became more active the next day and was back to normal. Oral and opthalmic dosing will continue twice a day for each cat until Saturday.

Aside from the sickness, Isabella is very playful, she and Raj tumble and wrestle all day long. They are growing, eating and filling their litter boxes faithfully. the perfect pets.

Oct 30, 2015 Isabella is beautiful, healthy and well behaved. she is actually more skittish than she was when she first came home. we're working on that with her. She loves her chow and her boyfriend, Raj; the 2 of them play and nap the day away. what a sweetie pie.

RAJ
Yes...I'm another little fella my foster meowm felt my name should come from The Big Bang Theory since I arrived on Memorial Day Weekend!

Am I not adorable?? I'm all alone in my playpen & watch my other friends in the next playpen, as I've had a little cold that I'm almost over, but until I'm finished with my meds, I need to stay by myself. Don't you feel for me?? Poor lonely little me...I'm Raj & I'm not going to disappoint, as I'm a sweet kitten, however, I do have a tiny attitude! I'm setting my preferences from the git go with my foster meowm, but I think she likes me cause I gave her a kiss!!

Since I'm so small, it will be several weeks before I can come home. I hope you have a friend for me, as I'll need a friend to keep me company unless you're home all the time!

Purrs,
Raj
Notes from Home
Raj is healthy, growing like a weed and seems to be happy. He is becoming the more affectionate of the pair. While he still enjoys playing with Isabella, he will now climb up onto our laps for pets and purrs, which makes us Very Happy.

We couldn't love this beauty boy more.

October 30, 2015 Raj is wonderful - a lovey playful beauty with cashmere-soft fur. We couldn't be happier with him. He is healthy and weighs in at 8 pounds this morning. His coloring hasn't changed much; he's still snowy-white with blue striped points. He seems to enjoy his cat paradise.

BEA
Here I sit broken hearted....not really but I think it's funny.
I'm a happy go lucky kinda kitty.
There are a few things I will insist on - toys (gotta have toys, I really like those fuzzy mice thingies), good eats (oh yeah...), clean litterbox (I will help you scoop), and other furkids I can play with (and who can tolerate me).
What I really enjoy is a nice cuddly lap when I wanna take a nap (oh I'm a poet too!!!).
I gots me plenty of tortietude so the toys help keep me entertained when you can't.
I even likes dogs. Yeah dogs. I like to say good morning to the big dog here by jumping on her back leg.
So if you will supply me with things that'll make me happy, I can supply you with lots of stuff that'll make you happy. Love, life and laughter.

POUTO
Looking fore a very well mannered, classy girl who just wants to sit with you and purr? Would you like a companion to share quiet moments with? If this is the type of kitty you are looking for, ask about me!

My dense fur is like sable, and my eyes are like twin sapphires. I won't scratch where you don't want me to, because my front feet don't have claws, and I don't jump up on anything. My toilet habits are meticulous as well. I am very calm, but I do chase a toy now and then, and love to chat with you.

I would love to go home to a quiet household where my calmness would be appreciated, and would love to be your only cat.. Ask about me, and it could be your lap I'm sitting on!
Notes from Home
Putto is doing well and is a welcomed addition to our family! Rest assured that she will always be loved and cared for. I would like to thank Kathi Meenehan and Sandra Trower for all their wonderful help, as well as the vet who took her in after being left on the doorstep. Putto's name may have to be corrected in your records.

Thanks so much again!

11/28/2013 I have uploaded a picture of Putto on the bed. She no longer hides under beds, but apparently feels so comfortable and safe now that she can nap on top of the beds in order to be with us; it is amazing but true that cats enjoy the company of humans, different species though be.

Putto shows signs of bonding; she comes when called and actually follows me from room to room to be near me.

I had been advised that Putto would throw-up non-hairball related vomit fairly frequently; thus the reason for her special “sensitive stomach” diet. And she did do so for the first few days. This has completely ceased. My intuition tells me that this behavior was psychosomatic and related to long term apprehension, rejection, and a feeling of being unwanted over her 6 year lifetime. I believe that you can’t fool a cat. This highly sensitive feline now perceives (and rightly so) that she is genuinely wanted and loved.

Putto has zero interest in the many cat toys we had waiting for her upon her arrival, including wands and catnip. Maybe if I take them out of the bathroom and leave them around the house…

As I am writing this, the simple presence of Putto here snoozing on the bed is a sliver of warm sunlight brings me joy. I again want to thank both Kathi and Sandra.

I would describe Putto’s adoption as one of the most successful ever!

Puto Chronicles

Putto, AKA Shelby, AKA Pookie, AKA Pukala, has made the transition from dry cat food to wet. I had wasted considerable money in vain attempts to switch Putto to wet food, and had in fact become resigned to perhaps a lifetime of dry food for her; but then something completely beyond my control happened.

My daughter and her live-in-shacking-up boyfriend (who calls me “dad”) came for a 12 day visit. While not initially planned for, my daughter brought her cat Ming with her as it was too expensive to find a sitter.

Ming is a large male mixture of Siamese, “snow shoe” and something else. His head is huge. To me, he is strikingly like one of the wild cats that frequent my neighborhood and nearby woods. He is the most docile animal you will ever meet. Because Putto was advertised as needing to be in a one-cat-home due to bullying, we sequestered Ming to the Florida and rec rooms. They did sniff each other through the glass doors and Putto would initially hiss.

One day the inevitable happened: someone left the door open. Putto went into Ming’s room and there was a bit of hissing. However, with amazing rapidity, it was all too apparent that the two were getting along just fine. It was Putto who was drawn to Ming and sought out his presence. One day I was amazed when I saw that Putto had commandeered Ming’s food bowl and was scarfing down Ming’s Natural Choice duck pate.

As I had given up on wet food, I had bought a large bag of dry. I thought I would let Putto finish it and then switch to duck, or perhaps give both simultaneously. However, Putto would have none of it. After her first taste of duck, she refused to take a single bite of dry. After three days of not eating anything but with dry available to her, I opened a can of duck that Ming had left behind. Putto ate the whole can over a period of several hours and wanted more this morning.

It should be noted that Putto is very lady-like in her dinning habits. She will only eat a moderate amount and will not gorge.

I had been advised that Putto was on a “sensitive stomach” dry food because she threw up a lot. My institution told me that there was nothing physically wrong with Putto and that this frequent vomiting was due to transitional stress. If I had one word to describe Putto, it would be “high-strung”. Putto threw up a lot when she first arrived here, but once she became accustomed to her quiet and caring surroundings, she ceased throwing up. However, when the three visitors invaded, she started throwing up all over the place. Now, a couple of days after they left, Putto has completely ceased throwing up.

Putto is not yet a lap cat, but she is close to it. She will jump up on the sofa and sit sphinx like against my thigh, allowing me to stroke her. Feeling her beautiful coat lowers my blood pressure by several points.

Putto is slow to accommodate change. She is still in the process of transitioning even after all this time.

She is going to the vet next week to see why she frequently scratches under her chin. She will be weighed again while there.

I believe I know something in general about Siamese cats that are cross-eyed like Putto. As I have been myopic all my life, I have an inkling of what it is like to be visually challenged. I believe Putto’s eye condition causes a more timid and apprehensive personality. At summer camp as a child, I was berated for being too timid because I would not get in the boxing ring with the other kids. But they didn't understand that severe myopia is a big disadvantage in a fight.

Putto is our treasure.

Putto has settled in nicely as a new member of our family and is loved, pampered and well taken care of. She is a very gentle cat and has taken to me. I have to laugh at her subtle ways and mannerisms. She is very welcomed in our home. Thank you for recommending the CatIt drinking fountain and thank the people who make those plush snoozing beds. They are a joy to cats!

I tried to send a photo along with Putto's six month statue report, but I'm not sure it was successful. Please update my phone number: OLD 386-668-9429 NEW

Putto got her annual physical a few days ago and received a clean bill of health! Do I need to send the report? I tried to go on the web site to make an update, but I couldn't figure out how to do it! Perhaps the web site has changed since I brought Putto home two years ago?

It breaks my heart to think Putto was thrown away in a cardboard box, quite unwanted. But do you know who does want her? ME!
