OZZY
Hi there,

I won't be ready to go until the end of September. Just got here...I love attention, very social, and I do love other cats.

I MUST have a kitty friend. I am a crybaby when I'm alone. My first named is Spoiled and I want my last name to be Rotten :)

Love, Aussie

PHIL
A croaky frog, froggy croak, not sure which one I am, but what a gem!
Notes from Home
Hi all,

Today Phil has been with us for a month, and we couldn't be happier. He had adapted so well and he also had gain some weight! He is really playful and was our attention at all times. It's really cute. He is not a cuddle cat for the moment but he is still gaining confidence and is starting to get closer, sleep by our side at nights, etc. He has a favorite toy which we have to hide because if not he just wants us to play with him all day long! Haha.

When he fisrt got here de had an ear infection but now he is just perfect. Also we had some visitor staying some days with us and he behaved like a charm, asking her to pet him, etc. It was really cool to see how he adapted to living with someone new for a few days.

Phil has two favorites spots, one of them being my work's chair, so every time I get to get a glass of watern, etc. it only takes him 10 seconds to be in my spot looking at me, haha.

We'll update new photos soon.

Thank you all again for the great job tou are doing everyday!

NICKIE
Love to be held, love to sit on laps, love to be loved! I'm a very Siamese vocal guy who has lived with other cats, I'm pretty irritated at them here at the Center, however, so unless you're willing to do a very long slow integration, I think I'd do best as the only cat. I have quite a bit of information that comes with me so give a click and ask about me and I'll tell you all about my handsome self! (I LOVE dogs!)

Nickie has been here one month, and he is AMAZING! He has been snuggling, purring, and head-butting since the moment we brought him home. I've never met a more confident, well-adjusted cat. He had ZERO transition time... Stepped out of the carrier, looked around, then crawled up into my lap and went to sleep. He gets along well with his new Siberian Husky sister, and she is getting used to sharing her space and people with him. The only issue we have had to work through is getting him to understand that I prefer he not sleep directly on top of my face/head at night. He has resigned himself to sharing the pillow with me or just snuggling against me, which I very much appreciate!

Purrs,

Tuptim
Notes from Home
Tuppie is doing just fantastic. Jersey is enjoys putting her in a headlock and roughly grooming her, especially her ears. They chase each other up and down our stairs and around the house. The two of them often sleep rolled up together and are just too cute. Tuppie is so sweet and enjoys sleeping on laps. At night she sleeps on my youngest daughter or with me.

Jersey and Tuppie have both made friends with a neighborhood cat this week. The two of them like to sit at the screen door and one afternoon the next door neighbor's cat showed up on our porch. They like to sniff each other through the screen and Jersey purrs like crazy, while Tuppie rubs against the screen door.

ROSIE
Now I know everyone wants a typical seal point Siamese, how boring! I am a siamese mix and very unique, you will NEVER see another siamese that looks like me. I would be called a torbie point is there was such a thing - and if there isn't there ought to be. I have that stripedy tiger tail, and my other points are an orange/tan. Quite striking, and definately one of a kind. And yes I do have Blue eyes, I just hate my picture taken. I have discoved that it's fun to play with the other cats, and with catnip toys. I like to run through the house, either by myself or with the others. I'm a little shy, but I do like to be pet and that makes me purr. I have found my voice, and I like to chirp and trill. But I am terrified of the carrier and crates so no long transports for me please!

Notes from Home
10/9/15: Over the past year Rosie has really become a different cat. She and adoptive brother Kyo (VA9636) had a very rocky start when I brought him home but now they get along better than I could have ever hoped. As I type this update, they're both over sleeping in a Millie bed (he's in it, she's sleeping on the edge because there isn't enough room for both of them). They shared a bath, or should I say, Kyo bathed her and she thoroughly enjoyed it. At night Rosie always comes upstairs to lay on me while I read or watch TV before going to bed. Then she and Kyo sleep with me or my husband. It's always both of them or none!

8/19/14: In July, Rosie and adoptive brother Kyo made the move to the new house. At first, Rosie seemed to be heartbroken to be taken away from her friends Molly and Achilles (my parent's cats). When we released her out of the carrier, she immediately slunk over to her litter box, curled up in it, and cried and cried. It just about broke my heart, so I scooped her up, carried her upstairs, and put her on my lap and loved her up. It took her a few days to adjust, but now she's doing great! Rosie wasn't much of a talker, except for meal time at my parent's house, but now that she's out on her own she has quite a bit to say! She's always sitting at the top of the stairs waiting for me when I get home and I almost don't have to set an alarm clock in the mornings because she's there bright and early to make sure someone gets up to feed her. She still thinks she's the boss of Kyo, but she's finding that she can't always tell him what to do.

3/13: Rosie has been with us now for a whole year! We have already had our yearly checkup, and things are going great. She has put on a bit of weight, but the vet says as long as she doesn't gain any more she'll be fine. Rosie is quite the piggy at feeding time; she thinks anything that's left in a bowl is free game. We have cut her food portion back in hopes that she won't eat as much. Rosie has become such a delightful cat. She comes running when I call her and she absolutely loves to curl up on a nice, warm lap. I couldn't imagine not having her. Looking back at some of her pictures from her foster and some of her first pictures with me, it looks like Rosie's points have darkened quite a bit. Check out the new pictures and see what I mean.

12/20: Merry Christmas everyone! I've uploaded some new pictures of Rosie checking out our Christmas tree and a few other pictures as well. To see another picture of Rosie, check out the month of September in the 2012 SCRC Calendar! It's hard to believe, but Rosie is FAR from the cat she was when I brought her home. She plays with two of our other cats (Molly & Achilles), and has indeed become quite the lap cat. She will curl up on my lap for hours on end. She must dream sometimes while curled up because her little legs, tail, and whiskers will twitch. I will try to capture a video of this for my next update. We have made some progress in holding her, but still nothing longer than a minute or two.

8/8: I can't believe that Rosie has been with me for almost 5 months now. She is doing great getting along with the other kitties, especially Achilles. We call them "Mutt and Jeff" because where one is, the other one is sure to be found. She hasn't quite warmed up to Molly yet, and Spice still wants nothing to do with her. Rosie has become somewhat of a lap cat. She jumps up on me whenever I sit down to watch TV, and tries to make biscuits out of my shirt. She also greets me at the door whenever I come home. Rosie still isn't sure about being picked up. I can usually hold her for about 10 seconds before she decides she's had enough. Hopefully with a bit of time and work she'll come to realize that being held is a good thing. Oh, and she has mastered the fine art of begging, thanks to Achilles. He has also taught her some other things I wish he wouldn’t have, like jumping up on tables…

3/22: Rosie had her vet appointment yesterday and all went well! Everyone at the office fell in love with her. Rosie has begun to explore other areas of the house now, and she does so very loudly. Every room she enters that is new to her she meows loudly as if announcing herself. She has met the other three cats. Not quite sure if she is a fan of Molly and Achilles, our tuxedo cats, as she tends to chase after them. She seems to be very curious of our lilac point Spice (aka Spider), however the feeling is not mutual. Spider usually growls at her when she gets to close; but I think she's just being a grouchy 19 year old. Also attempted a claw trimming today...did not go over very well. After many loud, piercing meows and many scratches on my hands and wrists, Rosie has her front claws trimmed. I think I'll give her a few days (and a trip to the pet store to find some gloves/wrist protectors) before we attempt the back claws.

3/15: Rosie has done a 180 from where she was when I brought her home. About 11:45 on the 12th Rosie decided that she wanted to start being social...which meant meowing louder and louder until I woke up and petted her. She did this constantly through the night, preventing me from getting any good sleep. The second night was better, as she had figured out that I was fine with her sleeping between my feet/legs, but she still insisted on waking me up several times throughout the night. Last night I was finally able to get a full, uninterrupted night's sleep, with Rosie sleeping between my legs. She has become very social and affectionate and will wind herself around my legs, meowing for attention. Most of the time she chirps and trills at me, but I think she has discovered her inner meezer and can been heard from across the house. Rosie is doing better around other members of my family, but is still a bit hesitant with new people.

3/12: brought Rosie home today. She was a well behaved girl in the car, much better than I expected. Brought her up to my room and let her out. She very quickly ran out of the carrier right under my bed. Rosie has found several hiding places so far, but her favorite seems to be the far right corner of my room. Two of my other kitties (Molly & Achilles) have been very curious to know what I'm keeping behind my closed door, but they will have to wait to find out. More info to come, as she decides what she wants me to know.

KYO
I'm a sweet little boy, but not the bravest one in the world. I was found as a stray, all alone on the streets, when I was just a 4 month old baby. Animal Control picked be up, and took me to the scary shelter place, but I was lucky enough to find a foster home where I learned to play and not be afraid. I need a quieter home, one with other kitties who will play with me. I do like my toys, and my food, and playmates. I use the litter box like a good boy, too. So now, here I am waiting for the nice home I was promised. Is that your home? Don't you need a pretty red boy? Then ask about me.
Notes from Home
10/9/15 - Kyo went to the vet last month and all checks out well! I thought he was a big cat at 11.3 pounds last year. When the vet tech weighed him this year, I heard her exclaim from the back room, "Oh my goodness he's 19.1 pounds!" I was immediately worried that he was overweight. After further examining Kyo, my vet determined that he is at his ideal weight (whew!) and is not at all fat. Kyo is really just a very large cat. In other news, Kyo and adoptive sister Rosie (VA7539) are getting along great. Earlier they were both playing with the same rattle mouse toy and it was so cute. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it though. As I type this update, they are over sleeping together in one of the MIllie beds. I should say Kyo is sleeping in it and Rosie is sleeping on the edge of it, as there's no room for her in there with him. They shared a bath (he was bathing her and she was enjoying it immensely) and have now settled in for nap number 8 of the day.

8/19/14 - Kyo was recently in at the vet for his yearly appointment and shots. He's a whopping 11.3 pounds of extremely long and extremely lean cat!! He's huge! I'd compare him to a 6.5 ft. gangly teenager!
In July, Kyo and adoptive sister Rosie made the move to the new house and have been getting along very well. He's still a bit shy and timid around her at times, but there are times when he's the one doing the instigating. He is also very shy around new people, but once he knows who you are, look out! He's got a killer headbutt that he throws his whole body behind. He is also the only cat that I've ever had (so far) that is a nibbler. He gets up close to your face and puts his nose against yours. If you don't give him enough attention he'll nibble the end of your nose! He's also been known to nibble fingers, ears, and chins.

11/14/13 - Kyo is settling in very nicely. He is such a love bug! Usually from the time I enter his room to the time I leave he does not stop purring. I'm not sure if he has an off switch! :) All he ever wants to do is rub my face, or lick my ears. Recently, he has taken to walking around on my shoulders. He realizes that there are other kitties outside his room and he seems eager to want to run out to meet them; but he still has to do more time in solitary before he can meet them. We took Kyo to the vet on Tuesday, and everything checked out great! Everyone thought he was a very beautiful boy! And I'd have to say I agree!! He is also very quiet. On the ride from picking him up, and to and from the vet, he didn't make a single peep. Even in his room I've never heard him make any other noise other than purring. I'm sure he'll find his voice eventually. Pictures coming soon!

Also - In case anyone is wondering, Kyo is Japanese for apricot. I got his name from the anime "Fruits Basket" which is about members of a family that represent the twelve Chinese zodiac animals, plus the cat. The character Kyo is, of course, the cat.

Notes from Home
Week 1 for Miss Macey! She's had a busy week this week. Getting settled in her own space. Getting tootsies/ claws trimmed. Meeting Oreo and Calo. Making friends with Calo. Vet visit for a checkup- all clear! And busy trying to make friends with Oreo.

She's made super fast progress assimilating in. She's allowed now to have supervised sessions out and about the house. Right now she's playing with a ball around the living room. Calo, our resident male, loves playing with her. Oreo is still not sure about all this, but yesterday I saw her and Macey touch noses, so progress is being made on that front. Mostly it's been disciplinary bops on the head when Macey gets too cheeky.

Week 2 with Macey. She has gotten to the point where she can spend the day with the other cats.
Calo is her new best buddy. She is always up for playing with him. Oreo is still a challenge. She's interested in Macey, but is having a bit of struggle dealing with the "kitten energy" that Macey has. We've given Oreo a safe space so when she gets too overwhelmed she can retreat so safety. We have also put Feliway through out the house to help keep her calm. When Macey is calm, Oreo is calm. So it's headed in the right direction.

I found Macey to be a bit "bitey". She got my husbands big toe and me in the face but nothing serious. She does respond to "no". So we will keep reinforcing that.

1 month update- Macey is doing great! She is finally making inroads with Oreo and we have caught them playing together! She is still Calo's shadow, but he gets a bit grumpy when Macey wakes him up during his naps wanting to play. The boy needs his beauty sleep!

TUUKKA
Very sensitive personality. Not scared but timid - will need a quiet home environment..
Notes from Home
Khan, who has been renamed to Tuukka (for the Boston Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask), is making strides here with his new family. Having my two grown daughters visiting has helped Tuukka come out of his shell somewhat. We are attentive and he responds by purring; sometimes very loudly. We did find him outside his "comfort" room, and we have seen him wander around the house. He even made it upstairs to see what is up in our bedrooms. He is still shy and we haven't attempted to put him on our lap. He does seem like a docile cat who doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Herb has a great time with him, enticing him with ham or turkey. If we stay still he will meander around, but scurry back to his comfort area is someone walks by. He seems to be more inquisitive at night when we have retired. He has broken a few objects, and today I noted my living room curtain has a pull in it. We are taking our time, and little by little he is adjusting. He makes eye contact more frequently and responds to the sound of his name. One day he will be the most fabulous cat, but we will wait patiently for that to happen.

Our boy, Khan, has been renamed Tuukka, after the Boston Bruins hockey goalie Tuukka Rask from Norway. Pronounced "Too-ka" he has made great strides since coming to our house June 15th. He is still a bit shy and will run off now and then, but he will sit between Herb and me on the sofa. He is always waiting for me outside the bathroom in the morning, knowing he will be fed shortly. He spends his time in whatever room I am in, but he has yet to become a lap cat. Maybe he never will, but just sitting on the same furniture with us is a great improvement. He LOVES to chase his tail, talking all the while. He does talk to me; he reminds me of my favorite Siamese "Petit" whom I always referred to as "my dog in kitty clothing"! I do feel we made the perfect decision in adopting Tuukka. We are contemplating adopting a friend for him, but we know now is not the right time.
We want to thank, once again, everyone who participated in making this adoption possible, from the foster mom to the many transport volunteers who brought this wonderful cat to us.
Happy Holidays to all!
Lois and Herb
Our one year anniversary has us looking back and seeing how far Tuukka has come. He is still shy around strangers and strange voices, but he will venture out after awhile. He is my buddy and is in whatever room I am in. He will sleep at the end corner of the bed, but he knows when it is time to get up and feed him. He still loves to eat; went to the vet and our "big boy" is pushing 18 pounds. Guess we now cut back on his food. He bonded with our daughter Ingrid when she house/cat sat while we vacationed. She started "fishing for kitties" and Tuukka loves to attack whatever is on the end of the fishing pole. He is a beauty and we are blessed that others passed him along so we could provide him with a wonderful home here in MA. I am trying to send a picture, but am not the best with this computer stuff.

10/07/15
Tuukka is a big cat with a small voice. He loves to have his belly rubbed. He will approach you if you are sitting down, but runs away when you get up. He doesn't like plastic bags and will run away from their noise if you try to crumple them. He knows his name, but doesn't come running like our other cats have done.

SAMARA
Just arrived, but I sure am glad to be off the streets. I had a home at one time, but somehow lost it. No one seems to know why, but thankfully the Siamese Cat rescue angels found me. It's nice here, but it isn't home. Maybe you could make room in your home for me?

I'm a good girl with my litter box and eat the food meowmy gives me. I'm a big girl, but not fat. I have a bit of a fever mask right now but meowmy said that will go away now that I'm all over my shelter cold. The vet she took me to said I'm a pretty girl. *blush*

I am not comfortable with other cats, so I'd like to be your main squeeze. My litter box, lap sitting and scratching habits are perfect. I love to make biscuits in my Millie bed and sleep with you at night.

How about asking about me so I have a chance for a great new home!

Purrs,

Samara is doing great! She has adjusted perfectly in the last 7 months. Still isn't a fan of the dog but she isn't scared of him like she was. She lets him know the boundaries and he respects them. No problems, all checkups have been fine. Her fever mask went away and she now has a beautiful brown face I kiss often! She loves to cuddle and sleeps in the bed with me every night.

SAMMY
I am a very bold fellow now and have no trouble approaching you for attention. OF course foster mom says I still need to learn some manners and my mom is trying to teach me. I love to play and wrestle with my brother Reilly and will need a play buddy in my new home. So ask about me if you want a rowdy boy in your house.

Check out my photo gallery and you can see how much I have grown! I was such a little squirt.

Notes from Home
Sammy and Claudia are both doing GREAT! They are such happy, playful and cute kitties. Sammy has grown so very much. He was a little tiny baby when I got him and now he is almost the same size as big sister Claudia. They love to play together and preen each other, especially Claudia, she loves to preen Sammy and sometimes holds him down to do it. Sammy is a real go-getter. He will play with anything in sight! I tried to post pics but once I uploaded them I could not get them to the page. I will keep trying.

Just found out how the upload of the pics works. so I uploaded 2 more really cute ones. I love these two little fur balls....they are my babies!

11/30/2012 Sammy is doing great. He is getting to be such a big boy. I put the Christmas tree up this week and
Claudia and him is all interested in it. No disasters yet! I call him my little "Sammy Monster" because he is so active and curious, always looking for something to get into! He loves to play with Claudia and they can get really rough but then they get tired and are so loving with each other. I am so very happy he is my little Sammy!
4/9/2013 It is hard to believe it has been 6 months! Sammy and Claudia are doing GREAT. They are both so much fun. Sammy is a big boy now. He loves playing with Claudia and being loving with her. He is a mischievous guy and always looking for something to get into, it is all about fun with him. I feel so very blessed to have both Sammy and Claudia, they are great!

10/8/2013 Momma says it is time for an update. I am a very happy little (BIG) guy and have so much fun with my sissy Claudia. I love to eat and play and am always looking for something that looks like fun! Like watching my fish friends! Sammy
Sammy is doing great and I can't believe it has been a year since him and Claudia came home to me. They are both wonderful kitties. On his very first post it said that "my foster mom says I need to learn manners", well he still has a problem with that! He is just so determined to have fun he just goes head first into everything! Claudia has to put him in his place from time to him but he quickly behaves himself then! He is a big health boy and I sure do love him

10/11/2014 Sammy definitely keeps life interesting! He is such a complex boy. From his separation anxiety when I leave the house (sometimes to only go outside) to his being a bit of a bully to being extremely loving to me and sister Claudia, he is a mess! Sammy is very healthy but Dr Cory has warned me he should not gain any more weight. He does love to eat!!! Sammy finds interesting ways of getting in trouble but Claudia tries her best to keep him straightened out. They are very loving to each other. I hope the pictures come through, I had a bit of trouble with Claudia's. He still does not like company much and hates it when my whole family comes over about once a month. I love my Sammy and Claudia. They are very loving kitties!

10/6/2015 "Sammy is just being Sammy", that is what I tell anyone who asks why he acts like he does! He is quite the character to say the least. But he is Mommies lovebug and he is doing great. He still has his issues, especially with the separation anxiety when he cant find me but that is just Sammy! He is very healthy and doing great. He does love to eat and I am watching his weight. Him and Claudia are so sweet with each other but she still has to put him in his place when he decides to be a bully I love both my Sammy and my Claudia!
I almost forgot to tell you Sammy still has the 2 little "security blankies" he came home with 3 years ago. When he is having a bout of separation anxiety he carries them around the house in his mouth meowing a really pathetic meow! Silly boy!
