MALIA
Sweet and gentle, but I do need a little time to get to know you.

I'm now coming right up to foster mama for pets and rubs. I'm not a fan of being picked up
and cuddled YET, but I think I will like it.

I love to play. That mouse on the wire is the BOMB!! I even share nicely with Kai and
younger roomie Scooter.

We all came from a 50 cat hoarder In MD and we are definitely enjoying the smalller
population!

Notes from Home
Kaiyah Malia is now 10 months old! She has become a very affectionate and "nudgy" kitty. She is learning to love laps (ours). She still runs and hides when visitors come, but she does peek at them from a safe place. She has grown into a small lovely cat with a humorous face. She is fixated on specific toys and foods and really doesn't care for change in her routine. She's in the right home - we do our best to encourage her and support her. She is playful and likes her housemate cat. She guards her favorite toy and at the same time, is quick to allow our other cat to play with his toys. She has really added happiness to our home.

DARBY
Oh, goodness, what's a girl to do? I got returned after 10 years - (moving). I came in with my buddy Harley but he's gone to his forever home already. So I'm just hanging around waiting to see who is going to be my rescue angel!

I get along fine with all the residents here at the foster home. I love to get brushed and like to sit close to the humans around here. I'm really not fussy at all.

I'm what you'd call a 'dilute tortie' - I think I'm pretty and so does everybody else who has seen me in person.

If you're a senior (we seem to have lots of those in Florida) and worried about getting a youngster, you might want to check me out. We could spend our golden years together!

Hi Donna (Darby’s Foster mom) and the rest of the Siamese Rescue Family . . .

Thought I give everyone an update on how Darby is doing after 6 months with us . . . she really is quite precious and we love her. However, Rajah, our old man of 18 has yet to accept her completely into the fold. Most of the time they just ignore each other but occasionally there is a hiss or growl from one of them . . . it’s hard to tell from which as they're usually out of sight if not out of earshot. Understandable, as Rajah had us to himself for over a year after one by one, his 3 friends with whom he had lived all his life, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge . . . happily all from old age rather than illness.

As suggested by both Donna and our vet, when Darby first arrived we kept her separated from Rajah for just over a week. Fortunately this was easy to do as our apartment has this crazy layout . . . a pocket door in the bedroom, opens to a long closet/dressing area which leads to the master bath. Closing off the bedroom gave her a fair amount of living space and we were able to set her up in her own space with a tray for her food and water bowls, a scratching post and her litter box. She also had her choice of several kitty beds, two in the long closet and one in the linen closet to which she could/would retreat for privacy when we were in the “dressing" area or bathroom.

For most of Darby's “isolation” period, that was her world but occasionally we would close the bedroom door to the rest of the apartment and leave the pocket door open. That way she could expand her horizons and take in Rajah’s scent in the bedroom as he slept with us at night.

Well, one day when the main bedroom door was open, Darby decided she’d had enough of this isolation and put an end to it by somehow sliding the pocket door open. Imagine our surprise, and Rajah’s, when she suddenly appeared in the living room! Although we put her back in her area after her “great escape”, it was useless to try to confine her any longer as she knew the way and just continued to open the pocket door.

From then on, we could only leave them to their own devices which seems to have worked and they now are coexisting in a reasonable friendly state. Fortunately, Rajah has continued to be my husband’s lap cat as Darby has yet to become a cuddlier . . . although yesterday for the first time she did let Dwight pick her up and hold her for almost 5 minutes . . . a real milestone so there still is hope.

In the meantime, she is most loving in her own way which is to purr loudly and bump our legs for attention demanding we pet her and scratch behind her ears. When ignored, she’ll get our attention with a tiny nip to our bare legs. She’s even begun to let us scratch her back above her tail . . . an area we’d been cautioned to avoid. However, although we were told she loved to be brushed, she shies away whenever we try. The one thing she doesn’t shy away from is food . . . she has a most voracious appetite, never turning down kitty food as you’ll see in the first clip! Although it looks as though she left some food behind, she always goes back a few minutes to lick the bowl clean.

We definitely love our new family member and are grateful to have been able to give her a “furever home”.

Regards,

Angela & Dwight

OTIS
I got sprung yesterday but I'm still pretty confused. My momma was elderly and one day she just didn't wake up anymore. She was gentle and quiet, and I miss her more than meows can say. Noone else wanted me, so they took me to momma's Vet where I've been living in a cage for the past month. Belinda (the office manager) took a special liking to me and made sure to put me in the hands of Belinda (my siamese rescue foster mom) so that everything would be okay. So right now the name 'Belinda' is pretty special to me and I get all bouncy and happy when I hear it. Maybe YOU are a Belinda or a Linda or a Melinda or a....

By the way - I'm Otis. One of the meanings of my name is 'one who hears well'. Well, I'm listening and hope I will hear you coming up the steps to get me real soon. And I don't care what your name is....as long as you know how to say "I love you Otis'.

Otis is one happy kittie. Yes, he has to go to the vet every 6 weeks or so to get a shot for his chronic bronchial condition but that doesn't mean his quality of life isn't what it should be. I travel from time to time and my cat sitter stays over at my place with her two female kitties. They get along very well and I think the younger one is attached to Otis. She follows him everywhere, putting her nose in places that alarm him but he takes it pretty well and they all have fun chasing about.
6/5/15
Both Otis and Tansie are doing well. They became best buddies and while Otis is a lap cat, Tansie tolerates me and ?!
###############################################
Another year has rolled around and both Otis and Tansie are true to form. They will both be getting their yearly shots next week. Both see the vet a couple of times a year and both have a good relationship with the doctor and staff. Tansie never did warm up to her humans but she still loves Otis and is well cared for. We are considering adding a kitten to our family but will have to see if health ( in this case human health) will permit it. Chemo and new kitten is a tricky mix.

5/8/17 So hard to believe this much time has gone by since both Otis and Tansie were adopted. Otis still has asthma and is carrying too much weight due in part to the steroid injections he has to have every 8 weeks or so. Nevertheless, he has a good quality of life as does Tansie. They both went to the vet today and all is well.

BENTLEY
Do you need a drop dead gorgeous boy? Need a lap kitty? Want someone who will get along with other kitties? Want a mellow, outgoing, happy to see you kind of guy? Well, here I am. I love to give head butts and want nothing more then your love - well I do need a lap to lay in too but that comes automatically with your love right?

Notes from Home
So Bentley, formerly Brion, is doing well. We named him Bentley for the bend in his tail and bc he is such an elegant boy like the car. From the first night he was head butting to get kisses and talking to us. He is the sweetest boy. He and one of our resident kitties are talking to each other through the door -too cute. I included a photo of him on his first night playing amongst his new toys. Thank you again for everything.

4/27/2014 - Bentley is doing well. He has been to our vet and gotten a clean bill of health. He is out of his isolation room and out in house free to roam. He is getting along with the other cats with just a little hissing from both sides. 90% of the time there is no hissing. He is enjoying the new environment as we got new carpets and furniture so they all have to make everything their own. I am posting pics of him sleeping on the arm of the old sofa and in his new box (that he loves). He is learning his name and starting to talk with his tail when you call him by that name. Silly kitty:) I will try to post updates more. Thank you again to everyone. He is a fabulous boy.

4/30/14 - yesterday for the first time Benley and his brother started playing. They were chasing each other around and meowing at each other. Too cute. They seemed to be having a lot of fun.

5/5/14 - happy cinco de mayo. Bentley is part if a changing household with new carpets and furniture in his first 3weeks. He is handling it all well and seems to be enjoying the new places to sleep or lounge. He is so loving and purrs all the time. Still playing with his brother (Little little) and the hissing has decreased significantly with him and the girls. I've added some more pictures for your enjoyment. I'll include pics of his new siblings so you can see them also.

6/1/14 - Bentley is making leaps and bounds. Hard to think he's been here only about 6weeks. He was so excited the other morning (at 5am) getting petted that he bit my nose. We must teach him the difference between sleep time and awake time. Anyway, Just a love nip. He came to visit me in the tub today getting on the edge to head butt for kisses. He really is a trip. He is so loving. For the first time last night he actually came to bed with everyone and went to sleep at the corner of my bed. He seems happy and continues to have a good relationship with his brother. They chase each other around like crazy kids. He is such a good boy I can hardly believe anyone would give him up. Lucky us though. He is a fabulous cat.

6/25/14 - Bentley is more and more of the lover boy he was described as. He ran to the door the other day to greet me after work. He still doesn't know darkness outside means sleeping time. He wants love and affection in the middle the night/early morning hours. He is so sweet you can't help but give him a hug no matter how tired you are. He still head butts for kisses and is more comfortable with being picked up. He loves to eat and especially chicken breast as an occasional treat. He has proven to be a good hunter. He nabbed a fly out of the air with one swipe of his paw the other day. He is a delight to come home and see after a long day. He does nothing but make us smile. Love him. I think he is truly happy here and is starting to love us. I hope he understands this is his forever home and his changing locations is over for good.

7/13/14 - Bentley coming out of his shell more and more everyday. We just lost Yala on Tuesday after 16 amazing yrs. so Bentley is going through some adjustments as the others are somewhat out of sorts. He is doing well though. He was going crazy this morning playing with one of his new feather toys. Bentley and his brother continue to chase each other through the house and have a good time. I have added some new pictures of him for everyone to see.

8/24/2014 - So Bentley is hysterical. He is so sweet and loving. He sleeps every night in bed with my daughter, Liz. I adopted him and he adopted her. Its all good b/c he is happy and that's what matters. He and his brother, Little, play constantly. They chase each other through the house chirping at each other. It is wonderful to watch. He has the smallest voice for his size. It is really funny. He talks, purrs, plays and seems to be enjoying himself here. I'll add some new pictures of him also.

9/20/2014 - Bentley comes out of his shell more and more every day. We love him. He is funny. He doesn't like any treats like the others do, but boy does he like chicken. He is fussy about getting his nails clipped and the other day we just had to suck it up and have it done. At the end he got chicken bc he did so well. He is with us more and more all the time. He greets me everyday at the door. My mom said he came down and got on the back of the chair to wait for me to get home from work one day last week. He and his brother continue to entertain us chasing each other around the house. Can't thank all of you enough for getting Bentley here to us. He is a wonderful addition to our family. I've put a new pic of him playing with the laser light.

10/31/2014 - Happy Halloween everyone. Treats all around... Bentley is our most special treat. He sleeps with me every night and has taken to "bathroom visits". What I mean by that is anytime I am in the bathroom he runs into the room, jumps up on the window sill and headbutts for kisses. He talks to the birds on the wires outside and then gets onto your lap for more love. I'd like this affection time to transition to the living room during TV time, but I'll give him love anytime he wants. He is the most loving at night before bed. We get into bed and he kneads and purrs like there is no tomorrow before curling up to go to sleep. My mom and Bentley play laser light almost every day. He is too funny running around like a kitten and playing. He is such a love-bug and so handsome. We just look at him and think what a handsome boy he is. We love him and I think everyday he loves us more and more.

12/16/2014 - Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone. Bentley had turkey for breakfast on Thanksgiving and enjoyed every bite. He is still coming out of his shell all the time. He now sits on my lap in the chair and one of the other cats sleeps against him occasionally. It is cute to see how they are building a bond. I am so thankful we got involved with SCRC and adopted Bentley. He is priceless. My mom feels the same. I went away to see my father and when I came home I think Bentley missed me. It was nice to know he has truly become part of the family. Looking forward to our first Christmas with him. Let you know how it turns out.

1/24/2015 - So Christmas was as much of a present for us as it was for Bentley. He is just fabulous. So much has happened since my last update. Bentley spends most of his time with us. Either lying in the chair with me getting petted or lying on the floor with his head resting on his catnip toy. He and his sister Mia are finally getting along. She was the one struggling the most with him. They are not playing together yet, but there is no fussing or boxing matches with them. I again went away to my dad's and when I came home Mr. Bentley was the first one at the door welcoming me home. He is so sweet. My mom plays with him almost every morning with the laser light. I really question is he 9 years because when he plays he looks like he's 9 months old. He still head butts for kisses and I think that might be my favorite thing about him. He is just the sweetest kitty in the world. I am excited to see what 2015 holds for all of us. Happy New Year to everyone at SCRC. You have helped my mother and I have more happiness in our lives with this beautiful boy named Bentley.

4/21/2015 - Its been awhile since my last update. Bentley's 1yr anniversary was 4/12/15 and we celebrated with a fresh rotisserie chicken. He couldn't have been more excited. Bentley and all the cats are getting along now. He and his sister, CeCe (the 16yo siamese), are always sitting on each other. Bentley and his brother, Little (the 6yo orange tabby), play and run around together constantly. Sometimes I think Bentley is a kitten the way he plays. He loves cardboard boxes. When we order delivery we put the box on the floor for him and he is in it all the time. He also likes my old tennis bag so that is on top of the closet so he can lay in it and look out the window. We think he used to be allowed outside b/c he is always going to the door. He isn't a "door dasher" and backs up when asked, but he is definitely interested like he knows what it is to go out. I have to tell him "sorry that doesn't happen here". He seems very content in his furever home. He still wants lots of kisses and headbutts when he isn't getting enough. He greets me at the door when I come home from work almost every day. He plays with my mom and the laser light all the time. He is being a nudge today to his sister Mia (the 13yo Birman that took the longest to accept him). He keeps following her around and she doesn't want to play. It's funny to watch them. Bentley still doesn't love his nails clipped so we do them only when necessary. He likes to knead on my chest and stomach and sometimes - YIKES:))) He is better with it so maybe he's learning to trust me. He is a fabulous cat and we are lucky to have gotten to have him as a part of our family. He is so well behaved and affectionate I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to keep him forever. We love him and I truly believe he loves us. Thank you SCRC!!!!

8/27/2015 - Bentley is fabulous. It is like he has lived here his whole life. He seems to be very happy. Anytime I sit in the chair he is immediately in my face head butting for kisses and purring. He settles on my chest and just wants to be petted. It is the cutest thing. He is finally letting my clip his nails without a fight or complaint. I'm so proud of him. He is just the best. My mom and I say all the time we wish we had known him when he was a kitten b/c he must have been so adorable. We couldn't be happier and I am confident he couldn't either. We are scheduled at the end of September for his yearly check up. I am sure all will be good, but I will let you know how he makes out.

10/5/2015 - Bentley's yearly exam went great. He was so funny at the vet. He was lounging in the chair in the waiting room between my mom and I. He also let the tech pick him up and carry him back to the exam room. He got his shots and is in excellent health. He is the best and happiest boy. We are so happy to have him.

10/18/2015 - We had our first health scare with Bentley. I noticed he wasn't acting quite right (not coming to see me like usual, staying in his favorite chair all the time, etc). Then he peed in my room Wednesday night. I called the vet and he said come in for labs. He peed in my room again Thursday night, but I knew we were off to the vet Friday afternoon. The whole ride he talked to me and all I could think about was him being dropped at the shelter by his owners less than 2years ago. I was afraid he was thinking that too. At the vet his fever was 103.9 and he had to stay overnight. They wanted to get him fluids and on antibiotics. I felt terrible. I went back to visit him that night. His temp had gone up to 104.9. Vet said he would need IV fluids if it reached 105.5. Bentley was MAD at me. I stayed for a while and finally he let me pet him. The next day I got the best call... the vet said come get him. His fever was gone. Got there as quick as we could and he was still not happy. Got him to the car and after a few minutes he was talking to me again. Once home he was the happiest boy. What a scare he gave us and how happy everyone is he is home. We love him tons. Waiting to hear lab results tomorrow, but for now he is doing really good.

2/10/2016 - Bentley is fabulous. He is happy and healthy and a great addition. He is so loving and sweet. Thank you SCRC.

4/27/2016 - We are getting ready to adopt our second cat from SCRC. Bentley will have a new brother. It is amazing to me that he has been here 2yrs. His adoption anniversary was 4/12/2016. He is so loving and is coming more and more into his own. He talks more now and head butts constantly for kisses. You can tell he is excited to see me when I come home from work everyday. He is so much better with getting his nails cut. I think he finally gets that it is ok and there will be a treat following his manicure:) We love him and look forward to making his new brother part of our home as well.

12/15/2016 - Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year to everyone from Bentley and the Staibs. Bentley is doing well. He is still a huge love and very happy boy. He told me to tell everyone thank you for finding him his forever home. He is the most handsome boy. Anyone who sees his picture Raves about how gorgeous he is. We love him so much and are so happy his misfortune turned out to be our fortune. He is shockingly now not leaving me to go visit the men (friends, cable guy, exterminator, etc) that come visit the house sporadically. The exterminator, Joe, is starting to comment. I think he's offended:) He's a cat guy also. Bentley, Derby and Little chase each other through the house like crazy nuts. It is the cutest thing to watch. He is like a kitten playing when he does that. Bentley hopes all is well with his SCRC family. I'll add a new picture shortly.

5/8/2017 - So it has been 3 years since we adopted Bentley. Crazy how fast time flies. He is so happy with his forever home. We are so happy he is part of our family. He is still the sweetest boy ever. He plays with his brothers and they love to take turns chasing each other. He is always visiting me in the bathroom, sleeping on the back of my chair or laying in his favorite cardboard box. He is so silly. I still can't believe how big he is and how graceful he is at the same time. he is the biggest cat we have and the lightest on his feet. the smallest ones in the house sound like elephants. We love our Bentley and couldn't be happier he calls us his people.

DERBY
I had my own home for 16 years and then my mom had to go to a nursing home and couldn't take me with her. I'm calm and laid back, and after meowmy takes me for my blood work I'll move to adopt me. She said once we know what kind of shape I'm in, she'll be able to tell you all more.

Meowmy said I look fantastic for an older gentleman, so maybe I'm as healthy on the inside as I look on the outside, and will have many years left.

Update: the good news is that I'm not in Renal failure and my thryoid is good. The bad news is that my white count is up, indicating I have an infection somewhere. I'm on meds right now and after they are finished, the doc will check it again. Hopefully it's coming from my bad teeth and is fixable.

Update: Just an infection that was cleared up with antibiotics. Had my dental and am looking and feeling like a young fella again!

Purrs,

Paco

Notes from Home
5/7/2016 - Paco and his people are home safe and sound. He is a fabulous boy. He ate as soon as we got him settled in his room. He is rubbing and purring like crazy. He's also a talker. Thank you everyone at SCRC for the work you do. Siri it was awesome to meet you and see the center today. I'll post again soon.

12/15/2016 - Sorry I have not posted in a long time. Got into a major auto accident in June and 2weeks ago in hospital with DVT & PEs. It's been a trying year since adopting Paco. Enough about me... I know you are more interested in Paco. First news is Paco's new name is Derby, since we adopted him on Derby day. He has adjusted really well to being in our home. He loves his brothers and they play all the time. Derby, Bentley and Little chase each other through the house like crazy nuts. It is the cutest thing to watch. He is like a kitten playing when he does that. Our vet thinks he is more around 11yo than 16yo based on looking at his eyes. I don't care. He is awesome. One of his favorite spots is at the foot of my bed or on the back of the couch by the heat. Derby enjoyed Thanksgiving, especially since he got chicken breast for breakfast. He is loving and purrs all the time. He is a wonderful addition to our family. Thank you from the Staibs to everyone at SCRC for helping us find Derby. We love him and he loves us. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year to everyone from Derby and the Staibs. Derby hopes all is well with his SCRC family. I will post pictures of him shortly.

5/8/2017 - Well It is Derby's one year anniversary with us. I can't believe it has been so short a time he has been with us. It feels like he has been ours forever. He is awesome. He has found where he likes to sleep and is downstairs on the back of the sofa when we are downstairs. He is in my room or on my bed all night or during the day. He purrs constantly and loves attention. When you pick him up and hold him he doesn't fight you, but is quite talkative. He loves his brothers. They chase each other around the house playing. We are all going to the vet for the yearly check up 5/16/2017. He is so cute and makes us smile every day. He seems very happy and content in our family. He really likes his catnip toys and is always willing to help me when I am working on a project around the house. There was a point after getting him that he decided my bed was the litter box for urine only. We had testing done and nothing was wrong medically. So it was behavioral. It was only my bed. Lucky me. He is now taking a very low dose of Prozac and doing very well. He takes his medicine in a pill pocket and loves it like a treat. He is doing very well overall and we love him to pieces.

Well I am back. I had a terrific home, loved all the kids, but the littlest one was so allergic to me he kept getting very sick. So with heavy hearts I was brought back to rescue. I'm still as sweet as I was when I was here before.

So if you are looking for a gentle, pretty companion to be your only furkid, then I'm the one for you. Foster Meown says I am a super house guest. Please ask about me so I can settle into a home once again, and hopefully this time forever. I come with all my stuff... bed, food dishes, my carrier, and even some toys!

Purringly yours,
Miss Kitty

We happily celebrated Maisy's 10th birthday. She's such a sweet cat and becomes more snuggly and loving with each day. Every night, she waits for me to get into bed and then hops up to lay in my arm until we fall asleep. It makes having every piece of my clothing covered in cat hair completely worth it. I'm forever grateful that you helped bring us together!

MAILI
I've been here a while and had an adoption pending, which fell through, through no fault of my own.. I've had a rough time of it, but have healed up nicely and ready to go. In the time I've been here I bonded to Milton, so we're paired up to go home together. I'm loving, but on the shy side and need him to help me be brave. He is loving and friendly once he's comfortable with someone.

Ask about us and maybe we can be your new furkids!

Notes from Home
So excited. MaiLi finally got in my lap last night! She has really started to come out of her shell. She even went so far as to run big brother Loki off his food dish. He tolerates them doing pretty much anything. They sound like herds of wild animals running around.

MaiLi has turned into the most amazing cat! She is the smartest I've ever seen. She plays catch with the ropes she got in her adoption bag. She runs to the door to great any of her humans when they come home and loves to be scratched all over. She plays with both brothers and is absolutely the queen of this house. I don't know how I ever lived without multiple cats, they are the loves of my life.

Zane is doing great. He is an excellent cat. He loves to play and always makes us laugh. He is such a laid back cat and is so sweet with everyone, all the time.

I can't believe we've had Zane for 3 years. He is the first boy cat I ever had and he is perfect. So good and sweet and loves to play. He wakes us up in the morning with his constant talking. It is the cutest thing and I love hearing his voice. When my husband works nights, Zane lays right beside me, protecting me and never leaving me alone. Zane loves his friend Shyla and both siamese snowshoes lay next to each other or with me. Love my Zane and so thankful I found him and adopted him from Siamese Rescue

SIMEE
Oh, boy, foster mom says with this picture you're never going to believe that I need socialization and that I have a very strong instinct to hide! Can I help it if it felt good to be petted? I'm pretty good at mugging for the camera as long as foster mom sits perfectly still. Once she moves, I get all nervous and have to find a safe spot to hide. What's there to hide about, you say? Well, at the car dealership where I was born last October, my kitty mom taught me that there is plenty to be wary of. I've been living outside all of my young life and surviving was the name of the game.

But now I'm finding a warm spot to lay and food to eat anytime I want. And foster mom's hands sure do feel good after I decide not to be afraid. She thinks I'll be just fine with other cats and a calm household. I'm not sure about dogs yet. She'll let you know on that one. I'm going to take a lot of patience, understanding and firm but kind hands to learn that things inside with humans are OK. Do you have lots of time and patience to help a young, handsome guy learn what life's all about?

Love, Simee

Notes from Home
Wow, Hard to believe it has been 9 yrs already. Simee and Bandito (Our two recue boys) are still best pals and absolute love bugs.
Simee is still a little shy. It's just an inherent part of his personality but using a whole lot of patients and loving kindness has really brought him out of his shell. He has a very close relationship with me but also loves our other family members as well. (He does still hide from them sometimes but usually not with me) We give him the space he needs to feel comfortable.
On a sad note....Last August our 20 yr old female tabby rescue named Gabby died. Both of the boys showed visable signs of sadness and depression over her loss. It's never easy to lose one of your fur-babies.
One of the coolest new developments for Simee has been him learning to do some tricks on demand for treats like Bandito. He now gives paw for treats and stands up tall with his paws on my leg to be picked up. Now if I can teach him the complicated roll over trick that I taught Bandito we will really have our Siamese circus act...lol.
Simee is doing very well on his special food for his urinary tract issue. Over all both boys are very happy, playful, and healthy.....knock wood.
All the best to our friends at the VA Siamese Cat Rescue,
Kim Dulak and Family
Simee and Bandito too....

This cat will not tolerate any other cats in the home. A dog may still be a possibility though.Must be Only Cat
SUSU
Mature female Siamese cat looking for a mature human male or female to bond with for the rest of their lives. The human must swear off all other cats as I am looking for a serious person who will be satisfied with one feline relationship. The human considered must understand that I get jealous and need to be spoiled. There can be no one night stands since I have been disappointed before by humans who have left me (death was not a good excuse). Good health is required since the successful human will not have my permission to get sick. The Benefits are; meaningful conversations when you come home from work, company on the sofa while you are watching tv, and sleeping with me at night.

Notes from Home
Susu is adjusting very nicely. She seems to like all members of our family -- not always the case with Siamese cats! She has been playing musical beds lately, deciding, I think, on what she likes best. First the new Millie bed in our room, then in bed with us, and lately the MIllie bed in the studio. She's also much more agile than we expected of a 14+ year old cat. She can jump up on high beds and onto a hip-high shelf in Paw's amoire. Susu shows us her inner kitten, too, playing with my yarn or threads when I am knitting or stitching. She loves to be next to one of us and will cram herself into a small bit of a seat if that is all that's left. It looks uncomfotable to me, but her motor starts running almost immediately, so she's clearly happy!
She has just come in to supervise this update and reminded me to say hello to everyone, especially Foster Meowmy and Pops and their Toby.

Current Status (7 November 2016): Susu has had an eventful two years with us and proudly bears the designation B.C.E.: Best Cat Ever. In June of 2015, she underwent gall bladder surgery to remove a pair of stones. The operation was only partially successful: one stone was removed before the surgeon felt Susu needed to come out from under anesthesia. She had also had a stroke previous to the surgery, but no one recognized that until after her recovery was so slow that the internist took a closer look. After more than a year of recovery, including steroids to prompt appetite and support her liver, Susu is now completely off medicine, has a gorgeous winter coat going on, and is every bit as healthy and active as a 16 1/2 year old ought to be. She snuggles with all of us, loves to be in the same room with whomever is home, and is insistent upon a strict meal schedule. She does NOT like car rides, but after so many trips to the vet and a lengthy stay in the hospital, who can blame her?

May 3, 2017 Susu left us some time during the night. After returning from a wonderful week at the beach, where she ate like a champ (the sea air, you know!), she began to decline, refusing food, sleeping more, and becoming gradually less mobile until she was unable to support herself on her back legs. We had two visits with the vet last week to make sure all was as good as could be and that Susu was comfortable. She continued to interact with us up to the end, even purring as we petted her. Syringe feedings were not her favorite, but she accepted them with good grace, as she did the subcu fluids we gave her. Her last day was filled with cuddles and a visit from Long Tail Girl (Susu's human sister) and supervising Meowmy in the kitchen from her Millie Bed on the counter. 2 1/2 years with the Best Cat Ever is not enough, but we are grateful for the time we had, especially the almost 2 years post-surgery.
