QUEEN VICTORIA
"My lords and ladies, how good of you to invite me here into your splendid home. I am most honored to meet you. Pardon me if I dont hear you so well, I am rather deaf but I maintain my regal bearing."

Her Royal Majesty was found by a Good Samaritan as a neighborhood stray, and only upon examination was she found to be front declawed and spayed already, so she belonged to someone at some point. We're not sure if she was abandoned due to her deafness or just by chance.

She is a splendid cat who is very social, very affectionate, and can be very demanding of her food and her love! She does not bite, but does use her teeth to gently communicate in the absence of her hearing. Because of this, she would be good for just about any family except those with small children.

Notes from Home
All is going well with Queen Victoria. We decided to keep her name as such. Every day is progression. She is still skiddish over the other cat and stares at Lucy my cavalier king charles. But we have gone from hiding upstairs in the bed room , to making an appearance on the chairs. Not yet at the point of sitting on my lap or cuddling, but I am hoping with time this will be. Has quite the mouth when she is hungry. Its So funny to hear that Siamese meeeeow! Sounds like a chld crying. awwwe. She is loving toward my hubby too which is very nice. Doing well on her diet. Giving her organic low fat Blue indoor cat dry and she is very happy with that.
Im sooooo happy to have her in our home. I dont have any issues. She has discovered my old daughters room and likes to bake herself in the southern sun on the bed. I keep forgetting she is deaf, but you would never know the way she responds to you. Anyway all is going well, again I cannot thank all who were involved with the transport, all the paper work, my foster Jamie, the wonderful gift bag, all the educational literature. Thanks again to all at the siamese rescue center in VA for putting up with all my last minute calls. ps I am getting my license plate changed to MadyMeow. well here we are one month later. Things are progressing very very slow. Queen Victoria continues to come out to eat, go to litter box , then go back under the dining room table. I dont know if I am doing everything, being as she is deaf she cannot hear my voice. At this point she does not like to be petted. Vet visit went fine. No issues there. If you have any advice please send me some. She does like the dog very much, still working on Peter. But there have been no fights or squables,
march 15th:Thanks to Jamie for reassuring me. We had a long talk and I have new ideas to try.
Queen Vic did enjoy being brushed out today and did eat out of my hand as recommended!!!
I will be sending more updates as I progress. Thanks everyone. Mady Meow

latest update:Queen has been officially moved in with my daughter Kimberly and her main coon Peter>
Things are going so well its shocking... We thought Queen vic would have trouble adjusting to her new home, but it was the alpha male who is struggling..Queen has blossomed to a bright and curious cat. NO more hiding under beds and chairs. She RULES the roost.. She actually lets me pet her now that I come to visit weekly to check up and deliver extra food, litter to help my daughter. I truly believe Kimberly reminded Queenie of someone good from her past, so hence the bonding...

DUSTY (FKA SPATZ)
"This is the song that never ends, cause it goes on and on my friends. Some people started singing it not knowing what it was....."

okay now that I have that stuck in your head you will think of me every time it rears its little tune in your brain. My evil plot it does work.

I've gone through a couple of name changes in the past few days and Foster Mary said everytime she looks at me the name "Dusty" pops in her brain (sort of like the song). So today I am Dusty and probably will remain so throughout my stay.

I'm an easy laid back kinda guy who enjoys warm afternoon laying in the sun, good catnip with good friends, toys of my own, people who can appreciate my gentle nature. Is that you?

"and they'll continue singing it forever just because....."

Hi there! I would just like to first thank you all for helping me get thru the process of adopting Dusty. He is the sweetest, cutest, most well-mannered loveable cat and we love him dearly all ready. Lately, he has taken it upon himself to be our own personal alarm clock, way before our real alarm clock will go off by getting up from sleeping in between myself and my husband standing on top of us purring and just meowing softly; if this does not work he moves on to walking back and forth on us until one of us gives in to his gentle awakening and feeds him! He loves to play with his catnip toy, springs, his wands, and his most favorite toy of all is the laser light, he goes crazy for it and starts purring the minute he hears it jingle! He always welcomes us when we come home from work with a meow, head butt and purr and does give us some cuddle time no matter how ready he is to play, eat, etc. He definitely owns us and definitely seems like one happy cat, so glad to have found him, thank you all again! Enjoy the pictures below. I also affectionately call him Cuddlebutt Purrface for short :)

CICA MICA
My kittens are weaned and I am a liberated female. I am one sweet cat and love all the pets and attention I have earned. Now lets get down to the subject. That being my new forever home. I am going to be ready for that in about ten days. Now what do I have to do to get your attention. Foster mom promised me a new photo shoot. Give us a couple of days because I had my surgery today and I am not exhibiting my best looks. Hit that click on me button so we can get this show on the road. Thank you, Shinju

Notes from Home
Cica-Mica (pronounced "Tzeetza Meetza") aka "Shinju" is doing GREAT. At first she was very skittish and nervous, but we knew she'd gone through a lot in traveling as far as she did, in changing houses, and in saying goodbye to her kittens. Even through her nervousness, she never showed a mean bone in her body and of course she eventually came around. She is still a little jumpy at times, but she's made our house her home. She LOVES to play. She's the perfect cat for our household as she will sometimes cuddle with our Little Bug and she'll play and play and play with our Johann Sebastian. This "middle ground" keeps Johann from bothering Bug, who gets intimidated by Johann's play, and provides Bug with a cuddle companion, which he lost when Lavender and then just recently Wimples passed on. I can foresee that come winter and the colder months, those too will be tucked up tight together. She loves to try to catch feet under the covers at night when we sleep, then when she realizes we're all dozing off, she'll climb up on my back and fall fast asleep. Between her on top of my back and Little Bug tucked deep under the covers, it gets pretty warm at night! She is also a voracious eater. She eats like she still has kittens to feed! We used to feed twice a day but now we feed three times a day or she'd never leave us alone, ha ha! Her coat has turned absolutely magnificent, soft as a rabbit's fur and thick and luxurious. What a wonderful addition to our household...thank you Jane and everyone involved with transport, intake, vet trips, etc. We have a little fuzzy blessing in our house :-)

We are absolutely LOVING having Baxter in our family! He is an energetic little guy who is full of love.

August 9,2012- Its been a fabulous nine months as baxter has grown in to a permanent- hard to live without- part of our family. He adores spending the mornings 'squirrel hunting from inside our screened porch with his two sister cats, Suri and Ava. A favorite past-time is playing inside ANY paper bag and helping to make the bed each day by ensuring the sheets are completely kitten flat...and oh boy a speacial treat to help fold laundry!!

He loves to greet his puppy "Mic' anytime he comes in with Dad from his walks, and enjoys meal times on the breakfast bar.

Baxter is a complete love and quite the active kitty boy! At times he puts out the girls with his attempts at wanting " back -rides " fromt hem; but he is learning to ask first to see if they want to play with kitty flair or jst rela in the sun on the breezeway...

At night he loves to watch the moths fly in to the light and will even catch a fire fly if it happens to be crazy enough to fly in the house through an open door.

Baxter has a real love of jumping and shows off his Olympic flair at 'fly catch and release". Thats a game I am certain HE enjoys more than the fly!

We are totally loving him and so happy he is a part of our family.

Masha, Joseph, Bruce, Ava, Mic and Suri

We have renamed Charm "Pearl" (Twirly Pearly Caramel Parfait, Pearl for short). She seems really happy here except that her fellow cats are still a bit grumpy and impatient with her (and me!)... she can be a bit of a bully which they are not used to and we are working on biting (or rather NOT biting!) She is very sweet and playful and cuddly when she chooses to be. My house if absolutely littered with every cat toy to be found! She's very amusing and has a great personality!

8/8/2010: Pearl is sweet and lovely and nice and we love her very much! She had a good check up despite the need to lose a bit of weight (like many of us!) and continues to hunt bugs, lounge with her pals and play like a mad woman!

8/8/12: Pearl is a cuddly, sweet cat who is full of energy! We have nightly games with laser pointers, elastic toy on a stick and more. She is still the household cat bully (picks on my little chocolate point) but they seem to have gotten used to her.

NEEKO
I just arrived at foster meowms sooooo she doesn't know alot about me yet.......

What I can tell you is that I was once someones beloved pet as I am neutered (whatever that means) and 2 paw declawed. I was found by very nice people on the streets....... they took me in and called Siamese Rescue.

I am a bit shy and scared because of all the changes in my life lately. :( So until I know that I can trust and feel good again I am hiding under the bed. Meowm says I am coming around as today I didn't growl at her just a small squeak.

I am looking for my furever home where they will love me furever and let me come out on my terms (Once I feel secure) and where they won't throw me away. I am a very loving boy according to the goodsams that took me in and cared for me till a space opened up at Siamse Rescue.

I have a healthy appetite and use the litterbox like a gentleman.

If you are looking for a young man, and to heal my heart look no further. Click on ask about me and meowm will tell you all she knows............

Neeko

1/6/12 Update: As you can see by my new pic I came out from under the bed. I even met the big flame boy that lives here and I was a good boy. No agression at all. I still go under the bed if something scares me but I was out whn meowm came up with my dinner and didn't even run......

Notes from Home
Neeko has been a very eater. He enjoys his treats too. He’s using the litter box and I’m keeping up with keeping it clean for him.

He’s been exploring the second floor and even got brave enough to go down to the first floor to look around. He’s not staying there long and comes back to his room for security. We leave the door cracked a little so he can make the decision of whether or not he wants to explore. Strange sounds in the house still frighten him – it’s a big place for such a little guy.

He plays a little with me during the day and likes to wash himself in his bed while watching tv.

Neeko celebrated his 2 week anniversary Sunday with more progress in making his home a permanent one. He continues to eat well although he prefers to eat upstairs in his own room. His still naps in his bed upstairs in the first room that he came to. Hasn’t given up rights to it yet. He is sleeping downstairs in the master bedroom at night and is mindful not to wake anybody – until 6 a.m. and if we’re not up by 7, he starts pawing our faces and sitting on top of us.

He loves play time on the stairs – catching his mouse on a string – his favorite. He enjoys evenings by the fire as you will see in the photos that I am posting.

Neeko has not had any pills yet for his over-grooming. We still try different methods (short of putting it in his mouth) which we are reluctant to do because of his anxiety. He still jumps at new and strange noises which may be one of his lasting traits. He doesn’t like the vacuum cleaner noise and I always put him in another room when I need to tidy his space.

A friend, Diane, who is a foster in the Amherst area, will come soon to show us how to trim his back nails.

Neeko has been coming down to the basement level where my studio is located for the past few days. He is still sniffing his way around and does not stay with me yet while I work. I think it will take time before he’s comfortable with the new environment. He has a space on my desk with a heating pad all ready for him.

He’s received guests in his room and loves to meet people. He will get up out of his bed and allow people to pet him. Last Saturday, he even joined the party down in the living room. I think he will be a party kind of guy! So, we’re pleased with his progress in two weeks and know that within another period of weeks he’ll make more strides in his new home.

3/26/12- Neeko now loves coming out on the porch with us. Caught his first fly and ant!!!!!!!!
Since the heat wave we’ve put in a few screens and he loves the smells of the outside air.
He also loves playing under the covers on the beds and will find a way to get under them when we’re not around. He sleeps with us most every night – changing positions – sometimes sleeping on one of our heads or stomachs. He’s ready for the day between 5:30 and 6 a.m. and will tread up and down the bed until one of us gets up to give him attention.
He’s very sociable with company and is friendly with everyone. He’s also very polite and doesn’t beg for people food.

6 Month Anniversary (8/7/12) - Neeko certainly has US trained well. He has established himself as a full-fledged member of the family. He continues to enjoy the heat and humidity on the porch but would prefer that one of us join him while he is out there. He has moved his wake up time to 4:30 a.m. This is not good for us but we usually get up and let him out on the porch for an hour or so and that seems to make him happy. By the time we are up, he is ready for play time and treats.
We've had several family members visiting this summer. We had to move Neeko's things out of his room. He puts up with it, but stays in the master bedroom in his bed most of the day, keeping a watchful eye out on everyone in the living room. He does come out to socialize but keeps his distance. He's happy to claim his territory back when guests leave.
He knows when it's time to go to bed and will come when called. Sometimes he sleeps in his own bed but usually goes between his bed and our bed - preferring to sleep near our heads.

SUUKYI
Tossed outside to fend for myself, I nearly starved to death. A kind lady found me and got me to her vet, and took care of me and gave me food and medicine to help me get better. Now I am in rescue and feeling better , had some medical issues going on. But I am ready for my own home now ! One that provides plenty of lap time and undivided attention to me !

Notes from Home
6/23/12: Today is the one week anniversary of Suki (now Suu Kyi) and Eli coming to join me in their furever home. Both cats are about as perfect as I could ever have hoped! I'm totally in love. I'll keep this section about Suu Kyi, and write about Eli in his own section. Suu Kyi was a little shy at first, and ran under the bed when I first brought her home. But I knew she craves attention, so I laid down on the floor and talked to her, holding my hand out to her. In just a few minutes, she was out to get petted and soon she was curled up on my lap on the bed. Within a few days, she has lost all her timidness and is immediately friendly and affectionate to friends who come by to see her (boy do my friends adore her!). In addition to being wonderfully affectionate, she is also very playful. In fact, we need to play with her a bit in the evening to wear her out, so she doesn't wake us up playing at night. So, this past week has been filled with lots and lots of purring, cuddling, and playing. What more could you want?

All this is quite extraordinary for a cat who was found just a few months ago starving to death in a field. I can imagine I feel from her a deep gratitude to be in a safe home with food, love, and protection. It's cute that, when I reward her for doing something good an give her a treat, her first response is to ignore the treat and just want to rub her head against my hand. When I put the treat in her bowl, she'll run to get it only after she gets lots of rubs. Even more than treats, she clearly just wants love and attention. What a doll.

For the first week, Suu Kyi has been isolated in a bedroom. Since she has been adapting so well, today I let her out of her bedroom for a few minutes to begin to explore the rest of the house. She cautiously explored the hallway and the bathroom, and after several minutes, seemed to be done and walked back into her bedroom. All this time I've been feeling a little guilty that I'm "trapping" her in her bedroom, but it seems that really this room is a safe place for her, and she's just curious to know what else is out there. I will gradually let her explore more of the house, a little bit at a time, for the next week so that she'll be ready to be fully integrated into the house. Of course, before that happens, I'll need to re-introduce her to Eli, and we'll see how that goes. I know she can hear him in the other room, and I know they smell each others' scent on us. Also, I recently had to switch their bedrooms, so know they are living in bedrooms that are filled with each other's scent. So I hope the re-introduction will go smoothly (they were introduced briefly at Suu Kyi's foster mother's house, and it went fairly smoothly, although Suu Kyi did growl at Eli a few times). So I will be very careful when I reintroduce them (my SRC interviewer Peggy has been great about giving me advice on how to do this right).

8/5/12: We've just passed the 7 week anniversary of Suu Kyi (fka Suki) and Eli coming home. I introduced them two weeks after they came to live with me. Eli was a bit too forward for Suu Kyi, she needed more time to figure him out. It was a little stressful at first, but eventually she realized that he was a good friend and would happily give her the constant attention she craves. Now they are very close friends, and she loves playing with him, grooming him, and being groomed by him. Wherever they are in the house, they are usually together.

She is a little doll and has blossomed so much since she came here. She is an avid talker, particularly if she finds herself alone for too long, she emits a series of melodic trills and mews to get attention (and she sometimes talks in her sleep!). In her first week, I would play with her, having her chase toys around. She loved playing, but was easily winded (she was still recovering from a difficult past). Now she and Eli chase each other all over the house and up and down two flights of stairs. She is so strong, healthy, and energetic! When not sleeping or eating, she has two modes: "play with me, play with me!" and "cuddle me, cuddle me!". However, when I'm very busy, she just sits next to me and purrs, as though she's happy enough just to be home with a family. And Eli now helps to satisfy her playing and cuddling needs.

We're at seven weeks, and I feel like both cats are fully and completely adjusted. I expected much more transition time for each of them but the SRC talked me through the process of introducing them to the family, the house, and to each other, and it has all gone perfectly. Thank you SRC!

Notes from Home
6/23/12: Today is the one week anniversary of Eli and Suki (now Suu Kyi) coming to join me in their furever home. Both cats are about as perfect as I could ever have hoped! I'm totally in love. I had gotten the impression from Eli's behavior at his foster mom's house that he was a timid boy. Well, for the first 5 days here, I wondered if I had gotten the wrong cat. From almost the first minute, Eli was outgoing and comfortable. He is so affectionate and he constantly looks you in the eye to be sure you are totally focused on him. The first night, he curled up in my arms like a teddy bear, purring against my chest and lulling me to sleep. He greets everyone (even strangers) with affection and purrs and wins everyone's hearts immediately. He is also very playful; he loves interactive games (chasing feathers on sticks and such), but he is also content to play with his little mouse toys for what seems like hours. When I'm downstairs, I can hear him running back and forth across the bedroom playing.
We did have a “scare” a couple days ago, when his personality suddenly changed from being outgoing to being very timid and frightened; he spent most of the day hiding in the closet. We eventually figured out that he's afraid of our ceiling fan! It's been too hot to keep it turned off, so we moved him into the bedroom with the A/C unit, and he's been fine ever since. Suu Kyi (out other newly adopted cat) doesn't mind the ceiling fan, so the switch worked for both of them. Now I know that when Eli is completely comfortable, he is an outgoing cat, but I also know to be on the lookout for things that upset him (I hope we don't find too many more).
He did wonderfully at the vet visit yesterday, and got a clean bill of health. Since he's been on such good behavior this week, I let him out of his bedroom to explore a little bit of the rest of the house today. It was so sweet that he kept looking up to me before venturing too far, making me feel like he trusts me as his protector. So together we walked around to explore the hallway and the bathroom (downstairs will be an adventure for a few days from now). He was very interested in the bedroom where Suu Kyi, lives. He meowed at her outside the room, and after hearing her meows inside the room, he tried to open the door. It seems like a friendly interaction, not aggressive, like he was saying “Yay! There you are! I've heard you all week, let's hang out together!” I hope it really will be so good when I re-introduce them in a week.

8/5/12: We are just past the 7-week anniversary of Eli coming home (with Suu Kyi). Things couldn't be better. When I first introduced him to Suu Kyi (after their 2-week isolation period), it was clear that she was the apple of his eye. However, she rejected him immediately, running away and sometimes hissing. He was heartbroken. But Eli is a charmer, and I could see that he was planning how to win her over. After a bit of patience and persistence, he did win her over! Now they are best friends. They play constantly, chasing each other around the house, and wresting and tumbling all over. And just a week ago, they started grooming each other; it's so cute to watch, and they do it a couple times a day now. They spend most of their time together, and when it's cool (which is rare this summer), they are snuggled up next to each other.

Quite honestly, I would not have adopted Eli had the SRC foster network not strongly encouraged me to. I was originally looking for two kittens, because I wanted 1) two cats who would grow up together and get along well, 2) cats who would be young enough to learn the rules of the house and be well-behaved, 3) cats who would be young enough to bond to me, and 4) cats who would play like kittens. Eli is likely between 4-5 years old (and Suu Kyi is probably just over one year) and they both fit all these criteria. Affectionate, bonded to me and to each other, well-behaved, and very playful. I am so thankful to the SRC for helping me find the perfect cats for my family.

SAFFY
Anyone out there speak Meezer? Female, Sealpointed, intense Meezer to be exact? I'm a very needy, demando super loving puss that wants to be held and snuggled and loved at all times. I am a bit on the high strung eccentric side and need a quiet calm experienced Meowm and or Paw to look after me. LMK if you're up for the challenge!

Notes from Home
Look at my beautiful self! It's my six month anniversary and after a rough start (my nose was always runny and I didn't like throw rugs around my litter boxes -- as evidenced by the 'gifts' I would leave for my new dad) but I'm right as rain now! I love sleeping wiht my mom and cuddling with my dad on the couch watching the Olympics and even though I still like to rip out my fur when I get nervous, my coat is all shiny (if patchy). Thank you Siamese Rescue, this is definitely going to be my furever home!!
