I am just a wee, tiny Meezerette! I will always be a petite girl but I do need to fatten up a bit. Let me assure you, I am as sweet as they come!

Notes from Home
I brought her home yesterday afternoon (4/28/2013) and got her set up. I guess about 1:45 - 2ish. Naturally she is scared and has made a spot under the entertainment center. I got her out for a bit about 7PM. Just long enough to hold her and for Kathy and Kyle to pet her. She took a few bites of food then went back under the entertainment center. I am able to lie on the floor and reach under an pet her. At first I was not getting a purr but later on in the evening after talking to her and petting her I was getting a good purr. This morning when I came down she had eaten all of her food and used her litterbox. I could not tell if she drank any water. I don’t think she sleep in her bed. She was back under the entertainment center and she actually came out after a good petting. I was getting a good strong loud purr. I got her to come out by giving her a few treats. I loved on her then as I was leaving I believe she was starting to head back under the entertainment center to her spot. I hope she will explore the basement a bit today and just get more at ease with her new digs. It will only take time.

4-29-2013 WOW What a difference a day makes. She came out and sat on the couch with Kyle and I when we were watching Hemlock Grove. She fell asleep on my lap and moved between us and slept there for a bit. She is soooooooo loving. She is getting much more comfortable and interactive with us. She is eating treats from our fingers and loves them!! She is eating her nornal meals twice a day now. Once in the morning and again in the evening with "wet" food. And she cleans her plate which I enjoy seeing. I am starting to get concerned about her water intake. I dont think she is taking in a lot of water but she gets fluid from the wet food. She does pee everyday so that is good. I believe she slept on the couch last night. I'm sure the couch is a far greater choice than under the entertainment center.

4-30-2013 Well we have a TV buddy. She lays on my leg, lap or on the couch while we are watching TV. She loves to be touched and made over. She uses her scratching pad and has made no attempt to use the couch or lazy boy as a scratching post. Eating well and going to the litter box without incident. She has a vet appointment on 8-May with Dr. Katie Larson. Who will be her regular doctor. She is very vocal in the morning when I am fixing her food and changing her litter. She has recently discovered the Lazy boy and lays there but I believe she sleeps on the couch. She enjoys a good brushing and leans into it. She is grooming herself also.

5-6-2013 It has been a great week with her. Only one out of litterbox accident. It was pretty much a liquid so I figure something did not go well with her delicate stomach. We are trying different types of food to see what she likes. We are also trying to convert her over to dry food. She goes to the doctor on wednesday and I am going to seek her advice. With her delicate stomach she may need a special diet. Her stomach will growl like a persons does sometimes. I can tell it kinda scares her. She sleep with me for hours on end Sunday. End enjoyed each other very much. I introduced her to our 100 pound Golden Reteriver "Chewy" on Sunday also. She paid him no mind at all. They even touched noses. She didnt back down but she did not get defensive either. She just went about her way and could care less about Chewy. All in all a good week with her. Soon I will slowly bring her up and introduce her to the rest of the house. She is even starting to venture up the stairs a bit.

5-8-2013 It breaks my heart that someone would simply disguard such a precious soul. She is such a lover. If she were human I would call her high maintaince because she wants your attention. I have no problem with that. Today we go to the vet for her check up. I am concerned about her food. I want her to have a better diet than Fancy Feast chicken/turkey with cheese. I believe she has a delicate stomach due to her accident last week. I have not given her whitefish since then. She ventures up the stairs to the very top step but will not cross the "line" to come into the kitchen. Even with all the coaxing and begging she will not come into the room. But she is very vocal about letting you know she is there. I figure I will have to pick her up, hold her and sit with her in the family room until she has the confidence and knowledge that it is OK to explore the house. Its your house too honey, make it your home!

5-10-2013 Good report from the vet. Would like to see her get to about 6 pounds. Kahlua is at 4.7 right now. Eating twice a day and cleans her plate each time. Her fur has gotten soft with a daily brushing. It dosent take long to brush her out and she really enjoys it. She is my TV/movie buddy. I can tell she is ready to explore the up stairs. This weekend will be the test. I believe she will do fine. We have fallen into a routine and it suits both of us. Looking forward to this weekend to see what happens and how she reacts.

5-14-2013 My little girl has a VERY delicate stomach. She puked a couple times and had a liquid poop one day. We are trying to ween her into dry food but I believe she is not used to having food out anytime she wants it. I mix dry with wet but I think the dry gets too moist and runs right through her or she eats too much. So far she has had a liquid poop once a week and puked about the same. I really want to keep her. It has only been 2 weeks and she has adjusted very well too us. But we have got to get this liquid poop straightened out. Her urine smell is very strong and I clean her litter box every morning and afternoon. The vet checked her out so she dosent have a UTI. I truly believe that if we can get her food adjusted she will be a keeper. It is hard trying to find out what she can and cannot eat.

5-16-2013 Left dry food out for her dinning lesuire and gave her some wet yesterday afternoon late. Over the course of the evening she did clean her bowl pretty much This morning I noticed she puked in her litter box but her stool is solid. I did not see any urine deposit. Cleaned out her dish and gave her some dry. MAN she went right too it. I left the basemant door open most of the afternoon yesterday but she did not come up. I had the basement windows open yesterday and she loves to jump up onto them. She seems a little lazy yesterday and after playing on the windows she came over got some quick loving then went to her Laz-z-boy for the longest time. I tried to coax her over but she stayed in her chair and went to sleep. What a life!!

5-24-2013 She is on dry food and has started to venture into the kitchen a bit. No problems. She has started to sleep in her bed which I find suprising. I have not heard her stomach growl lately. She loves to be brushed out and take treats by hand. Shes a keeper.

PIPPIN
Purrr purrrr purrrr purrr purrr. I am an outgoing somewhat demanding and needy but very affectionate cat. I'm not crazy about other male cats but could get along with a female, ,but truly prefer people. I'm underfoot a lot so watch out! That's because I want lots of loving and attention! I'm good in my habits and while I have a slightly quirky eye it's no big deal. Lots of love in a 9 pound package!

Notes from Home
Pippin is doing well and is the undisputed King of the Household! We have two rescue lab/shepherds and a female Siamese rescue and they all recognize him as THE BOSS. He is demanding in that he gets his Pounce treats every night at bedtime and lets us know if we're late with them. Can't imagine life without Pippin. Undoubtedly the most personable and loving cat I've ever had!

MICHONNE
3/24 Meom says I am a "lap tester" for sure. I like to check out every lap that becomes available.

3/23 I have been checking out the rest of the house while the residents are taking their afternoon naps. Meomy has observed that I need to learn some household manners (the kitchen counters are off limits for cats in this household and I apparently don't understand that rule yet). Meomy also hasn't been able to find any cat toy that interests me. I have been loving exploring and talking to the family in my chirpy voice. I have lap-tested everybody this afternoon and I knead and knead and KNEAD when I am happy (and drool some, too). Meom suspects I might have been weaned very young. I still have a tendency to nip when I am very happy/overstimulated, but I'm not serious about it.

3/14 I am tickled to be in my three-story "condo" in the upstairs living room. I get to talk to everybody, watch comings and goings and the TV.

3/4 I am much better now, finally! Meomy promises I can get out of isolation in a day or two and boy, oh boy, I am ever ready. I have been talking a blue streak lately: I have a fairly typical Siamese voice and a sizeable vocabulary. Video to come as soon as I am free to move about.

2/22 I am still sniffling, though I am eating well and seem not to feel that bad about this cold. Meowmy vows one more round of medication before moving on to seeing if perhaps I have something else, such as a food allergy, that's causing me to sniffle and sneeze. Meomy has also figured out that I must have been mistreated in my previous home: I am quick to set boundaries by using my claws and my teeth. Meom says that means I'll need a patient, savvy adopter who is willing to teach me that humans can be trusted and that it's not necessary to try to hurt people who love me when I have had enough attention or when I don't agree that I shouldn't go out the door. Meom thinks I can unlearn these bad habits because I seem to love attention and interacting with people. I like to talk, too, and my voice is not too soft or to loud, but nice and sweet.

2/16 I am still fighting this upper respiratory infection. Meomy says I am a good sport about my medicines and fluids and I still appreciate attention. My appetite and litter box habits are good, so it's just a matter of time before I feel better. Meomy thinks I've just been really rundown from being on my own and that's making it take a little longer for me to get well.

2/11 I definitely seem to be on the mend. No sneezes today and my sniffles are almost gone. I'm showing an interest in being let out of the isolation room, but meomy says, "Not yet!" Wait until you see my MAGNIFICENT (albeit un-meezerly) raccoon tail! Pictures coming soon.

2/10 Meomy says I am breathing a bit easier today which makes her glad. I gave kisses while being held this morning. I definitely have a little white tiger face!

2/9 Just arrived with a shelter cold in progress. More information soon when I'm feeling a little better. Meowmy says I'm pretty happy and affectionate even if I'm sneezy it isn't making me grumpy in the least. Su-Noi means "little tigress" in Thai...I have beautiful lynx point markings and very, very soft, silky fur!

Today is day 9 w/ Michonne. She is such a special girl. We are taking our time & going slowly. She certainly has trust issues but with patience we know she will accept us all. Physically she is fantastic. She so enjoys looking out the windows & taking in the outdoors that way. Happy she shows no interest in scooting out. We are so lucky to have her. Thanks to all the awesome people in your organization. Will keep you guys posted as we all adjust.
Rachel
Yes one month today! Wow. She is doing great in so many ways. But she is not easy to figure out at times. My collie & she are pretty good roomies. Our older cat is really non threatening & they are fine in the same areas. We are working on her w/ the other cat & dog. I know it will take time so we aren't rushing it. She has terrific litter box habits & is a great eater.
Hoping to have more to report once she is integrated in w/ the whole family.

Lily has settled in quite well. We had a good, but long, trip from Virginia to Florida. We made several stops to allow Lily to move out of her cage while inside the car. Love, love, love her.

BALSAM
I am learning how to eat canned kitten food and kibble without depending on mom for my food. I am growing really fast but it will still be several more weeks before I am big enough to go home. I love to play and wrestle with my brother Quick and will need a play buddy in my new home. My points are still coming and so not easy to see all my cute little spots here and there. So keep checking back on me.

Balsam is a great kitten and has gotten HUGE. I haven't weighed him lately, but he's at least 11 pounds, maybe 12. He is extremely playful and loves water. He cries if we don't let him in the bathroom when we take showers and he's always playing in his water bowl. He also likes to carry a toy around in his mouth as he tears around the house growling. It's too cute for words. Balsam is a real joy to have around.

RAJAH
I'm baaaaaack!

My family loved me sooooo much, but I was just a little too much for their little girl kitty. I guess I didn't learn that 'no' really means 'no' in feline-girl-talk :-( I miss my little human Lily very much, and would love to go to a busy home where I can pester the big people, bounce around with the doggies, and have a fun, ruff n' tumble feline pal to scramble around with.

I had a recent run-in with ringworm, so I'm getting some medicine for the next few weeks. After that, I should be ready to go home in late April! CLEARRRRRRR your calendar!

Smooches! Riki.

Both King (formerly Trump) and Rajah (formerly Riki, aka Naranja) have had their yearly wellness checks and their rabies and feline leukemia vaccines. Dr. Larry says they are 2 fat happy easy going cats. He is absolutely right. We have a well blended household with these 2 and our little feral rescue that we had when we got the 2 big boys. They play together, eat together and sleep together. Raj is the odd man out in the grooming. King and Scamp groom each other every day, with Scamp doing most of the work. He wraps his front legs around King's huge head and holds him down and washes his face thoroughly, including his ears. They all like to play, not only with each other, but also with us. Rajah's favorite toy is a ball that we throw for him to chase. Scamp likes to play fetch with bottle caps and King likes to play with the feather on the string. I am very grateful to siamese rescue for allowing me to include 2 such wonderful personalities in my household. I am also grateful to the dear Lord that these 3 cats integrated into our home and to each other with the ease that they did.. .

I pray that you will have many adoptive parents for the wonderful cats who need a loving forever home and that they will all be blessed with the joy that these 2 have brought to us. God Bless, Georgia Nelson, mother of King, Rajah, and Scamp.

KING
Are you looking for a larger-than-life, fabulous Meezer? Well, look no further! I'm a complete teddy bear - all 15.2 lbs of me! I love being petted & held, and I adore people. I am the best lap snuggler foster mom has ever met! I give kisses to humans and get along well with other cats, and I'm essentially purrfect in every way. My gentle nature would make me a good fit for a home with kids. Can we talk?

King, formerly known as "Trump, is quite a cat. He has attached himself quite firmly to my husband and loves to sleep with his head tucked under Floyd's beard. He does give everyone in the family equal attention, right down to the grandchilden , who came to spend the weekend. I wish I knew where his off button was sometimes because he is most vocal and loudly demanding, particularly when he wants my husband to pick him up or when he wants someone to play with him. He plays likke a very young kitten. He and our other cat race thriough the house and tumble head over heels he loves to chase feathers and play with toys in general. He is very adept at opening doors to get to the person of his choice. He eats and drinks well. uses his litterbox well. is great at grooming himself, but he had so much loose hair we have really had to work at brushing him to get his cat in good condition, but it is really starting to shine. His ears are almost well now, when I cleaned them on Sat. there was just the tiniest hint os dark color on the swab. I feel that when the full ten days of treatment are up that the ears will be completely clear. thanks so much for such a wonderful cat.

ROMEO
They named me Romeo for a reason. But I'm the soft, gentle type, so a quiet, soulmate type relationship would be desired. And when you ask "Where for art thou", I'll answer "in your lap, silly billy, purring away!

Romeo has been with me and my little seal point, Winnie, for around a month, and it is as if he has always lived in our home! He is a wonderful big boy and is a wonderful match for Winnie. Winnie is around half Romeo's size, but what she lacks in body type she makes up for in energy, wily moves, love of toys, and in overall zaniness. They play for hours and then spend more hours entwined for snoozing and grooming. They play "fight to the death" several times a day and race up and down the stairs. Romeo is getting his he-man physique back with all of the exercise. Long story short, Romeo is a terrific cat and I am so happy that he has made Vermont his home! Karen

DAISY MAE
Actually, my full name is Luckie Lexie Silver Slippers, but you can just call me Lexie for short. I am a lucky girl. Someone found me left behind in a garage with no food and nobody to hear me cry. It is sheer luck that I was even found and given a second chance. And I'm Lexie because foster mom watches Grey's Anatomy (the other Lexie wasn't so lucky!). And lastly I'm a petitle little Ragdoll with 4 little white (silver) slippers. And there you go! I'm as sweet at the day is long and want nothing more than to burrow into the crook of your arm and purr the night away. That is...unless you have catnip. In which case, all bets are off! Right now I'm not sharing my space with anyone, so I can't tell you how I feel about other animals. I'll let you know as soon as I decide.

Notes from Home
12/4/12

I just received an email from Nancy, the wonderful woman who interviewed us and helped us through the adoption process, and she told me that it was our 1-month anniversary with our wonderful Daisy Mae. It's hard to believe that she has been here for only a month because it feels like she has been a part of our family forever. She fits right in and has been such a joy. She's everything that her foster mommy described and more. I will say that she does not quite understand that I'm working from home right now because she is trying to get on my lap (where my laptop is) and is trying to help me type on the keyboard. :)

Daisy's foster had been calling her Lucky Lexie because she did not know what her prior name was. After finding out that her prior owner had called her Daisy and that Daisy responded to it, she notified me of that. We had not quite settled on a name for our beauty yet, but Daisy sounded perfect. We call her Daisy Mae because Mae was my husband's late paternal grandmother's name.

I will also note that our new family (we just got married on July 28th) has been having a rough time because my husband's older brother (and only sibling) passed away very unexpectedly of a ruptured aorta (unknown genetic issue) on August 23rd. He was only 30. Although I've had some grief issues, my husband has definitely had a lot more grief and depression. Daisy's presence has really helped with a lot of that. She will lay on his lap or at his feet in his "man cave," and they love playing with her teaser toy together.

Daisy's integration with our resident cat, Max, has gone well. There was a bit of hissing to begin with, but they are doing fine now. They lick each others' heads and play, although Daisy is more into the playing now than Max is.

Thanks again for giving us our baby girl! I have already recommended your rescue to several people who may be looking to adopt kitties within the next year or so.

12/7/12
I am just giving another update. Daisy is still doing well. She and Max are playing appropriately, and she loves to cuddle with us. If anything, she is helping to bring him out of timidness because he knows that there are now two kitties competing for attention. I am uploading two pictures. One of Daisy and I and one of Max and I. Nolan took these pictures about a week ago when we were decorating a Christmas tree.

5/6/13
I was going to try to wait a few days to type my update because I still have not figured out how to send the pictures I have taken on my new iPhone to myself, and all of the pictures of Daisy Mae are either saved to my husband's or my iPhone. It feels weird knowing that Daisy has only been with us for about 6 months because she fits in so well with our family that it is difficult to imagine a time without her. She definitely has my husband and I wrapped around her little paw, too. As noted by her foster mom, because Daisy came into Siamese Rescue because she had been neglected and not fed regularly, she lives for food. She sleeps with us most of the time, but even when she does not, she waits for one of our alarms to go off and/or for one of us to make the slightest movement, and then she begins her "breakfast song," which consists of her meowing and trying to guide us toward the kitchen. We give her the canned fancy feast first and feed her in the half bathroom near the kitchen because we found that when feeding her and her older brother Max is the kitchen, Daisy (1) ate Max's food before she finished her own and he would just let her eat it and/or (2) she would gobble really fast because she thought she would not get Max's leftovers if she didn't eat fast enough. (Note, Max just really likes the gravy and we let him just lick that because he is a Himalayan and it tends to help him digest food and have fewer hairballs). When we come home in the evening, Daisy meets us at the door and begins her "dinner song" until I give her dinner. She is very dog-like in that regard. She follows us to the door when we leave in the morning, and meets us at the door when we come in after work. When I have my work at home day each week, she "helps me work," by playing with my laptop cord, batting at my highlighters and pens, and sometimes trying to lay on my laptop if she thinks she's not getting enough attention. She and Max also really enjoy "sunbathing" by the sliding glass door in our living room and looking out the windows. She and Max lick each other and play, although Daisy will always be more playful than Max. It is also evident that she is quite bonded to Max. I had to take Max to the vet on Saturday, and my husband said that Daisy meowed and went from room to room after I took Max out in the carrier because she thought he had left. Upon his return, she obviously wanted to play with her brother.

Daisy is very affectionate and a people-centered cat, which is what we were looking for. She is super affectionate and loves to cuddle and be petted. When I get the chance to nap on the weekends, she will cuddle up against me. Similarly, when she sleeps with us, she will cuddle up on my side or sometimes at my feet, and then "biscuits" with her paws on the blanket to show her affectionate. We love our Daisy "biscuits."

At the same time, she also has a lot of energy and enjoys playing with anything and everything. For instance, my husband loves playing "baseball" with her, a/k/a laser pointer (he calls it baseball because like parents play baseball with their human children, he plays laser pointer with Daisy). She is quite the athlete--she will jump after the laser pointer on the wall, and we've learned to be careful of where we point it because she can jump really high. My husband often jokes that our daughter is going to be in the kitty Olympics because she is so athletic.

I will update more later and hopefully learning upload iPhone pictures, but I just wanted everyone involved to know that Daisy is happy and healthy, and that Nolan, Max, and I lover her more than the world. :)

5/12/13
This is my first Mother's Day with Miss Daisy. My husband and I celebrate, notwithstanding that our children have fur. I must note that I have had a horrible time with bronchitis this week, that came after some severe seasonal allergies and drainage, and Daisy has rarely left my side. She has always been lovey and tends to be near us, but she has been sleeping and nappy with me except when she needs to eat and use the restroom. Although she cannot take the sickness away, it warms my heart to wake up and see her still there watching over me. I tell her that she is the best caregiver ever, because she is.
