Notes from Home
Taylor arrived in one fluffy but tired piece, thanks to all the wonderful transporters! As Ernie, her brother, already has claimed this home as his, Taylor was initially quarantined, then slowly introduced to Ernie. He was so eager to meet her...he initially chirped to her through the door, and then played footsie. When they got together the first night they played flying bird-toy together then pounce the mouse. Ernie was initially a bit timid but the next day was hopping around like a kitten. I have Utube videos under "mau4meezers" if anyone would like to seem them play together.
More to come, Abigail

Update- 1month at forever home! Little Taylor AKA "Liz" Taylor, is a healthy bouncing baby girl with a very robust appetite for roast chicken.....a little Tortie Diva! When she came she was only 4.5 lbs, and has since put on an additional pound. Her ribs are not sticking out, and her sore gums are no longer inflamed. She is a little ball of fluff and energy and still loves to play kitten games. She retrieves the bell ball and she and her brother both fetch the grey furry mice. They usually play together well but Taylor is half Ernie's size and he can get rough. Taylor does not have the teeth and claws that Ernie has, and is unfortunately, vigilant about his whereabouts. She does relax in safe places such as up in the cat tree or on special chairs that afford protection. I plan to build some shelving so she can climb to a high perch on top of the hutch. Thankfully she still loves to cuddle, but has a short attention span for that. She is great to brush and willingly lets me brush her teeth and clean her ears. I don't want the cute kitten time to pass too fast but I hope that Taylor's teeth and claws will grow so she can feel more at ease with her brother.
4 Mo Anniversary at Taylor's furever home:
Taylor (teeters) is learning to walk on a harness. Her favorite activity is birdwatching and playing with anything watery. She has a drinking fountain in which she retrieves her jingle ball and drops it. Ice cubes sliding on the floor are another big hit. Taylor and her brother watch TV, especially the animal shows that have small flecks moving across the screen. Ernie is now much bigger, but teeters has learned to stand up to him. She often provokes a tussle....I think she just wants to play like the kitten she is. During the skirmishes, Taylor's fluff was pulled, but her lion's mane ruff is growing back. Taylor and Ernie are my full time companions, family and fur kids. I just love 'em
6 Mo Update : Taylor has grown like a weed. She grew her fluffy coat back in and it requires very little care because she loves to get wet under the water faucet in the sinks. I brush her to keep the hairballs down. She is sooo cute! Loves to hunt the animals on TV and would play all day if I had the time. She gets very frightened by car noises and has wiggled out of her harness. This makes me hesitate to walk her outside on the harness. Any suggestions? The pics are worth a thousand words.
1 year Taylor in her furever home: Tayor is a happy fluffer-nutter. She is so full of energy, and scats around the house teasing her brother Ernie. She can't stay still long enough to cuddle on the my belly often, although she sits right next to me. She also loves to sleep on my quilt, as does Ernie. She is very round, and seems to squirm out of her walking harness. She seems satisfied with being an indoor kitty. Loves da birds and watching wildlife on TV. She has taken hunting lessons from the cheetah videos. I love her deeply, she's brought such happiness, serenity and fun to my life. I love coming home to her!
Already! 2 yr furever home anniversary! Taylor says: I am still cute like a kitten but get into trouble like a Gen Yer that I am. Fun is the name of the game....and yummy food that I like too much. I am always cautious of my brother Ernie sneaking up on me. I can't catch a break! I am up before dawn to chitter at the birds just outside the window. Don't know what I would do if I actually got one. I'm fast and bet it could happen. Mom's OK but she has to pay attention to both of us, sometimes I wish I were the only one, but then, it's fun to have Ernie to tease.
3 Year Adoption Anniversary Note: It is hard to believe Taylor has been here 3 years. She still is very kitten-like. Her fur is so long and fluffy that often fuzzy balls and mice stick to her belly. One minute she happily playing, then the ball disappears deep into her undercoat. It's so funny to watch her try to find it!
Her personality is sweet, playful just as she was described by Debbie Austin, her foster Mom....a shout out to Debbie for nursing my Taylor to health and loving her too. Also greatly appreciate the two college girls who first noticed Taylor behind a restaurant, cold, dirty and scared. They saved her life!

MAGGIE MAY
Foster meowm has patiently explained to me that I will not get a new home for Christmas, but I could get my furever home by New Year's! Wouldn't that be great!?!?

I purr a lot, and headbutt, and purr. I like to be close to you and foster meowm says I'm a chatty cat. I just don't like this closed door system we have going here. I want to be FREE! I want to follow her and let her know how I'm doing, and get any loving she may have time to give. I'm not asking for too much, am I?

If you think you can carry on a conversation with me, and you like cats who are in your face to get loving, then you should really ask about me. Foster meowm says with a personality like mine, I won't last long!

Notes from Home
Maggie May has been with us for 2 weeks now. She is a very confident little girl. She sleeps with us every night. She's eatting well & seems very very happy. She still has not won over 2 of her new brothers but we are working on that. She seems unphased by the dog. She follows me everywhere & needs to be petted. We love her so much. Thank you Siamese Rescue for letting us adopt such a wonderful cat.
2/15/11
Maggie is HOME! She is very very happy here. She chases her new brothers but does not mess with the queen of the house Sassy (flame point geezer). She has never hidden & seems to want to be with us all the time. She's quite a talker & waits for me everyday in the bathroom when I take my shower. She purrs purrs & purrs. We are so in love with this little girl!
3/9/11
Maggie is reallly coming out of her shell. She is playing a bunch & giving her brothers a run for their money. She is very active, eating well etc. She is busy busy busy. We just love her so much. She is a Mama's girl (YEAH!). I will try to post some pictures soon but she moves too fast for me to get any good shots.
3/21/11
Maggie continues being loved by her Mom. She comes running to be petted when I come home from work. She sits with me in my recliner & loves being petted. She has won over 2 of her brothers(only 1 to go). We love love love her!
7/15/11
It's hard to believe we have had Maggie May 6 months already. She is just such a nice cat. We love love love her. She is doing wonderfully. She is a little shy with strangers but is really coming out of her shell. She loves the cardboard scratcher & her catnip toys. I so thank everyone involved with her rescue & hope to adopt again from SCRC!
Maggie May continues to be a Mama's girl. She's such a sweet sweet girl. We are very glad she came to us. This is her first Christmas with us & hopefully many many more to come.
1/15/12
Today we have had Maggie May a year. Wow how time flys by. She is a wonderful little girl & continues to do great in our household. She sleeps with us every night. She has also decided petting is a great thing. She plays more now that she has a little brother. At first she wasn't too thrilled with him but he has won her over. We cannot imagine our lives without her. Thanks again to Siamese Rescue & all involved for allowing this sweet girl to be part of our household. We love love love her!

Two years ago today we picked up our wonderful little snowshoe girl. She is doing so so well. She's a great cat. I could not have asked for a better little girl. Our life is so much better since we got her. She plays well and still sleeps with us every night. She had her Vet exam in Sept and she was a hit there too. She now has a new little sister and has been great with her. We love love love her. We want to thank again all involved in her rescue. We can say enough good things about her. She is also the reason I have gotten involved again with SCRC as a volunteer.
1/15/14 Three years ago this wonderful little girl entered our life. She is such a little purr bucket. She comes running when I come home from work. So cute. Its hard to believe we have had her so long already. She is a smart smart girl. She knows her name and knows if she is doing bad! LOL. I want to thank everyone again for rescueing this great cat and letting us adopt her. Yes we do love her.
1/15/15 Wow where has 4 years gone. Maggie continues to be a great little girl. She and her brother OC are now best buds. She still comes running into the kitchen when I come home from work. We are just so in love with her. She loves her wet food and cleans her bowl. I just cannot imagine our life without her.
2/10/15 Sadly we had to put our girl to sleep. She had a lung tumor. 4 years was not enough time with her. RIP sweet girl we will always love you.

Notes from Home
Today Hannah had her first vet visit w/ her new DVM. Hannah seems very content and happy both with her new home and her new vet. Fingers crossed that integration w/ Leo on Aug 1st goes well.

11/2014 Hannah and Leo are buddies and share everything, investigations, naps, cuddletime, naptime, bathtime, playtime (like two Tasmanian devils), meals, litterboxes, and alarm clocks (waking up everyone, eventhough they have food in their dishes).

12/28/2014
Hannah and Leo are very helpful with the holiday decorations and gifts.

1/28/2015 New year = new collars and bells (pics will be posted soon).

Notes from Home
Marzi is settling into the household very nicely. Almost got a picture of her nose-to-nose with Mickey, my VASC snowshoe, but one of my dogs got in the way. She and Mickey aren't quite snuggling buddies yet, but they are definitely at the sniffing each other stage. Marzi and my dogs also are doing well. She is really a delight -- sweet and playful. The other morning I woke up to the sound of purring and the feeling of having my shoulder kneaded.

Notes from Home
Hi Jeanne, David, Siri-

Wanted to take a few minutes to provide you with an overdue update on Lucia, f/k/a Mittens...

She had a little cough by the time we got her home that Saturday night and it continued through Monday so we took her to the vet and were told it was an upper respiratory infection. After an antibiotic shot and some quiet time alone in the guest room we took her back to the vet where she was pronounced healthy. At that point we decided to start formally introducing her to Julian. They had been sitting on opposite sides of the door talking to each other for days and days... Very quickly they became familiar/friendly with each other. Although he is twice her size and age she chases him around as much as he chases her. They play and nap together and he is teaching her all kinds of things like how to clean his ears :)

Her favorite game is chasing little sponge balls around and in the morning we find that she has usually brought 4 or 5 upstairs to the bedroom. A close second is that she loves to climb up/on/over Jeff. Many times she will
balance or snuggle on his shoulder until he puts her down.

We think she is doing absolutely fantastic here in her forever home and while we are so very happy to have her, equally important, we think she is very happy here.

Thanks again Jeanne, you did wonders with this perfect little ball of energy and we have given her plenty of belly kisses for you :)

Will upload too many pix so you can see how she is growing.

VIVIENNE
I would say she is more a Ragdoll.. She is such a sweet little girl. She is still a kitten at about nine months and just a loving girl.

My story: I was pretty much dumped off at an abuse center,. Was my owner staying there? No I think it was just a place that was easy to leave me. There were two feral cats there and they didn't really like me. On top of that I was pregnant and loaded with those terribly itchy fleas. Can you just imagine how hard that was and I didn't get a lot of the food there.

This wonderful Rescue Angel found me and they could see I was not a feral cat and they swooped me up and they even got the ferals their surgery. They got rid of those itchy fleas and showed me life could be good again. My hair was thin but it has come back and I am healthy and very ready for my forever home. Foster mom put up a video of me. Hard to get because I just wanted affection not video. You can see how beautiful I am. Don't you want me to be part of your family? Vivienne

We love our little Vivienne. We are so happy to have her as part of our family.
We are almost at 2 months! She is such a special, sweet girl. She and Boo are friends now!! They love to chase each other and play. Here is a picture I took this past week of the two of them.
We are almost at 5 months. She is a precious kitty. She likes to stand on her hind legs and nuzzle my nose. It is so cute! She and Boo have so much fun together and are such precious additions to our family.

Are you looking for a little "fluff" for the Holiday Season? Well...here I am...all 2 1/4 pounds of me! I'm a little quiet & just sitting back until I get a little more comfy with my foster mom, but it won't take me too long.

Stay tuned for updates!

PATRICK
I have a fever mask from being sick and am still recuperating and trying to get my strength and weight back. I'm eating well and using my litter box as I should. I love the soft bed and all the attention. Maybe pretty soon I'll be able to start looking for a forever home once I'm back on track health wise and Meowmy knows what is going on with me.

Notes from Home
Patrick has settled in like he's always lived here. He is so sweet and loving, and though declawed, can hold his own when needed if the others get too rambunctious. he is gaining much needed weight and doesn't look or feel so emaciated any more. My vet said "He's a keeper!"

I am so grateful to the intake evaluator, Cheryl, for rescuing him (and his brother, Brink) and keeping them safe until we had foster space for him.

BACALL
Wow! We're really starting to find ourselves now. I'm learning to take charge around here, and that means not taking anything from the big cats! Tiny package, but I pack a wallop! I'm becoming more comfortable with peoples every day (still not a lap sitter though)! I do like the occasional pets, and I'll even purr for you from time to time. If I feel like it of course. Foster dad says we're really starting to show some assertiveness. I dunno. I just like to play. A lot. Very rambunctiously. And with my brother of course. We romp day and night. We're still looking for a permament home together! Got a warm spot in your house (and your heart) for us?

Til next time,

Notes from Home
Kona (now Bogey) and Kia (now Bacall) are healthy and doing well although Bacall apparently has hereditary dental problems that have caused 5 teeth to be extracted. Consequently she is eating mostly canned food and has lost some weight. She is now between 9 and 10 pounds. On the otherhand, Bogey is about 14 pounds.

Both love watching the birds and squirrels out the window and from the screened in porch when the weather is not too cold.

Bogey is very kind to our older cat, Woodie, who is almost 18 years old. She was adopted from Siamese Rescue in 2000 (originally named Beiging).

Bogey has become a lap cat who shares my lap with Woodie when we are watching television.

Bacall really enjoyed watching the Kitty Bowl II that was shown in conjunction with the Superbowl.

TESSA
Hi there, I'm Tessa. Meowmy thought that would be a good name for me, as she said she bets I was a Contessa in my youger days. She thought she'd found me the perfect forever home, but that wasn't to be, so now we're looking again. I don't ever want to be outside or in a shelter ever again!

I love the company of another laid back kitty, and like to play with wand toys with her. I don't even mind the dog that lives here. Check out my pictures and copy and past this link to see my video.

Notes from Home
It's been 10 days since we brought Tessa home, and what a great 10 days! After spending the first hour under our bed, she came out and jumped right into our hearts. Once she checked out all the "Molly smells" (our other cat) in our bedroom, bath, and closet, she made herself right at home and has been sleeping on our bed (and sometimes on our heads or chests) since that first night.

Tessa hasn't become a lap cat yet, but is a champion headbutter, purrer, leg-rubber, and loves to be petted and scratched. We're constantly amazed at how trusting she is after only being with us for such a short time. She has perfect manners re: her litterbox, and the cutest soft Siamese meow (a shock to us - our other Siamese is a loud-talker). Every day she talks to us more, and when we come home from work and go up to the bedroom, to be with her, she comes running from her favorite napping place (my winter-socks bin in our closet) when we call her.

On Tues., she passed her vet check with flying colors and was really on her best & cutest behavior there - she even ate the treats they gave her. I think Dr. Herr was going to be her new best friend until itwas time for the bloodwork :-(

Last night we did the big swap - Molly has been moved up to our bedroom area, and Tessa now has the run of the rest of the house. She was very tentative at first, as she was in our bedroom, but by this AM, she was racing all over, playing with all her toys, and exploring (and sniffing) everywhere. Again, great litterbox manners and no problem with eating. I slept on the family room couch in case she would be frightened, but she settled in nicely, and when she wan't playing, she slept curled up on my pillow, up against my head.

We're anxious for Tessa and Molly to meet, but as recommended, are taking our time with that. It's seems like a lengthy process, but we're both convinced that it makes sense and is worth the little bit of extra effort that it takes. We're looking forward to being able to spend our evenings together with both of our "girls" soon!

The entire adoption process has been wonderful, and we're so thankful for all the support we've received. From Jeanne (Tessa's foster mom) to Marjorie (our interviewer) to Siri (Siamese Rescue director) to the volunteer transport folks, everyone has been so great along the way, and also so responsive to my endless questions.

I'd recommend adoption to anyone who's considering it. We feel so fortunate to have been able to have Tessa join our family! (Pictures to come soon)

3/9/10 - Tessa here.... I'm all settled in now and can write my own messages now, thank you very much :-) Tomorrow it'll be 5 weeks since I took over this house, and I finally have these people trained!!

Now that I've gotten my mom & dad totally wrapped around my little paw, I've gone to work on my sister Molly. She was sure a grumpy old lady, and she growled and hissed at me every time she saw me. Now that I'm running the place, I pretty much ignore that, although I did give her a good thump twice (the old "shoot and scoot" routine) when I got tired of it and decided to let her know it.

I think I've begun to wear her down now- this weekend, she ate her breakfast with her back to me and didn't growl; now she doesn't hiss when she sees me, and this morning we had 2 big breakthroughs: she was playing with my catnip banana, and she even laid in my Millie-bed! I took these minor insults in stride... peace at any price! I figure that it's only a matter of time until she'll be eating out of my paw, too... She's big but old, I'm small but fast!

The parents finally found a canned food that is OK for me and that I totally LOVE... when I see my mom pick up the can, I feel like I've been rolling in catnip. I'm still scratching myself a little, but now that they have the allergies figured out, I'm lots less itchy. I could've told them if only they'd asked me...

All in all, life is wonderful here now that I have everyone trained! They sat my cat condo in front of their patio door so that I can enjoy the sunshine and watch the birds, and once afternoon comes, I take my daily nap in mom's sock bin in their closet. I've started following her all over the house (I'm no dummy, I know who feeds me) and since they gush all over me every time I do it, I've started talking to them more and more every day. They still don't seem to mind that when I'm lonely, I wake them up a couple times a night by rubbing all over their faces or laying on their chests - in fact, they seem to like it, strangely enough...

My mom keeps trying to get some good pictures of me to post on here, but so far, no luck. She hasn't figured out yet that every time she switches on the "red eye detector" on her camera, I make my eyes turn this crazy flourescent yellow color on purpose. One of these days I'll humor her and make her think she did it right so that I can post some pictures on here. In the meantime, I'll just keep torturing her!

Love to my Aunt Jeanne, too!
Tessa Leaman

8/4/10
Hi from Lancaster PA!
Since my public has been clamoring for pictures, I thought I'd add a few more for your viewing pleasure...

Still keeping the folks in my house in line, including that other cat (Molly). I've got them all pretty much where I want them (wrapped around my front paws), so no complaints on this end. Food's still real good, new toys keep appearing regularly, and the old girl (Molly) has finally stopped hissing at me. The folks got me a leash, and now I can sit out on the deck with them during the evenings. We like to watch for hummingbirds, but any type of bird will actually be fine with me. I'd sure like to get a closer look at those feeders!

I also like it when they turn on the TV - if only I could get them to watch only Animal Planet and nothing else! I'm glued to the TV when I see other animals on there...

Otherwise, nothing new here - enjoy the rest of the summer!
Love,
Tessa Leaman

2/4/15
Hi everyone,
It's so hard to believe that it's been 5 years since I adopted these humans. I'm happy to report that I now have them completely under my control at all times - mission accomplished!
The former cat-master of the house is now pretty much under my control, too - in fact, she tolerates me enough that she occasionally tries to lick my face, and recently, she even sat on the same fleece pad with me. When my mom went to get her phone to take our picture, I got up so that there wouldn't be any evidence of the crime...that was a close call!
I like my human mom enough that I'm glued to her all the time - she keeps saying that I'm the cat who thinks she's a dog...I'm sure she doesn't realize how insulting that is. I just like to be wherever she is at all times, as she is the keeper of the food. I still sleep curled up against her every night and am in her lap the minute she sits down.
Only wrinkle in my life is that my doc tells us that I have kidney failure. I lost a lot of weight until they could find a food that I could keep down and which didn't contain any of the foods that I'm allergic to. Every day my mom gives me half of a Pepcid and every other morning, She gives me an appetite stimulant. As much as I hate to admit it, I'm getting used to having them shoved down my throat, but I'd never admit that to her! We're having even more bonding time now, since she takes me to our doc twice a week for IV fluids (my dad almost fainted when we did it at home, so that was the end of that). It takes about 35-40 min. each way to the doc, and most of the time I doze in my carrier until we get there. I really hate that big needle, but they let me stay in my carrier while they do it since I'm more comfy in there, and I grit my teeth and take it like the trouper that I am. Now all the people at my doc's office love me, too, so it's nice to know that my charm is recognized by all.
My doc says I'm holding my own and I'm doing my best to enjoy every day. I'm enjoying all of my toys, following the sunshine up the steps in the house (my mom is including the latest portrait of me doing that), and having my humans wrapped around my littlebpaws at all times.
Thanks again to my Aunt Jeanne Brunn and everyone at Siamese Rescue for the wonderful care you gave me and for finding me my fur ever home!
Love,
Tessa Jannello-Leaman
