GIMLI
Hi there, I'm Sushi. I'm a bit under the weather right now, but Meowmy is giving me medicine to make me better. Once I'm feeling better and can mingle with the other kitties here, I'll tell you all about me, but for now meowmy says I have to just chill out and get well.
Update: 3-20-I'm feeling better and just had a photo shoot. Check out my video and photos! I also told Meowmy that I like laps!

Notes from Home
We have had a very eventful 6 months with Gimli (Sushi). He is doing every well fitting in with our family and his sister Leia who we adopted three weeks after Gimli. He's very affectionate and cuddly. He's always in the center of everyone's attention.
We have had some major concerns with him. I've had him to the vet I believe 4 times now trying to figure out why he has miliary dermatitis. He licks his back down the sides of his spine until his skin is raw and then he develops scabs. He's been on two rounds of prednisone (2 differentt times) to clear up the wounds. It didn't help. I've also changed his food to science diet prescription DD food to see if his licking and biting was due to a food allergy. His coat improved a good deal but the licking and grooming didn't stop. the vet also suggested that he be put on a flea treatment, thinking his behavior could be due to a flea allergy. That didn't help either! I now have him on atopic and have had a cone on him for two weeks. His scabs have cleared up due to the fact that the cone was preventing him from licking. I am hoping the attopica has been a big factor in his healing too. I took the cone off this evening to see how he does with it off. I have my fingers crossed that the atopica is the magical cure :). If you have any recommendations for this type of dermatitis I'd love to get some feedback. Sometimes I think be just has an OCD Leo ken with licking.
One other major concern we are having is that he has urinated outside of the box 4 times now. I am not sure what is causing him to do this but I could use some help with this matter. We've been lucky that the times he has done it, it's been on objects that could be washed or we just threw out. We have 3 litter boxes (we have 2 cats) and I empty the boxes daily or sometimes every other day.
We love Gimli SO much but are scared about the urinating outside of the box. Any help would be appreciated with both concerns. Thank you!

KATINA
Quiet loving home preferred, my owner is ill in the hospital and I need a new home! I've spent my first three years one on one with a senior and so new things are a bit scary, but once I figure you out I'm super friendly and talkative!

Notes from Home
Hello All!
It's been awhile since I have told anyone an update regarding Tina. She is such an amazing member in our household. Needless to say, she was definitely a different cat when we first met her than she is now. When Chris and I first met Tina, she was sitting behind a refrigerator at the rescue center and she was very difficult to get her to come out. She was super scared and seemed very timid. When we brought her home from the rescue center, she cried all the way, unsure of what was happening. Well, we brought her home and introduced her to a small area. She was fine with that and we tried introducing her to the rest of our apartment. She was SO scared to even walk down the hallway and watched our every move with little trust. We made sure to limit visitors until she became comfortable. Tina took quite some time to eat which made Chris and I very worried and she started peeing on our Christmas tree skirt. Both of these were due to high levels of stress and wrong litterbox placement. She also exhibited a (honestly pretty funny looking)unique behavior of wiping her bottom on our carpet. She was taken to the vet and had no worms or anything else the vet could find. We think she just thinks the carpet feels good on her butt. Tina has warmed up so much to me and Chris that she follows us EVERYWHERE. She waits by the door for me to get home from work (it's almost like she knows I'm coming home at a certain time)! Then when I get home, she will meow to be picked up and put her paws on me. She loves to watch me do my hair, makeup, and pretty much anything I do. Chris and I will be getting married in May and we have been working with a lot of fake flowers. She LOVES to watch us put flowers together. Unlike most other cats that would rather play with the flowers, she would rather watch. Chris and I have truly fallen in love with her. Thanks so much for this little one!

Almost two years we've had this beautiful addition to the Miller house :) When we first bought Tina she was at the rescue hiding behind a refrigerator crying and scared. She had no home, no family, and obviously just needed love to bring out her character. Now she is so happy! Every day she runs to the door when we get home and meows to play and rolls over to show us her belly just like a dog would. I never thought I'd get so lucky :-)

Notes from Home
Sam, my husband and I are one big happy family. Sam's relaxing into her surroundings and feeling more secure. Her curiosity is increasing along with her desire for more food. She runs and plays with her favorite furry mice and loves to sleep in the sun and my lap as much as possible. She's a talker, but it's a soft purr more than a meow. We love having her with us, she's a perfect fit. We're lucky to have found such a sweet girl. Thanks Siamese Rescue Center!
July 1, 2010. It's been six months of living with my sweet little girl, Sam. She's an amazinglly happy cat. We spend alot of time together, we play with a new mouse-on-a-wire toy that she loves more than the furry mice. I think she would love to have more play time and when the time is right I'll find her a doggie friend to wrestle with. I'll keep you all posted.
August 23, 2012. Sam made a big move this year. She's now a resident of Bronxville, New York and is quite happily adjusting to her new home. Another big change came one year ago this month, Sam acquired a sister, her name is Zoey and she's a red mini dachshund. Sam took her time getting to know Zoey, but they've finally bonded. I haven't seen them sleeping together, but I'm hopeful that someday (now that they will feel a real winter) they will want to cuddle. I can't wait for that day. ; )
November 4, 2015. We've moved again and now living in Des Moines, Iowa. Little did Sam know that she was a going to see so many places. We drove from NY in August 2014, Sam traveled well, staying mostly in her soft kennel, but occasionally wandering out to find an even darker place to hide. What a good sport she has been with all the moves. She quickly took a liking to her new home and found favorite windows and doors to look out. I do think she missed laying in the window sills at the last house. She loved the wind blowing through her hair, the tweeting birds and the interesting smells in the air. That was the closest thing to the great outdoors for her. We found a great vet here in Urbandale, Dr. Doubek and her amazing staff. Every vet Sam has had loves her sweet disposition, she's always such a good girl in the office. In June, I noticed Sam was pooping outside of her litter box. I called Dr. Doubek for help and she suggested a few things. I tried them all without much success. Then in August Sam began throwing up daily, so I took her to see the Dr. She did blood work and found that she was having kidney problems, so we started a new food and gave her anti-acid to help her upset stomach. She improved for a short time, but began to act very unusual and panicky in the house. She stopped all of her normal behavior and seemed out of sorts. Again I took her to Dr. Doubek. Sadly on September 1, Dr. Doubek felt a tumor in Sam's abdominal area. I left the vet's office in tears. Sam rapidly loss weight, but continued to eat small amounts and drink water. I've been watching her go though good and bad days, but I'm so terribly sad to say the time has come. She's suffering and her quality of life has diminished. I cry for her daily and don't want to be without her, but I don't want her to suffer any longer. She has given me almost seven wonderful years. I will miss her company, her chirps, her sweet face and perpetually waving tail so very much. I love you and will never forget you Samantha. I'm so sorry for this sad news. Perhaps when the time is right, I will again help another sweet meezer in need.

Kesey continues to be a mama's boy with all of his affection and attention. We now play Fetch every day, which is great exercise for my slightly chubby boy. Both he and Jada have taken to sleeping on the bed with me at night, and they are always right there to wake me when my alarm goes off. He is the best about drinking water and the first to seek treats and their special canned food at night.

FRANKIE
Hi, I'm Frankie!
My new Meom says I'm such a good boy. My owner passed away and I was taken to a shelter to be put to sleep. Well I'm not sure what that means; I like to sleep but I also like my people company to pet me and rub my chin.
I had an eye infection at the shelter but that's better now. My Meom says she's going to take some better pictures of me so check back to see them soon.
I know you're looking at all those little Flame Point Whipper-Snappers on this site but if you ask about me I promise I won't be making all that noise at night like those crazy kids! Don't get me wrong, I like to bat things around too and play with feather wands.
So hit that 'ask about me' button and Meom will tell you what she knows about me.
Chirps, Frankie

Notes from Home
Frankie is doing quite well in his new home. He spent a week in isolation and since then he has pretty much had the run of the place. I think he would like to be friends with my other cat, Molly, but so far she is having no part of it. She is still hissing & growling at him, but he just ignores her. He is a good eater with most foods, but is turning up his nose at pate foods. So far he has not jumped up in my lap - but I am taking things slow with him. Purrs a lot when he is petted. He has an appointment tomorrow with the vet, but I don't have any real "issues" to discuss - other than the fact he is still pulling hair from his back. He is a beautiful cat - and we are enjoying him!!
Here we are - - 6 months after bringing Frankie home. Frankie has been a wonderful addition to our home. He is really a good cat. He is very loving (however so far he is not a lap cat) and wants a lot of attention. He especially LOVES being brushed - - almost as much as eating - - (well probably not!) His litter box habits are excellent. He never has an accident. He and Molly are even tolerating each other - - they both sleep on our bed at opposite ends during the day. I might add that he spends a good part of his day and night napping. He does let us know he is ready to eat at 5:30 every morning. I did discover that Frankie does not like thunderstorms. He runs in our pantry and hides behind the garbage can. He has pretty much stopped pulling hair from his back. I think that must have been a nervous condition. We want to thank everyone involved for making this a smooth transition for Frankie as well as us. All the volunteers do such a wonderful job. I wanted to send a special "thanks" to Carol - Frankie's foster mother. She put up with all my e-mails and dumb questions and was always there to help in any way she could.
November 1, 2015 was Frankie's one year anniversary with us. What a character he is!! We just love him! He has certainly become a welcome addition to our home. He has given us a couple of scares when we could not find him. He is a master at finding a very small place to take a nap. He is a pretty big cat, but he squeezes into the smallest areas. He has been to the vet for a checkup and received a clean bill of health. He and his step-sister Molly are getting along pretty well. They like to scrap a little, but nothing serious - - it's more like a game. One think about Frankie is that he never misses a meal!! He is a bit of a pest anytime I am in the kitchen. I guess he thinks when anyone is in the kitchen they should feed him. His favorite time of the day is his brushing. Next favorite thing to do is sleep!! He is still does not like strangers coming into the house and usually he hides until they are gone. I wonder if he thinks he might have to move again?? All in all he just a delight and we are so happy we adopted him. Again I must mention how much we appreciate the help we received from his foster mother Carol and the Adoption Center as well. You all do a wonderful job. Also, I would encourage anyone to adopt an older cat. It has really worked out well for us.

Notes from Home

I don't know what it is about my sweet Ruthie that makes me love her so much, but just the thought of her makes my heart happy. She is not the same little girl that she was just a year ago and the transformation has been astonishing and wonderful to watch.
This summer I went on vacation for about five days and she and her brother Vinnie were well taken care of with twice daily visits by my wonderful pet sitters. Evidently, Ruthie missed me while I was gone and has been my shadow ever since. Never a big cuddler except at night, Ruthie is never far from my side and spends every evening snuggled on the couch with me. Her Meezer voice, once used sparingly and quietly, has grown in epic proportions and now directs me to her every need. Turn on the faucet at 3 a.m., you say Ruthie? No problem, your wish is my command.
I'm so thankful for this transformation and am enjoying it while it lasts. Now, if we could only get past the fear of letting me cut her nails so I wouldn't have to stage a sneak attack every fourth weekend and scoop her up and stuff her in her crate for a trip to the vet to let the professionals take care of it. Oh well, you can't have everything!
10/30/2014
Three years with sweet little Ruthie. My heart just melts when I see her and now that she has found her little squeaky voice, sometimes I think it will downright explode from love.
Ruthie still isn’t much of a cuddler. She won’t sit on your lap or even next to you on the couchmuch, but she has decided that the bed is a great place to cuddle with mom every once in a while. And if there’s time for an afternoon nap, she’s right there ready to keep you warm. Ruthie is pretty even tempered until it’s time for a nail trim. She still won’t let me do it so once a month I have to trick her into letting me pick her up and stuff her in her cat carrier for a trip to the vet. I get loving reports from the vet techs, like “Hey, we were on the last paw before she tried to kill us this time.â€
Ruthie and her brother Vinnie both love to spend time watching the birds in the bird bath outside the window. That’s their favorite pastime.
Ruthie really changes so much as she gets older and it’s such a great adventure. She is one special cat.
(10/31/13)
It seems like it’s been much longer than just two years ago that Ruthie and her brother Vinnie came to liv1e with me!
Princess Ruthie already knew she was the prettiest and best cat ever even before she appeared in the 2014 Siamese Cat 4Rescue calendar. Now she just prances around wearing her invisible tiara and expects both Vinnie and me to swoon whenever she walks by, which of course we do.
Ruthie has really come out of her shell in the last six months. Never much of a talker before, she now has plenty to say and her little voice makes me laugh and smile every time I hear it. It’s more of a chirp than a meow and it is adorable. She has also seemed to decide that I am hers during the past couple of months and spends much more time cuddled next to me on the couch in the evenings. She even spends most nights sleeping near me for at least a little while now.
I love this little girl more than I could ever have imagined and I am so happy to share my home and my life with her.
(10/12)
Ruthie surprises me daily. She and her brother Vinnie have a great time playing together with all of their new toys and are so fun to watch. She is still timid in certain situations, but it has been a pleasure to watch her come out of her shell. She is quite a little princess and I can't wait to watch her grow up.
Ruthie has turned out to be the princess I knew she would be and, in fact, has asked for a tiara for Christmas. She is just the sweetest, most beautiful girl and I am so happy she is a part of my life.
Ruthie is much smaller than her brother Vinnie and is much quieter as well. Every once in a while she’ll throw out a meow and it always makes me laugh because it’s so dainty and cute. She’s independent, but affectionate on her terms. She is wary of strangers, but getting more and more brave. Ruthie is not a lap cat, but is always nearby. Vinnie is a bit of a bully and every once in a while she will decide that she has had enough and turns the tables on him. She isn’t afraid of anything and runs to the windows during storms to check things out. She and Vinnie both do that.
We recently moved and once we got to the new house and the commotion was over, she handled it like a champ. She loves all the space in the new house and the wide window sills. For some reason she has decided that sleeping at the foot of the bed is the place to be at night now, which she never did at the old place. She does turn into a crazed maniac when it’s time to clip her claws, so I finally gave up and now she gets loaded into the carrier for a trip to the vet when she starts to become Ruthie Scissorhands. She HATES the vet and we have to take the carrier apart to get to her (after I have to spend an hour outsmarting her just to get her in the carrier in the first place), but she hasn’t figured out that if she would just let me clip them it could all be avoided. Maybe someday.
I absolutely love Ruthie to death. She just makes my heart melt.
