TULIP FKA SHEILA
I'm in iso right now and not happy about it, but foster mom says I have 8 days to go whatever that means. In the mean time I love to held and cuddled. I am entertaining myself right now until I can get out and meet the roommates.

Notes from Home
Hey...It's me...Tulip!
I have been in my furever home for about a year and a half now. My people LOVE me and I love them back. My family has been very easy to train, they catch on very quickly. Therefore, I RULE! But, I am a very good girl: I eat well, have perfect littlerbox habits, sit pretty for treats, play hard and help supervise with whatever chore needs to be done. I also guard the house and especially the lady of the house. If you are a stranger, don't get too close to her, especially if she is holding me. If you do, you will probably get a nice hiss and swipe with my laser lightning fast paw. These people can be a little dense, it took them a while to figure out that I was being protective and not a naughty girl.
Otherwise I am a friendly, happy, fun loving gal. I like to answer the door and greet our guests. Ping pong balls and fishing poles are my favorite toys, along with toys that have bells.
I will sleep with you for hours, but only if the time is right and the covers are prepared properly. If I am tired and want to sit with you on the chair, you MUST have two blankies ready for me to crawl in between. I peek my head under the top cover to make sure there is another one under there for me to lay on top of. That's the only proper way to take a nap, right? One blankie underneath and one on top. Otherwise, forget about it, I'll find something else to do.
I know what the word "no" means but don't like it at all. When I am told "no" I put my ears back and walk away to punish the person that dared utter that word. Hmmph! I get over pretty quick though. My family thinks that one of the funniest things that I do is to come running to you trilling and excited like I haven't seen you in years, even if it's only been a minute or two since I saw them last. I can't help it, I just love to be around my family, I get sooo excited EVERY time I see them no matter how long it's been.
I have the most luxurious coat, even if I do say so myself. I look quite different from when I was a kitten, check out my photos.
Also, I had the most wonderful Christmas. I am so sad that the Christmas tree is gone. I loved laying on the tree skirt and didn't bother one ornament. Of course, I understood that I had to be good if Kitty Claus was going to come and leave me presents. I must have been great because I got tons of toys and treats and a cool stocking with a kitty on it.
Thank you Siamese Rescue!
Tulip
September 2010
Hey! It's Tulip! Just a quick update for my fans.
I am still doing great! I am a happy happy girl! My people call me a stinker sometimes, especially when I wake them up early in the morning. They have this thing hanging from the bedroom doorknob that makes noise when I nudge it. So if they aren't up when I am ready for my breakfast, I make noise! Then I sit right beside the door staring at the bed just to make sure they heard it. If they don't get up, I just keep doing it over and over! If that doesn't work, I just jump on and off the bed several times while trilling loudly.
I have also started an after shower inspection routine. Yes, I lay outside of the shower while you are getting cleaned up. I then do a double hand inspection, accompanied by additional cleaning where I think you may have missed. Sometimes my people try to slip by without having their hands inspected and I have to yell at them! I give them some serious meows, face all scrunched up, mouth open wide, just so they know I mean business. Otherwise I still have the sweetest squeeky voice. My lady calls me "Little Squeaker" sometimes.
I'm so silly!
I am still a good eater, have great litterbox habits AND my luxurious coat of course!
Check out my new pics!

Just arrived and like my sister, Annie, I'm not afraid of the doggie here, I love to cuddle and play, am good with my litter box and have a good appetite. I, too, would like a male kitty to go home with, so why not pick one from the pages here and ask about me, too!

SNOWDEN
Finally! It took awhile to get where I wanted to, but now I'm here and life is great! I started as a stray asking to come in, but the house was too full. Thanks to a lot of kind hearted people I made my way to VA where I've integrated with the crew here at the VA Center and I'm just loving life! I love people, and am very affectionate. I love other cats and play very well with others. And I don't run with scissors! (just kidding, sorry :) Anyway, I'm an excellent choice for someone, maybe someone like you?

Snowden is doing great. All of his personality characteristics provided were definitely accurate. There is still a little trouble with family integration, but we are taking our time and spending lots of one on one time bonding. Snowden is beautiful and is such an affectionate cat. He loves to be petted and is always happy to see us. He is still very skittish, but we were prepared for that and have let him stay in his safe room, getting him out little by little.

BUNNI
HELLO....IS ANYONE THERE LOOKING FOR A BEAUTIFUL GAL LIKE MYSELF????
My foster meowm thinks I'm the best of the best rolled into one! She tells me that I am a sweet & gentle creature. I'm not sure about all of that, but I am sure that I enjoy being around people and I like to carry on a conversation. I would enjoy watching t.v. with you, sleeping by your side at night (as long as I can take up most of the bed) & most of all I so look forward to the day that I can come home with my forever family. All my meowm's fosters have come & gone while I'm just sitting here waiting. WHERE ARE YOU my forever family????? Come on..don't be shy...just click on that button & my foster meowm has all kinda stuff to tell you about me!!!
Hugs, Purrs & Kisses,
Bunni
P.S. - Foster Meowm wanted me to tell you that I do not jump on kitchen counters...not sure why that matters..but whatever!!

Notes from Home
It has been just over two weeks since we brought Bunni home. She has made herself right at home. She has been fantastic!! We have had no issues with introducing her to the house or dogs!! She is sweet and gentle and patient with the dogs. She only uses her scratchers, always uses her litter box. Everyone that meets her can't believe how nice she is!! She lets anyone pick her up, cut her nails, rolls over for belly rubs. She absolutely LOVES the little mice toys!!! She batts them around the kitchen floor where they glide the most. When she can't find her mice, I know that I have to fish them out from under the stove and the fridge. It is a joy to watch her playing happily! We couldn't be happier with the entire process and all of the wonderful people we have met!!

Affectionate, sweet-tempered, loving. I'm all those things. I lived with other cats in my previous life and am ready to go home. If the vet hadn't confirmed that I was a girl kitty, my foster mom would swear I'm a flame boy because I'm so mellow.

Kendra's been doing very well. At first she wasn't too sure about her new "brother", Griffin, but I think they're coming to an understanding with each other. She loves to play with her dangley wand toys, and she's loving her new food as well. She's such a sweet girl. She's started laying on my chest/belly when I lay in bed and chirping for pets. If you scratch her back, she'll stick her butt in the air and eventually fall over onto her side like, "Ahhh... :)". She gets up in the oddest places sometimes. Such as on top of a 6 and a half foot wardrobe in a pile of folded curtains snoozing. She's such a joy to have and she's already loved so dearly. I'm so grateful to your organization for helping me find her :)

Jesse is doing wonderfully. His sisters have not been as accepting as I would have liked, but he holds his own and is a loving and playful man of the house. They are co-habitating now and I am hopeful that they will soon be able to snuggle up all together, but if not then that works too. Jesse is truly the sweetest little boy and I am lucky to have found him :)

MR. BLUE GENES
UPDATE: August 15th. Oh, my, I feel SO much better now that I'm over my cold. I'm a happy, loving, face kissing, happy boy. I got some really great "blue genes" and am one of the handsomest blues you'll ever see. I love to eat, cat nap, play with toys and meet new friends, but MOST of ALL, I LOVE people. I'd rather eat when people are with me and then I'd like to spend the rest of the day in your lap. Oh, I might play some with the toys, but PEOPLE are my thing. I've met those two beauties with all the toes at the end of the hall and we are becoming friends. They like to talk to me even when I am in my foster room. We carry on great conversations. If you are looking for a laid back, easy going, handsome, talkative, sweet, lap cat, with fanatastic "blue genes", be sure to ask about me, Mr. Blue Genes. I'm your man. Hit that "ask about me button". Purrs and headbutts. Mrs Blue Genes
Mr. Blue Genes, here, saying "hi" and asking for your patience - I got that "shelter cold" and am pretty sniffly right now, but just as soon as I start to feel better, foster mom will post pictures and more about me. For right now, know that I am a very handsome blue boy with outstanding "genes". Just about as handsome as they come AND, I am a lover boy. Even though I don't feel very good right now, I hop up into foster mom's lap every time she comes into the room for cuddling and pets. Oh, how I love to be held and cuddled.
Give me a week and I'll be as good as new - more about me then. Purrs and headbutts, Mr. Blue Genes

Notes from Home
Saturday, September 4:
Mr. Blue Genes here. Woah! That was one *long* ride. I was really good most of the way, but I think I'm going to dislike riding in cars for a while. I got to meet my new Meowmy and Paw Paw, but I'm still going to miss Foster Meowmy. She took really good care of me. My new Meowmy and Paw Paw tried to keep me confined to a couple rooms at first for my own good, but I wasn't having any of that. I made them open up most of the rest of the house for me. At first it was a little scary having so much space where bad things could be hiding, but now I'm King of the House and loving it.
Since settling in here, I've started to show my playful side. I still like spending time on laps, but in the mornings I prefer to gallop through the house and up and down the stairway. After a little of that, Meowmy gets out one of the wand toys and we have a great time. In return for that fun, I make sure that I seek out and neutralize enemy toes. I let those toes know who's boss, but I'm careful not to bite or scratch them. If Meowmy and Paw Paw are a little late getting up, I make sure that they can sleep in peace by attacking any toes I see moving under the covers on their bed.
Last week I learned that one of my more important duties is to help Meowmy change the bedding. It's my job to jump between the blanket and the comforter just to make sure that there's nothing crawling around in there. Meowmy thinks I do a good job. Another thing that happened last week -- Meowmy and Paw Paw had some friends staying over a couple nights. I was *loving* it. I got to meet all these new people and I enjoyed a veritable lap buffet. Woo hoo!
Just this week, Meowmy took me for my first trip to the new Vet. All of the people there fell in love with me and told me what a handsome guy I am. I already knew that, but I still like to hear it from others. The doctor gave me a complete physical and pronounced me fit as a fiddle. He said my respiratory system is clear and that the bit of sneezing I had been doing was just from being in a new place (sniffing stuff is really important, you know). He also said that there was no sign of active ear mites and that the itching should subside as the last of the debris comes out. I was relieved to hear that.
Meowmy and Paw Paw tell me that next week I may be getting a little brother. I'm really excited about that. I can't wait to meet him!
Well, enough for now. I need to go hide on the bottom stair and wait for a set of those enemy toes to show up. Gotta keep them in their place!

Notes from Home
Chaz has been with us for over a month now and has traveled well to both our homes in Maine and Massachusetts this summer. He has learned to jump onto windows and really enjoys watching any activity outside. He has become a bed bug and even shares the bed with our dog Jasmine as we all sleep. He is very secure and is a a voracious eater. We are hoping his fever mask continues to subside but it does remind us still of the journey he made to be with us. Purrs and head, hand and foot butts to his friends back in Virginia. Karen

In a few days I will be celebrating 4 months at my forever home with my mom, dad and doggie Jasmine. My mom finally understands why Aunt Siri called me an ambassador. You see, I really do get along with everyone and every situation. I must say though that I am the happiest I have ever been. My mom and dad see it everynight as I purr and snuuggle and chest, neck and face rub.them. Dare not they get up at night, I will find them!
I am happy to report that my fever mask is entirely gone. Now you can see my beautifiul seal color. I must admit I LOVE to eat, no more of those social eating days - although I enjoy eating with my family and doggie as well. I left the Washington DC shelter at 8 lbs., SCRC at 10lbs.,and I am a well filled out large guy at 12 lbs. My mom has me on a conservative diet so I don't expode and so that she can still pick me up.
I have many beds throughout my house, and my mom never knows where she will find me. I am even enjoying those fluffy beds she has now, they are definitely better than the floor days. I am still a step guy though, you have to be ready for any changes around you.
My mom says that my doggie had emergency surgery last week so I am busy being loving and thoughtful. We are hoping the surgery was a success, so pray with me that Jasmine will be my forever companion.
With all my love, and purrs and head butts to all of you that healed my pain back in Virginia and along the way,

Hello from Massachusetts. I have been in my furever home and with my new family now for more than 6 months. I must say that it feels like I have been with my ma, pa amd Jas (our woofer) forever. As I look around me,, I have the freedom to watch the birds from my living rom slider and I have no desire to leave, comfy beds in many rooms to rest in, plenty of food to eat (I do like all kinds but LOVE my Wellness), a great lap to sit on in my special downstairs room with pa, cozy beds to go to whenever I choose and great hugs and kisses from my ma. Since I have discovered the digs in the basement my mom has kept the door closed more often as she is afraid I may become a basment rat. Her fears are probably unfounded as I often rest on the steps between the rooms. I am looking forward to my travels to Maine in late spring with those huge windows and the companionship from that college kid who insists I sit a special way on her lap. My doggie is doing well after her second surgery and we are pretty good friends but once in a while she goes in my cat bed and I am not sure she knows she is a dog! I am known to sneak into the bed to say goodnight to ma, pa and Jasmine. Come morning I can be found next to ma's head with Jasmine at her side. What a wondeful life!
My love, thanks and head, face, and chin butts to my special friends back in Virginia.
P.S. You might find a Christmas Card from us in your discarded e-mails. I'll enclose an Xmas photo so you have one!
Love, Chaz

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY OUR GENTLE GIANT!!
It has been over one year since this wonderful guy became part of our family and our lives. Time sure flies, but it honestly feels like he has been here always. He remains so nice and he always has the greatest catitude. Chaz recently was diagnosed with megacolin, and after some ups and downs (and hiding) we seem to be on track with twice daily treatments and success! He is getting back to the guy who lets nothing or anyone bother him. His new friend Summit (our 3-mth adoptee) is finally realizing he wouldn't hurt a flea and someday we hope get a picture of the two closer together. Interestingly, they each lay with the opposite arm extended in front of them, would love to capture the mirror effect.
We hope to provide continued good news and updates about our Chaz-man, he wouldn't want it any other way.
We will send updated photos in a few days. Love to Siri and the rest of you great folks at SCRC
Karen and Chaz (Jas and Summit too!)

HERE ARE OUR UPDATED PHOTOS
Chaz continues to adjust to his medications and the changes it brings to his appetite and energy. He is most definitely the sweetest guy you could ever love.

JAKE
I was a happy, well loved boy till my owner died. Then some strange "relative" came along and threw me out in the street. Thanks goodness for the rescue angle who picked me up. She took me in and called Siamese Rescue and here I am. All comfy again. Now all I need is someone to love me again and my world will be complete.
Maybe that could be you?

Jake is doing great! Vet check shows him to be in excellent health. I'm a volunteer with Siamese Rescue and love going to the cat show here in Roanoke and helping with the Siamese Rescue Booth. I try to bring one of my kitties along so that folks visiting the booth can see the kind of great cats we save and find homes for. I wasn't sure how Jake would do and he suprised us all with his relaxed friendly ways with all the visitors. I think he had as much fun there as we did. He was so well behaved that day. At home he likes to stir up trouble in the evenings. He will pester and "stalk" his prey for the night until he or she chases him or runs from him. I know he only wants to play, but sometimes he is met with some serious growling from the others and I have to put him in time out for a bit. He has a very big meezer voice, too, which he'll use in the evenings if he can't find me. He calls and once I ask him "what's the matter, Jake?" he comes running talking all the while until he's happily settled on my legs for some biscut making and a nap.

NICKIE
O Hai!
Foster Mama Rosa says I get to use the computer and pick out a new mommy or daddy, or both!
Well, here's what I would like: Someone who will let me endlessly headbutt them, who would scratch my tummy, and kiss on my face.
But wait! There's more! Here's what you get:
A laid back guy who likes cats and dogs.
A quiet guy, I haven't made a peep since I got here. My motor isn't even running, but that doesn't mean I'm not in total bliss! So if you are worried about 'peace and quiet' I'm your man!
A guy who isn't a fussy eater, and has superb litterbox habits.
A friendly guy who has never met a stranger.
A gentle guy who hasn't shown a tooth or a claw, in case you have small humans around.
A luxurious guy who resembles our Himalayan cousins fur coat.
A playful guy who self entertains.
A guy who is as easy as it gets.
UPDATE:
Shhhhh! I found a letter that Mama wrote about me. Read it. What do you think?
Is she right about me?
Hi dear Cat lover,
I am well aware that my practicing flute has sent many a foster/resident cat into some level of reclusiveness, anxiety, terror or the like. Even Bella, who has heard this her whole life is completely annoyed at it. (ah, critics...)
Well, as soon as I started to play, Nickie, heard it and bounded right on top of me, nose to nose, with only the flute between us, his big arms hanging over mine! Always silent, as is his nature, he just wanted to observe. (or protect me from it?)
Him 'knocking' me off my embrochure made me set him onto the floor. In 2 seconds, he was back for more. I knew that if I were to practice at all he'd have to go to the foster room.
I will not be bringing out the saxophones, for fear he will dive inside it!
A music loving cat, he's one of a kind!

Notes from Home
Schatzi (FKA Nickie) is such a treasure (hence, the name)! He doesn't seem phased by anything. He's acclimated easily to his new home--at least the parts he's allowed to visit thus far. He is a head-butting fool (as his foster described) and he loves to sleep next to my head at night. Oh, and he purrs! Yes, there was some question about this when he was with his foster mama. She thought she detected some murmuring in his throat. Indeed the sound is faint, but you can definitely feel his vibrations as he nuzzles into your neck.
Today marks the 6th full day he has been here and we love him to pieces. At night he's in the guest bedroom with one of us, while all the other furry creatures sleep in the master bedroom. During the day, we move him to the office downstairs (cooler and better views). He is happy in either location. Today, I let him explore the master bedroom while I did some reading there (and the other cats were on the other side of the house visiting Schatzi's bedroom). All seem nonplused. In one of the transitions from one room to another, I opened the bedroom door to find Jack our labradoodle standing on the other side of the baby gate in the doorway. Schatzi marched up, stuck his nose out at Jack, who returned the nose offering. Both sniffed for about 10 seconds, then I picked up Schatzi and shooed Jack away (didn't want to overdo the surprise introduction). Schatzi showed not an iota of concern.
We plan to continue the occasional switching of rooms, increasing the number of places Schatzi can explore over the next week while the other cats are kept upstairs.
By the way, I'm not sure who made the crocheted "blanket" for him, but he definitely knows it's his. We often find him curled up on it (see the photo).
