Notes from Home
Yes we were told, the brother and sister pair of Barnum and Bailey were available if we wanted them. Be aware, however, that both have been rescue kitties from early on, and were very very suspicious and shy with people. Bailey, the female, in particular, we were assured was hard to approach. But even on the trip home in mid-December I began to suspect a bait and switch deal had been perpetrated on us. Bailey, the supposedly super shy one settled into her travel crate curled into a ball and slept like the 6 1/2 month baby she was. Barnum, on the other hand, hunkered into watchful kitty mode. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt by thinking he was just being protective of his sister.

They both started out slow and shy at home, especially with people. Soon the assumption that they seemed to have that my husband and I were merely a relatively competent staff seemed true. Day by day, however, Bailey began to see that it felt good to be admired and petted and even brushed provided one did not hold her for those activities. By mid-February Bailey would jump on the bed for her lengthening periods of petting. Finally by mid-June Barnum has allowed an occasional quick pet. Except when (on his terms naturally) he is about to be fed. At that time (usually bedtime) he falls in expectation before my husband and demands his affection for a while.

Since neither of these now-year-old kitties had any real experience of home before us,they have taken a while to understand that they are now in their forever home, though it is hoped that one day Barnum may trust us even more. We would not part with either of the kids. Bailey's athletics and Barnum's curiosity about things and how they work are a joy to behold. And when they get in one of their spells they can leave us in tears of laughter. Thank you, Siamese rescue for these two wonderful additions to our family.

THOMAS THE TANK
There's no place like home, There's no place like home,There's no place like home.
Well I did as the rescue fairy said and repaeated that three times, but it only worked half way. I'm out of that scary shelter and in a nice comfortable room of my own, but it still isn't home.

Meowmy said it's like a half way house.........I'm halfway home. She said she is now going to love me and help me find my courage and also find me the perfect forever home. I am a shy boy and will take my time getting to know you, but once I do, I'll reward you with head butts, purring, and lots of rubbing.

I also like other cats as long as they don't pick on me. Meowmy says I'm just a big baby! Well, I can't help it, I'm a lover, not a fighter.

So if you have a fairly quiet lifestyle and a lap that is just yeaning for a big boy like me to sit in it, I'm your boy. Ask about me and meowmy will tell you all about me.

Thomas (I'm not really a tank lol)

Notes from Home
July 5, 2009
Thomas has been with us for 6 months now. He is the sweetest kitty-maybe EVER. Such a gentle nature. He is full of headbutts and affection. He is a big talker - always has an opinion about everything. He has been such a wonderful addition to our household. I feel so fortunate to have Thomas. This is the second adoption we have made through Siamese Rescue and I continue to be in awe of the devotion, time and effort that is put forth for these beautiful animals. I want all to know that Thomas is loved and appreciated for the joy that he is. He finds a way to make me smile every day.
And another big thank you to all of you in rescue that made this wonderful boy become part of our family.
Oh...and did I mention that he is a handsome handsome boy...a delight for the eyes! Handsome and sweet...there isn't much more a body could ask for!!

FELIX
Hi,

I'm Felix, a rather handsome young man who found himself in a shelter because of some housing situation. So Foster Mom has taken me in, and I'm living the high life. Mom lets me roam around the house during the day, and I'm starting to hang with her as much as I can. As you can see, I'm turning into quite the lover. I do mind my manners and am good about the litter box. Check out my other photos - you'll see how handsome I am.

Purrs,
Felix

Notes from Home
I am having some problems problems with Beau that is making life for Maggie very unhappy. He is constantly jumping on her and biting her in the neck, often times he is "assuming the position" and she is so sweet and does not fight back, give him a good swat and put an end to it. She hisses in her quiet way (she is the sweetest kitty ever!) I wonder if he is doing this when I am not here, or if it is something he is doing for my benefit. It seems to be getting worse as time goes on, also. When I told Kathy Hutchison about it originally, I was hopeful that it could have been that he had been neutered in April, and still had some testosterone. Kathy suggested that we spray him with water when we could catch him biting her. That is a challenge, but I have been doing it when I can, however, he runs away because he knows what's coming. This morning, while I was typing this, he ran in the bathroom and urinated on the rug! This is the first time he has done this! I had some water in there for him where I had been giving him soft food and water several weeks ago when ants were coming in the kitchen all over his food. However, when that stopped, I started feeding him his soft food in the kitchen again, but left the water. I took the water out of there this morning. I feel like I need to isolate him again, but every room is carpeted except the bathroom, which has no window. He loves the screen porch. I could isolate him out there. What do you think? I need HELP!!!!!!!!!! Maggie is unhappy, Beau is unhappy, I am unhappy and totally frustrated. I try to love on him, but he pushes away from me. I know y'all have all the good ideas, so I am praying that he can be happy here. He sure was happy in his foster home, it sounded like. He has all the makings of a good home here, but something is not to his liking.

Adah is a great cat! We all love her. SInce she joined our family 3 years ago, she has made us happy. We can't recall what it was like around here without her. The children are now 8 and almost 5, and Adah is their favorite and she is theirs.

Notes from Home
Singer aka "the Ambassador" is the friendliest of our meezer crew. He takes nightly strolls with my husband and I, perched on DH's shoulders. The neighbors literally watch for us and then come outside and chat and talk to Singer. He is a fascinating conversationalist with everyone and always has a word or two to say to each visitor.

He's become the "daddy" to all fosters, particularly any kittens. But to each and everyone of them, he will show them around the house, share his basket of toys, play race and chase for as long as they want to and has been, on occasion, known to share his Millie bed with a foster.

All in all, he is almost the perfect cat and we simply adore him!

X-MAN
Afternoon nap after morning play - check.

I like to play in the morning - anything will do, and then take a nap in the afternoon so I can prepare for a busy night with you. I'm chatty and comfortable with any guest you might have. I like woofers and other cats, and if you have kitty tv (a bird feeder) I can entertain myself for a morning or a hundred mornings.

Foster meowm says I am just like the X-Men - a super hero personality hiding behind a calm Meezer flame face. I love to purr, and I love to play, and I love to eat...if you're looking for a cat like that contact foster meowm!

Notes from Home
7/3/09 - I've changed his name to Thai. Thai had a rough start, within a few days I had to take him to the vet. He had an eye infection, ear infection, upper respiratory infection, and kidney infection. He has recovered from all and is very well now. Thai has gained over a pound, wieghing in at 12.2 pounds now. My other cat, Samantha, hissed and growled at him for days. She never actually attacked Thai, but she did chase him under my bed all of the time. I had to stand near their food so Thai could eat. I'm happy to say that the chasing has turned into play now, both cats are now getting along well. Thai loves the cat pole, especially the "birds nest" at the top. Now if I could only get him to sleep through the night so I could get a good night's sleep.

Notes from Home
7/3/09 - Samantha's first instinct is to hide under the couch whenever someone comes in the house, even me. However, for the last week when she notcies that it is me coming through the door she settles down and does not hide. She did not like Thai when I first brought him home, but they get along now and even play together. Samantha is not a lap cat but she does show affection in her own way.

5/18/09 - I kept her name because Samantha responds when you use it. She gets more comfortable every day. She doesn't walk away when I happen to be walking in her direction anymore. In fact, a few days ago I woke up early one morning to find her sleeping in corner of my easy chair. Since there was enough room I sat down beside her, she did not move. Samantha just curled up next to me. I put my hand on her and she stayed there, she even touched my hand with her paw. She still does not like to be touched when she's prowling around; or to be picked-up though. I'm learning her signals for when she want' to play, have a treat, or fresher water. I change her water twice a day, but sometimes she wants fresh water. All-in-all she's doing fine. Samantha doesn't like me to physically play with her, every time I try she walks away. She likes when i play with her using a wand toy. I'm trying to adopt X-Man to be her companion i think she'll like having another cat to play with. I don't have a camera yet, but I intend to get one; I'll send photos when I can..

Samantha is doing fine so far. She had one incident where she pooped on the kitchen floor last week. I said no to her several times and put her in the litter box. No problems since then. She does not like to be picked up or petted much. But she stays in the room with me, usually laying on the floor 1 to 4 feet from me. She loves to play with her wand toy. i got a 6 foot climbing with a at condo about 2 feet off the floor. It has a "Cat nest" on top where she can lay down up high and hide. She has not ventured past the condo yet. Samantha sleeps under my couch most of the day and only comes out to eat or use the litter box. At night she stays out, patrolling the house and playing with her toys. She'll rest on my couch or on the floor. She likes Fancy Fest. I alternate can food and dry food. She's eating and drinking well. I clean her litter box twice a day.

I still do not see any aggression in her. She has only nipped me once while we were playing, but it was very light. When she does not want to play anymore she'll thump the floor with her tail and scoot away from me. If I don't get it right away she'll bat my hand harder than usual. She has never shown her claws, hissed, or bitten. I only saw her fuzz up once, my air conditioner kicked-in and frightened her. She loves her treats and will eat them with me only inches from her head. I've even patted her on the head and she didn't flinch. Samantha does tend to drop to the ground when I touch her back, I'm not sure if this is defensive of wanting to play yet. Some times she'll drop on her back and squirm to invite play, other times she'll drop and put a paw out. I look at the rest of her body to decide which is which.

I know that she is getting more comfortable each day. She seems to be a bit leery about people and will probably take a long time to show affection, but I have no intention of giving her back. I'll consider getting a playmate for her in June, she should be totally at ease here by then.

Hey, guys, I'm doing great. Today I get to be out with the rest of the cats. So far I'm just having some fun exploring and talking in my chirpy voice. Once in a while I have to find a spot to hang out and when foster mom comes looking and calls to me I answer. I'm just sort of doing my own thing and curious of the other cats, but I pay attention if they aren't interested in me. (How could they not be interested in me?) Foster mom thinks I'm a little older than the 10 months the people said I was. We'll see what the doc thinks on Monday when I get my exam. So far I'm being true to the reputation of flame point boys - laid back and lover boy.
Notes from Home
Hello! I'm quickly settling in at my furever home, where I get to run around and play! My name is Jasper now, and I have this cozy spare room all to myself where one of my new "furparents" sleeps in the room with me every night so I'm not lonely. I'm still learning I probably shouldn't run over them when they're trying to sleep, but I'm sure I'll figure that out someday :-) There's another cat here, my big sister, that I haven't really met yet, but I get to meet her in a week or so. I've only been here for 4 days so I'm still adjusting to life in my new home, but I still love to purr whenever my furparents come and spend time with me! Love, Jasper

UPDATE: I'm getting along better with my big sister, but she's still wary of my lurking about her. I still act like an oversized kitten, running and climbing on everything I can! My big sister and I share food: she seems to like my food more than hers, and I like her food better than mine. Yummy! I get lots of attention from my furparents, as does my sister; they make sure we know we are loved and cared for. Maybe someday I'll stop nipping at them, but maybe I'm still learning how to behave. Love, Jasper

GHADA
Got a bad case of Long Day Syndrome?
You know: Work harder! Work longer!! Do more with less!!! Look happy about it!!!!

Bleah.

Well, Doctor Mom, er, I mean Foster Mom thinks I might just be the cure for what ails you.
Imagine coming home to a happy, friendly, outgoing, soft, sweet, loving, adoring little meezette (ME, of course!) who tells you every time you walk in the door that you are without a doubt the very best person in the whole wide world.
Imagine me curling up against you and cradling my head in your hands and purring to beat the band. Imagine how you'll feel when you see my dreamy-happy-high-on-love expression telling you that for just this minute all is right with the world.

Feeling better yet just thinking about it? Imagine how much better you'll feel when I'm really there with you - hurry and ask Doctor-Foster-Mom about me now!
Purrs -

kIkI IS doing really well. This morning I mixed dry food with canned food and she ate all of it. She lets me brush and comb her and pick her up. She stands on her back leg and wrappes her front legs around my leg when I come out of a closed door. She loves to have her butt scratched, she always is putting her butt in my face.

I am really enjoying KiKi. I cannot thank you enough for connecting us.

SAMANTHA
Well, there's good news and there's bad news:

The bad news is that I'm a seal point Diva so.......
I'll need a home with an experienced Siamese owner;
No children or active noisy homes;
My new home should be no more than 2 hours away from my foster
home, as I don't care to travel;
I really don't like other cats, but we might be able to negotiate this;and
I'm bossy and a bit demanding.

The good news is that I'm a seal point Diva so......

I love to be near you and follow you around; sometimes I get under
foot so you'll need to be steady on your feet;
I want to be the center of attention;
I like to chat and purr;
I love to be held, snuggled and cuddled;
I love to sit in your lap;
I love to be brushed and pet, especially my face and ears;
I'm curious and playful, wand toys preferred, no balls please;
I have my own bed, but I like to sit on yours too, especially if you are
in it, and by the way I need lots of room;
I have a serious affection for men.

Is there anything else that you need to know? Click on me and chat with foster mom, she'll fill you in.

PS - did you happen to notice that I am drop-dead gorgeous?

Notes from Home
Hi...
Name should be changed to Sammie.
All is well.
She is still into everything and VERY affectionate and MORE THAN SMART.
She loves to chase and fetch a ball and bring it back for another throw/catch... over and over again! (part dog, I think).
She charms everyone she meets.
Growing, a lot.
Tried to upload a couple of pics... but got a message saying that records show that I am not the adoptor... will try again... but may be a glitch!
Hope all are well!
