Here I am - the poster child for rescue. I'm only two, and I've been through more in that time than most cats experience their whole life. So what's my story? Let me give you the highlights, or low points would be more accurate. I was abandoned at the vet hospital my 'owners' brought me to. I was dehydrated, malnorished, full of worms, and had a something wrong with my hip. When the kind vet there examined me, she discovered that I have a healed broken leg, and an untreated hematoma of the ear. I can hear just fine, but my ear is permanently crumpled. While she was examining me, my 'owners' vanished. The vet staff tried to contact my 'owners' but no luck - which made the vet very happy because she said a nice boy like me deserves a real home who will take care of me. And so, thanks to her - here I am in rescue! Foster mom says that someone will love me in spite of my ear, and in spite of what may be a permanent limp. I think things are starting to look up for me, don't you? I'm a nice guy, I purr a lot, and I love attention. And I'd really love a nice home where someone would actually take care of me.

The nice vet here took xrays and did bloodwork, and the news is actually pretty good. My bloodwork is fine, other than I'm anemic because I'm malnourished. Foster mom says we can take care of that. And the good news is that I have a fracture of the pelvis. That doesn't sound like good news, but it is - that means I will heal up just fine without surgery, I just need some rest for a while. I will end up with a limp, but that's OK - I won't be competing in any cat agility contests. I'll bet you're not much of a competitive athlete either - maybe we can be couch potatoes together, what do you think?

Notes from Home
To All Friends of the great cat known as MIsta who has changed his name to go with his new home. He likes the name Roscoff. He feels it gives him a real personage to go with his tender heart. Roscoff is named after a small town on the coast of Britteny where we have spent pleasant times.

But good news! Roscoff has left his secure hiding place behind the water heater and is now contentedly sleeping in front of the water heater under the kitchen counter where we can see him!

He eats well and his personal habits are impeccable. He is healthy but still unnerved as who wouldn't be but he is beginning to feel at home. We are waiting for him to make further physical advances in making friends with us. He is used to a constant chatter in a conversational tone where he will have heard the name Roscoff many times so he knows he is among friends.

Regards to all,

Jerry

December 20, 2009 Dennisport, MA

Sunday evening one week from the night Roscoff arrived as Mista:

Roscoff has made contact with us by coming up to be petted. He then came up on my lap. What a wonderful cat! He still needs to hide out for a few minutes from time to time. His health is excellent and and he is eating and drinking well. Another few days and I think he will feel right at home.
He is now sleeping in the living room with us in the cat bed that Jackie sent with him.

Jerry

Roscoff is slowly settling in and still exploring. He comes out during the day when we are with him in the living room and walks around the house. At night he roams the house and sleeps in his bed in the living room. We did get hit by a fairly strong NE snowstorm with about 18 inches. And the temperatures stay below freezing in the day and at night have been about 15 degrees. Lots of shoveling. When we come in from the snow Roscoff has to run and hide from the strange and new sounds of boots and winter coats being put on or taken off. But he does not hide long. He now purrs a lot and seems quite contented. It will take him a while to get used to new people(to him) coming into the house but he will adjust as he builds his confidence.

Happy Christmas to all of Roscoff's friends!

Jerry

Roscoff is very glad he has been in his new home for two weeks because he feels at home. He plays a great deal with his little soft toy gold fish. This morning he ran around the house and played for an hour and one half and then took a bath. He does not hide behind the water heater any more. I picked him up and put him in my lap and he purred and liked that although he perhaps would have like to run around some more. I put him down before he got restless. I think I could now pick him up without any fear on his part. So far he has not been introduced to any new people but that will happen this week.
It's great to have him here. He now has three places where he sleeps as he makes this place his own.
He meows when he wants to be fed and as a morning greeting but as yet has not given a real Siamese call but maybe it is because he feels so comfortable here. Again I restate, he is a wonderful cat.

Happy New Year to all fo Roscoff's friends,

Jerry

Roscoff has met a number of new friends in his new home and he acted as if he were the official greeter! When people arrive who he has not met he goes to welcome them. He plays a great deal and continues to run about. Today he has jumped up on the bed and is now sleeping in the bedroom as if to make that room part of his domain. He jumped up on my lap last night and is most affectionate when he is neither sleeping nor playing. When he is in a playful mood he will follow me about and make fake passes and gallops into the other room. What a delightful little creature he is.

Regards,

Jerry

Roscoff is almost completely at ease in his new home after one month. Last night was the first night that he slept all night (as far as I was aware) at the bottom of the bed which was great. He runs around the house a great deal and will fall asleep with a sigh of contentment afterwards. He loves to play and be affectionate on his own terms which is just great. I hope to get some photos tomorrow and will upload them here as soon as possible. His is the delight of the household and friends with all visitors. In a few weeks some friends come on a four hour drive for a weekend and some of them will stay at the house. They all want to see this wonderful cat, Roscoff! He as yet has not been up in the loft of our rather small house. We have kept the stairs blocked but in another few days we'll see how that adventure will please him. I think he will love the higher level lookout and since he is so agile I think it will add greatly to his enjoyment in running around.

Thanks to all friends of Roscoff.

Jerry

Hellooooo!!

Just arrived and have made it difficult for Foster Mom to get a picture without the aid of Foster Pa. She can't get a picture of me because I want to have my face in hers!

I WANT TO BE WITH YOU! ALL OVER YOU. Got plenty of time for me? I'm a fool for love.

PS I have a fluffy Balinese tail - it has golden highlights. Check out my other photos.

KC-Kitty Cat has made, we think, a remarkable adjustment to his new home. He is very easily spoiled and we think this is a habit carried over from his kittenhood and we truly feel sorry for his original owner who lost a remarkable animal. He is friendly with everyone who comes to visit. His is still a chow hound and he looks and feels like he is gaining weight. We sent you a photo of him and Max laying on the ottomen together on Christmas day. KC joined Max and we emphasize this was not Max's idea but we make good progress every day with this relationship. KC loves to play at bedtime when the lights are low and the dogs are asleep. Though he is open to play at any time. He thinks that he is in charge of the dogs and if they fight he breaks it up. Or if we discipline a dog he is right there ready to take charge. We truly enjoy KC and his personality changes a little every day. We were going to send you a picture but it looks to complicated for us. Thank you for everything we love our KC Kitty Cat. Carole & Bill

Notes from Home
12.18.2009 Finally, I am living the life worthy of a Siamese Diva. Although I've only been here a week now, I know I fallen into the lap of luxury. Currently I am ensconced in the master bedroom suite. I have everything I desire including a window seat where I can watch the horses in their paddocks and a full length mirror where I can watch myself. Watching myself in the mirror is my new favorite pastime because I really am beautiful, aren't I!?! I also have lots of toys to play with, regular room and housekeeping services, and my own bed, although I much prefer sharing the big one with Mom and Dad. They are really great, by the way. They attend to my every need and will sit for hours playing with me or just enjoying my company. Being a proper diva, I started out being somewhat aloof towards them, but I couldn't keep that up for very long. They treat me too well and love me too much to not do and feel the same in return.

The only thing that has happened to me since I've been here that I didn't like was a trip to the vet for a check-up. Thankfully it was a fairly quick affair and, except for noting a slight case of gingivitis, Dr. McGrath gave me a clean bill of health. She said I was one of the nicest rescue kitties she's ever seen. She was also very complimentary of the Siamese Cat Rescue Center and said that she wouldn't have any qualms recommending it to her clients. I thought that was pretty neat because I will always hold the SCRC in a special place in my heart. They did, after all, take me from rags to riches. It truly is a wonderful life.

12.26.2009 Merry Christmas everyone! I know I'm a day late, but I was way too busy yesterday to sit and write an update. I had presents to unwrap, new toys to play with, dinner to help cook, and, of course, naps to take. The weather was too nasty for Mom and Dad to work the horses, so they spent the day inside with me. We lost electricity just before noon, but it really didn't matter. The three of us spent the lovely day on the coach in front of the fire with a good book and a glass of fine wine.

In addition to celebrating our Savior's birth, this week I was given free rein of the entire house. I know this was way ahead of schedule, but I really hated being cooped up by myself. Don't get me wrong. The master bedroom suite is quite palatial, but I wanted to be with Mom and Dad more during the day. So, last Saturday, they started introducing me to my four-legged siblings and the rest of the house. At first, I would head back to the bedroom if something concerned me, but now nothing much concerns me except maybe when the dogs get too loud and boisterous.

I absolutely love it here. Mom and Dad are always on hand to make sure I have everything I need. I have tons of room to play and lots of warm and cozy places to sleep. Plus, I have a new boyfriend. His name is Roscoe and he is an absolute dreamboat. I wasn't really nice to him when we first met, though. I hissed and ran away, mainly because he looked so big and imposing. Now that I've gotten to know him, he's really wonderful. He's there when I need him, but will let me have my space when I want to be alone. He's the perfect companion for a diva like me. Ah yes, life is good!

01.01.2010 Happy New Year Everyone! And it is a happy new year in my neck of the woods. I have a forever home with a loving Mom and Dad, a new boyfriend who worships the ground I walk on, regular meals, a warm bed, and even the dogs now acknowledge I am the queen who must be obeyed. If this isn't Siamese diva heaven, I don't know what is. I think 2010 is going to be my best year ever.

I have a confession to make, though. The other day Mom left really early in the morning to go visit her sister. Dad wasn't awake yet, so before she left, she made sure Roscoe and I had our breakfast. Well, when Dad finally got up, I told him Mom had forgotten to feed us. Not only did he feed us again, he feed us twice our normal ration. When Mom got home, she noticed the empty cans in the trash and asked Dad where the food had gone. Boy was he miffed when he discovered I had fibbed to him. I know I shouldn't have, but I just love to eat so much. It's my third favorite thing to do after looking at myself in the mirror and sleeping in the bed with Mom and Dad. Oh well, I guess I won't be able to pull that trick again.

01.14.2010 Marlee's social calendar has been so packed full of play engagements and dinners with her boyfriend, Roscoe, that she's been unable to find the time to post an update. So, I figured I would post one for her. This is Diane, Marlee's two-legged mom here to say that Marlee is doing very well. She's healthy and pretty much at home now. She's about come to terms with the smelly canines with whom she's forced to share her palace although her residual displays of disdain may all be a facade as I caught her in the living room playing with Sully a few days ago.

She still doesn't talk much, but has a wonderful purr which she invokes at the drop of a hat these days. Right now she is curled up in her bed across the room from me, but I can hear her purring from here. I think she's happy with her life with us. If not, she's doing a pretty darn good imitation of a meezer whom has just received the keys to the kingdom. :-)

I can't thank the SCRC enough for bringing Marlee into our lives. We love her dearly.

KARINA
I just arrived and am in Siamese Rescue culture shock. I am a bit puny for my age, but foster mom is working on pumping me up to a bigger and stronger girl. I am a happy purring kitten except when getting a bath. Believe me, that was no fun. But I survived so guess it wasn't so bad.
Bye for now, Karina

Zeva and Coco are doing great. They rumble around every few hours, play with some toys, eat and then sleep. They like to come to the office with me and for the most part stay out of trouble. They do like to climb up the back of the desk chair and have rearranged some pspers off the work table. Nothing serious. At night they snuggle in bed with me. Zeva is always on the right side and Coco on the left.

My name is Bob Ross and I'm here because of the economy. I'm not sure what that means, but I don't like it! I've just arrived and missing my home but this Meezer Castle isn't too bad. I brought my own cat tree, litter box and toys. I've already been head butting and purring for my foster mom but would really like my own home soon. Please ask about me!

HANNAH
UPDATE: I'ts me again, Hannah, here to tell you that my sister and I are almost ready to go to our forever home. We are just about through with all our shots and vet care. i was very lucky and got through my medical scare with little trouble. I am veryhealthy now and would love to go to your forever home. Be srue to ask about Honey and me.
Purrs, headbutts and cuddles, Hannah

Hope you are having a sunny day like we are. I'm posing in the sunshine so Mama Katie could take my picture. I look a little bit "chunky" in this picture, but it's just the way I'm sitting. My littermate sister, Honey, and I are a bonded pair that have been through a lot. Somehow we got locked up in a basement and no one came to take care of us for a long time. We lost a lot of weight, got very dehydrated and had horrible fleas. BUT, you know what, everyone around us says now that we are two of the most loving cats they've ever known. We both LOVE to have lots and lots of attention, love to be petted and will jump up on the bed with you to sit in your lap or snuggle next to you just as soon as you sit or lie down. We both managed to get a bit of a shelter cold, but that hasn't stopped us from loving and being very grateful for everything we now have. Yes, I am a tortie, but there isn't a bit of "tortitude" in me - I am as easy going as my blue point sister. Because of all we've been through and since we seem to be very bonded, right now foster mom thinks we should go home together and I agree. How about you? Do you have a place in your heart and home for two LOVING and very SWEET sisters? Purrs, Headbutts and lots of Biscuits, Hannah

Notes from Home
My new mom and dad adopted my sister Honey and me about 3.5 months ago. Mom and dad describe me as an athletic tomboy and the perfect complement to girly-girl sister, Honey. They say that I rule the roost and I can hold my own against my new furry half-siblings, Charlie and Tori. I am a play hard, sleep hard kind of girl, passing time chasing fuzzy mice and racing wind sprints up and down the hallway with Charlie - I always win! I sleep on mom and dad's bed at night, but I haven't told them it's only because they have an electric blanket! Sometimes on cold wintery days, my daddy will start a fire and I will cozy up on my ottoman near the fireplace and toast my buns! My fur, once sparse and scraggly from being malnourished and flea-infested, is now soft and sleek. I have gained some weight and all of it must be muscle because mommy says I look about the same size as Honey, but I feel much heavier!

HONEY
UPDATE: We are about ready to go to our forever home - we're all done with our shots and we are in good health now. Will you be the family to take us home forever? Hannah and I are waiting patiently and would love to meet you soon. Purrs, headbutts and big purrs. Honey (Oh, yes, and a little talking to you, too)

Honey here resting in bed with my foster mom. She had to call in foster dad to take my pictures because I just couldn't stop headbutting her and the camera. Just as soon as she got into the bed, I snuggled right up next to hear and purred, purred, purred and made biscuits. That's how my foster dad got these pictures. Just like Hannah, I feel like I am a VERY lucky girl to have a bed, some people, some food and water and attention when I want it. We had a very hard time before Mary Lee at Animal Care and Control started taking care of us. We are SO lucky to have found loving people who want to help us. Yes, we are very grateful kitties and will show you how happy we are just about any time. I am a very easy going girl, but do demand my share of the attention. I'm also a talker (more so than my sister), but not enough to bother you - just to let you know how happy I am to have you around. Would you like to have two very loving and bonded girls in your home? If you would, please ask about Hannah and me. Purrs, headbutts and biscuits to you, Honey
Notes from Home
It's been about 3.5 months since my sister, Hannah and I moved in with our new mom and dad and our new furry half-siblings, Charlie and Tori. We've settled well in our forever home and especially enjoy birdwatching through the back door and from the extra wide windowsills our new dad crafted for us. I have taken responsibility for warming the laps of my mom and dad. If they sit still for a few moments, I will graciously appear and make biscuits on their bellies while gazing lovingly into their eyes! They think it's really cute when I start to settle in and tuck my head under and to the right while looking up at them sweetly. They describe me as an easy-going girly girl. I don't have a very loud meow, but I make up for it with my habit of "trilling" when they surprise me during a nap or while leading mom or dad to the room where sis and I eat. My fur was sparse and coarse and my hipbones stuck out when I was first adopted, but I've gained weight and my fur has filled in and mom and dad say I'm as soft as a bunny!

KIA
Wow! We're really starting to find ourselves now. I'm learning to take charge around here, and that means not taking anything from the big cats! Tiny package, but I pack a wallop! I'm becoming more comfortable with peoples every day (still not a lap sitter though)! I do like the occasional pets, and I'll even purr for you from time to time. If I feel like it of course. Foster dad says we're really starting to show some assertiveness. I dunno. I just like to play. A lot. Very rambunctiously. And with my brother of course. We romp day and night. We're still looking for a permament home together! Got a warm spot in your house (and your heart) for us?

Til next time,
Kia

Kona (now Bogey) and Kia (now Bacall) are healthy and growing fast. It is so much fun to watch them play with each other and their toys and us.

They were in isolation for 14 days and yesterday were allowed full access to the house for a few hours and again today.

The existing cat, Woodie, has not yet accepted them as friends but is not being hostile. So far they each keep to their own space.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
January 8, 2010
It is now one month since Bogey and Bacall joined us. They are doing great. Very playful and growing fast. We'll take them to the veterinarian next week to get their next dose of Advantage Multi so we will get an updated weight then but they are getting heavy, especially Bogey (Kona).

Bogey is a reall lover and likes to be held and snuggled. Bacall is more reserved and wants to be held but not as long as Bogey. They both like to show affection by head butting and rubbing against my face.

They (along with Woodie) like to supervise me when working at my desk. See the attached picture.

Bogey just finished an 8 day treatment for coccidia and seems to be fine. He had occasionally had a drop of blood and mucous after defecating but have not seen any for 5 days.

ELSA
I'm a Siamese mix kitten with plush, bunny soft fur. Is there Ragdoll in my background? Who knows, but whatever it is, I'm very very pettable with some major ear tufts going on. In any case, I'm darn cute and very friendly. I came from another rescue - and at that foster's house, I lived with both cats and dogs, so I can probably live at your house, too. Ask about me and find out!

I can be a bit "pushy" so don't consider me if you've got really mild mannered or timid cats. I will push them away from the food bowls, the toys, and your lap.

Lexi is doing wonderful!! She is a big "purr bug" she loves to head butt, and have her belly rubbed. She's getting along really good with my beagles, Dixie and Pepper. Jagger, my lab is so excited he still scares her a little and she hisses at him sometimes. He REALLY wants to play with her!! I'm thinking a few more days ... She LOVES her tree too! I brought Otis home today, but have him by himself in my son's room for now. Don't want to scare him! Lexi walked past his crate when I brought him in, sniffed and kept on her way. I love them both!! :)
